Opinions de Kopan Ramen Glendale
I have not been here since before COVID, plus I moved out of the area. I was around and decided to stop in. OMG!!! I was NOT disappointed. The Ramen is delicious as ever. There is something about the broth that will keep me coming back. I also decided to have the Yellowtail jalapeño. I like the way it is prepared but asked for no jalapeño on top like they have photographed. I still wanted the cilantro, Sriracha and sauce they were using. Again! Was not disappointed. If you love the spicy then please have the jalapeño on it like it's supposed to be. If not, just ask to not have them. The staff was so kind and accommodating. Friendly. There was a small confusion on seating and wait time but that was fixed quickly and didn't taint the experience
Food was great and it didn't take long for the food to be served. Update: The place has definitely gotten better in the years and atmosphere is so nice and casual. There are more food options and it's all delicious. I recommend small groups as the place has tables best suited for groups of 4.
Excellent ramen! The staff is friendly and can give you great recommendations if it's your first time. They have a happy hour later in the evening where you get a second beer for 25 cents! The ramen was full of flavor, great kick with their spice, and please eat it with the fatty pork. You won't be disappointed!
Awesome Ramen. Great, clean place. Friendly and professional service. Food was fresh and delicious!! Seating area is nice, beautiful natural and artificial lights! By the windows you can get beautiful view of brand Blvd. or if you like more privacy you seat at the booths. No weird smells at the place fresh air conditioned air. You can get 90 minuets free parking at the back large parking structure on Maryland street between Wilson and Broadway.
I love this restaurant! I’ve tried so many sushi places nearby but this place keeps me coming back. The takoyaki and mixed tempura appetizers are great. My favorite roll is the Zen Roll! It is so fresh tasting and flavorful. I don’t even have pictures because of how delicious it is. I love the lemon roll as well.
This Japanese restaurant has a funny and memorable name — Kopen — I guess it means Korean + Japanese! The food is amazing for the price. The ramen is super tasty, and their lunch special costs under $20 without taxes and tips, which is such a great deal. The noodles are perfectly tender, and the soup is rich and flavorful — thick but not overly greasy or oily. They also offer a wide variety of sushi. I asked the waiter, who was very smart and quick to respond, for a recommendation, and he suggested the Snow White Roll — it was delicious! A lot of protein, not too salty, and very well-balanced in flavor. For the appetizer combo that came with my ramen, I chose the sweet pork, which was incredibly tasty — it reminded me of traditional Chinesedish. The restaurant overall feels like a mix of traditional Japanese style with a bit of American and Korean influence. Overall, it was a very satisfying dining experience — delicious food, friendly service, and excellent value. Even though we drove two hours and got stuck in typical Los Angeles traffic, it was totally worth it! This lunch reminded me why people love LA: despite the traffic, the food scene here is unbeatable — better and cheaper than almost anywhere else (except New York!).
We had such a great experience at Kopan Glendale! The bento boxes were super filling and came with a nice variety – rice, salad, miso soup, sides, and the main dish all served fresh and tasty. The beef bulgogi bento and chicken katsu bento were both delicious. But the real standout was the Dynamite – so cheesy, savory, and absolutely addictive. Definitely a must-try if you come here. Great food, generous portions, and cozy vibes. Perfect spot for a satisfying Japanese meal in Glendale!
Had to go down to Glendale for an exam, so I stopped and got the veggie gyoza and Kuro Mayu (garlic-pork ramen). Delicious, savory and filling 😋 $21.63 with tax. Waited 20 minutes, and it was a pleasant place to wait, and the waiter apologized for the time.
Absolutely amazing food! We really fell in love with the interior design and the food. The only thing is that we were sitting next to the waitstaff area. They were standing right in front of us the entire time we were eating, which was a bit uncomfortable. But other than that, everything was great!
I had a great experience at this sushi restaurant. The quality of the food was definitely above average, and the prices were very reasonable considering how fresh and well-prepared everything was. What made the visit even more enjoyable was the friendly sushi chef, who made the whole dining experience feel personal and welcoming. I’m including a photo of my favorite chef in the review — he truly deserves the recognition!
ordered the spicy kara miso ramen and pork katsu curry, both were great! also got the takoyaki which I’ve never had before but they were super tasty and we would definitely come back here again. hidden gem
Excellent choice for some Japanese food. Delicious food. My daughter really enjoyed this place, she felt like she’s really dining in Japan with the ambiance. Now she wants to go to Japan!
