Great food and service but the serving is too small.
It's probably my favorite restaurant in the food court by far. The chicken teriyaki is delicious, and portions are just right. The bento box is my go-to as it has a bit of everything I like from their menu. If you haven't tried the chicken teriyaki, then it's definitely worth at least a try. Highly recommend!
Got a Beef bento box with fried rice for lunch from here today, great quality all around except for the dumplings. Meat was tender, California rolls were decent enough and the fried rice was pretty good, just that the dumplings were a bit chewy and didn't have much taste. Not the best, but as far as mall food goes it's gotta be 5 stars for me
I'm a bit surprised at the negative reviews. Sure, it might be a restaurant in a mall food court, but every time I come here, the food is fantastic. Their teriyaki chicken is juicy and flavorful, and even with extra chicken ($1.79) and a substitution of fried rice (50¢), my food comes out to just under $11, which is very affordable and worth the price.
hits every time! Their fried rice is delicious just like the ones at hibachi restaurants and I’ve never gotten sick from their food I don’t know what these other reviews are on about.
I was at the mall today but you were closed? Please tell me this was just a random fluke and you're not permanently gone.
Food and portion always great ! 3rd time i come here and it’s consistently good everytime. Prices very reasonable for the amount of food they give you . Only thing i wish they have more side dishes their dumping and rolls are also great !
Very good Japanese food fresh very busy place prices affordable food cooking front of you on the grill it cost you $15 per person which is not bad to have a lunch
Great food amazing costumer service I been going for many years and I will continue to do so , I love my doble beef and doble shrimp extra sauce and white rice no salad
Only giving this place 4 stars because its a nightmare to get too being in a mall and the food wasn’t as well prepared as the location in Freeport. Still tasted good.
Standard teriyaki chicken joint in the mall food court. But it is so good. As far as mall good, it's a great deal. I get the chicken teriyaki with veggies only (no rice) and double meat for around $8. That's just about good enough for me and one of my kids. Usually a long line but they move it fast.
They really hook it up with the extra chicken here. Lack of good hot sauce is why I wouldn't give them a perfect rating (I'd give 4.5 if I could, but I can't)
Decent american asian fast food in mall setting. Food came fast and hot. Had the shrimp and chicken terikaki with sauteed veggies and white rice for approximated $11. Wasn't over-salted, like alot of other fast food places.
Food was okay. Beef was a bit chewy but chicken and shrimp were fine. Cabbage salad was prob the tastiest thing on the plate. Would prob try again if at the mall. Rated 3.5 out of 5
Food is reasonably priced (under $10 for an entree w/o a drink), freshly prepared and generous portions, however it's tasteless. Had the Chicken Teriyaki w/ Fried Rice, and it was bland. Looks like they forgot to add the teriyaki sauce. They can do better by adding more seasoning & sauce.
I’ve been coming here for I guess 25 years but don’t think I’ll go again. The last time I was there around 4 months ago it wasn’t close to being the consistently great tasting Teriyaki Chicken I’ve been getting for years. The chicken was fresh and tender but there was no flavor in the sauce at all. It almost seamed watered down. I decided to go the other day thinking maybe they just had an off day last time I went but it was exactly the same, tasteless. I won’t be going back anymore and it’s a shame because this place used to have the best Teriyaki Chicken anywhere.
I went back yesterday and the food is ok but the sauce is not the same as it used to be. It was much better before. It does not have the same taste as it used to. Disappointing.
Much better this time. The last time I went I was accused of stealing. This time they were much more polite and my meal was ready when I got there. Much better today. Thank you!
Great food but the cooks sometimes have very bad bad attitudesband extremely RUDE... I wish the manager would say something to them about being respectful to their customers.
Foods are getting worse. Failed to control freshness of vegetables. The broccoli was terribly rotten. The cabbages were still blacked. I see why the line disappeared on Saturday lunchtime. Done. Hopeless. -------‐------------------------- Below is 8 month ago. I visit sarku japan every time when I visit Roosevelt Field Mall. Food tastes great as usual. Today, however, vegetables were not fresh at all. They were terrible. I am not sure if a franchise can even use such unfresh vegetables. Today was Saturday, and there were lots of people in the food court.
