They are one of the best old school type dinner. They're food is always bomb and you have different choices from pita wraps to chicken plates. Nothing fancy but it's a cool place to try in Glendale!

I stopped in for lunch I never stepped out of the car but the service was suberb by the two women that helped me. My food cheeseburger special was made fresh to order and was great the fries were perfectly cooked next visit I will ask for a little more salt to be added but all and all this was a great spot for fast food & friendly service I will definitely be returning.

Gold Star's burgers are legit! They're charbroiled so they aren't greasy. They taste like happy memories of a family day out in the park grilling burgers on a charcoal grill. Get their fries well done though - they tend to come out softer if you don't.

We had a huge order for a party of 9. The food was cooked quickly & we did outdoor seating. The food was very good and we were very satisfied with it. Customer service was great as well! Will definitely recommend!

Girlfriend was in labor at the hospital and I walked here instead of using the on site cafeteria. I was greeted with a smile and the service was great. The burger was good and the whole place had that old school feel, but very clean and upkept. I recommend this over chain burger joints and DEFINITELY recommended over hospital cafeteria food.

This is a great hamburger joint. The location is nice, plenty of parking. Interior is clean, food is as you would expect. Seating is fine, though if you have a large group you will have to sit at multiple tables. Burgers and breakfast burritos are good. Parking, entrance, seating, counter, and restrooms are accessible.

Gold Star is a Glendale institution for a reason: They deliver good food every time. You'll know the kind of food to expect just by looking at the place. Prices are good and the dining room is a comfy place to visit. They're good when you order in, too. My family and I just love this place and have for decades. Gold Star does not change; Gold Star is eternal.

The owner is super friendly. I do enjoy the breakfast,the prices are great as well. I also enjoy their lunch specials not just the burger combos but the chicken sandwich. Oh the must try fried zucchinis yummy!!! Not as thrilled with the onion rings but fries & portions are great!

The wait staff are curtious, the restaurant is remarkably clean, the hamburger was as good as in n out.

The place felt used, but cared for and cleaned. The clientele was healthily varied in the way that tells you the people who live near here actually eat here, which is good. There was a background diner noise, just enough to allow you to feel that your conversation is private. The pastrami was piled high and freshly cut, and the juices soaked into the bottom bun just right. The fries were crispy. quite nice.

If you have been to Troy’s, then this place will be familiar to you. They have competitive prices and large servings of fries. I wanted to try this out because I always see this online and when driving by brand. Finally, I was able to. As I have mentioned, this is similar to Troy’s in Glendale Ave but has it’s own uniqueness. I like their cheese more and their burgers are more easy to hold. I’d give some of their products a try next time. But of you’re in for burgers, this place is better than fastfood ones.

This place is a classic. If you want breakfast or if you want dinner they got you. Their menu ranges from salads to burgers to dinner plates. I've been coming here for years and I'm still impressed. The prices are decent and they always have family deals. The owner and staff are always curtiuous and friendly even when it's crazy busy. My huge family and I come here every weekend , and we feel at home. I recommend everyone to come, I guarantee there will be something for you to eat.

Just like one of your home in the walls of mom and Pop burger places not too popular parking was OK. Customer service was lacking. The food was phenomenal. Really tasty. I love the food.

I've been coming here close to 17 years and their burgers are CONSISTENTLY very, very good including their fizzy soda which tastes top tier always. I only come for burgers so I can only rate that food item. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean.

I haven't been here in a bit, but the taste hasn't changed, and I'm thankful! The burgers are just as I remember them and the breakfast burritos are huge and filling! Personal tip.... Get them cut in half for easy take home options when needed. They are a Coke beverage server with a self serve dispenser for quick refills. A good amount of parking. The oddest part of this spot is the drive thru, you order on the driver's side, but pay and pick up on the passenger side!

