Opinions de New Chilli and Curry Hicksville
I almost didn't go in because of what it looked like on the outside, but as soon as my g/f and I walked in, we knew this place was the real deal. The decor was on point, the staff was super nice, very friendly... and the food was excellent. My g/f got the mango chicken, and I got the boti lamb kebab. They serve it in dishes that are easily shared amongst the table, so we were able to try everything without having to reach for each other's plates. Both dishes were excellent. It was a great experience the whole way through. I will definitely be going back there, and I live in Suffolk.
I absolutely love the food here. The service is quick and friendly. However, it is a small but popular place, so there is a usually long wait for a table during the weekend. (Although it is worth the wait)If you don't want to wait, I would recommend ordering takeout, which is also done well or go on a less busy day. Unfortunately , you can't make reservations, so it wouldn't work well to come with a big party.
The very best Indian food! We’ve been coming for years and we’ll keep coming!
Some of the best Thai and Indian food I've ever had. Spicy and authentic, not "Americanized". Place is small so there is always a wait but it's worth it. New update 9/2025: They are BACK!! Oh how I missed these guys. Updated 5/2023: Not the same as it used to be. Has lost its charm completely. The food is bland, my vindaloo had no spice at all. It's no longer worth the trouble finding parking nearby to go here. So many choices in Hicksville, they need to step up their game
This is a great example of a local family owned restaurant. Expect a wait because the restaurant is small. They do a huge take out business. Staff makes you feel very welcome. Huge menu of Indian and Thai dishes. Breads are incredible. I love the nan and the onion Kulcha. You have to try the Manchurian cauliflower app. Main dishes are not huge, but so flavorful. Curried goat is awesome. Fish dishes are fresh with plenty of healthy choices. Try this place but get there early.
Super delicious and spiced Indian, Chinese & Thai food. Place not too big and there normally a wait, is worth for the lip smacking delicious food they serve. Nice courteous and welcoming staff. I would surely recommend this place for food lovers especially if they love spiced food. Like it of this review has helped.
Had a wonderful meal with great service. It's a nice warm atmosphere inside. Got the Chicken Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Mango Lassi and Bread Basket - Naan, Garlic Naan, Onion Kulcha. Chicken was moist and not dry in either dish. Highly recommend visiting. Pricing was very fair.
Have come here at least 5x in the past couple years. Every dish will have you completely satisfied (portions, quality, spice level). We've been to every food spot in the area and if you know about the area you know there's an abundance of this cuisine. I usually get 2 desi dishes and 1 asian everytime I come so I've tried almost half the menu. Everything is authentic, fresh and the service is outstanding.
Great food and awesome recommendations from manager sanker never had better food both veg and nonveg like that before.
Great selection of Indian and fusion Thai food. Food is consistently good, never really have a complaint. Place is small and gets filled quickly. Parking not too great, may have to park and walk a block. Highly recommend checking this place out, you wont be disappointed.
Love it! They r always busy but food is worth the wait. My fav is the cauliflower appetizer. Also the woman who calls females "madame" is super nice. There's a guy there who's also nice, can't describe him :/. They've been there forever :)
Hicksville is known colloquially as "Little India". Route 106/107 is peppered with Indian dress shops, bakeries and sweet shops, restaurants and salons. Tucked away on Woodbury Ave, New Chili and Curry is without a doubt my favorite/go-to for Indian food. The staff is always friendly and happy to see you. I've never left disappointed with either the food or service. This was the first place I've had Indian food. The interior isn't very large, but that's what I like about it. It can get close and a little loud, but I find it charming. I recommend getting there before the dinner rush starts. Sometimes waiting to be seated can take about an hour. They do have take-away available.
Delicious food. Small venue so the wait can be longer during the weekends if you go during a busy time. Service is good once you get in. They cannot handle larger parties because of the limited space, so use caution if you have more than 4-5 people.