Kopan was an awesome spot if you’re looking for a variety of flavors. The sushi roll options were quite extensive and equally expensive. Surely had me pensive. It was an easy decision to avoid the ramen because they use MSG in their broth. Really confused how a place in the LA area in this day and age would still be doing that as it’s been proven to be a neurotoxin. I got routine migraines my entire life until I eliminated msg, and gratefully most of the world did as well. Not Kopan, thus preventing me from enjoying what looked like a great meal. Nonetheless, I ordered the spicy tuna lemon roll and was very impressed. I also got a baked salmon roll and was a bit disappointed to realize the one from sushi stop of all places is better and a third of the price. Overall it was all delicious and the sushi roll buy one get one half off. I still spent almost $40 on two rolls after taxes and tip so definitely pricey but I left full and satisfied.
An absolutely delicious lunch. We started with a delicious cucumber salad that had avocado with a wonderful spicy sauce. So fresh we wanted more just to take home with us... We both shared bento boxes, his with a sesame chicken that was tasty and deep fried with a avocado eel roll. Mine assorted tempura, and gyoza. Both sets came with a tasty salad, soup and rice. So yummy. But my favorite was the cucumber salad by far. Still thinking about it. Definitely would go back.

More than amazing! The shashimi here is legendary. And the place is comfortable very cozy. We had a great time here!
We came in for lunch at Kopan Sushi and had an amazing time — mostly thanks to Chris, our server. He was on it from the moment we sat down — super friendly, fast, and genuinely cared about making everything perfect. The food was great, but honestly, Chris made the experience. Give that man a raise, a bonus, and maybe his own sushi roll. Now… about the music. Why does it sound like we’re riding an elevator to nowhere? 😂 It’s pure elevator music energy in there — not exactly what you expect when you’re eating spicy tuna rolls. But hey, at least it gave us something to laugh about between bites. We’ll definitely be back — just maybe hoping the playlist goes as hard as Chris does at his job!
Hands down my favorite restaurant in LA. The atmosphere was low light and romantic so this would be a great date spot. There were a lot of options and I may have gone a little crazy on the ordering and loved every single dish. There were flavors in every bite. Something I really liked about their menu is that there were a lot of pictures instead of reading descriptions. Considering it’s a sushi spot, the pricing wasn’t that bad.

The broth was rich and delicious. Noodles were not too over done and not too al dente. The pork Tonkatsu was perfectly breaded and cooked. The staff was nice but we're obviously busy. They did forget to put an egg in my soup but it wasn't a big deal. Would definitely recommend to all soup and ramen goers.
I came here because my friend was raving about this place, the food was tasty (not the best I’ve had) but it was really good. CS was decent, the only thing I didn’t like was that they would take the plates as soon as you were done and they made sure you didn’t stay to chat, they kept passing my tables and looking over, then at some point there was about 3-4 employees near our table, they made it uncomfortable enough we just left, pointing out they were not busy at all. If there was people waiting I’d understand but it was relatively slow. I think moving fwd I would just order to go, I can take my time eating and I won’t be rushed out. We ordered 2 Ramens and 1 salmon avocado roll with 1 drink, it all came out to $56 which I thought was too pricy. Overall I wouldn’t say I recommend but I wouldn’t say I would steer away from this place, I guess it’s just based on preference.
Food was amazing and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
We went there on a Thursday night, it was not that busy so we were seated pretty quickly. The service was good, i was a first timer so any questions i had she replied them clearly. We ordered the Gyoza veggie dumplings for starter and there were well cooked and yummy. We also ordered the Kopan Red Ramen which was spicy and a customized regular bowl pork broth with chicken breast and veggies. You can choose which size you want to eat in, regular or large. If you’re hungry large would be fine. Overall experience ok, I would be back. Gave a star less cause the soup itself was kinda tasteless, i had to ask for salt to add taste.
I’ve been here dozens of times. It’s a great place to grab some Ramen and or sushi and is pretty affordable especially during lunch. The decoration is beautiful and finding parking is extremely easy. If you’re looking for reliable tasty food at an affordable price I recommend coming here.