OMG the food here is very very good!!! I got the sausage and egg breakfast plate and the tuna melt. All of it was just freaking amazing!!! I especially loved LOVED the tuna melt. The bread was SOOO buttery and toasted to perfection and the tuna and cheese just it was perfect. And the breakfast I love good breakfast plates. I'm definitely going to be ordering from here again soon!!!! 😁👍👍👍👍

Great version of the classic cheeseburger with solid fries and good service. Definitely stop by and check out the menu, ill take a look at some of the other items next time based on some of the other reviews. All hand made and quick "to go" or drive thru considering, plus a great alternative to the chains..

Went to Gold Star for breakfast. Yum! Bacon was delicious. Pancakes are very fluffy and large. This is a very casual place. The food is good and the interaction with the staff at the counter was very nice and polite.

In the city where I worked for 34 years, Gold Star was my go to. Great menu with lots of varieties. The menu covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast burritos are top shelf and the Bacon avocado cheese burger and the pastrami are winners. Very friendly atmosphere. This may sound goofy, but their soda fountain is always spot on. The soda tastes almost like it's out of the bottle. Better than the fast food places soda fountains. You won't be disappointed.

I recently visited Gold Star Humberger, and I must say, it was an amazing experience! The burger patties were incredibly flavorful, with a delightful smoky taste that really made them stand out. You can tell they were grilled to perfection. The fries were also impressive: large, crispy, and very natural-tasting. I appreciated that they didn’t come pre-salted, allowing you to season them to your own taste, unlike many other places where fries are often oversalted. The customer service was exceptional. Even though we took some time deciding on our order, the staff were extremely patient and helpful, guiding us through our options. They also offer free banana peppers, which is a nice touch, although I passed on them since I’m not a fan of spicy food. What made the experience even cooler was being able to watch our order being prepared right in front of us. It added a nice touch of transparency and excitement. And I can't forget to mention how perfectly they cut the burger, it was absolutely spot on! Overall, a fantastic spot for great burgers and excellent service. Highly recommend it!

Great freshly made burgers ALWAYS made to order and served hot right off the grill! The cooks care about the food presentation, because they ALWAYS serve the food nicely put together, wrapped, and clean. Their fries are also fantastic! And you can tell they change the oil frequently, because they are ALWAYS very clean, golden, crispy and picture perfect! The restaurant is also ALWAYS very clean. I've been coming for years because of the aforementioned comments, but also because it's locally owned. Well done everyone!

For a fast food place, this one serves tastefully good food. The crew does not look like they are overworked or tired. The place is not noisy. There are kids around but because it has a relaxed ambiance, none of the kids feel the need to shout or make noise more than needed.

@goldstarhamburgers has been a staple in Glendale, CA since 1979! I will be honest, I haven't been here since my elementary school days as it was right across the street. And another fun fact: I only thought about eating here again when I saw a bunch of firemen here the other day as I drove by 🤣🔥👨‍🚒🚒 So I Yelped it, as I always do with eateries and was immediately drawn to their pastrami sandwich. Must. Go. Now. What you see here is the pastrami combo with zucchini fries and an extra small order or onion rings. Only ordered the extra side thinking one side would not be enough for two people. Boy, was I wrong. Note to self: side orders are humongous! We bafely made a dent in them in the end. The sandwich has the perfect meat to bread ratio in my opinion. 90%meat 10% bread. With the perfect amount of mustard and pickles, you got yourself a treat! The sandwich is also huge.. if you got TMJ issues, you will need to take some meat out 🤣 The onion rings and zucchini fries were super crispy and piping hot! AS THEY SHOULD BE. Will definitely be back again. And definitely before another 25 years pass 😋

Classic west coast burger joint. California’s answer to the east coasts dinners. The best pastrami outside of The Hat on the east side. Good sign from the pre Covid days was that from 1130 till around 2pm you best order to go because every table has 3 or 4 people eating.

Had some fried zucchini with ranch. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. Didn't have to wait for too long. Service was efficient and friendly. Plenty of parking.

I like the diner aesthetic and Vibe of this place. I went through the drive-thru, and when you pull up you can watch the cook cook your food which alleviates reservations you may have about the food being fresh. The cook took his time and it was even wrapped with care. When I return to California I'll have to come back.

