Opinions de Stumptown Brewery Guerneville
Usually pretty quiet and without a big crowd. They have a great patio and an awesome beer selection. Great place to sit out on the patio or at the bar and meet the people around you. It has a really awesome atmosphere over the summer with the popularity of the river. Definitely one of my favorite places when I'm up near the Russian River area!
The brewery is a nice spot to chill and watch the river flow past, or even take in a game. The brew is good, the food is tasty, and the service is friendly. The deck overlooking the Russian River is very nice. There is also a grassy area between the deck and the river where you can relax or throw a ball around. There is a little sliver of beach that you can go down to when the water level isn't too high There isn't a lot of parking so be prepared to walk a little if it is busy.
Pro tip: don’t use the car wash next door it’s a dump. Stumptown however… AMAZING pit stop. My wife and I stop here every time we’re in the area. Currently sitting down for our second time in two days as we enjoy a getaway to the river. Food is on point. I don’t drink but they have excellent NA options (especially for a brewery). AND I know the beer they make is good too because I used to drink it years ago. Wings are a delight. As someone who grew up not far from Buffalo NY, these are as official as wings can get in California. Today we had the pork tacos and they were SO GOOD. I will be back for many years to come.
Tasty bar food for a snack, but the beers and the views are something else! It is such a pleasant experience here to get a nice beer and to relax next to the river at their dockside seating. The service we experienced was amazing as well! Try something new! Stop by and take a moment to pause your busy life and just enjoy a peaceful beer. This place is the perfect spot to just do that!
Beautiful views of Russian River. I had the grilled chicken sando and it was bomb. Good beer too (I had the wheat). Pool table and plenty of TVs for sports.
Had an overall good experience stopping by for lunch. Food was surprisingly good, although service is definitely on the slower side, taking 30-40 minutes on a seemingly slower afternoon. Everything is self service, and you order food at the counter and drinks from the bar. If you're looking for a laid back pub style experience it's great, but you're definitely paying extra for atmosphere.
Awesome chill vibe, friendly service, bomb burgers, and very dog friendly. They have indoor seating, an open patio (with mini dog area) overlooking the river, and picnic benches and grass area right on the river, just an awesome atmosphere. Garlic fries so garlicy that they were green and you'll be looking for a pack of gum on the ride home, and I mean that as a compliment. Juicy burgers that hit the spot everytime. My only complaint is the beer was sub par, but still good. This place is definitely worth a stop.
Okay, so after looking at the reviews for this place I was a little reluctant to go here. It was nothing like the bad reviews said. The service was totally fine and everyone was polite and friendly enough to. The beer was good, and the double cheeseburger was delicious!!!! One of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere outside was great and me and my two friends had a blast. Great location, great experience. Maybe it’s hit or miss, but this was a HIT. I’ll stop by every time I come through.
We stopped in our way back from Anchor Bay, having a Lonely Goat and El Luchador, nice and crisp flavors.
What a great brewery right off the highway! We biked here from our hotel and needed a place to grab a cold drink and some carbs. Stumptown Brewery did not disappoint. Their large backyard patio overlooks the river, and there's plenty of space to spread out. There were many dogs but they have a sign for no cats (not sure why the cat hatred lol). I had the bacon bleu burger, which was so rich and huge that I couldn't finish the whole thing. It definitely helped power me back to camp. I really liked the Oktoberfest, and my friends enjoyed their Pilsner. All in all, we'd definitely come back next time we're passing through town.
Very inviting and lovely vibe with great river view, dog friendly, food was delicious and everyone was happy :) Had a great time there
Perfect spot to have a break and a beer. Hot tip, head down to the picnic tables near the river out back, super beautiful place to enjoy a beer. Dog and hippie friendly, just have a different entrance than everyone else!
Cheers!! The beers are amaizing! We order some burgers, everything was delicious, I don’t understand how they do not put tomatoes on their burgers weird! Seems like a way for them to save money. The place is totally beautiful you can really enjoy while you are eating and drinking, there is a pool table for play!

