Where do I start? This place is amazing. The interior is amazing. Very sophisticated and worth every penny for every dish and appetizers. The service is amazing staff is polite and friendly. You feel like family coming here. This is a vietnamese fusion cuisine. So be expecting your tastes buds to be screaming for joy when you take a bite of your plate. Their salmon is so good and crispy. Their garlic rice Is perfect. The filet mignon is my ultimate favorite the flavors combine with the sauce lord mercy you just fall right into a coma and to think you died and was resurrected. Its amazing. My family and I always come here. Defiently recommend to all who come here, totally worth the experience

Probably the best wings I've had and I know a thing or two about those. The checked all the the flavor boxes that you could desire in terms of great wings. They don't call them holy crunch for no reason. They were wholeheartedly crunchy, sweet savory and spicy. they weren't overly salty like you get a lot of places and greatly appreciated that. The crunchy salmon (especially the rolls) were top notch. Like the brodard ones but with crispy salmon! It is seasosoned similar to calamari. My wife and Iloved all the dishes we ordered they are reasonably priced but make sure you check before as there is usually a wait.

Great modern interpretation of Vietnamese favorites. The honey chicken wings were probably the favorite. Nemnungs were decent. Ribs were nice although it was a little drier than how I prefer. The noodle dishes were excellent. Nice service. Reasonable prices.

Wow, what a gem. If it was reviewed by Jonathan Gold, you know you won’t be disappointed. We had a party of eight, and here’s what we ordered: Deep fried salmon belly X2, Shaken filet mignon w/whole garlic X2, Blood clams, Green papaya beef jerky salad, Pomelo salad, Fried rice with fish, Charbroiled colossal black tiger shrimp garlic noodles, Caramelized cat fish, chow fun-type noodles with beef. Everything was excellent. Staff communication with customer is not great (we were waiting at the door for 5 min without anyone talking to us or telling us what to do), but still nice people.

Delicious Garlic butter noodles with baked / grilled gourmet shrimp! Just dances with my taste buds! Love it, plus the ambiance is classy 😋❤️👍😀 The only real drawback is it's a little far (14 miles), but it's soo worth it.

My most favorite dish is Salmon Belly and Garlic sweet potatoes. Yum!!! But everything roast i order is always mouth watering and the only restaurant that I don't take home left overs. Haha

If you're of a weak lineage and MSG gives you "headaches", probably don't eat here. Everything is plated well. Like every good Asian place, the food speaks for itself. I didn't really need service because the food was amazing. The blood clams fall right off the shell and taste amazing with the fish sauce they give you. The greens and chunky garlic were perfect and not greasy. It was a great complement dish to eat with the clams and other meat dishes we ordered. I saw them bring out the lobster and I wish I had ordered that because the portion size for it looked huge. I honestly don't think this place is fusion, I think it's just full Vietnamese but they play classical music in the background. Most of the time I was eating, they had the Harry Potter, Goblet of Fire soundtrack playing so I wasn't even mad 🔥

Came in on New Year’s Day and there was no wait and empty tables. Food is flavorful with a good price tag. My favorite was the Pomelo Salad which just had an different flavor profiles with each bite. The filet mignon was a tad too salty for my taste. And the razor clams were a hit at our table. Didn’t know they were Michelin star! Good food and people. Tipi is already included in the receipt. Love small restaurants! Other reviews say there is a wait, I would maybe go on an off day. Would return !

