Opinions de El Sauz Glendale
I used to eat at El Sause before they moved in to the present location about 35-36 years ago. The owner of this place used to serve just across the street from a lunch truck. The food was great then just as it is now. My favorite is the Torta just the way it comes with everything. Grilled serrano peppers and red salsa on the side. They used to serve grilled jalapenos before but it's all good.
I have been coming here for over 15 years and not a day goes by that I would say anything negative. Love the crew like my family. Best tacos and food in all of Los Angeles. Keep up the great work and service guys.
Amazing Authentic Mexican without all the frills. Food is Loaded with tons of flavor. Ive had the queadilla, ceviches, and the tacos and everything was so delicious. I went multiple times while in Glendale visiting family.
Some of the best street tacos out there. A gem in Glendale. Doubling down on this review a year later. If you live in Glendale, the it's a must!
delicious and fast. red salsa and green salsa are so bomb! i got asada tacos and pollo tacos it was delicious. they r small in size so get an extra one than you’d normally order!
Absolutely delicious! Decided to come down from norcal, wanted some legit tacos. These tacos were perfect could've eaten 20 more! Gonna stop here every trip now.
It's obvious when you see how long the line is that Ya just might be in for a good meal. This place is packed every night. The tortas are bombalicious. Tacos are great. Traditional, fresh radishes, scorched peppers. Nobody paid me to say this neither am I employed there.
I've been coming here forever. I ve tried everything in their menu. Just stick to the carne asada burritos with your choice of salsa. Everything else is alright, but just the burrito alone this place gets five stars.
Love love love this place. Best carne asada burritos!!! It's always so juicy and their green salsa is the best! Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for a burrito.
Great food, love their tortas and tacos. It’s always crowded with people because the food is that good. They cook and prep everything right before your eyes. Very friendly and clean environment.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Sauz Tacos in Glendale, and I must say it was a delightful experience. This small, unassuming joint packs a punch when it comes to delicious Mexican food. My personal favorite is the carne asada burrito, and it never disappoints. The flavors are authentic and mouthwatering, making every bite a true delight. The quality of the ingredients and the care put into preparing the food really shine through. One thing to note is that they only accept cash, so be sure to have some on hand when you visit. While this may be a drawback for some, it's well worth it for the incredible food they serve. The staff is friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive dining experience. If you're a fan of authentic Mexican cuisine and don't mind paying in cash, El Sauz Tacos is a must-visit in Glendale. I'll definitely be returning for more of those amazing carne asada burritos!"
No word to describe the food there. No less than incredibly delicious, spicy, and full of Mexican flaved tacos, burritos. A must-have if you are cruising by Glendale. However, their burritos are now smaller than ever. Inflation is making them deflate.
I was sitting at a red light starving and thinking of what I was going to eat when I look to my left and I see this place. Quickly I looked at the reviews and they all said it was delicious. They were absolutely right! The menu is not huge but everything that they do have is some of the most delicious Mexican food I've ever had. Not too much not too little. But just right also the person behind the counter was very friendly. Will definitely be coming back even though I don't live here.
DEEEEEEELICIOUS!!!!! Most authentic burrito I’ve ever eaten! So juicy and spicy. Such great sauce Mmmmmm. A juicy burrito paired with a creamy horchata is the best combo u could get!
If we’re being honest, this is the best taco spot in all of Los Angeles. I have lived here for 30+ years and trust me when I say this.
By far some of the best tacos that I have ever had in the Los Angeles area!! This place is for sure going to be a new favorite of mine now!! We were craving some good street tacos, and came across this place as a recommended spot in the Glendale area. We decided to give it a go, and were also pleased to find that they had ample parking available around the restaurant - a rarity around Los Angeles!! I've seen other reviews complain about the dining area. All I have to say to that is, seriously? This is an authentic Mexican taco spot, it's not going to be trendy or hipster or aesthetic. They have a simple dining area with mostly tables that seat about four people, and is kept relatively clean. You order at a counter and have to pay with cash, but that's fine with me, because the food here is quite cheap. Tacos are less than $2, which is always a surprise here in Los Angeles. Now, on to the tacos themselves. The tacos here are amazing. Definitely on par with some of the best street tacos that I've ever had. Perfect toppings, beautifully cooked meat, just the right amount of spice with the salsa. The cool, crisp radishes that they provide with the tacos are a great contrast to the spice as well. I loved El Sauz Tacos! It will now definitely be at the top of my list for spots to grab some excellent and cheap street tacos from! I'm very pleased!