Great local hangout with outdoor seating on the River!. This is a must stop for those hot days on the Russian River. It was 93 today, but the shade with a river breeze was comfortable on the deck. They have a good selection of house brews with daily specials and a few mixed cocktails. Bar food is available, it's the normal fair. Great quality, you won't be disappointed.

Funky Russian River brewery/bar. The inside is dark and reminds me of an English pub, but the outside has a great covered eating/drinking area with air hocky tables. There is a fabulous patio with views of the Russian River. On Monday nights a special caterer comes in and provides a wonderful barbeque, and soul food dinner. Ribs, collar greens, mac n cheese, sausage. Delicious! On other nights Wood fired pizza is available. Really good micro brews. if you are into paddle sports. you can paddle down the RR and stop beach your craft on the brewery's shore and come in for a drink or food.
Love this place, good beers and great cocktails with a magic setting on the river. The kind of classic Sonoma County bar/pub that is all too rare these days… Bartenders can be a little brusque but that’s part of the attraction TBH. Great margaritas.
This place is absolutely gorgeous. The view, the patio, the table space - everything is beautiful. We instantly regretted the nacho purchase. Please look into a different type of cheese and salsa on them, our group of 6 barely touched them with those flavors. The attitude of bar staff could definitely be kinder and more welcoming.
Cute brewery! We had lunch here on a Thursday at 2pm. Our jalapeño burger took 30 mins, but it was delicious. The fries are good too. They have one N/A beer option. This place is dog friendly and you can enjoy your meal right next to the river (they have picnic tables on the grass). Plenty of space and seating. I’d go back!
Decent beer. Was here in the rainy winter and would like to come back to enjoy summer by the river. Beer service was meh.
Excellent location on the river with a nice hardwood deck and beach access. Staff seems a little wary of outsiders (me) their kitchen was closed so I went to the taco truck outside, and ordered an awesome Fogata burger with fries, and inside, O ordered a pint of their crisp wheat beer. Nice experience.

The bartender, self admittedly, did not know anything about the beer, which I found to be quite odd. He couldn't describe or compare the IPAs. Not sure if he was new or if the staff just aren't required to know anything about the beer..? They also don't have flights or any pour options below 16oz which is pretty unusual at a brewery. The food was very mediocre. The outdoor space was lovely.
Walked over from a rental about an hour before sundown. As others have noted, it's not fancy, and the service is not friendly. That's cool, I don't need friendly. Placed our order at the bar, no problem. Beers acquired immediately. Cider and wheat as seen in the photo. Chicken sandwich and fries took an hour to arrive. There were 2 more steak fries than seen in the photo -- I couldn't wait. That said, they were overdone, too crispy all the way through. Sandwich was okay, more onions than necessary, as you see. Nothing to write home about, especially at the price. And the wait. And the mosquitos.
Great view of the river But food and drinks are hit or miss My girlfriend got a mixed drink at the bar and a brisket sandwich with corn bread. The drink started like watered down canned fruit juice. The brisket sandwich was dry to the point where the bbq sauce that it was slathered in didn’t help. Pic of the cornbread included was the driest little puck of cornbread I have ever tasted in my life. I got a cream ale and the bacon blue cheese burger. The beer was alright. A little darker flavor that I was expecting from a cream ale. The burger was pretty dang good. I liked that they put a fair amount of blue cheese in it. The service at the bar was ok. Quick service. The food on the other had. Took quite awhile. About 30 minutes. On a very slow seeming day. I’m assuming it was the brisket that took extra long because my burger and fries were cold. 2 other groups that also ordered burgers got their food before ours was ready. Was worth a shot might have just been an off day. May the odds be in your favor.

