Always a great time at The Roost! Very chill bar with a wonderful owner. Always end up chatting with good people. Cash only!
Oddball ecumenical cheery dive. Big pours, homey Thai food coming from the kitchen, college sports on the TVs, Sisters of Mercy on the juke. Most of Northeast LA could find a niche here somewhere. Ton of red booths, a long bar and approachable bartenders who seem game for all comers.
The Roost is a fine dive bar. The well drinks are fairly priced and the indoor space is an even spread. TVs showing sports and a jukebox are nice additions, and the service is quick and amenable. No beers on tap, but I do recall a munchy menu the last time I was there. Finally, when I used to day drink the Roost was one of my comfort spots. Check it out and enjoy!
Very cool place. Smells good inside, like chicken (?) and the drinks are strong! Extremely friendly service. Cash only, but they have an ATM.
Came here from the Big Foot Lodge because they have food, I could NOT believe they have pineapple fried rice!! The drinks are great & the best part, the bartender Sai is so sweet & will take good care of you. I LOVE this place!!
Gee wiz a dive bar/sports bar/Thai food joint. Need I say more? Oh yeah! Best drunken noodles.
Amazing little dive bar with a great atmosphere. The hidden gem is the Thai food, specifically the dumplings. They're AMAZING! Seriously were first timers and will def be back
Great dive bar with awesome thai food. Highly recommend the pad thai, pad see ew, and fried rice. You can ask for any of their dishes spicy, which is great. Solid prices on the drinks, though I feel like this my "get the largest pbr you can and a ton of food" spot. Cash only
Very clean & cozy. Beautifully decorated for holidays, - will immediately put you in the holiday spirit! The music choices & sound system are great for a good mood too!! Courteous bartender as well.
For Food you may pay with a credit card/debit card, and for the booze is cash only. There is a jukebox. The thai food is the best thai food you could find at a dive bar. ANd $7 for the big PBR is a great deal.
Oh my gosh they are just so sweet here! Great selection of tunes on the music machine and vibey lighting. Looking forward to trying the food also. Can’t wait to come back!
This is the only bar in Los feliz that serves Thai food! They have an updated karaoke you can manage through your phone (make sure to download the app) and points for having "Dawn don't go away by Frankie Valli and the four seasons." The ambiance is dark with lights all around. They have two TVs to watch sports. This is a classic bar in Los Feliz/Atwater and a must stop.
Wonderful sports bar/restaurant in Tujunga. great bartenders, and really excellent food. Actually, i come here for the wonderful food. Never a bad bite.
Great dive bar. The food is pretty great if you order the Thai food, there’s internet jukebox (which is what it is), and happy hour drinks before 7 everyday...
A very clean and eclectic corner watering hole. Owner Sai quickly gets to know new faces, and has the story on all the regulars. Bring cash, your thirst and enjoy.

The roost has amazing thai food, great vibe, perfect date spot. Would recommend
This is a small bar in LA. The owner is great. We even saw a movie star we all sat and talked. He was a very nice man and so was big friend. So I will be back at some point. Had the rooms they were really good. So next time I will order something. But over all I give it 5 stars. Thank for having us from Glendora Madeline Irene Scott Frank and our little Asian Man Joe lol
Fun little dive bar owned by a nice Thai lady. Felt welcomed as soon as we stepped inside. Wide selection of liquor and beer by the bottle. Nothing on tap though. Great experience will be back!
A great local watering hole that is definitely underrated. It may not seem like it but the Thai food there is delicious and good quality especially when it comes to bar food. The owner and bartenders make you feel at home. I highly suggest you check it out. They have an outdoor area for current conditions.
This is a great hole in the wall neighborhood bar but the fact that it's Thai owned makes it better because you can eat good food while you get good cheap drinks. Literally underrated
Underrated dive bar that serve stiff drinks & is still cash only. Offers authentic Thai food in their kitchen.
If you’re looking for a fun dive bar with really great food, this is your place! The owners are awesome, the jukebox is always going and the drinks are STRONG! Some of the drinks may not be on par as far as how much fancier the other places around it is, but this place has its own charm that makes it worth it.
Food is really good! try the pad see ew and the pork jerky trust me! Best deal in the house is the 24oz can of PBR for $8. Cocktails are good too bartender knows how to make a drink!
Clean inside and outside. The food quality is good.

My friends and I found ourselves in this bar as it was half way between Big Foot Lodge and Griffin. It's a total dive bar that has a welcoming feel. Staff was very friendly. Do note that this place is cash only.
Stopped by on our way to an Eric Clapton concert at the Hollywood Bowl. And then stopped again afterwards. Great atmosphere.
My first time coming here . Very friendly staff, drinks a little pricey but worth it because they are very strong. That's saying something coming from a consumer of alcohol 😉They also serve Thai food which helps with the alcohol consumption. It reminds you of a cozy neighborhood bar .
I have been coming to the roost for 10+ years. It has been good times whenever I have gone. Has a jukebox and food menu. The crowd has changed over the years but I suppose that is inevitable. Prices are very decent. Sai is way awesome and makes a great bloody Mary. No debit or credit accepted though... So you should bring cash or use the ATM inside but it will charge a service fee.
Never thought I would suggest a bar for Thai food. I haven't tried any of the other food items but the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew are great and come in huge servings. The bar also has a decent selection of drinks. The owner is really nice and so is the cook. Bar is cash only, but you can pay for food with card.
Great place to get drinks with friends in an environment where you can actually hear each other talk. Staff is super friendly and they even have a small kitchen in the back to cook up some dinner or something to snack on (Love their pad see ew). Only drawback is it's cash only but they do have an ATM on site.
This is a nice family owned bar with delicious Thai food. I had the pad Thai, large portions and great flavor. They have comedy here on Tuesday nights 🙌✨
Fun dive bar vibes without feeling creeped out. They serve Thai food but I can't vouch for the quality. They also played "All I Want for Christmas is You" outside of the holidays, because they only play bangers.
Felt like a dive bar with higher prices. Kentucky Lemonade… $22, chicken stripes and a coke $27. Cash only for cocktails… preferred card for food. ATM fee: $3.50