Kopan is a great spot for your Japanese fix. Although I typically like my ramen separate from my sushi, this may be an exception. The ramen broth was creamy and rich and full of flavor. The egg was perfectly cooked, but the ‘super spicy’ was lacking a good spicy kick. The sushi was good, but not quite “fine” sushi, but they had plenty of options and creative rolls to choose from. Their crispy rice appetizer is also amazing. All the staff were very friendly and always smiling. This is a great spot to come with friends for a nice casual meal.
Friendly staff. Food was all delicious. I love the seating idea, it gave a little privacy to the customers. They do have a plastic barrier between tables. The only thing was there Cha shu, it was really thick and grilled similar taste to the way kalbi is marinated and cooked, it was not cooked the traditional way. It had strong delicious flavor but it overwhelmed the broth, made the broth taste very bland.

This place was, or felt, like a handful. Seating was cramped and the overall atmosphere just seemed very busy and loud. The food was not necessarily bad but it was average at best. There was almost nothing memorable about any of the five dishes that were ordered. Aside from the food taking ages to arrive, servers would disappear every now and then and act pretty dismissive. Seating was also limited to an extent and it seemed as if there were unnecessary contraptions taking up space within the restaurant; however, I guess you just gotta make the best out of it. Would possibly recommend but would not eat here again.
It was okay. I waited a long time for my avocado with tuna. The tuna looks different in the photo than in person. It came out a different color. I ended up reading that it was cooked tuna and not sushi tuna. It was still good. My waiter brought my rice to the table about 15 mins before my food arrived so it got cold. I asked for warm rice once my food came, and he took the cold rice away. Felt like a waste to not ask if I still wanted the cold rice since they would throw it away anyway. My son got the seafood hotpot and liked it. I thought the quality was pretty low. It was just miso paste with a few very cheap pieces of seafood. Also, I got a ticket parking in front and not being familiar with the paid parking structures there. When I left the wait staff didn't thank and say goodbye in a big group like they did for the other customers. I was friendly, but I think they forgot my avocado for forever, so it was weird. Also, I really didn't like that they kept the front door of the business open. There were so many smokers that kept in front or walking by. It was very smokey there for me ans my son and hard to enjoy.
We waited about 5 minutes for a table — which was great. The interior was beautiful, and the servers did an excellent job. For the atmosphere and service, definitely 5 stars. However, the food wasn’t very tasty, even though we were quite hungry. The cucumber was very bitter, which made the dish unpleasant, and it also looked a bit odd.
Came here after a friend had recommended this place. When we got there, there was a line, which was a good indicator that place must be good. the line also moved pretty quickly . When we got seated, staff came and took our order timely, but the food was not delivered timely. When we did get the food, it arrived cold. It was quite disappointing, after all that hype, and wait to be served cold food. We even ordered 2 hot Sakis, and only one was hot. I had to send back a dish because it was so cold. Finally, I just gave up on sending back my last dish.

Two stars because I love one piece. If not for that, it'd be a one. From the moment I stepped in the restaurant, I felt like I was being rushed out the door. Couldn't enjoy due to constant interruption from waiters. Food was rushed as well. They sacrifice quality for speed. My rolls were premade and my baked roll cold. Did not get what I paid for.