Have heard great things about this place (as far as food goes anyways; not a drinker, so didn't come for the beer), but left pretty disappointed. First of all, parking is real limited, so expect to have to park across the street and cross. Not a huge deal, but traffic on that section of River Road can be scary to have to navigate, so be warned. The actual location is super cool though. Nice atmosphere, a bunch of tvs playing sports, and the back deck area is beautiful. You can even go down to the river if you want, and they have a dedicated spot for (well behaved and friendly!) dogs. Staff seemed super friendly as well. For food, you order at a dedicated station, get given a buzzer, and then wait to go grab it. The group got a couple burgers and a brisket sandwich. For drinks, you've got to go up to the bar and order what you want. We ended up waiting nearly 45 minutes for our food to be ready, and it was definitely not worth it. As a note, this WAS during a bunch of football games, so I can understand a bit of a longer wait, but not that long! The burgers were super basic with almost no flavor (clearly just the cheapest frozen patties they could use). They were also criminally small. Same with the cafeteria-tier buns. The normal fries were alright, and the garlic fries were mostly ok, but not only do you only get a fairly small portion, the garlic fries were soaked and pretty mushy by the time we got to eating them. The brisket sandwich was OK, but was pretty dry, and for something like $20+, just wasn't worth it (at least the burgers were only like $12.50, which is a steal compared to some places nowadays). Obviously, I'm sure if you're going there to sample the beers, having basic pub food is all you need, but if your main reason to go is for food, I'd recommend elsewhere (the restaurant at the Northwood Golf Course 10min up the road is FAR better).

First time going to Stumptown and to be honest I was a little disappointed. If you are looking for a fun little spot to grab a beer with a buddy this is the place for you. The patio area was really nice over looking the river. Due to COVID we had to order our food at the door (the food was way too pricey for what you got) and then pick it up at a different window. We also had to clean out dishes and table before we left. My husband and I got the pulled pork sandwich and the polish dog to share together and both were not good at all. On the menu it said that pork was smoked for 12 hours, I don't know what happened in those 12 hours but it had no flavor and was dry (even with coleslaw on it). Thank God the beer was good and the staff was friendly.
Food was slightly above average - but definitely not worth waiting an hour and forty minutes for. Asked for some sort of compensation, since our kids were melting down at that point, and was told "if we gave you a discount then we'd have to give everyone a discount". Based on the lack of empathy it seems like this long of a wait is pretty standard...so beware.
I have been there twice. The first time the bartender had an attitude because I sat at the bar with a caffeine free drink I brought in and I don't drink alcohol while riding my Harley. She knew I was not a paying or tiping customer to her bar but I did get a good burger. The second time I came in I got two feet in the door before the same female bartender told me to take my drink out and it was not allowed. I got back on my bike and rode of to another burger place that was a much better experience.
We recently stopped by Stumptown Brewery looking for a potential venue for a birthday party of 100+ people. The look and vibe of the place were fantastic, and the outdoor area along the river would have been perfect. Unfortunately, our experience with the staff made it a hard no. As soon as we arrived, a waitress yelled out in a vulgar tone that their property was “for paying guests,” which shocked us. We had planned on having lunch and drinks, but after being treated so rudely, we just grabbed a couple of beers to go. We ended up renting out a large bed and breakfast for the party instead, and it was a wonderful success. Too bad—this spot could have been perfect, but after reading other reviews, it seems like this place actually prides itself on being rude.