Love this place! One of my all time favorite Mexican places. I usually get their burritos or tacos. Friends have tried the ceviche and other plates and they liked them. I also like their horchata. Highly recommend this place, very small so we always get to-go.
Best tacos and burritos in Glendale, and maybe all of LA. There's always a line, but it goes fast and it's worth it! Cash only! So bring at least $20-$30 for three or so people. There's an ATM, but then you're dealing with bank fees. They have these awesome soft dry cookies at the counter for three for a dollar. They're are awesome with coffee later that night or the next day. (My son, the Vegan, loves their veggie burrito - gotta ask for no cheese - to be vegan).
Came here for the 1st time. Mark was the kindest & most professional cashier/Server!! Good for the $
Best tacos and burritos in the city and for a great price. They are consistently putting out great food. I have been frequenting this place for many years and they have never let me down!
Wow the food is great not dry I had a carne asada burrito easy beans it was enjoyable if your ever in the city of Glendale that's the spot to have lunch or dinner
Amazing food. I use to go there almost everyday when I was working in that area. After 7 years I went back and everything was the same. Taste quality the lady who takes orders. Price went up but that's something they can't control that much. 🙏
I found this place by accident, on my way to find a taco truck I had visited earlier in the week. After finding the taco truck was not in the same place (days later), I started heading back to my hotel and stumbled upon this gem! The parking lot was packed. Their Al Pastor and Lengua were both AMAZING! Their burritos are big (and delicious), and you have to try their quesadillas too. Also a bonus.....the staff are very helpful and sweet! Highly recommended to anyone that loves authentic Mexican food or just loves tacos like I do.
Best tortas and tacos everrr!!!! My co-workers and I are always eating from this place. It does get crazy busy at lunch time so I suggest to order over the phone before getting there. The guy at the counter is always friendly and nice. They only accept cash, but they conveniently have an ATM inside. Once you try them you won’t want to eat tacos any where else!! 😬
A hidden gem! This place is pretty tiny, cash-only restaurant with a couple small cafeteria-style tables (think fast-food restaurants) inside and a few outside. I always order take out because the dining area is not great and the view outside is of a busy street. However, the delicious food and very reasonable prices make up for the lack of ambiance! Their tacos are my favorites, but their chicken quesadilla is pretty amazing too. Also love their horchata!
COVID REVIEW: Service was quick. The staff was friendly. They will have you order from the inside and you will pick up your order from a window outside the store (which I think is smart to avoid crowding up inside their supposedly dining area pre-covid). Food was good and I really enjoyed the Torta.
Helped me and my friend out during Summer, takes only cash tho.
Great local taco and burrito spot. Highly recommended.
The place is very basic, but their food is delicious. You can’t go wrong with their burritos, tortas, or tacos. It’s my favorite Mexican food location in Glendale. Other places are good, but this is where I come to when I’m craving an asada burrito or torta.
Might be the best burrito I’ve ever had. My buddy and I split two burritos, the carne asada & el pastor. The flour tortilla was perfection. The pinto bean, onion & cilantro, and meat were perfectly juicy and had amazing flavor. The side of grilled Serrano peppers and radishes were also top notch.
My family and I came after we left the Zoo Lights Event. First off, we got some of THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I've gotten in a looooooooong time. The guy taking orders, I think his name was Andy, was so freaking nice. We were a big group of 9, and mostly kids who were ordering slowly and making special requests and he was so accommodating. The food was freshly cooked and really good and the portions were just right. 10/10. When I'm in the area again, I'm definitely going back.