I stumbled upon this restaurant while scrolling through Instagram, and it immediately caught my attention. It’s pretty rare to find Vietnamese restaurants featured on the Michelin Guide, but this spot has earned a place on the OC Michelin Guide for several years. I’ve been obsessed with Vietnamese food lately so I’ve been making quite a few trips to the Little Saigon area and this visit did not disappoint. Garlic and Chives is tucked inside the Mall of Fortune, alongside other well-known spots like OC Lau2, Pholover, and 85°C. Unfortunately, many smaller shops in the mall have closed, so it’s not as lively as it once was, but these popular restaurants and bakeries still manage to draw a crowd. As soon as we were seated and started to look the menu, the first thing I noticed was their special selection of dishes featured on the Michelin Guide in 2019, 2021, and 2022, a pretty impressive feat. I also browsed through the menu while scrolling IG for recommendations and came across the Heo Quay Porchetta with Fine Rice Vermicelli. I tried to order it, but the server called out the chef to explain that this dish requires four hours of preparation and needs to be pre-ordered. Of course, I had unknowingly chosen something that wasn’t even available. What We Ordered: 1. House Special Pork Chops $16 One of their Michelin Guide dishes! The pork chops are marinated in a unique house-made sauce that’s a perfect balance of salty and sweet. For my taste, it leaned a little salty, but pairing it with the white rice made every bite just right. 2. Salmon Belly Chien Gion $12 This appetizer features crispy fried salmon belly served over a bed of fresh salad. The portion isn’t huge, but the fish is perfectly fried and pairs beautifully with the dipping sauce. 3. Grilled Blood Clams (So Long Nu Ong Mo Hanh) $15 Served sizzling on a hot plate, these blood clams are chewy and packed with flavor. 4. Black Tiger Garlic Noodles (Mi To I Tom Xu Nuong) $16 I’ve had a similar dish at Vox Kitchen before, and this version was just as good. The shrimp was plump and juicy, while the noodles had a rich garlic flavor and came in a generous portion, super satisfying. 5. Hot Tea $2 (each person) Simple, comforting, and a nice balance to the richer dishes. From the ambiance to the flavors and service, Garlic and Chives delivered a solid dining experience and I will come back and try some more. 📍 Garlic and Chives 9892 Westminster Blvd. #311, Garden Grove, CA 92844

Garlic and Chives is a top tier place to go to for great food in a great environment! The food reminds me of the good food that they serve at night in Vietnam where you go out with lots of friends to drink and eat. Every dish we ordered came out quick and hot! They dishes looked like it was made with love and the presentation is top notch. We ordered the ginger lobster at $34/lb. They said the minimum was 3 lbs. if you are looking for less costly lobster, I would not come here. The service was great and the atmosphere is very clean! The owners take great pride in making g the place well decorated. This place does stand out when compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. If you are looking for high end, this is the place to come to. I will definitely come back again for a special occasion.

Small restaurant within the Fortune Shopping strip mall. The food is very tasty!! It's Vietnamese food with a modern twist. All the dishes were well seasoned and nicely portioned. Highly recommend the paper rice salad and salmon belly summer roll! The server was really sweet. There's a wide selection of seafood dishes. Think atmosphere can use a makeover. Foodwise, it was delicious!!

1. The garlic noodles was well-made, and I love the flavors of these prawns! The spring rolls were also delicious! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! The interior is very spacious! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with our order! Everything came out in less than 15 mins! Note: You pay at the front! An Absolute Must-Try! Incredible Food & Service. We had an unforgettable lunch here with a group of 9 friends and family. Our host, who knows the area well, brought us to this gem, and it exceeded all expectations! The food is simply spectacular. We ordered more than six dishes to share, and every single one was delicious. The snail dishes are truly to die for—so flavorful and fresh. I was even brave enough to try the legendary balut (embryo duck egg), and it was a unique and authentic experience I won't forget! What made the meal even better was the fantastic service. Our server was incredibly attentive, handled our large table with ease, and paid close attention to all our requests and details. This is the perfect kind of family restaurant for an authentic, delicious, and lively meal. I cannot recommend Oc & Lau 2 enough to anyone visiting the area. A must-have experience!

We drive 2 hrs just to eat here!!! The line to get in is huge for dinner!! (Its that good) so make sure you get on the wait list online so you can keep track of what # you are. It's located in a small shopping area so you can pick up pastries while you wait. The atmosphere is gorgeous inside. Staff is pleasant and helpful in describing what a dish is if you're not sure. The food arrives to the table so fast. We order escargot, frog legs, the mango salad is my favorite. The lobster noodles are amazing. They also have a large menu of drinks. Teas, matcha, exotic fruit mix drinks and Thai tea.

