Opinions de Salsas Mexican Restaurant Galveston
Food as usual was excellent. The service this time though was over the top. Frankie was amazing. He said he's been there for almost a year and had worked at Salsa's several years ago and for many years. How did we mange to not get one of his tables before this? Well, now I know to ask for him every time. @Salsa's management - give him a raise already! On the downside, the prices have gone up the roof. Two people, shrimp tostadas, veggie enchiladas, and 2 topshelf margaritas $120 - Pfft...
Great food. I had the grilled chicken breast (no bun) and was delighted by the massive portion and the melted cheese and the overall taste of the food. The soup wast also very tasty. I thought the price was reasonable.
We had a great experience at Salsas. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup, and it was amazing—rich, flavorful, and comforting. My kids ordered burritos, and the meat was incredibly good—tender, well-seasoned, and clearly high quality. Honestly, everything we tried was excellent. You really can’t go wrong here. We’ll definitely be back! 🌮🍲
Had a nice visit overall. The drinks were really good . The food was good our server, Fransisco was outstanding—easily the best service I’ve had here in all my years coming. Super attentive and friendly, which made the experience enjoyable.
Positive aspects of my visit: the restaurant is very clean and extremely well organized. Service is fast, and the staff is very professional, from the person clearing the tables to the servers bringing the food. Everything runs smoothly and efficiently, and the manager is also very attentive, which makes a difference. I’m not usually a big fan of Mexican food, but their menu offers a wide variety of dishes with plenty of options to choose from. Overall, this place is very well managed. Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Loved the food! I ordered the Monterey Jack enchiladas since I don’t eat meat, and they did not disappoint. The pink lemonade was good too. Can’t wait to come back this is officially added to my regular spots when I’m in town. If they ever add the tortilla soup without chicken, it’s over for me I’d be there every day. I just know it would be amazing. 10/10
Our server Simon was very kind and attentive! We also got to enjoy some Mariachi music! Food was good, as always! I ordered the chile relleno. It was a very large serving lol but I gave it my best effort ! Very tasty but I couldn't finish it all. All around, I had a great experience and will be back!
This is my honest review. We came in around 4pm and it was not crowded at all. Atmosphere is great, everyone was really friendly. We ordered the veggie fajitas. ( as shown in pictures. it was supposed to come with pineapples , but it wasn’t on there. (Mistakes happen I understand) We let our server Dora know. And she made it right and even threw it on the grill. Amazing service. Decently need to give the veggie fajitas a try.
We have been coming here for years and one of our favorite Mexican places in the Galveston area. The location is great with lots of parking in their lot, on the street or a nearby shopping area. They make good margaritas and other drinks. The food is good quality and plentiful. Can have a wait at peak times.
Came to Galveston on a Tuesday eventually got hungry looked up some places online and decided to try Salsas because the food pics looked goood. I ordered Chicken Nachos — no beans … ordered food at 7:58pm the food was on my table at 8:03pm. Nachos were great chips were not soggy at all, food was perfect temp, their ingredients were absolute fresh love their Guacamole … and the waitress was very nice. Price was affordable. Also there sweet Tea is “SWEEET”. They have a live band the atmosphere was pleasant. —— Woke up the next day and wanted to buy a second round of nachos but they dont open until 11am. Food was GREAT !!
Was really good! We asked for the ground beef nachos but she accidentally rang us up for the fajita beef nachos but we ate it anyways. We also got the Laredo plate and it was really good! We were sat down quickly and only waited for about 10 mins for our food! Definitely recommend for a quick stop.
The food was delicious. The fish taco and the steak and chicken fajita fries was really delicious. The strawberry margarita was amazing. The environment was family friendly. The waitress was not so attentive.
Ordered a chicken fajita nachos, got a chicken nachos. It was stacked high. It was good. So I started taking it apart and there was no onion or peppers so when I asked she looked at me like I was stupid, mind you on the menu there are these two options fajitas $3 more! I would have been happy if they brought me the rest of the ingredients.
I come over right now and then I'm in Galveston. It's been a few years. I've always had good experience this year. I always felt like the food was pretty good. This visit was different. The food was very bland and lacked salt and seasoning. The chicken fajitas, the rice, and the beans all had no salt. The service was decent. They bring your food out quickly. There was a mariachi band playing while we were there. I'd come back again, but hopefully next time they learn to season the food again.
I could eat Mexican food 3 meals a day 7 days a week, but unfortunately it would not be this food. The good: - We were seated quickly - Our waitress was great - Standard Mexican restaurant vibes - Green salsa was tasty - Our margaritas were strong - The charro beans were delicious The bad: - Rice was dry and bland with what appeared to be freeze dried veggies like you'd get in boxed rice. - The veggie fajitas were not good at all. Too much garlic on top, and the green olives & pineapple combo was yuck. My wife ended up ordering the tilapia (which was okay) - The flour tortillas were chewy and not in a good way. If you're expecting Rosa's tortillas, guess again. Overall not impressed and won't be back. Sorry, mi amigos.
The food was great, but we had a serious issue with a gluten allergy. One person in our group is allergic to gluten and confirmed multiple times with the waiter that her meal would be gluten free. We were assured it would be handled correctly. When the food came out, it was served with crackers and a tortilla chip bowl — both containing gluten. For someone with a true allergy, this isn’t a small mistake. It’s a safety issue.
If your Mexican I wouldn’t recommend this place. The enchiladas was just a taco with some red sauce that makes no since. You get a wet corn tortilla. I had to separate it and just eat the chicken. No cheese and the waiter just came and throw the food on the table.
This was our very first time eating here, so I don’t want to completely drag them… but here we go. We ordered the shrimp tacos and a combo meal that came with a tamale, an enchilada, and a beef taco. Starting with the shrimp tacos: they were not great. Very bland, zero excitement, and honestly just there. I wouldn’t recommend them. The tamale was okay but also lacked flavor. The beef taco was probably the best thing on the plate, but even that didn’t really hit the spot when you’re craving a good taco. For the enchilada, I asked to switch it to beef and assumed that meant ground beef. It came out as steak instead, so that one’s on me for not clarifying — lesson learned. Now let’s talk about the queso… because wow. It tasted like straight-up Velveeta and came out cold. Cold queso should be illegal. The service, unfortunately, was the worst part of the experience. It was clearly dinner time, so the wait was understandable, but it took a while just to get acknowledged. Once our drinks were dropped off, our server basically vanished. We saw him two more times: once when the food came out and once when I had to track him down to ask for limes. Eventually, he brought the check… after a very long wait. We were asked about refills exactly once, and that was right when the food arrived — while our drinks were still half full. I mentioned that we didn’t like the tacos after only eating one out of the three, and while I was maybe hoping for a small discount, we ended up paying full price. I get it, but it was still disappointing considering most of the plate went untouched. On a positive note, the atmosphere wasn’t bad at all. I actually enjoyed being there, and the vibe was decent. It honestly felt like we may have had a newer or overwhelmed server. I’d be willing to give this place one more try because everyone deserves a second chance — but based on this visit, I wouldn’t recommend it.
😡 The worst racial discrimination I’ve ever experienced. The hostess seated us in a corner near the entrance just because we’re Asian, while every other customer after us was taken to better tables inside. 👎 The staff’s attitude was also terrible. When guests were leaving, she didn’t even say goodbye — she was just staring at her phone. I used to visit this well-known Mexican restaurant every time I came to Galveston, but after this, never again. 🚫 If you’re Asian, stay away from this place.
