While working in the area I found this gem and returned for repeated visits. Between the tender pork ribs and the succulent grilled chicken I was ready to buy stock in the company 😆. Those watermelon margs are killer and made perfectly! There appeared to be outside seating overlooking the lake as well.

Fully enjoyed lunch on the patio with the lake view, attentive service, music, and tasty brisket sandwich. Wish I'd have found this gem earlier during my short stay in Granbury. Will absolutely be back on my next visit.

Great place. Savory food. Went there for my birthday and loved it. Also great staff and service. The view of the lake outside is gorgeous and if you are inside you can ask to be seated close to the windows to have a lake view if there's availability.

Great view of the lake and the margaritas are excellent. Had an appetizer and watched the sunset with a drink, very relaxing. The service was excellent.

This pit location is wonderful! Recommend coming here for a lake view, barbecue restaurant. Service is superb and very prompt. Great service!

Delicious! I love catfish and am very picky. Their catfish was excellent and very generous proportions. Our waitress was very attentive. We will be back the next time we are in town!

We brought visiting family for dinner. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We had the pork chop with cheese grits and the salmon with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. Great service!

Love the atmosphere of the place. The food and staff are awesome! Highly recommend the steak! The baked potato is a must as well. We went after church and will be doing it again!

Walking in you can smell the mesquite filling the air and my gawd does it smell amazing. I have had bbq from every state known for it and I smoke meats on the regular myself (Charcoal and wood only) so I'm a bit of a picky man when it comes to bbq. For the uninitiated this place is fantastic. For someone of my esteemed taste and character (please note this is massive sarcasm), I'll break it down barney style. Yes, this place is good. The ribs were on point and the sausage was amazing. The brisket, honestly, I was a little disappointed, great flavor but it was dry. The BBQ sauce was heavy on the ketchup and wasn't too fond of it. The fried okra was delightful and the potato salad was quite good. Coming from GA, I like my sweet tea to put me in sugar coma. And this joint just didn't have it rockin on the tea front. But to each their own. What do I know, I'm just a dude eatin some good BBQ and trying to give my opinion on it. I wouldn't pass this place up and would definitely give their brisket another shot next time I roll through Granbury. Overall 7.5/10.

Don’t normally do reviews but wanted to give a heads up on their bbq for others. Got the 3 meat combo with Vegetable medley and beans. Idk if it was maybe an off day or just the time of day I got em (11ish right when they open) but the sliced brisket was real dry and no tenderness at all. None of the meats I got had bad flavor tho but I wouldn’t get the sliced brisket again. Ribs were good and pretty tender, and the chopped brisket was probably the best. The veggies were not great, not much flavor along with the beans. Service was great tho, did a takeout order so got my food pretty fast and can’t say much about atmosphere since I didn’t sit down.

I went in here to give myself a reward for all the hard work I do with my body on a weekly. As you get older you must take care of yourself. I only live minutes away from this place, so I thought I would give it a try. I didn't know what to order, but I knew I wanted to order some serious meals. So I made the decision that when I walked in, whomever was working the front would order my food. Enter "Kylie the Maitre d". She had no idea she was about to order many meals of food and it didn't matter what it was. Brisket, ribs, catfish, sausage, shrimp, ham, and all the sides that went with them, let's not forget desert, banana pudding, YUM!! Yes, it will last the weekend, but the flavors were absolutely delicious!! Kylie was a great sport about it, too. So kudos to the chefs, Kudos to The Maitre d, Kylie and believe me when I say, definitely give this place a try when you're in the area. It's worth it. It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice

Had a ribeye with shrimp. Cook to perfection! Great flavor! Shrimp was also flavorful but small. Great view of the lake. They have patio seating- but its was too hot to sit outside. Had the coconut Margarita with toasted coconut on the rim. Really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend this place!

This place was great. There is plenty of parking, the establishment is nice and clean. A comfortable atmosphere. You can dine inside or outside and enjoy the beautiful lake view. The service was friendly enough. It did take awhile to get our food, and the temperature was alright. I ordered the armadillo eggs, which were amazing and the smokehouse cheddar burger, which again was amazing. Both were cooked perfectly and the side of fries were fresh cut and nicely seasoned. My husband ordered chopped brisket and sausage. Both were okay, but if you're the type that prefers a little char and smoke ring, this isn't that. My son had the chicken fried steak. Gravy was perfect, but the chicken fried steak was more on the chewy side. Overall it's a wonderful place and I will definitely be back! As far as price, it's about average, not cheap but not outrageous either. So take the family, go for a date night or day or just go for yourself! You'll leave with a full belly and a smile!

Goodness, when all of the BBQ places went downhill, I always turned to Mesquite Pit. But, after our family dinner this evening, I definitely believed what my Mom said about the brisket, ughhh. It use to be so lean, hardly any fat and you could easily cut it with your fork. Now, it's PACKED with fat! I felt like I was performing surgery on my sliced beef plate. Poor service and average food quality.service has been poor the last two times we have dined there. I think the quality has decreased. Two weeks ago, my wife and I went for lunch at 2:30 in the afternoon and there were 3 couples in the whole restaurant. After 20 minutes of waiting to order, I asked for the manager to get us help. Yesterday, we ordered lunch, again mid afternoon with very few customers, and when our orders arrived, they were totally wrong and food quality was average at best. I'll eat there again, but 3 strikes and you're OUT. Get it together!

Stay away from the bison burger unless you love extremely dry and flavorless meat. Tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp for 4 hours. Service was awesome, only reason I gave it 2 stars. Atmosphere was weird, very quiet and no music, we felt like we had to whisper.

I’ve had great experiences at other Mesquite Pit locations, which is why this visit was disappointing. Our server, Kelcie, seemed rushed the entire time, and the service felt inconsistent. My mom’s coffee even had whole coffee grounds in it. Every time we asked for more coffee, we had to remind her to bring creamer... it never came unless we asked again. For a bill of about $140, the service and attention just didn’t match the price or the experience I’m used to from this restaurant. The food was okay, but the service brought the overall experience down. I hope this location improves, because the other locations have always been excellent.

This place should be called Salt Lick instead of Mesquite Pit. All I could taste was salt. The onion rings had zero flavor and the corn dodgers were cold. They should have taken some of the salt from the brisket and added it to the batter for the onion rings. At least the waitress refilled our drinks but she forgot the rolls even after we asked.

This brisket was laid on the plate and reheated. The taste was ok. But I could not get beyond the difference in color from heat exposed to refrigerated. The portions exposed to reheating were very dry and crunchy. For anyone visiting Texas. Please do not consider this Texas BBQ.

This was by far the worst dining experience I've had in America! We waited 20 minutes just to be acknowledged by someone, there were only 2 customers when we arrived. The waiter had a bit of an attitude. The food was absolutely terrible, the best thing we had was the cornbread (not even by a little either, by a ton!) Every bit of meat any of us had was extremely dry, as well as bland and flavorless. They claim they have the best margarita's in the county, probably to entice people to drink before eating. As you would notice how terrible the food is otherwise. Went for my daughter's birthday, spent over $110 before tip. And none of us could even stomach how bad the food was, I would never recommend this place to anyone. I highly recommend that it be closed. Nobody should have to endure this terrible food ever, let alone pay top dollar for it. 10/10 will never visit again. The scenery was very nice though.