First time I’ve been to this place I was recommended to come here and they did not disappoint. I asked my friend what should I get? He said the real question is how many things can do you want to get he says everything was amazing and everything was amazing coconut snails perfect Scallops, perfect crab, shrimp, fried rice, perfect only thing and I mean only thing that I did not and was mad about or not mad disappointed that they were not in season with the coconut shrimp service was perfect. I would say that this place is seafood lovers heaven! The seafood is fresh and very good quality. They make it all so delicious and flavorful! It always crowded and long line during the weekend but it’s totally worth it. My favorite is the razor clams, grilled escargot, and sweet & sour fried red tilapia. The hot pot is definitely perfect for the cold winter. For the drink, I would totally recommend coconut kumquat. It’s so sweet and refreshing. The service is fast and the staff is very knowledgeable of their menu. Totally recommend for the seafood lovers and Definitely will be back again!!

4.6/5 ### A Tropical Feast at OC Lau2: Where Thai Flavors Explode in Orange County! Oh, OC Lau2 in Orange County – you've just rocketed to the top of my must-eat list! Tucked away in the heart of this sunny SoCal paradise, this gem delivers a Thai seafood extravaganza that's equal parts indulgent and unforgettable. From the moment I stepped in, the vibrant aromas of lemongrass, coconut, and ocean-fresh bounty had me salivating like a kid in a candy store. If you're craving an escape to Saigon without leaving the OC, this is your ticket – and trust me, you'll be booking your next reservation before the bill even hits the table. Let's start with the **curry goat**, because holy spice heaven, what a revelation! Tender chunks of goat simmered in a velvety red curry that's rich with galangal, kaffir lime, and just the right kick of heat – not overpowering, but enough to wake up every taste bud. The meat melts in your mouth, absorbing flavors that linger like a warm hug from your favorite auntie. Paired with fluffy jasmine rice, it's comfort food elevated to gourmet status. I could eat this every day and never tire. Then, the **king scallops** – oversized, seared to golden perfection with a buttery garlic sauce that screams luxury. These bad boys are plump, sweet, and practically burst with the sea's essence, drizzled in a chili-lime reduction that adds a zesty pop. Each bite is a textural dream: crispy edges giving way to silky centers. If scallops could win Oscars, these would sweep the category. Don't even get me started on the **crab glass noodles** – a tangle of translucent mung bean threads tossed with generous lumps of fresh Dungeness crab, shiitake mushrooms, and a whisper of oyster sauce for that umami bomb. It's light yet satisfying, with the crab's delicate sweetness shining through every forkful. Subtle, elegant, and utterly addictive – I scraped the plate clean and eyed my neighbor's uneaten portion with mock envy. But wait, there's more! The **pineapple fried rice** is a showstopper in its own right – carved from a whole pineapple, golden grains studded with shrimp, cashews, and raisins, all kissed by turmeric and curry powder. It's sweet-savory magic, the kind that makes you forget carbs are a thing to count. And the seafood parade? OC Lau2's **different types of clams** – from littlenecks to Manila – arrive steamed in a fragrant tom yum broth, briny and bursting with ginger and basil. The **escargots**, Thai-style in a spicy coconut curry, transform the humble snail into a garlicky, herb-infused delight that's worlds away from French bistro fare. Fresh **oysters** on the half-shell, shucked tableside with mignonette and ponzu twists, are as pristine as they come – cool, creamy, and straight from Poseidon’s pantry. Finally, the **lobsters** – whole, grilled or stir-fried in black pepper sauce – are a decadent finale, their sweet tail meat clawing its way into your heart (and stomach). Service? Warm and attentive, with staff who know their menu like old friends. Ambiance? Cozy yet lively, with tiki torch vibes that scream al fresco OC evenings. Prices are fair for this level of freshness – we're talking value that punches way above its weight. In a sea of chain spots, OC Lau2 is the real deal: bold, authentic Thai fusion that honors tradition while innovating for the modern palate. I've dined at countless spots from LA to Irvine, but this one? It's the crown jewel. Run, don't walk – your taste buds will thank you. Five stars aren't enough; I'd give it ten if I could. Can't wait for round two!

6/5 I have nothing bad to say about this place at all. Expect wait time but hey the food is fantastic, that’s why people are trying to get in too. Tips: You can go on a wait list on Yelp but the Staff there told me if you’re not eating Hot Pot, you can tell them and they should have a table right away. If you are anywhere near Garden Grove/Little Saigon, make a stop to Oc and Lau for the most delicious Vietnamese seafood meal you will ever have. There are two restaurants (the original location and #2) and we visited both of them on consecutive nights while staying near Disneyland. Both feature the same menu but the #2 location is a much larger space. On the first night, we had house special lobster over egg noodles (don’t miss this - just think about all the delicious lobster juices dripping into the noodles), clams with lemongrass sauce, and pineapple fried rice with shrimp and squid. On the second night we had a mixed seafood hot pot and green mango salad. The hot pot could probably feed three people. The hot pot broth is really special, bursting with deep complex flavors, umami, some sweetness, and a just little chili (mild). To top things off, we were lucky to have Thi provide us with outstanding service on both evenings! Such a nice guy - he gave us good advice on what to order and made our meals very special experiences.