There was a Chinese cook making the chicken. The customer did not want sauce on her chicken. The Chinese cook told her to relax. Talk about customer service! The customer just took her food embarrassed by what he said and walked away. The Spanish cooks are much nicer and polite. The food portions especially the meat are significantly smaller!!!
Sarku japan is a mall staple. But I ordered and they literally do not cook the meat in the teriyaki sauce, even worse, you have to ask for them to put the teriyaki sauce on your plate, if not its just bland unseasoned chicken on dry rice....Roosevelt needs to get it together
Food was lacking taste, place was dirty AND when one of the guys was taking out my rice he used his fingers with NO GLOVE on to take something out of the rice. Place looks so unsanitary. Save your money and just avoid. Use to be the go to spot but this place needs new management or something because it is run down.
Never again. The food had no seasoning. They don't even Cover the food trays. You have to cover them yourselves.bad experience in my view.Staff not very friendly.Thumbs down.
Be mindful when ordering here on Uber or any delivery service, they send you whatever they want instead of what you order.
Please don't buy any food from here me and my friend had food poisoning because chicken and strimp was either old or not fully cooked food is rushed because there's lots of people to serve please do not buy
Today I went there to have a Chicken teriyaki, I got sick I’be been sick all day and lying down. Don’t buy this food
I got the bento box; the sushi was old. When I ate the first one I thought the weird taste was because of the type of fish. I had a cold, so I couldn’t smell well. Then I realize it was cab. I asked my friend to try it and she could smell that it was bad before it even got close to her mouth.
I went there on Firday and everything was horrible. Their vegetables are unedible. Fried rice had nothing in it. The guy who was cooking food just throwed some chicken in my box. Absolutely disgusting amd horrible service from everyone.
Food is never that good to begin with. Always chewy & lacks flavor so I have to pack a bunch of sauce in it !! Found a hair in my food today , I came back & approached the cashier very politely as I was treated very nasty with a terrible attitude. She claimed I had already eaten all of the food which was not the case. It was difficult to receive a refund in which she went back and forth with me. Eventually she called her manager over (which he was rude as well) he didn’t even help the situation. I do not recommend this place as the food Always sucks and so does the TERRIBLE customer service !!!!!!!!!! Do not eat here everrrrrr
Yea…so this place used to be awesome but it just straight up sucks now. Attitudes from workers for no reason and the food isn’t as good any more.
I would rate them 0 stars, but I have to rate them 1 star for their horrible customer service. Every time I shop at Roosevelt Field Mall, I make sure to stop by here because I love the food. However, on this one particular day the man at the register and cooking counter refused to take accountability for his error. I came in here and spent $40.00 and they acted like I lied regarding my order and my husband had to show the man the receipt. Clearly the man had a language barrier, but instead of taking accountability for his error…he decided to get loud at me. I am utterly disgusted by this behavior!!! No one should tolerate feeling belittled. I felt extreme negative energy until my husband approached the man regarding his error. I deserve an apology!
My friend and I both ate the best seller- chicken teriyaki. The chicken had no flavor definitely didn’t taste the teriyaki. And the chicken tasted like old meat. My friend thought it tasted dirty like an old dirty residue. Even the rice was overcooked. Vegetables were bland and hard. Overall unpleasant meal. However, service was good.
We have never been here before and read good reviews about this place. We asked the cashier if we order our food first or pay first and the cashier responded in a rude manner. I asked to speak to a manager and clearly there was a language barrier and he told me to leave. This was a waste of money. I don’t recommend.
I been to this location few time the food seen to be ok. But today I Order the same what I normally order chicken and shrimp teriyaki with the noodle. I couldn’t eat the whole meal have to throw out the whole order. The chicken and the shrimp are burn and dry. And the noodle look like it’s been sitting in soy sauce all day it’s soooo salty.
Terrible quality chicken. Bones and cartilage pieces with lots of fat mixed in. I had to spit out chicken on my last 4 visits. I went there today to check if place improved since 3 months ago when I ate here. Well. No. That is why Im writing this review. I used to eat here for years but it got bad dice 2 years ago.