As a first-time reviewer, I'm excited to share my thoughts on my beloved taco and burrito spot. This family-owned gem boasts a friendly staff and has become my go-to place. I can't resist their flavorful carne asada burritos, tacos, and tortas. With years of establishment in the neighborhood, it's my top choice whenever I'm nearby. Their red sauce, though delicious, packs a spicy punch. Nevertheless, this Mexican burrito joint will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Wanted simple and good tacos and El Sauz Tacos was the place to go. It’s hard to find tacos nowadays that are under $2 so that definitely was a plus. We had a few carne asada tacos each and shared some shrimp ceviche. It is cash only so come prepared, but if not they do have a little ATM. The tacos were served with salsa, lemon, radish, and a pepper. The ceviche was a nice refreshing bite in between tacos. Definitely recommend.
The food is always amazing. My favorite Mexican spot in LA would not go anywhere else. If I'm an hour away I'll still make the drive 2 hours away. I will still make the drive it. It is that good!
This is a classic great hole in the wall. Cash only Taco stand that deserves more accolades than it gets but the locals know what's up. Cash only. Parking is easy.
first time trying authentic Mexican food. It was very good. Can't wait to go again!
Best place not a ton of veg option but love their veg burrito, cash only a must go when my bf and I are in the area
Great food I really love their Asada and the burrito and tortilla is really good
One of my 3 favorite tacos shops in glendale. This place is always packed so I always get it to go. My favorite is their carne asada, this is the only place I've tasted where the meat has the right amount tenderness to chewy ratio. They know how to do asadas. It's usually best to take it to-go as their dining space is limited and its cash only.
I tried the carnival burrito, it fantastic. The staf was very friendly. Remember, the only take cash!
Small spot driving by you might miss it but definitely a place you want to stop. If you're in Glendale, they had one on Colorado and one on San Fernando you gotta try it
El Sauz has been my favorite taco hut for 20+ years! They're under new'ish ownership and the food is still great as usual! I LOVE their ceviche and veggie burritos!
This spot makes some of the best tacos al pastor I’ve had outside Mexico City. The trompo is right by the counter, and the meat is always juicy. The salsa bar is fully stocked, which I appreciate. Parking is a bit tough in their small lot, but it’s worth it. A true gem in Glendale
Every time I’m in LA this is my go to spot! The burritos are delicious! Their meat is A1 top notch!
I got their Torta with el pastor meat. It had in in it Beans, Avocado, Tomato Onions, Cilantro, Mayo & Salsa. The bread was nice and toasted and I have to say this thing had some good flavor. I added the jalapeño that they give you on the side inside the torta to add some more heat. I highly recommend trying the torta here they are so good only downside is they can be messy and the meat and beans fall out.
Wow!! What an experience here at El Sauz Tacos! Al is a Beast!! He handles the phones and walk up customers with Ease. Even when the line is packed! A True Gentlemen (and he kinda looks like Mac Miller R.I.P.!) Along with Service being Top Notch, their food was Out of This World!! We 4 burritos and dang, were they fantastic!! Interestingly enough, Al made a recommendation of two meats and each one of us took a recommendation of the dual meat option!! And these weren't little burritos either. For $8, you got a burrito CRAMMED with flavor!! In fact, my burrito was in my Top 5 favourite Burritos of All Time!! You can tell the minute you walk into El Sauz Tacos that you're in for a treat. When we got there, Every Table was taken! The steady flow of customers was the next tell tale sign that El Sauz Tacos is Not your average Mexican Restaurant. Try the Horchata there too, if you like. It was sooo tasty and refreshing!! Can't wait to go back!

El Sauz has hands down the best tacos and burritos in Glendale! The flavor is truly authentic Mexican, and every bite tastes fresh.\n\nOn top of that, the service is always friendly and welcoming.

Very delicious food , customer service sucks , when the owner is there the service is great but the lady cashier is rude .
Service is great, the women behind the counter is sweet and helpful. I got the asada burrito and man that may be one of the best burritos I've ever had. So good
Had a craving for tacos and found this place. Tacos were great! Friendly service.\nCash only and parking available
More authentic and prices are amazing. And it's open late. The perfect combination. Ps the horchata is crack. So good!
I had a great, no-frills tostada pescado and carne asada quesadilla. No ambience at all, but there's no need with food this good.