We went during the weekend so, it was quite busy but we were able to get in the sign in list on yelp phone app. The wait times are accurate and felt like it went by quick. We ordered the conch & oysters on the hot plate, this time they were than before but I guess it’s just random. The seafood hot pot had a variety of items: squid, shrimp, fish slices, quail eggs, and greens. Food comes out quick and tastes consistent compared to the many times we’ve been before. There’s a large parking lot, most of the spaces nearest the shops are labeled compact.

A local friend took us to Oc & Lau 2 on a weekday night — the place was absolutely packed, which surprised us at first, but made perfect sense once the food arrived. Totally worth the hype. Honestly, I can’t think of anything comparable in the Bay Area. 🤤 We were a group of five and skipped the hotpot, ordering nine seafood dishes instead — and we finished every single one. Everything was incredible. The seafood stir fried glass noodles were my personal favorite — chewy, flavorful, and loaded with toppings. The creamy clams with bread were like a Vietnamese twist on clam chowder — rich, buttery, and served with soft, pillowy bread that soaked up the sauce perfectly. The grilled king scallops with fish roe had a totally unique texture — unlike any scallop I’ve had before, in a good way. Most dishes leaned sweet, spicy, and a little tangy, with generous amounts of crispy fried garlic — bold and addictive. I also tried the coconut kumquat drink — a bit too sweet for me (I usually don’t drink sweet beverages), but still really tasty. Full of intense kumquat flavor and loaded with fresh coconut meat. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys sweet drinks. These days I’ve started being more selective with where I spend money dining out — too many places just aren’t as good as they used to be. But this meal was absolutely worth it. We have thought about when we can come to LA again so we can revisit this restaurant. Also, bonus points for lighting: bright enough for great food photos. I’ll never understand those upscale restaurants that serve beautiful dishes in near darkness 😅

Foods is always good here. However, we were very disappointed that they no longer have banana blossom salad. Which we purposely came back for and we traveled from NYC. Dessert were given to us for free after our meal that was very good. Service and vibe are great and we will come back again. We had shaken beef with noodles, grilled scallops, mangoes salad, garlic snails, crabs fried rice. Foods are delicious.

The food here is consistently fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. Seafood: From the raw grill to tamarind, garlic, and salted egg sauces… everything pairs perfectly with the seafood. The seafood with huge size, clean, and there’s absolutely no fishy smell, which speaks volumes about the quality. I wish I remembered the names of the dishes we ordered, but trust me everything hits the spot! Hot Pot: We also had the Chilean Sea Bass hot pot. The fish was incredibly fresh. It shrinks a bit while cooking but stays juicy and tender. The broth is the real rich and flavorful, with fresh vegetables that round out the dish beautifully. Drinks: Highly recommend the Fresh Coconut and Kumquat Juice. Refreshing and the perfect match for the savory food. Quick tip: Get in line online via Yelp before you go. But don’t forget to check in with the receptionist when you arrive, or your turn might be skipped even if you’re physically there. The wait to get inside can be a little long, but once you’re seated, the food comes out pretty fast. Only downside? That long wait line makes me hesitate to come back too often, but honestly, the food is so good that it’s still worth it. Highly recommend!

