Opinions de Chong's Chinese Bar'b'que & Salads Fresno
Minimalist Mom and Pop Chinese food restaurant is a good place to get your grub on without flare. Four clean and uncluttered four top tables with movable chairs can accommodate up to 16 dine in eaters. Everybody else must takeout to go. Bold and subtle artwork on walls almost gives a high end feel. Pay attention to afternoon hours so you don’t come when they stepped out between meals.
First time here. Was highly recommended by a friend and they did not disappoint. Very clean fast and delicious. 👌
Was curious to review and i'm a sucker for chow mein I actually got side tracked and went for this egg foo young. The taste was pretty good and the sauce that came with it was great. Couldn't finish it so later on the day the leftovers and the sauce was good still. Now at the time I saw I believe only 2 people managing the spot so it took a little time but not too long the wait was worth. I'll be coming back to taste the chow mein in the future.
Just swung by Chong’s in Fresno—what a spot! The pork fried rice and sweet and sour chicken were both spot on, and for under $12, it’s a steal. Staff’s friendly, place is clean and chill. Definitely worth checking out. I’ll be back!
No doubt the best place for Chinese food, they are friendly, super clean cooking and very delicious.
Love the food come here every time i get some money its right by my house(here is the update menu)
One of the best Chinese restaurants in town! Great amount of food for the price and delicious! Highly recommended!
These pictures are the current 7/24 menu. Amazing Chinese food. It's definitely my favorite place in Fresno.

We tried the Special Chow mein, the katsu chicken, BBQ pork & orange chicken as many had reviewed these on here. Absolutely delicious! The meat in each dish...soooo juicy! Even the katsu chicken had such a nice crispy outside while being so juicy inside! The orange chicken is very different from other places, it has a very subtle ginger flavor which i usually do not like, but in this sauce it was great!! They are so courteous, bathrooms are clean and the food was so fast! My 3 year old said "I want to eat here every day". Toddlers are very honest 😆 Will definetly be returning!
I love their pork fried rice. I'm from bay area and this the closest I've had to SF or Oakland Chinatown. However keep requesting plain white tofu with black mushrooms and got it right once.. but still getting it fried or browned the last 2 times i ordered and requested! But still tasty! I live way across town with several Chinese restaurants near me... but gladly travel for their pork fried rice and other tasty entrees! 😋
We tried the chow mein, chow fun, Singapore noodles and ma po tofu. Everything was so flavorful, especially the tofu I think it was the best mapo tofu I’ve ever had. Will definitely come back to this restaurant!
The food is consistently and reliably delicious and cooked well. It’s not greasy, has a good amount of protein, and fairly priced. The restaurant is also clean and uncluttered, and the customer service is always lovely and welcoming. Such a treasure for this area.

Fast and affordable Chinese food. I got the katsu chicken for about $15. It was a pretty dry but they had a huge serving.
Our usual go to Chinese spot is closed on Sunday and we were craving Chinese food and this was our first time trying Chong's. It truly did not disappoint. I love that they offer a variety of Asian foods. For example: You can get your Japanese/Hawaiian fix with some chicken katsu, Thai with pad thai, or traditional chinese food where the selection is pretty extensive. I'm pretty picky with the bbq pork but they nailed it. We ordered the Chong's special friend rice and chow mein which has a little of all the protein mixed it, again, very delicious! The katsu, crispy, juicy, the way it should be. Would definitely come here again.
I'm truly pleased. This is the first Chinese Restaurant that has not let me down in the 10 years I been here. I got the Pepper Steak and shrimp fried rice. Along with some egg rolls 😋 Very pleased.

If you want Chinese food with strong flavors and different taste, this is one of the more unique spots. The orange chicken has a very strong honey glaze to it. I'm not a big orange chicken person, but I can tell those who love it will appreciate this. The Kung Pao chicken is good, just wish there was a little more pow to it. Chow mein was stir fried perfectly with just the right amount of grease. I only got the basic Chow mein that comes in a combo plate. I can only imagine how good a full Chow mein dish with all the greens and protein would be. Will definitely be back.

Food is extraordinary.. especially the honey walnut shrimp. And the ragoons, and the low mein, and.... well, everything.
I loved the hot and sour soup! Really spicy! Two friend had beef and broccoli. One said the beef to broccoli ratio wasn't great and the other said "eh" when asked how the food was. Overall I'd go again.

They don’t give a lot of food for the price you pay for. The food is descent, I would come back again, but I don’t come often, I come probably once every 3-5 months

A been a regular at Chong’s for over 10 years. The last year it has gone downhill. They changed everything. Everything is very salty, their sweet and sour sauce is generic and flavorless now, and portions seem smaller too - it’s really terrible. Very sad to say but after three bad experiences I will not be back. So long to one of my favorite Fresno traditions.
Not half as good since ownership change. Very bland, won't return. Okay, so I tried again in 2020. Though better, the curry has a seasoning in it that does not belong, it's the same seasoning on the BBQ Pork that was way too strong as well. Curry chicken was under cooked and pink on the outside. I did not realize this until 3:00 in the morning when, well, let's just say trash can and toilet were both used at exact same time. I then went straight to the fridge to check the chicken as I ate under poor lighting while watching TV and that is when I discovered the medium-rare chicken. Special Chow Mein was not cooked long enough (though all meats were in that dish) and looked more like a Thia dish due to the amount of oil on it. And this is coming from a dude who says "Pork Fat Rules!" They were busy but that is no excuse to under cook food. I was impressed with the amount of meat served in the dishes but there is still some ironing out to do. This was my go-to Chinese food place for years until ownership changed. I will be returning to China Restaurant which is 4 times further than Chong's. That should speak for itself. Just like the previous owners, this family is VERY friendly and appreciates the business.