The best breakfast burritos!! I especially love the homemade salsas- green is my favorite. I've also had the asada burrito and ceviche tostada. All delicious and made to order.
This cash-only spot is a gem both in price and quality. \n\nI got a taco of almost every kind of meat, and each meat was cooked perfectly and uniquely. The chicken had its own flavor and seasoning,…
The food was full of flavors and tasty. The service was quick. The ambiance was very Mexicano.

Amazing taste for carne asada in the USA. It tasted same as mexican burritos. It is very rarely to find carne asada with the quality and taste of meat that you can have in Tijuana. The only thing I didn't give them 5 start is because they RARELY ANSWER THE PHONE. But other than that you should definetely try the burritos.
This is a 3.5 star Mexican food Wasn't a fan of the salsa or the cheap rice in my burrito 🌯
El Sauz Tacos is one of the best hole in the wall taco spots near Glendale, or even Hollywood. Their food is always on point, always full of flavor, and you always are satisfied with their quality of food. I love their carne asada and their taco's. I would recommend trying pretty much everything on their menu. The only thing I would say to make it 5 stars again would be to open till 2am like before. I think since the covid 19 pandemic, they started closing earlier which in my opinion sucks! Stay open late!
They are super busy so expect to 1.order and 2. Get your food. Total wait time was about 20 min. But they are nice about it and communicate it to you. Once we got our food, (tacos de lengua, asada and Al Pastor) it was absolutely delicious.
The only problem with El Sauz Tacos is that way to many people go there, so there is always a line. The burritos are the size of a 7 day old pitbull puppy and they taste great. Plus it’s the only place I know where you can still get lunch for under $5 with the ceviche. Well worth the time spent waiting for your food.
This tiny restaurant blows me away. No matter what time I go by, there is always a line of people waiting to get their order and be seated. So I finally went in and ordered lingua tacos just to see.what the hype was all about. I wasn't disappointed...the food was excellent, it was prepared quickly and served with a smile.
Great spot for Mexican food in Glendale. I recommend their carne asada torta and quesadilla. I feel like portion sizes have gone down in recent years. Their jamaica agua fresca is also very good. Seating is very limited and dining area is small.
I am in between ratings here… the burritos are really good! Their food is typically very good but my most recent experience we had a very dry and old meat which made it very difficult to eat and enjoy our burritos. I would recommend it but try to go during the weekend not week days towards the end of the night… you might end up with day old meat.

Food is consistently good! prices are fair and they have multiple locations!\nGoing here for a while now I would recommend it !
I would rather try some other time again and see if the food is good here. Last time I had a burrito I didn't like it. The taco was good though. But not on my recommendation. I don't know why others prefer it
The food is good but a little expensive for what you get. And they only take cash (ATM Inside). If you're lazy, pressed for time, got money like that or just want to support then go for it. Otherwise you'll come off better making burritos and tacos at home.
It is agreeable that having so many 5 Star reviews isn't always a good indicator, or maybe it is because of those who just don't know any better. This place is not the bomb nor is it the best place along San Fernando Boulevard. Although this place is popular in the land of the Kebabs and you will find the local fire engine parked out front, but do beware the locals seem to love the maskless look while waiting for their numbers to be called out. The portions are on par, but the Asada, Pollo, and other proteins are not seasoned well. You'll get a nicely prepared Burrito or Taco, but you will need the salsa to deliver up some flavor in every bite. They are generous in the accompanying trimmings. A takeaway order will give you salsa, limes, and grilled serrano peppers. The service is great and they are opened late if some Mexican-style foods are what you may be craving. Again, there are some better options in this city and elsewhere on San Fernando Road.
The food was basic. I had 3 tacos al pastor, asada and chicken. The Jamacia was very good.
Just your run of the mill taco place. I've had worse and I've had better, in LA I've had much better. For an $11 burrito, it's hard not to compare it to chipotle. My complaint with Chipotle burritos is that they stuff their burritos with rice and beans, and yet the burritos here are smaller, have less meat, and more beans than a burrito at Chipotle. A pastor burrito should be at the very least be 30% pastor, I shouldn't have to doubt if I got a bean and cheese instead of a pastor burrito. Flavor wise, it's just what you'd expect, but I'd honestly rather go to King Taco for the value and the portions. If they fix their portions I'd understand giving a higher rating. It's cash only, which makes it even more annoying that they fill their food with fillers like beans and cheese.
