Great food. The jalapeno poppers and carrot cake were some of the best I have had. The meat in the smash burger was done perfectly. The ribeye tacos were really good. Everyone liked their food except the bologna sandwich which was very salty.

We live in the Lindale area and this was our first time here. Wife and I love to drive to different local restaurants around East Texas. We had the fried onion (Rooster Tail) appetizer and it was the best we have ever had. We also both had the chicken fried steak. Very good food. Not great, but very good. No gristle inside the steak (YEA!) but the batter could have been a bit thinner for me. Sides were very good and flavorful. Service was a disappointment as there were only about 2 or 3 other couples there. Had to get up and get someone’s attention to get a tea refill - and the attitude - I was an inconvenience. I know and understand staffing difficulties and all places have an off day, but there were several staff on hand. They just weren't paying attention to their customers. We will definitely go back and give it another try.

First time patron at this establishment. We were told to sit wherever we'd like. There's an option for indoor or outdoor. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We ordered fried pickles, raspberry iced tea, honey bourbon salmon, and a patty melt. My spouse truly enjoyed his meal because he ate every drop of his and assisted with mine (I had to get a take home package). The interior is unassuming but well kept. Loved the uniqueness of the varying tables and chairs. The menu options were favorable for varying pallets and dietary restrictions; although there were only green beans and asparagus as vegetable options. Must say, the fried pickles were a little spicy but were thinly sliced and cooked to a crunchy perfection. The french fries also displayed a heightened seasoning flavor. While my novice pallet could handle the flavoring in shifts, I would hope a toned down version is an allowable request. This was definitely a nice treat for this pescatarian.

Emily was super nice but you should only go here to eat if you have at least a couple hours. VERY SLOW indeed. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was great, but the 2 little pickles and the little splash of sauce ain't gonna do. Who the hell is sabotaging the restaurant with the way they dress the entrees??? I see a lot of complaints about this. They charged me for extra sauce for the rooster tail onion blossom. Serving a tiny dish of sauce for a huge onion is purposeful, just so they can charge you extra for it. I won't be going back. I don't have that kind of time or patience.

We were impressed with the waitress as she handled all of the tables alone and still did a good job. Our food was all pretty good except for the pasta in the Cajun pasta dish, it tasted like a salt block. This place has a great environment but can get a bit cold since the barn doors don't keep out the weather very well, wear a jacket and you'll be fine. I very much felt that the food (except my pasta) was worth what we paid. I will come here again to try out some other foods.

I loved the atmosphere, and the food was good. Either they’re understaffed or our server was just hiding out back smoking cigarettes or something half the time. It took forever to get drinks ordered, it took forever for the drinks we ordered to leave the bar and actually make it to our table. I would go again because I really liked the place but not the service.

I had heard a lot of great things about this place. We went for karaoke night and greatly enjoyed that part of the event. BUT, if you want your food carried away by flies this is your place. We were sitting inside the restaurant in front of the stage. They even provide you with little windmills for your table. 🙄 Our table was scared to think about the flies in the kitchen, or did they have more tiny windmills by each plate as they are plated. 🤷‍♀️They were out of napkins and they substituted the menu at their discretion. Overall the stage and karaoke person were great! I know this place is in a small town, but they can do better.

Dropped in for dinner for hubands birthday because it's close. It was karaoke night!!! Huge mistake!!! Loud, horrible singers, we couldn't talk sitting next to each other. I didn't get the drink I ordered & the margarita was not cold, just a little cool with no ice in it. The salmon was over cooked until it was blackened on one side & almost tough. I would've said something but our waitress was MIA. I tried when I noticed the drink as she set it down but she was gone in a flash. Didn't go there very often anyway, maybe once or twice a year. Veggie combos on burgers, nachos,etc. are frozen together so you can't leave something off. Burgers are 1/2 pound, so too big. I won't be back for another year.

Not impressed for our first visit there. We ordered the Red Rooster burger and the patty melt to-go. The burger was bland and D.R.Y.!!! A mini flake of what was supposed to be lettuce was barely visible. The tomato slice (singular) was so thin you could read through it. And three pickle slices with two thin rings of onion. Did I mention it was bland and DRY? The patty melt was just okay. The meat was also bland and dry. Had to add lots of ketchup and mayonnaise. Plus it had a hair in it. Yuk! The mini-fistfuls of fries were greasy and soggy. For $26 it was nothing special. Not sure we’ll give it a second try. Too bad, we always try to support local places.