My daughter is allergic to beef so we bought her chicken for lunch. About 3:30am this morning she start regurgitating what smelled and looked like beef. I don’t think it was beef or chicken. I really wonder what they’re serving the public from this very busy food location.. 🤔
Absolutely horrible service, this is probably my first 1 star review but the cashier was unbelievablely rude to the point that I walked away after waiting approximately 15 min to order. I understand the food business is a difficult one and having English is a second language makes this all the more difficult , but taking your anger out on customers and having a bad attitude is unexcusable.
My son and I had this for lunch yesterday and today we are both very sick with food poisoning. Don't eat here!
The lady at the front cashier was so very nice and polite but the workers behind the grills were rude, maybe its just the heat and the grill I get it workong in the food industry is hard , but since I work in Roosevelt and I always order I dont expect anyone to know , I pay full price when I do order in person which is very rarely I dont expect someone to yell and slap the food on top , maybe closing it would be nice...but I don't know.
This is my first time at this restaurant it was quite upsetting. I ordered my food. The guy that Was in the far corner was plating the food he picked up raw shrimp with two spatulas and then took the same spatula and put it with my cooked chicken and then he picked up raw beef with the same spatula and put it on the grill and then went back to the cooked chicken that was already cooked. Mixing it up with the chicken that was contaminated from the spatula As far as I’m concerned that is cross contamination that is nasty. He could get somebody really sick if someone’s allergic to shrimp and they could die. I stopped him right away. I said what are you doing? I said you don’t do that. That’s cross contamination . He turned around and said yes this is what we do. I hope somebody does something about this because that’s very dangerous. and to think he thought he did nothing wrong he could get somebody sick and they could die from allergic reaction. 🤢🤯🤮 🦠😡 I would never eat here or recommend anyone to eat here!!!
I had a terrible experience my co-worker was screamed at for picking up my order which she had the receipt for. the adolescent they had cooking the food screamed hey why are you taking 2 plates when they were paid for so she left one I get home and this is what was served Sarku I will be back for you to make this right I ordered chicken teriyaki. you overcharged me that’s why it was in separate containers, and that’s why the kid you have working can’t keep up with his job. Even if she picked up an extra plate there is no reason to scream as if someone stole something from behind the counter. “when she handed you the receipt. “ prior to you asking aggressively as I walked up to get my order. I want my refund and I’m bringing your rice back too! Terrible customer service I will not eat here ever again!
Food was delicious but they deadass have a picture of sushi and when you order it they laugh in your face face and say they don’t have it mind u we craving it that it tho lol XD a
Customer service is horrible. Came here for lunch and got a chicken teriyaki plate with no veggies and shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura was cold, not even room temp, but cold and they don’t add any teriyaki sauce to your plate. It’s so dry. I asked for extra sauce and the guy basically ignored me twice so I just took my food and left. My girlfriend went back up to ask for the sauce and they look at her like she was dumb and to make her look dumb they gave her the sauce on a plate, when there was a bowl right beside the plates. Won’t be going back.
I tried getting my food but the guy with black shirt and red hat denied me saying I didn’t order even when I tried telling they didn’t give me my receipt he kept yelling and refused my food sayings he’s the boss and calls shit
do not eat there not sanitary, I got very sick from there, cross contamination when using spatulas to get the meat and when cooking. Can be also old meat. 3 days plus sick, be careful hope the CEO see this, they need to train people better.
Sarku used to be my favorite place for food in the mall. But Everytime I come…. It keeps becoming my least favorite. The chicken is slimy, and has no flavor, and the noodles are…. Crumbly? Sticky? The Fuji Grill a few feet away has BY FAR better food
The Spanish guy serving the meat to customers is giving less portions to non Spanish individuals and giving extra to Hispanics. Just a reoccurring trend I seem to notice the past 4 times getting food here . I won’t be coming back to this specific sarku
Very disappointing experience. My family chose Sarku Japan at Roosevelt Mall because of the long line, assuming the food would be good. We ordered three meals, including chicken teriyaki with fried rice, but received white rice instead. When I politely pointed it out, the employee (possibly a manager) raised his voice and handled it very unprofessionally. Worse, the food was undercooked and not fresh. The bento items (dumplings and rolls) were inedible, and we ended up throwing everything away. Definitely not worth the wait. Won’t be returning.