Needed a taco fix and with the good reviews I thought id give this place a try. First off, parking is terrible everyone that isn't visiting the restaurant parks here and people must think they own the place because they park where ever they want, just because they drive a lambo, really? Cash only, ordered 5 tacos and took 25mins, not worth the wait but I have to say the burritos looked like they were the best deals and sufficient in size and price. Only to go orders... currently not seating patrons. Lastly, I should've specified two different orders with the tacos.. it all came in one foil and was hard to eat in the car having to share with someone. I'd love to come back and give this place a try. Asada - meh, pass on this Buche - moist and flavorful Pastor - great flavor Get a burrito, tacos not worth it.

The food was delicious great tasting can't complain about the food although no inside seating at all they had two tables out front which basically are sitting on top of the sidewalk where people are trying to walk where homeless individuals are walking by and it's right on the corner so you can imagine the sound in the area other than that I give this an overall two-star rating because the food is delicious and the pricing is relatively affordable however they only accept cash and they have an ATM inside for people's convenience which charge for the transaction so to star rating overall.
Calling ahead does nothing to get your order faster. I specified three times I was going in half hour later and asked if they were going to have the food ready on time. They clearly stated yes. After arriving at 11.01 am, our food was ready for us at 11.16 am. That's unreasonable. Why take food orders over the phone if they have no intention of fulfilling them? They're asada is the only saving grace. I won't be back. I have a limited time for lunch and spending half that time waiting for an order that was placed 45 minutes prior is not standing right by me.
Desperately in need of a makeover, deep cleaning on the exterior and a les crowded layout in the dining area maybe some tables and chairs on the outside . Menu is extremely basic with limited options. I had 2 tacos de asada that by the taste did not have the signature asada flavor as well as lacking the texture that a steak that is grilled has , it seemed that the meat is being chopped up before grilling , I also had 2 tacos de cabeza and well I guess they could pass eventhough it's cachete . Once upon a time, this place was much better, but like everything else, things change.
What has their tacos became into? The meat is not chewable & tastes raw and undercooked. Literally we spit out the tacos we ate it was not appetizing at all. They used to be good years & years ago. Now it’s poor quality & not the same anymore. Disappointing.
Trashy place that used to have quality meats for their tacos & burritos, but not anymore, haven't been in about 2 or 3 years, I don't remember the carne asada being tough or tasting old which is hard to believe since they have always done a lot of business, don't know how or why they still have a big draw, so what do I know.
They should get the world record for the smallest tacos ever made 😂. Mediocre over priced tiny tacos with crap meat. Than they make u use their ATM before buying food, what business doesn’t take card anymore? I should have just left when they told me that.
My family and I have been coming here since the 90s when the owners used to have the lunch truck across the street. This place has made changes for the worse, unfortunately. Burritos are now much smaller. They are like 75% in size of what they used to be. As a reference to illustrate the new small size of the burritos, I have added pictures of one of the burritos pictured along with two of the small salsa containers they give you with to go orders. Obviously, very small burritos. More detail: Some time ago, we noticed the increase in price and the use of a smaller tortilla for the burritos. We were OK because a price increase was reasonable during the times, but we also noticed they started using a smaller tortilla. Regardless of the smaller tortilla, they still put the same amount of carne asada and everything else. Today, we ordered by phone the usual 3 burritos. When we got home and took the burritos out of the bag, SURPRISE!!: we got the three smallest burritos we had ever seen. Much smaller than what we had become accustomed in the past 30+ years of coming here. I suggested my wife to go back and complain, but since we live about 20 minutes away, and it was dinner time, we decided to call instead. We tried to speak with the owner or the owner's son who was there when we got our food. I doubt the person who responded to our concern was either of them. He did not appear to care much, and he just said that he was sorry and that what we got today was going to be it in the future. Hopefully they correct the course they are taking with smaller burritos, higher price (which I am OK with), and poor interest in customer satisfaction. Thanks!