Over a year ago, I emailed you directly about a disappointing experience I had at your Glendale location, but I never heard back. I kept hoping someone would acknowledge it, but since that never happened, I’ve decided to finally share my experience publicly in the hopes that it brings some attention to what went wrong. My partner and I visited the Glendale location on March 27, 2024, around 4 PM. We’ve always been fans of Kopan especially the spicy garlic edamame but that visit really changed how we felt about the restaurant. From the moment we walked in, it was clear things weren’t running smoothly. There was only one waiter working the floor a Hispanic man in his late 20s or early 30s who was clearly overworked trying to manage all the tables alone. We asked him about the new hamburger steak dish, and he said it came with a fried egg, so we went ahead and ordered it, along with some rolls and the edamame. When it arrived, it had a raw egg on top instead. That might not seem like a huge deal, but had we known, we wouldn’t have ordered it. We gave it a try, but the texture was really unpleasant. When we asked to have it removed from the bill, the waiter did so but without any kind of apology or explanation. Throughout the meal, there were long delays, and we noticed there were only three staff members working the front of house: the manager (a young Asian man with long black hair), the waiter, and the sushi chef (an older bald man). It honestly felt like the restaurant was unprepared to serve even a small dinner crowd. Things got worse when we received the red dragon roll it wasn’t what was described on the menu. Instead of tuna on top, it had avocado and a pale pink fish. When we brought it up, the waiter got defensive and actually yelled across the restaurant at us. It was really unprofessional and honestly pretty embarrassing to be put in that situation just for pointing out a mistake. Even after asking to speak to the manager, no one really apologized. The manager removed the incorrect items from our bill, but there was no effort to make us feel heard or valued as customers. I totally understand that mistakes happen and that sometimes restaurants have rough days. But the combination of being ignored when we first tried to resolve it privately, the lack of staffing, poor communication, and how we were treated just felt like too much. It made us decide not to return to Kopan, which is sad considering we used to really enjoy it. I’m sharing this now not to bash anyone, but because I genuinely hope this feedback leads to some improvements for both your team and future guests. Stronger communication, better staff support, and more accountability could really go a long way in preventing others from going through something similar. Thanks for taking the time to read this
My experience didn't turn out great. Actually got sick from the messed up Kuro Mayu ramen (aka black garlic ramen) or the Okinawa sashimi set. Luckily my kids didn't get any issues with their order. Although we were seated quickly, the place is very unorganized. There were different servers helping us and they didn't seem to communicate what was done so we had to repeat our orders. The Black Garlic Ramen came first immediately after ordering which I found a bit too fast. The rest of the plates came a bit later. The hostess came all of a sudden and tried to give us the Black Ramen again. We said I got it already. When I looked at my Ramen closely, it was not the Black Ramen. Asked one of the servers and she said it's the wrong order. Looks like Tonkatsu instead. They offered the black oil free of charge they said (what! I ordered the black Ramon). Another lady came and said it's really the same and just missing the black oil. Not sure if that's true but I just accepted the black oil and poured it in my bowl. The adjusted so called black ramen is not great. There was no real garlic in it at all. The noodles texture tasted like buck wheat noodles. The broth is ok only. The Okinawa sashimi set didn't come with rice. My kids got the California roll and another sushi roll. After I got home, I felt weak and had some stomach issues. Took a day for me to recover with meds and visits to the potty.
It was my first time dine in here and very disappointed. The food that we ordered they said not able to serve so we ordered another menu, server came again it is not available again then what else can i order? I decided to order thick noodle comes in a hot pot. (It looks liked nagasaki noodle) the broth was good but noodle was nasty. Noodle was undercooked and you can taste all the starch from the noodle so I called waitress and explained all she said was I’ll let kitchen know. Excuse me? Isn’t apologize first? I called other waiter and explained and take out from my bill because i really didn’t even touch that food after i took a first bite but a waiter with glasses didn’t take action and mumbled with I don’t know face. What so ever they take out that noodle out of my bill. Please train your workers how to apologize first. I would never coming back this place. Food wasn’t surprised anyways.
Reason I’m leaving 1 star. Is being it’ll never be the same without that one waiter with the pony tail, named Chris. I truly believe without his presence the food won’t even hit the same anymore. Yes the food here is good but to be honest with him being there & being so attentive & kind to everyone walking in, he truly made the experience better, relaxing, & comforting. Whatever happened to him pls bring him back! :’(
We had a very disappointing experience. We waited for an hour and a half after already filling out the waiting list form. During that time, we saw multiple groups of people being allowed inside even though they were not yet on the sign-in list. It was extremely frustrating to watch others go in before us when we had been waiting much longer. The staff member assisting the entrance, Su, treated customers differently. When some guests spoke Korean or Japanese, she smiled warmly and allowed them to enter. However, despite us having been there earlier, we were ignored. We were standing outside in the cold, and when we politely asked Su for the Wi-Fi password while waiting, she responded with a very rude and arrogant “no.” Her attitude was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate for someone working in customer service. It is unbelievable that someone with such poor customer service skills is placed in a front-facing position. Management should seriously address this behavior, as it reflects very poorly on the business.
Horrible experience! Tall Korean girl is full of attitude! I don’t care how busy you are! Rude and not professional! We normally go to the Burbank location and food and atmosphere definitely different. Burned food and no apology!