This bar checks a lot of the boxes. Free parking lot, always a table, good food (bar food and Thai food! Yes!), asked decent drinks. The prices have gone up a bit, but they have made some upgrades. Don't look for any scheduled activities. Every night, the theme is eat and drink. Just bring cash. No cards. They have an atm (plus a fee). But it's a nice spot to have a drink and some pad Thai and fries with friends.
I decided to visit because it was listed online as one of LA's best cheap dives. It certainly doesn't have dive prices, nor does it really have that dive sorta vibe. Service was good. There was also quite a bit of drama here.
Very expensive drinks for what you end up getting - would be a great experience at a thrifty little dive but not for the prices. Food is purchasable by card but the bar is cash only for some mysterious reason.
A fun dive bar where the locals hang out. The food is ok with a limited bar menu. The happy hour drinks are reasonable and was a good pour. Wasn't too thrilled about having to pay for a pricey bowl of peanuts but will forget to order them the next time around
Just your average dive bar, but with Thai food. Nothing fancy, no local/craft beers or anything. Beer only sold in bottles - no drafts. Everyone there is really nice though, which is nice. VERY decorated for the holidays.
Cool bar, but you don't get to be a cash-only bar AND an expensive drink bar at the same time..

I shan't say much, as I'm no longer welcome, when the bartender allowed the drunk next to me snatch my change and she wouldn't reimburse it after he scrammed out! THEN, I had quite a bit to say! But, they were notorious, at one time, for deciding what their "tip" should be!
“Yeah it’s like a laid back dive, it smells kind of weird, it’s cash only, the drinks are just ok” “Oh well it’s probably really cheap right?” “A Moscow mule is $19”
After I ordered drinks, the owner said only cash. We have to withdraw money from ATM costing us $5, so 2 beers in total of 27$.

This place is way over priced now. Many years ago (4+ years ago) this bar had a different vibe and crowd - there were old school locals and cheap drinks, a real dive bar. Back then the floors were carpeted and it wasn't as loud - the new floors make it nearly impossible to hear whoever you're with. The food was just meh and it was definitely over priced for what it was. The drinks are weak and over priced. I cannot recommend this place to anyone for any reason.
There was so much that went wrong with my night at The Roost, I don't even know where to begin. First of all, the crowd is great, I met some lovely people. The staff/bar policies itself though, that's another story. Out of the long list of grievances, I have only two worth mentioning in a review. Firstly, the staff kept inserting themselves into our private conversations, like way beyond a casual interlude, but aggressively TAKING OVER the conversation. Not some casual chitchat, but a PRIVATE, SERIOUS conversation! Appalling. Secondly, I am and was incredibly confused to be told I couldn't pay cash for my food but had to use my card. THEY ONLY TAKE CASH FOR THEIR DRINKS! Something weird and underhanded is happening at this bar.
Cocktails are $15 to $19 and the old fashioned I ordered was Evan Williams with club soda and an orange slice. Beers are $7.50. Vibe is chill but it's just filled with white hipsters drinking overpriced garbage. Food is decent tho.
Used to love this bar.. Cool dive bar with cheap drinks, then new owner added a few lights and charges silly money for badly made cocktails.. Bought 3 watered down drinks other night and cost $50...walked to Big foot Lodge down street and had great drinks that were cheaper... Real shame..
Stopped in with two other people after work spent over $150 with one plate of nachos (okay). Cash only. The money I put in the juke box was being spent by the owner/bar tender on some Chinese music with disrespect to us. We were the only ones in there and it was dead quiet when we got there...rip off!
I went to the Roost years ago and remember it as a good, relaxed dive bar. But I went last week and, while its divey-charm is still there, the prices are way, WAY high. It was at point where I overheard several people discussing how overly priced their cocktails are. The base rate, like the price they start at, is $18. For a margarita. Beers are standard “LA price” of $8 but if you want any sort of cocktail be sure to bring a ton of cast. Speaking of, it’s cash only which raises more eyebrows as to why they charge so much. 🤨
Probably the worst experience I’ve had in years. After trying to get a drink during the business’s stated hours of operation, we were told to come back later because they weren’t open yet. We decided to leave our car in the parking lot while taking a walk, only to discover that the same person who told us to return at 4 PM had called a towing company to remove our car. Not only did they refuse to provide clear information on how to contact the towing company, but we were also insulted and shouted at by a woman who, quite frankly, appeared to have some serious personal issues. A complete nightmare.