The best pastrami sandwich in the area. The French fries are also top notch. And I have had their Special Quesadilla (with pastrami), delicious! Friendly attentative staff.

Been coming here since 89' and still going strong. Had a chance to chat with Peter today, the proprietor's son he saved me the ATM fee by informing me that they now accept Credit/Debit Cards! Burgers are my favorite, the sauce makes them *saucy* and the meat is to die for-not me but the sacrificial cow! My pops' favorite is the steak sandwich! No one in family can complain about all the delicious steak and egg breakfasts we have had throughout the years! Lord knows it's saved mama from plenty of pots, pans and dishes to wash let alone all the rest and relaxation! Gold Star is a permanent fixture in Glendale and will eventually be a historical landmark! They don't make burgers like this anymore!

2/13/2025: Haven't been here for over a year. The pastrami sandwich is still great. And they keep things moving at the order counter. And, it's clean. Past review: Good burgers but I go for the pastrami sandwich. It's close to work and the service is usually fast for lunch.

Very good food. Bathroom wasn't in the building though, it's out back so it's rather inconvenient but it was clean. The staff was friendly enough. It seems a place that would develop regulars. There were a few people who were interacting between tables. If it were closer to me I would definitely go again.

So far this place is pretty good. The breakfast and bacon burrito is my favorite. They serve all kinds of breakfast and lunch items such as pancakes, steak and eggs, French toast, hamburgers and sandwiches. The menu definitely has variety and it is decently priced. They always seem to be hiring though not sure why that is... Bathroom is available to customer only. Overall it is more of a diner joint or good for breakfast if you hooked up with someone the night before.

Don't let the dated exterior scare you off. The food here is decent and not too expensive. The steak breakfast burrito was really good and was a nice size for what it cost (+/- $10). Service is fast and the staff is always nice and friendly.

Came here for breakfast and had a sausage breakfast. It was basic but pretty good. The hash browns that they put inside were crispy. It could have used a little more cheese, but still a good burrito. There’s a good amount of parking available in a dedicated lot. There’s also a lot of seating. Bathrooms are located outside the restaurant.

The joint was clean and the service was great. Made a breakfast burrito even though they were done with breakfast. Portions where amazing. I tried the double cheeseburger and it was better than Habit burgers but still not as good as In N Out. The bun was butter toasted which made the bun more yummy. Going back for more soon.

I used to come here when I was in High School it was so good! Now it's midocor at best. Prices are crazy high also I don't mind paying for good food but not food that is just okay.

Only reason why I went is because my aunt loves this place. She is a very loyal customers and they treat her so good. Besides that they have ok food and the service is also ok.

Been here three times now. First two visits, ordered a burger. It's good for something quick. Pricey though. 3rd visit, I ordered a tuna melt. They prepared it as a tuna sandwich like what? Every place you go to for a tuna melt is a warm and warm food to be served. Literally they had toast the bread and tossed on the tuna on there. That is a considered as a sandwich, not a melt. I asked the employees there, isn't it supposed to be warm? They agreed but this is how the owners of wants it to be prepared. They ended up making another one of how it supposed to be. 1 star to the owner's decision but 5 stars for customer service of the employees.

Used to be great. Now the prices have gone up and the amount of food has go ne down. Used to be able to buy a huevos rancheros for under 10 bucks and had more than i could finish. Now its closer to 15 and my 10 year old could finish it. Sad.

I paid almost $13 for a dry and bland breakfast burrito. This place used to be my go-to for a proper American combo breakfast burrito. I don't know what happened, but there is no love in those burritos anymore. How do you have three different types of meats in there and still not have any flavor? So sad...

Gold star has been around a loooong time. Anyone that's been a patron can see the changes. Price increases understandable. Smaller portions too not a good combo. One of my favorites was the chicken breast sandwich. Plumb juicy grilled perfectly at one time. Now it pancake thin dry and nowhere near the size if the Bun. Pretty pathetic pretty expensive pretty disappointing if you've been there years ago. Many of the other menu choices are still above average but below old gold star

Really wanted to like this place but the food wasn't anything special and the soda was flat. Paid about a little over $30 for two Burger Meals. Extra sauce is 60 cents. On the upside the menu is huge and there's alot more choices than just a burger.

