This place is amazing. Always a blast. Love the retro art deco style of the place. Really makes you feel like you're in a 1920s jazz club

The atmosphere of this place is fantastic. A friend and I had a really good time here lots of choices on drinks and they're very accommodating and seemed very humble when they come to take your order.

Very hip bar. There was live music the night I was there, up on the side stage. The back of the has a more intimate seating section with little tables. The bar has seating all the way around it. It was busy when I was there and took the bartender a few minutes longer to make my drink than I would have expected. It was still a fun night out at the Howlin Wolf. Can't wait to go there again!

My review of this place has changed so much since just 6 months ago that I had to rewrite this whole thing. Everything has improved as to where i would now give it 5 stars. The drinks are so much better and consistent, wait is reasonable depending on the crowd, staff is friendly and attentive, even when it's busy they'll still come to check on you. The vibes are always good. My only small gripe is that they charge cover some nights now, but at least it's not super expensive. Other than that this is a fun place to go if you want a nice drink with friends, and are still trying to have a nice party vibe.

This place is a blast! Great bands, most of the time there is no cover charge and fabulous drinks and beers on tap. Cool art deco vibe but sorry, no food! But there's plenty of places to eat or try one of the many food vendors around Olive! And you can usually find a parking spot in the area or in the park lot.

Sweet place. Great drinks. Awesome vintage decor. Benches are from the old Chicken Pie Shop apparently staying true to Tower’s culture. Penicillin and winter flower drinks were great. Amazing addition to Fresno’s tower district. Shout out to Asher the bartender!

Beautifully decorated and wonderful drinks. The music was amazing and wasn't so loud you couldn't have a conversation. The venue is well staged and made for music. I will be returning. Six month update: I have continued to go to this bar and am never disappointed. They make amazing use of their stage and invite live local music to play. The music is great and diverse. Staff has gotten even better at service and is prompt and well trained. Still recommend giving them a shot if you haven't. Very nice to see something "off the beaten path" in the Tower district.

The best bar in town! New! Went yesterday for soft opening and it was like traveling to the past. Gatsby speakeasy vibes🤩 It's just a lovely place. Comfortable seating. Clean. Bar area is a square and you can sit all around it. Outside patio has 3 tables. Live music on weekends. I highly highly recommend coming here with your friends!! 🍸🍾🍻🍺🍷🍹🥂

I visited "The Howling Wolf" recently since it just recently opened. Conveniently located next to a B of A atm it was hiding right in front of me in plain sight. Parking lot was pretty full so I parked across Olive st at a dollar store. As I approached I was greeted by the doorman , who checked my I.D. and No Cover Charge. As I walked in the hand tiled entry I found a beautifully designed interior that is like no other. Blues memorabilia mixed with local iconic pictures and artifacts. Each saying it's 1,000 words. Then a racing motorcycle made the clever centerpiece. I ordered an "Ol Fashion" that was perfectly served. Service is pretty fast but took a little bit when it got busier. The Music began with a live band that kept with the blues format. Quickly I noticed how unloud it was. I could talk without telling . Furthermore the sound was excellent.The stage design was art deco done by hand creating the perfect backdrop. I felt like I was in a movie. I found another gem and couldn't wait to share it . Prices are upscale but reasonable considering the ambiance. $10-$13 for a well presented drink. Everything you want for date night or getting together with good friends.

Watched our friend Trey play here and really loved the vibe. Only thing I found odd about this place is that they charge you the drinks before you even get them 🤨

The place has a great atmosphere and like most tower spots it can get a bit cramped. The bar is large and takes up most of the first room you enter in but there is seating available on all sides of the bar. The bar has great cocktails and drinks to choose from but beer has only so many handles available to choose from. The drinks will be pricey but you are paying for quality mixed drinks so be aware and tip accordingly. You can sit at the bar or tables or you can play a game of shuffle board. You can also go outside to the patio which is small but open for some fresh air. The live musicians who play there are always top notch and well worth a night out.

Its a very articulately assembled atmosphere, the interior reflects the art deco aesthetic of Tower Districts golden era, live music and performances are occurring often. It is a newly opened spot as of review, the first visit was very pleasant, it is a good place to lounge with a craft cocktail or beer. The second visit was very busy and service was slammed, yet we did enjoy the cocktails upon their completion and its nice to take in the atmosphere. I was also able to have absinthe on another visit, and it was very good too! Great Gatsby meets Tower District meets a howlin good time!

Chill spot. One of my favs in Fresno. Can be busy but the bartenders do well to keep up with the crowd. Personally, I like it there when it's less busy.

Great atmosphere, deco motif. A nice little stop in for a special cocktail, live music but not much of a dance floor. Not a drinking man's bar, it's a true cocktail lounge and the drink prices reflect that. Super busy hard to get a drink, sound guy is deaf! Sunday jam with Bobby Griffin is wonderful.

