Busy busy but they serve their dabomb homemade cooking dishes. Go for the Quetzal Special when you are in mood for it. And daily special is worth to grab!
Birria burrito was amazing. The salsas were all delicious and the pickled red onions. Awesome atmosphere and service. Looking forward to a returning.
I had their Faujita lunch special today. Good price, great taste, and huge amount. Very good place for Mexican food!
First time here. Loved the place! Per server's recommendation ordered the Scarface Margarita. Fantastic! Service great. Food ...makes me want to come back and try other than the appetizers. Highly recommend.
Food has been better than their other restaurant la costa for a while now. Atmosphere is good. The GM is great and his little boy is super cute handing out menus. The food is really good. They also have the best bathroom I’ve ever seen in a restaurant, the baby changing station is a really nice personal touch that seemed well thought out with the pads and diaper geni. The molcajete is bomb and comes on a cool dish in a lava stone.
Awesome little place hidden away a bit. Food is delicious, drinks even better. But the best thing about this place is the service, the father son duo (im assumming here) is great. Such great service and attentive. Plus he has these apple pie shots that are to die for.
Our new favorite Mexican food restaurant. If you miss the El Sombrero in Claycomo or Rosie’s Cochina in Riverside, then you will love Quetzal. Super friendly staff, great food, and speedy service. Give them a try, you’ll be glad you did!
Husband and I found this place by accident and it was a happy accident at that. Very very good food and amazing service. Will be back! Loved the atmosphere too!
Quetzal's Trivia Night was fun! Their Trivia Host has a great voice with fun trivia questions. The prizes for top 3 teams are really good! The food and drinks were REALLY GREAT, delicious! The staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely visit often and will return for another trivia night.
This place hit all 3 of our requirements: Great chips & salsa, great food, great margaritas! It’s so hard to find a Mexican restaurant that hits all the criteria but this is THE place to go for an all around amazing meal. The flaming fajitas and black margaritas are our go-to. Go support them, you won’t be disappointed!
What a delightful lunch at Quetzal! The service, portion sizes, and food quality were outstanding. Donis was an exceptional server—attentive and truly service-oriented. We'll definitely return!
We're originally from Texas, so finding GOOD Mexican food wasn't easy. Honestly, it took years. Quetzal Mexican Restaurant fills the bill. I got the Birria Burrito this trip and it's outstanding. The #24 Combination is a favorite. Happy Hour house Margaritas 2 for 1. Family business, great people.
We’ve been to quite a few Mexican restaurants throughout Missouri and this is by far the best place we’ve been! The manager was excellent, the food was fresh, the queso 10/10!, and the margaritas was amazing! Would recommend this place to anyone!
Well needed Mexican restaurant for the area. Great service and food. I had the burrito deluxe. Very similar to other Mexican restaurants in the area, but was quick and tasted great.
My wife and I have gone here in person and ordered take out ever since this place opened. We have NEVER had a bad experience. We have tried multiple dishes on the menu and everything is delicious and large portions for the price. (Also their salsas are some of the best ive ever had at a mexican restaurant) Its a hidden gem of Parkville and I hope that more people catch on to how great it is and it stays for a long time.
A hidden gem in KC. Quetzal has become one of our favorite Mexican food restaurants in the metro. We visit once or twice (when we’re lucky) a week. The jalisco burrito and fajitas are solid options. We were recently offered to try their homemade “Mexican Apple Pie” cocktail. We purchased a bottle after the sample and have shared it with several friends who’ve also found it delicious.
Just tried Quetzal for the first time and it was amazing! Might be the best margarita I’ve had in Kansas City. The chips, salsa, and espinaca were perfection, and the entrees didn’t disappoint. The wait staff was attentive and didn’t miss a beat. We’ll be returning!
Wow! What a gem! Great food, great service and huge margaritas! We had a party of six, so it took a while to be seated, but it was well worth the wait. Donis was very gracious and continued to touch base as we waited, which was very appreciated. Our server, Luis, was fantastic! Nice, attentive and very professional to the point that we felt we were his only table, though he had several. The decor and atmosphere was bright and festive. They have beautiful murals painted on the walls which extends even into the ladies room, which, by the way, has a well equipped baby changing station. A great experience and a fantastic place to dine!
This place was AMAZING! Visiting in town so I have never heard of this place. The environment is beautiful with a lot of color and murals all over the walls, I love that they have a little table setup with little treats you can buy at the front and, there were plenty of good deals and specials! Our server was a young gentleman who was extremely proper, polite and had great service! I ordered the Birria Burrito and it was the best burrito I have eaten across four Midwest states! The complementary chips and salsa were great and the diverse flavor options were nice. I’m usually not a refried bean person but these beans had some PIZAZZ! To them! Everything was delicious and I highly recommend!
No wait when we arrived. Food was really good. Service was great. I've had better margaritas but I'm not complaining. Check them out
We had the California Burrito and the Barria Tacos. Food was really good with one exception. The refried beans taste like someone mistook cups for teaspoons with liquid smoke or they forgot about them and left them in the smoker with the brisket for 12 hours. I enjoy a good smokey taste on meats but on these beans it was way too much. I’ll be back but do hope they take the smoke out of the beans. The barria tacos were filled nicely with roast and cheese and the consume was great. My wife and son split the burrito and both will order again. Cheese sauce, salsas, chips, were all winners. Glad they are near by. Maybe if the owner is attached to the Smokey beans, offer them as an option. But have unsmoked as standard.
Margaritas could be better, but the chips and salsa make up for it. Same with the food. Had the combo plate tamale fried taco and chicken enchilada. For a taco Tuesday this place was no wait right after happy hour. Pretty chill vibe, decently sized bar to boot.
My wife and I enjoy all of the flavors Kansas City has to offer and dine out 3-4 times a week. Recently Quetzal hit our radar so went. We went on the perfect day because the team was well understaffed and the restaurant with a capacity of 115 had 40 or so seated and 2 personnel serving. Yet the manager (excuse me I forgot his name) kept all customers serviced and everyone seems to understand “island time”. We will be regulars.
I've been trying the specials out at Quetzel to-go most of the time. I've been 3 times so far and the Monday special of Birra Queso tacos was good enough for me to turn around and come right back the next day to try the street tacos on special. I'd say it's really good that I started with Monday because I wouldn't have ever come back again for the street tacos honestly. They didn't even give me lime wedges so they were super dry. The third time I went back for the special I caught on that the kid had been charging me full price for every special I ordered. So you're gonna need to watch out for the bill. When asked if he could help fix the bill from the previous week he just said no. My mistake for not catching his mistake I guess. The salsa's are very good but super small and when you ask for more or just one particular version it seems lost in translation as well as specifics on sides that have been wrong multiple times. I did explain that when I picked up my order the second time and the guy just stood there looking at me. I stated " I guess I'm just stuck with this side then." Got no real response so I left with the sides I didn't order. I have given them a chance to clean the floors before I gave my review but I think how clean the place is kind of a concern after 3 trips in I have always walked across sticky floors and leaned on a sticky bar. Not sure I want to see the kitchen. Food seems to be great but stay away from the street tacos and lower expectations for service and you will do fine.