We had friends in town from Houston and thought we would send them off with a good lunch. When we walked in we were promptly seated with no problem even though the place was pretty full. The waitress was good and took our drink orders and helped us with the menu selections. After that it was a disaster and very embarrassing to us having told our guests how great it was. We waited an hour and forty-five minutes for our orders to start coming out. The red rooster burger and fries were good but it’s hard to mess up. Grilled catfish was paper thin and over seasoned. Two very small filets and the hush puppies were raw inside. The chicken fried steak was good but the green beans were again over seasoned(salty) and too much oil or vinegar. Waitress did her best but clearly your kitchen was understaffed and unprepared with no upper management there. Options are limited in Hawkins but this was outrageous. We were brought a basket of chips and one little bowl of salsa after 45 minutes which helped but even those were not warm and very bland. We left very disappointed

We had a party of 5. The place was pretty full. The waitress told us when we orders that it would take about 45 minutes to get our food. It took over an hour…no biggie. I could not believe it when mine arrived. It was a joke. I ordered grilled chicken and vegetables. It came with one grilled chicken tender (yup for real), 4 pieces of asparagus and a little pile of brussel sprouts. Hahahah…really. Please see the picture below. Another in our party ordered a hamburger and it arrived after all of the other people had finished eating. The burger took 1 hour and 35 minutes to arrive! Anyway, the food others ordered (chicken fried steak and nachos) was good. Overall, the experience was world class HORRIBLE. Definitely NOT recommended.

My husband and I were toddler free tonight and decided to get out and try something different. Unfortunately, we probably won’t return. We were sat and greeted fairly quickly. Our server was very nice but it was almost half an hour between when we ordered our drinks/appetizer to when he came back to take our order for entrees. Shortly after our pork rinds and queso arrived. This was the best thing we had and admittedly they were incredible. Very fresh and were seasoned perfectly. We waited almost another hour for our food to arrive. My husband ordered chicken tenders with fries and okra and I ordered the fried bologna club. I love fried bologna but was sadly disappointed by my sandwich. The bologna itself was so mushy when I bit into it that it was off putting to eat and it was a mix of strange flavors. My husband said his food was okay but pretty mediocre and nothing to write home about. Our biggest issue was the time and lack of communication. Our server was nice but some acknowledgement that our meal was taking an inordinately amount of time would have been appreciated. Maybe it was an off night and we ordered poorly. We liked the atmosphere and if you just wanted to go kick back and have a drink it would probably be fine. The food just missed the mark for us.

Update at the answer: Yes please refund our money. We arrived at 12:05 and I was outside with our 2yr old when my husband called at 12:55 informing me we would leave. My husband is whom waited for the check. We waited over an hour, and the food never arrived. Frustrated, we decided to leave, but my husband, thinking he was just paying for the drinks (water and orange juice), accidentally paid the full bill of $48.71. They charged us for food we never received. Completely unacceptable, so we definitely do not recommend this place.

The atmosphere is great for just having a drink. Not for food. The entertainment was good. Food literally made me very sick all night. We waited 1 hour and 10min for our appetizer to arrive and it arrives cold. Our waitress was slow and mostly hidden somewhere, it was hard to ever find her. She wasn't very good at her job. We were told the delay in the kitchen was due to filling doordash orders over customers in the restaurant. Our meals arrived 1hr and 30min after placing our order. The service was ridiculous! Food arrived cold and we didn't even want to finish our food. We certainly didn't want to wait another 90min for it to be remade. Then we go home and I was so sick all night. Mind you, neither of us are picky eaters and have big appetites, so this is bad. We don't recommend eating here. You can tell it could be amazing but things like this will ruin it.

My mom and I came here today to eat lunch together. She ordered the Chicken Fried steak, macaroni and cheese & mashed potatoes. I got the ahi tuna tower which is always delicious. Actually, the only thing I ever order here, the Chicken Fried steak, on the other hand was very thin way too much batter, very chewy. The Mac and cheese was very bland no flavor mashed potatoes, no flavor so my mom did not want to say anything, but I said, no. So I did. Our waiter did not apologize. Did ask if she She wanted to order something else.She said no. She got a to go box for the Chicken Fried steak. Just so she could take the batter off. Cut up the meat for her dog. She should have never had to pay for her meal. Our waiter did not even apologize until after she paid. This is the 3rd time we've been there. And for some reason, even having a new menu, the food is just not up to par. And that's why I only get the ahi tuna tower because it is delicious even though they ran out of Wasabi. My mom was very upset. Probably won't come back.

My husband had catfish and I had chicken fried steak .My steak was good but tasted frozen ,not fresh and oh my I asked my husband to try his fish and tartar sauce. Fish was fishy taste and sauce was sour .Not good at all .They need more help there .Takes to long for them to come to table .Left 3.00 tip because we had to ask for our stuff and the young man was real busy .It was only 4pm in the day expected more .Bathrooms were nasty.I was disappointed thought my experience would be better .Also I saw on review about fly comment lol and owner said you must have sat outside. I was inside and experience alot of flys .Wish I had read reviews before coming