Takes cash only so be prepared. Ordered the Pastor burrito to much sauce pouring from the burrito shell. Tables are dirty dining room is not much better. Parking is super tight.
It was my first time here and I’m honestly very upset, all the tables were dirty when I asked worker to clean she just gave me napkins (like am I your employee?) I’m not talking even about the floor and walls 🤐 Second thing that was really upsetting is the size and price for the tacos !!! Please owner of this restaurant review your service!
This restaurant only accepts cash which is disappointing for a small business that can get tech for card payments, even food trucks take card payments. The asada burrito was small and cost me 23 dollars and the flavor was ok, not what I expected from a Mexican restaurant, They definitely need improvement. They have their own parking lot which is a plus and parking was available. Overall I would not recommend this place for the price they charge stay away.
This place keep giving me a bad tummy ache every time I eat their burrito, I usually get their asada burrito and the last 3 times I had to use the the restroom like crazy in the middle of the night…
First impressions is everything. Get to this establishment at 8:30am opening time. Place not open tap on the door and counter guy signals five minutes. No problem I take a phone call no longer then five minutes notice the counter guy setting the chairs outside just to make sure I ask "are you open?" He looks at me and angrily says " what's that sign say". I turn around and it says open. So if it has good food I will never know. You lost my business
I go there and order food and try to pay with my debit card. They tell me they don't accept debit cards only cash! what kind of place this day and age does not accept debit cards? but oh yeah they make sure they have an ATM machine right next to the cash register, So they can make money off that as well, never again!!!
Sorry but if you find this place delicious, then you know anything Mexican food! Let me start with the Taco tortillas, those tortillas are the cheapest to buy and they have a lemon flavor so the quality is not great. Also do you guys not believe IN guacamole??? Because that's exactly what was missing. I try all types of Mexican food, from Tijuana and San Diego but the on in here is bad.
So this place has been the best burro place in my opinion. I went today after 5 years. And I saw this on top of my salsa. I had to open and destroy the whole burrito to see if there were more in there. Luckily I didn't see any. I was starving, I ate it being scared and paranoid. So disappointed.
I don't know what happened to this place, maybe a change in ownership and staffing because the food here is not the same as it was. Skimping out on food, there was very little meat on my torta. Not only that, the change in price per torta increased drastically. From $8 to $11.50 per torta is a huge increase. Definitely not worth, especially when they're shorting ppl out on meat.
They cheat! Check your to go orders carefully at the premise. The phone does not work to call them & claim shortage. I guess they have had many calls & VM, & decided to shut it down. Accept only cash! I wonder if they cheat on taxes. Don't wear gloves! Why health department allows it!! Finally, food itself, quality & tase -> average to below average. Don't recommend this place. Living in Glendale for 24 years, this was my 1st & last visit!
Tacos were insanely small and barely had meat! They don't even serve you a full-sized tortilla, but the mini-sized ones instead. Four tacos are basically two tacos. And they charge for radish and lime, condiments that other taco places DON'T charge you for. My order of four tacos took half and hour to make. The place gets crowded fast and there are practically no workers. Thus, service is slow. The owner is surely greedy and trying to juice money of his workers. Unbelievable. Do not eat here. I will not be visiting this place again.
Been eating here for over 20 years. The ownership has clearly changed. The meat does not taste the same. I got a carne asad burrito tonight and there was barely any meat in it. It was all tortilla. Now they charge you $2 for lemon and radish. This used to be my go to taco place. I couldn't stop talking about them. They ruined their food and name. Also, they never ever answer their phone anymore. I used to be able to phone in my order. I will stop going here. This is what happens when a restaurant gets greedy and is trying to cut corners.
Place does make good food but the lack of consideration that I found plastic in my food was concerning. Furthermore I feel like there is some type of racial sympathy going on. Obviously, this is my opinion, but this is what I’ve experienced And yes, it was literally plastic in my food. (Burrito)
Make sure you have time or call ahead. Came in for a to go order and 4 orders after myself were done. 25 minutes for 2 Togo breakfast burritos is unacceptable. First time coming might sure be the last.