The place is really nice, let me start off with that. However…A fee things. Not too big a deal, but just something to be aware of: 1. They do not either know HOW or will NOT make an Adios MF. That being my favorite drink, I was a little upset since all the other bars I’ve been to know how or will make it upon request. Sucks but eh. 2. I was with my besties coworkers and one ordered a drink. Luckily she was a lil “sus” of the topping on her drink. It was cinnamon. She’s allergic. And of course, it was not listed on the menu. That’s scary… But all’s fine. ***I did not eat so that’s why my food rating is 1 :0

I live in and love tower. Love supporting the businesses here. But if you want to wait 40 min for a drink, come here! And when we wanted to cancel our order, the bartender magically found our drinks that had just been sitting there. She also had attitude about it.. They tasted watered down by that point. Two bartenders for this big of a bar is a joke. Get it together. Avoid for now. Cool decor though, really like the art deco style.

Stopped by last night it was a group of four of us. The place is beautiful inside from outside I was a little worried because it just looks like a hole in the wall but coming inside the decor and look is super cute. We sat at the bar the place was not too busy and no one came to help us finally we decided to stop a young lady behind the bar, can’t remember her name just that she had two colors in her hair. My husband asked for a gin and tonic she asked us what kind of Gin. The bar didn’t have his preferred gin so he asked for a dry gin she had no idea what to recommend. I hope this is not a bartender I’m guessing she’s just a helper or order taker But I think it would help if your employees know a little bit about recommendations when you don’t have some thing. We then sat at the lounge area no one ever came to ask if we needed anything else we had to go back to the bar ourselves and get more drinks. So, this place is very nice but your employees need some training in customer service. It definitely was not busy at all so there’s no reason why the service couldn’t have been better and also please don’t put people behind the bar that seem to not know much about drinks. It seems like the spot is new so maybe I will give it another chance.

Great Relaxing Environment. Sub par over priced drinks. A very nicely decorated bar with good live music. Too bad the drinks aren't nearly as good as the environment. All the mixed drinks are the same pink color and taste nearly the same. They are way over priced too at $13. The beer menu is lacking, with only a couple beers on tap for $8. The stockholm royale I got was not good at all either. The whole drink menu needs to be revamped. Management should take some tips on the quality drinks from the Modernist. Im giving the environment a 9/10 and the drinks a 3/10.

The atmosphere is at least an 8/10. The drinks…5/10. Old fashioned was ok but American gothic and the whiskey sour were…subpar especially for their price point. I would come back but I’m hoping the menu is updated and I’m also hoping the quality of the cocktail and flavor profile is increased. This bar is worth visiting to try it out for yourself.

Brought my wife to this establishment for a pre birthday celebration along with a few of my family members. Overall we had a good experience. The only real issue I had is at 1245 am ish they announced last call for alcohol. My son ordered a drink and 2 min later they brought the drink so my wife wanted another drink and the waitress asked if we need anything else. We asked for another drink and the waitress said last call had been announced so at that that time I was ok with not getting her the drink. Then the bartender asked if we needed anything else and this was roughly 1255 am we then asked for the drink from him and he also said last call was made at 1245. I could understand the law or whatever. But what I could not understand is on the opposite side of the bar the bartenders were making drinks up until we left which was roughly 110-115 am. This kind of upset me.

Used to love coming here, but lately the service has been awful. Last visited this past Monday night, not busy at all, bar wasn't even full. It was like the barback was intentionally trying to ignore us any time she passed. After waiting a good ten minutes we were finally able to get her attention when she delivered water to the guests next to us. "Oh, has no one helped you yet?" 🙄🙄 Everyone at the bar had to ask for service as no one was being checked on or even greeted upon sitting down. Very weird atmosphere and the barbacks definitely need some additional training. Head over to literally any other upscale bar in town for much better service and tastier drinks.

This is a place I’ll definitely keep trying! It’s absolutely worth giving a shot!

The worst service EVER!!!!!!!! Took 30 mins to even get a bottled beer. I ordered it three times, when finished they took my bottle and didn’t ask if I would like another. It was early evening Saturday. They weren’t busy. There were 4 plus bartenders and servers. Please hire better staff. This place has a great atmosphere and music now Hire some good bartenders/ servers and you’ll have it all!

Drinks are good but staff needs more training or more bartenders need to be scheduled. Went in with my wife and a friend took 30 minutes to get our first drinks, then another 20 for our second and it wasn't even busy. Other places in Tower do the upscale cocktail experience with better service. Probably won't go back for a few months until after they figure out the new opening hiccups.

This is the second time that I go to the Howlin Wolf and both times we had to wait longer than 30 minutes to be waited on. My most recent experience we waited over thirty minutes to be Waited on and when we were finally asked if we wanted service my group and I were already dissatisfied with the service. If you’re patient enough, the drinks are worth it otherwise, don’t bother going.

I went on a Thursday late afternoon, not busy at all, and ordered a signature cocktail. I was surprised to see my drink was pre-made and poured straight from the tap. I paid nearly $16 for a pre-made drink, not a signature cocktail. And it was not that good, to be honest. I believe it was one of their Christmas cocktails.