In front of the restaurant there are tables and chairs. Make sure to write your name on the clipboard, located on the table outside. We waited about 20 minutes to get seated on a weekday night. ~Drinks~ I got the Fresh Coconut drink, it was refreshing. ~Food~ We got complimentary soy beans marinated with garlic. When it was time to order we got two garlic fried rice. It was very garlicky and had dry garlic pieces. The Bo Luc Lac is filet Mignon with garlic. It was cooked medium well and very tender. I liked the flavor of the onions. What I was looking forward to was the Canh Ga Chien Gion which is fried and crispy chicken wings with garlic sauce. It was sweet and flavorful. The Goi Cuon Ca Salmon is salmon belly roll (4 pieces) that came with mint, cucumber, vermicelli, tamarind sauce and rolled in rice paper. We couldn't really taste the salmon. ~Customer Service~ Quick and friendly. We spoke to Theresa who is the Manager, she is very nice. ~Notes~ ~Parking lot ~Indoor seating

Wonderful impulse dinner. Clay pots are worth it more than I'd say the noodle dish I got. The pork belly is tender and delicious. The sauce was perfect, and the rice had a nice crisp to it. The noodle dish was a bit on the dry side and lighter in flavor, but tasty and filling none the less. Service was on point even with a language barrier and even helped us with the name pronunciation. If I had to rate out of ten, I'd say 8.5 for the noodles and 9 for the pork. Definitely stop in.

A nice clean restaurant competing with OC and Lau next door. The grilled scallops were tasty but very small scallops so fairly pricey. The vegetable on choy with pork belly and snail was a disappointment as the snail was over cooked and very chewy and there was not very much fat pork and the shrimp paste was not good with the snail slices. The fried toothpick lamb was well seasoned with a nice cumin taste but was also a bit too overfried taking away tenderness and moisture, but a good portion. View my pictures

All the dishes were very tasty but maybe too tasty as I suspect a lot of salt and our MSG as I've never been so thirsty. Service was friendly and prompt. I would rank the dishes I ordered 1. Sea Snails $15 - very meaty 2. Clams $16 - bit sweet but flavorful 3. On choy (rau muốn xào tỏi) $17 - small portion for the price 4. Razor clams $16 - Very small portion Recommend you eat everything while they're hot/warm. After it cools down it gets very rubbery and firm.

Garlic and Chives is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the OC area. Restaurant, including the restrooms is clean. Service is prompt and courteous. Lots of parking available in the plaza lot. We have been lucky to come at times when they are not that busy, but I imagine that they would get pretty packed during peak hours. As for the food, everything on their menu is great. We only wish that they also served pho, simply because we love pho and thats literally the only thing that they are missing! Yes, there are tons of pho places in the area, but if they added it to their menu, it would be heaven as all our favorite Vietnamese dishes would be served in one restaurant! Only reason for subtracting one star is due to the price compared to the size of the dishes. You can actually see how the prices keep being increased as there are price stickers stacked on top of each other on their menu. *Cries in California*

The papaya salad was very bright and fun and paired great with the crispy (shrimp?) chips. I just wish there was more chips. Loved the bo luc lac and how saucy it was. The garlic noodles were... kinda unremarkable and felt very one dimensional. Service was fine and we enjoyed our time here. Definitely get the salmon belly. So amazingly crispy and flavorful! Taste :4.4/5 Environment: 4.2/5 Service:4.1/5 Garlic and Chives is located at the Brookhurst Place Shopping Center, next to the 22 freeway. The restaurant has a casual and cozy atmosphere, with wooden tables and chairs, colorful paintings on the walls, and a large menu board. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the service is quick and efficient. You can order online or by phone, or dine in if you prefer. One of the highlights of Garlic and Chives is their mango salad, which is one of their signature dishes. The mango salad is made with shredded green mango, carrots, onions, cilantro, peanuts, fried shallots, and a tangy dressing. It is served with crispy shrimp crackers and grilled pork skewers. The salad is refreshing, crunchy, and sweet, with a hint of spiciness from the dressing. The shrimp crackers add a nice contrast of texture and flavor, and the pork skewers are tender and smoky. You can also choose from other salads on their menu, such as papaya salad, lotus root salad, or banana blossom salad.

