Dean: a coffee shop

This place is a hidden gem, as another Local Guide (Will) said a few months ago. Just a fantastic and comfortable vibe. Great staff, friendly, energetic. Talked to the owner for a few minutes and further cemented my opinion -- this Third Place is focused on community and doing it right with pleasant music, a light and airy and spacious space. Plus, they have tasty Victrola coffee (from Seattle). Keep up the great work and I hope the community keeps lifting you up, too!

I got the iced coconut latte (not easy to find!) and my husband got an iced brown sugar oat latte and both were very good and ready quickly. They had so much seating indoor and outdoors. Our dogs appreciated the water bowl and relaxing on the patio

Although Santa Barbara and Goleta have several outstanding places to get that early morning coffee fix the number one go to place is Dean in Goleta. Their coffee has a very distinct robust full body flavor and is always consistently good. Dean’s menu, while simple, is all quality and a perfect side to that perfect cup of coffee. What sets Dean apart however is their professional Barista staff. They are very customer oriented and professional in every sense of the word.

This place is awesome!! 🤩 Great drinks and a delectable menu of bagel and baguette options alongside fresh pastries. The caprese baguette was fantastic! I’ll be coming back just for that. A wonderfully crunchy, yet soft, baguette serves as a podium for fresh mozzarella and meaty Roma tomatoes with basil, olive oil and a well balanced balsamic. Coming in I was surprised to see a poppy seed twist pastry. That was a fun and tasty reminder of home poppy seed paste baked goods. A generous amount of poppy seed pairs well with the twist style flaky pastry and proportioned glaze topping. A great treat to choose when you’re wanting to branch out from chocolate croissants. This is a great spot with 2hr free Wi-Fi and light airy indoor outdoor seating options. Right across from the Santa Barbara Airport this is also a great place to sit back and watch the planes take off.

So glad we found this place before our flight! It’s a short drive from the airport. Never had Aleppo until trying this place out; really added a good flavor to the brown sugar oat latte. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor.

Dean is an absolute gem! Great menu options, fresh items in the to-go area, & pink accents are adorable. Very spacious & lots of seating options indoor/outdoor. The employees were very welcoming/happy even when interacting with each other. It's great to see people who not just work there but are happy to be there as well. Very refreshing to see. Highly recommend if you need a coffee break, on the go items, or to sit down for a while for homework/meetings.

Lovely place for lunch or a snack. Located 6100 Hollister, Ste B in Goleta. Delicious libations of coffee, tea, and speciality drinks. Delightful food for the eye and the palate. Lots of places to sit inside and outside. The staff, they are AWESOME! I somehow forgot my purse, they immediately grabbed it and put it behind the counter to wait for me to return. Wheelchair access parking, seating, and entrance. Lots of parking in a free lot or on the street. No high-chairs. It's clean and a wonderful place to relax. The wifi password is on your receipt. Enjoy!

Love this place! Excellent coffee and food in a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of room to sit. It's tucked in an industrial area, but just look for the cars and you will find it. A must visit when in Goleta.

Really solid coffee spot. Was already on my radar but then a local recommended it so I had to check it out. Walked in and the decor was super cool, almost industrial. My go-to is a simple iced vanilla latte at most coffee shops, hard to mess that one up. But I saw they had Vietnamese coffee on their menu. I had the barista pick for me and she picked the Vietnamese coffee. Done deal. I gotta say, it’s probably the best Vietnamese iced coffee I’ve ever had. Thought it was expensive at first but when you get the cup, you get more than your moneys worth.

Hesitated about sharing my hidden gem, but what can you do when you find a nice cafe like this? This newly opened cafe hits everything on my checklist - good coffee, great ambience (modern), welcoming baristas, amazing scenery, clean restrooms, sturdy tables, outlets, etc. Definitely a great place to study, get work done, chat with your friends. Fewer people in the mornings, so highly recommend you come in early.

I had a really frustrating experience here. I ordered two coffees, a bagel sandwich, one almond croissant, and one chocolate croissant. Only the coffees came out. After a long wait, I asked — turns out they had completely forgotten the rest of my order. Here’s the worst part: when I originally ordered, the almond croissant was available. But because of their mistake and delay, it sold out while I was still waiting. Then they just handed me two chocolate croissants and said, “We’re out of almond, so here you go,” without asking or offering a refund or other option. We thought about asking for something else or a refund, but we were short on time because my husband had to leave for work. So we just took it and left — definitely not the relaxing meal we’d planned. The food itself was fine, but the service? Seriously disappointing.