Ordered burgers to go, blue cheese burger with grilled onion, came with red, told them no tomatoes came with, suppose to be medium well came rare. Ordered a western bacon cheese burger that also came rare, hamburger buns were soggy and unedible.fries were fried to a point of a cruton and burnt. Service was rude. Not worth the money
After spending a great day by the river with my fiancée and a friend, we decided to try out a local spot in Guerneville that was recommended to us. It’s known to attract a biker crowd, which made me hesitant, but the place was relatively quiet when we arrived, so we gave it a shot. As soon as we walked in with our dog, we were aggressively told to leave by a man who wasn’t even an employee—just a bald, heavy-set regular sitting at the bar. He immediately told us to get out as if he owned the place. Sadly, instead of correcting him, the staff backed him up without question, and we were made to feel completely unwelcome. Rather than escalate things, we respectfully left the front and went around back, hoping to still enjoy our time. The most disturbing part of the experience happened when my fiancée went to use the restroom near the bar. She overheard the regulars—older men around their 50s—openly using racial slurs, saying things like “these beaners think they can come in here with their dogs,” while laughing and carrying on with the bartenders, who did nothing to stop it and actually seemed to encourage it. As a Hispanic couple, hearing that kind of language is beyond upsetting. As a military veteran, it’s absolutely disgraceful to witness this kind of open racism, especially in a town known for being inclusive. The staff’s complicity in allowing and even participating in these remarks is inexcusable. My fiancée didn’t tell me what happened until we got home, and I’m honestly glad she waited. If I had known what was said at that moment, things might’ve turned out very differently. This review is not written for sympathy—it’s to let others know what kind of place this is. No one should be subjected to blatant racism, especially not in public spaces where staff and regulars feel entitled to spew hatred without consequence. Management should seriously reconsider who they allow to represent their establishment, both behind the bar and in front of it. To those regulars who felt brave enough to say those things out loud—shame on you. And to the bar that enabled them: do better.
This was my second and last time trying to visit Stumptown. The first time I visited the same bartender was working and I could tell by he body language she did not appreciate me as a patron. I bought a burger and brought my own drink that must not contain caffeine. My first visit was pleasant enough but as I said she did not like the way I was not ordering a drino, I'm also riding my motorcycle. So today I thought I would go there again hoping for a better experience and I was way wrong. As I walked in the blond bartender with her attitude told me I would have to take my drink outside, so I did. I took my drink to Carr's Drive In, in Forestville for a delicious Bacon cheeseburger, onion rings and MY caffeine free drink no stink. YOUR LOSS DUR TO YOUR EMPLOYEE. HIRE HAPPY PEOPLE, NOT MISS BLONDIE. I got for the experience, she tucked all the life out of my and I'm sure many other people's experiences.
Should come with a sign "Locals Only". As several other reviews have mentioned, the bar staff are not welcoming at all. We stopped in while in town for the marathon and coming down out of Armstrong Forest. One of our party asked a simple question about what would make a cream ale different from a regular ale and was given a snarky, rather unhelpful answer by the bartender. We watched her behaviour with several other customers and noted the same altogether unpleasant demeanour. The actual bar was lovely and the "beach" seemed nice but we couldn't get past the tense atmosphere and sidelong glances we received from the other patrons.
They don't want your business. We stopped in to get food and beers. Upon approaching the kitchen we were ignored for about 10 minutes while the female employee concerned herself with policing a man for simply existing. She kept yelling at the man to "get down", claiming he was sitting on the patio railing. We watched him and he was not. She then began arguing with other staff and tried to get them to yell at the man with her. When she finally gave us attention she had major attitude and refused to answer questions about the food. Not even a "thank you" could be mustered. The bartender was on the same level as the kitchen staff. Super rude and not wanting our business. The beer is nothing special, nor is the food. As we ate we saw another employee approach the table next to us and began cussing out a group of 4 people demanding that before they leave they bus their own table.
This place is an absolute joke. The service is is zero. Like there is no wait staff. No great at the door. The bar tender seems to stumble and Alcan not complete a sentence when asked a simple question. Zero customer appreciation. Jenna is at the bar apparently worked her way up to the owner and is so snooty and stuck up she can't move much less talk to her guest. For the 100 dollars I just spent, I not only had to serve my own table. Bus my own table. The table was filthy apon arrival. And the food is cold. I feel more like an inconvenience then a guest. Truly embarrassed to have brought my daughter to this place. Peter the owner needs to step it up but he thinks he is better then the entire river. 15 years here. Absolutely worthless. Can't believe that this place is in business.