Garlic and Chives at 9892 Westminster Blvd. #311, Garden Grove, located in the Mall of Fortune, is a top-tier spot for incredible Vietnamese food in a lively and welcoming setting. The moment you step in, you’re greeted with a bustling, energetic vibe, reminiscent of the late-night food culture in Vietnam, where people gather to eat, drink, and enjoy good company. The food here is bursting with flavor, expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and bold seasonings. Some standout dishes include their crispy salmon belly, garlic butter wings, and shaken beef—each dish perfectly balanced in taste and texture. Whether you’re here for a casual meal or a feast with friends, the menu has something for everyone. Service is quick and attentive, and the portion sizes are generous, making it a great value for the quality you get. If you're looking for a place that brings the spirit of Vietnamese dining to life, Garlic and Chives is a must-visit in Garden Grove! 🍽️🇻🇳🔥

The food is just ok, nothing is outstanding. But very good service. The tables are divided and separated by the large size of clear plastic walls. I don’t like the butter fried chicken and crunchy salmon belly, they were too much greasy. I love shredded dried beef papaya salad, so delicious. The hot stone pot with pork is good with rice. The fried tofu is boring. Honestly maybe I didn’t order the right plates, our dinner were not as we expected.

A very fun restaurant for seafood lovers. The menu is very extensive, so there's a lot of items to try. They specialize in shellfish, so we were most excited to try those items. The razor clams are pretty popular, but they weren't in stock when we were here at 5 pm (I hear they often are sold out quick). The King Scallop with roe were probably our favorite, but they were quite pricey at $27 for 4. We also got the garlic fatty snail, which I thought was a little heavy on the butter, but still tasted great, especially adding some of the lime and salt provided. The deep fried soft shell crab was a little disappointing - super heavy on the breading (maybe should've ordered the tempura one instead) and the flavors were inconsistent. Some of the crabs had a lot more crab roe than others and were more flavourful. The crab/shrimp fried rice was very tasty, but the shrimps were just okay. The shaken beef with egg noodles was decent - the beef itself was a little tough, but the egg noodles were splendid and my favourite part. Some other things to note - no water was provided, but after asking for some, they did bring some out after a bit of a wait. There was also a complementary dessert at the end that was actually one of my favorite items of the night. It was a small bowl of coconut milk, red bean and jelly and had a lovely sweet/salty flavor. Overall, would come back to try other items. We didn't try the hotpot items this time, but we heard that those are great value and tasty as well.

My first visit at Oc and lau did not disappoint! I paid a visit mostly to try the shellfish items that are fairly popular in Vietnam, and everything tasted delicious and so nostalgic. The salted egg sauce was extremely buttery and rich, a taste that can feel a bit overbearing after a couple of snails. The butter sauce for the clams was our favorite, along with the fresh bread that it came with!

This place serves some not so commonly found vietnamese seafood, bbq style. They have razor clams, which are not that common in LA and few places serve these clams. They are also not usually sold in markets. Everything I ordered were decent, but the portions are too small for the price. All the food in the pictures (7 dishes) were for 4 people, and I was still very hungry afterwards. The basil clams was disappointing however. Many other restaurants can make just as good, if not better, basil clams using larger manila clams at the same price. The razor clams were good, but I would still prefer it steamed with garlic and vermicelli (more of a chinese style to cook them) as it preserves more of the fresh natural juices and flavors from the clams. The scallops tastes good, but very tiny. The snails were decent, although the taste was on the lighter side. If you want decent vietnamese style seafood but a lighter appetite, this would be a good place as there aren't too many restaurant choices serving the same flare.

Serving size was not as big as I thought. The food was okay. We ordered 8 dishes for 6 people and were barely full.

Came at 3 to avoid the lunch and dinner crowds. I wasn't impressed by the food considering the high ratings posted. Both the chicken wings and the fried salmon belly were dry. Sea snails were somewhat flavorless and could've used more garlic butter. The remaining dishes weren't really memorable and service was as expected from an Asian restaurant.

The food looks good but the taste was disappointing. Toothpick lamb was flavorful, however, half the dish was too chewy to eat. Fried salmon belly is good but after 4/5 bites, it feels too greasy; would be better if it’s paired with a salad. Filet and egg, the beef was supposed to be medium but it was received as well done; over cooked. Scallops, looks very pretty, but also over cooked. Garlic noodles and prawns tasted okay, would taste better if the restaurants cold air didn’t make the dish cold in less than 5 minutes. For $85 on 5 dishes and non-existent service; I would not return. Best part of the meal we’re the fresh drinks.

It had a 2019 Michelin mention. What went wrong!! Did ownership changed? Did the chef changed? We ordered three dishes and every one of them were blah or just sad. I seldom give bad reviews. Mostly because I do try to get restaurants before I go there. I think the previous owner must have cashed out and didn’t give the secret ingredient or technique for the recipes. Please do better.