Ordered a bacon omelet - got a small portion of scrambled eggs with bacon and American cheese on top. That said, the hash browns (included) were pretty good. Parking is plentiful, and the staff was okay.

Bad owner good employees. The employees look stressed. While the owner always needs more employees and is always under staff. Thats why they close early now. Because no body wants to work for this guy. If the food is decent is because the employees not the owner. They are always hiring because no one wants to work here.

The food is rarely good. The really bad things first. The pastrami is highly fatty and and oily. The huevos rancheros are terrible and not authentic. The chorizo consistently has grizzle. The tuna melt is always cold. Not a melt at all. Meat burrito is awful. The meat is chewy. The items that are good. The patty melt is good. The french fries, fried zucchini, onion rings are good. The bean and cheese burrito is good.

Good food but they charge for everything like ranch or refills they also lie about the time they close example Sunday supposed to close at 830 not 730 .

Heavy set cook with Mohawk style hair 1.look like in a bad mood 2. I can't tell if he came from break being on his phone or came from restroom but either way I don't think he washed his hands I saw him put his hole hand on cheese to compres burger down. 3. He didn't have gloves, none of them cooks were gloves. Some people hate there jobs but not customers fault they should have a sink there were they can wash there hands at least.

Overpriced mediocre food with at you poorly for even asking. The plates/trays are usually a little dirty, the tables are always sticky, and the entire place itself could use a thorough cleaning. If you don’t like yourself much, have had all of your inoculations, and don’t mind a bout of explosive diarrhea, then this is the place for you. I’m embarrassed to admit that I have eaten there.

It makes me sad to give a bad review, but my most recent meal here was extremely dissapointing. I was halfway through my french fries when one of my fries was terribly off. Tasted like manure. One of my family ate another fry not believing they were bad (this place is usually great) and unfortunately picked up another fertilizer fry. What makes my 1 star review necessary here is how the manager at the time (12/29/21) handled this. I informed him of this and of my concerns for anyone else who might order fries and his response was only "during this time of year the potatoes aren't as good" to which I recommended not serving fries until he was sure. He gave no course of action to ensure that this wouldn't happen again so I'm not confident much thought was put into my concern and experience.

Every time I want to give them another try, they managed to mess up my order over and over again. Their food is just ok but since it's not far from where I work, I would go once in awhile. But God knows why, they just couldn't make my orders right. This time, they gave me the grilled chicken sandwich with just chicken and the bun, no lettuce or tomatoes. It was a to go order so I couldn't go back and exchange. It was a very sad lunch.

The quality of the food has declined since the pandemic. Aside from the increased prices, I believe they got a new cook. We received inedible, undercooked French toast; the eggs literally dripped off of the bread. The steak sandwiches have suffered the most. The price is one of the most expensive in the area, and the quality of steak is lacking: too much fat and connective tissue for a decent ribeye steak. Unfortunate decline for one of the first spots we tried when we moved out here.

I ordered a chef salad with no cheese, as I can't have it. I got a chef salad with small chunks of ham, lots of them, a very hard tomato( not edible) and so much grated cheese I could not take it all off. I didn't have them remake it as I was starving. Moral of the story, don't order a salad at a hamburger place. My husband had a tuna sandwich that he liked very much.

Food is decent, but lie about add ingredients and still charge you for it. Additionally you have to listen to the staff criticize you for ordering addition ingredients as if you can hear them as you eat.

Food is good but god the workers are unbearable. Especially this one girl who always has a pouty face every time I come inside. Shes always rude and acts like it's the end of the world to serve a customer. I don't know if she needs to train being around people but girl the service industry clearly isn't for you. Probably would only ever come if im absolutely craving it and hope to god i don't see her

They are cleaning the upper kitchen hood while making my burger. It's really dirty and disgusting. I waited 10 minutes and canceled without receiving my burger. This is a really dirty restaurant. I was hungry, but I was just wasting time.