Michelin Guide recognized for multiple years in the past. I'm missing something here because my dining experience was not as expected given the high ratings. Upon entering, we noticed an extremely strong, fishy smell, like fish sauce. Surprisingly, there was no wait on a Saturday night. We were promptly seated and order taken within a timely manner. Food arrived to the table fairly quick, too. Our meal consisted of: •Salmon belly chien gion/deep fried salmon belly: ok •Muc lan bot/deep fried calamari: too oily, low quality •Rau cai be cuon with tom, thit: refreshing, different take on a goi cuon but without the noodles or spring roll wrap •Canh cai chua suon/pickled mustard greens soup with pork bones: too sweet, meat questionable •Rau muong xao oc huong/stir fried ong choy with sea snails: small portion, too sweet, sea snails too tough and hard None of the entrees came with white rice. It was an additional $3 per bowl. We didn't enjoy our meal at all. It was one of the most disappointing meals we've had.

I've heard so much about this place so I finally decided to come try it! It was packed when we walked in so presumably this place is a hot hit! Service is what is lacking here - I understand they are extremely busy but I ordered two items (grilled king scallops and the tiger prawn glass noodle). The wait was long to get a table (waitlist through yelp available). We finally got a table at 6:40 pm and put in our orders. It's been one hour and our food still isn't made yet. The food finally came out after asking them multiple times after 90 min wait. Food- the grilled king scallops taste as they are expected, nothing mind blowing or amazing. The tiger prawn glass noodles as well Ambiance - casual, great for family dinners Overall my experience was the food was pretty average and the wait was extremely long making the experience unpleasant when you have somewhere to go after. Given there are so many restaurants nearby, would much rather go elsewhere. Off note, a Vietnamese friend noted when they were here last time they had food poisoning which is why I avoided the raw food this time

The Chardonnay they served was utterly awful—flat, vinegar-tasting, and frankly insulting for a place that dares to claim fine dining status. What’s worse, the staff’s response to our complaint was we don’t know much about wine, as if we should just accept whatever substandard product they decided to serve. The lack of accountability and attention to detail was shocking, especially for a restaurant boasting a Michelin star.

Please read this and other reviews! Do not waste your money and time! All the seafood were over cooked. The shrimp tasted like rubber. The noodle was super sweet it felt like eating sugar. The clay pot fish was sooo salty and tasted only soya source. They must have changed management or chefs. It is a joke if they are any remotely closer to a Michelin standard. I’d say fast food chains have better food🥵

INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!! TLDR: Save your time and money. Go to the original location. Lack of accountability*** Preface: Visiting from Virginia. Wait time - 1hr 20min. Visited original location a few months previously. Excited to be visiting California again, my friend (her first time) and I decided to go to OC and Lau for dinner. I wanted her to experience the amazing food that I was able to previously. Unbeknownst to us, the original location is closed on Tuesdays. Naturally, we decided to visit OC and Lau 2. After waiting a horrendous time to be seated (popular, not their fault), we ordered right away as I knew which items were top tier. * Steamed tom yum clams * Steamed lemon grass clams * Creamy salted egg yolk dotted escargot * Coconut swirly escargot with basil leaves. Immediately after receiving the lemon grass clams, I thought a mistake was made. The taste was wildly different than before. I asked my server for confirmation and that was in fact the correct dish. Thinking that I had made a mistake, I looked at my receipt from months before, and again it was in fact the correct dish. Upon tasting the egg yolk escargot and coconut escargot I was immediately dissatisfied. The flavor was subpar from the original location. The only saving grace was the tom yum clams. *** I then asked a staff member regarding this and was informed that a multitude of customers had the same complaint. The reasoning was that the chefs were different. I was appalled and irritated by this response. Especially, due to the price point and popularity of this restaurant you would expect some quality control and accountability but they were nowhere to be found. We spent almost $100 after tip for 4 items and 2 beers. To travel 2,600 miles across the country, excited to treat myself to a nice meal, and then met with a subpar experience was not on my end of 2025 agenda. Especially since I've had the real deal. Incredibly sad to leave this review as I honestly really love this place. However, I do believe that there should be transparency for all those coming to try this 2nd location.

Westminster Avenue: El Corazón Pulsante de Little Saigon