The atmosphere was great. Nice small place with great service. The food was outstanding. Great job and I will be going back very soon
Seriously good! Went there for dinner tonight and the place was packed! There were people waiting outside! Although they were very busy the staff were all really friendly and inviting, it didn’t feel rushed. Great customer service from the hostess to the busboy. The food was FANTASTIC! To start I tried their Paneer Tikka, Samosa chat & tum yum soup. For the main course I went with their vegetable manchurian in gravy with spicy garlic friend rice it was all so delicious! 10 out of 10 if you’re reading this and are thinking of trying them out do it, you won’t regret it!
This place is a hidden gem. It is a must when you want Indian food. I love coming here with my family. Chicken tiki masala is the best. Mango lassi is also very good and garlic naan is a must in your order. I have tried other places around Long Island and Queens and this place is still the very best. Their service is exceptional. They are very attentive
The best of the best. The food is incredible and they’re the nicest people. One of the best lunches on Long Island!
My husband and I have been coming here for 7 years or more—honestly don’t remember how we found this place but SO glad that we did. Their food is some of the BEST Indian food I’ve had in NY and that says a lot because I grew up here and have tried almost every Indian restaurant there is. I love the staff here—especially the middle aged woman who usually is running the place. She & the staff are always kind, attentive, and personalize your experience. Especially love their hot and sour soup & tom kha soup here. Honestly can’t go wrong with any of the entrees here.
Food was amazing, especially the garlic naan and the chicken pang. Service was friendly and the staff were so nice and welcoming! The food came out faster than we expected (15 minutes). My family and I had a pleasant experience here and we are excited to come back again!
Been a few years since I've been here. Very happy to know the food is still absolutely amazing! Chicken momo, ginger chicken and baighan barta are exceptional
I only got takeout from here but in the future id love to have a sit down meal here. Super cozy spot and the guy who helped me was super nice. Chicken Makhani was to die for as well!! Def gonna make this a frequent spot!
We've been coming here for over 2 years now and they have yet to disappoint us. Food is always fresh and the flavors omg it will make your mouth dance. Staff is always friendly and smiling, great place if you love spicy, fresh, delicious food. The vegan menu is also very good.
I used to go here when I went to law school. It's one of my FAVORITE restaurants - such amazing food and warm service. The owners are the sweetest couple and they make you feel right at home. LOVED the spicy cauliflower and the deep fried fish. Finish off your meal with a mango lassi and think about all the good things in life.
Service was great, interacting with my son. We arrive a few minutes before open and walked in accidentally. We went back to the car, and a few minutes later, a waiter came out to wave and let us know they were ready for service. Food was great, loved the vege paneer curry and the fact that they had both rice and noodles for their lunch buffet. Only wish 2 things that would have made this perfect (and probably the line out the door) - to have chili chicken and a small dessert dish with their weekend buffet, but totally wishful thinking and self serving, I could have ordered both if I REALLY needed them. Loved the ambiance and service levels. Their naan was good too, nice and doughy, but not overboard.
This is my go to place for Indian Chinese fusion food on Long island. The food has so much flavor it is a must. The restaurant itself is very small and can probably site around 30 people comfortably. The lines to get a table on Friday or Saturday night can be up to 45 mins wait, but it's worth it. I have also done take out from here and the food is just as good.
Good spot for Indian food! They have Indian, Thai/Chinese and fusion dishes. Main go-to spot in the area. Been here many times and never a disappointment. Food has been good dine-in or takeout. Street parking but it has never been an issue.
The food was amazing!!! I loved the atmosphere so much. The service was also great. Shankar made sure to take care of my party and gave us good recommendations.
Hidden gem for fusion food!! This place has been recommended to me by word of mouth from people all over Long Island. I finally had the opportunity to get dinner to go and I was blown away by the food. I placed a larger order to share and got the chicken samosas, bread basket, chicken chili garlic noodles, mango chicken, and goat Rogan Josh. Literally every plate of this order was fantastic. The chicken samosas were a great size and the sauces that came with them really complimented the taste. There was one red sauce that was sweet, that worked the best for me. The chicken chili garlic noodles were just the right amount of spicy. Fresh noodles with great taste all around. A nice compliment to the non spicy dishes we got. The goat was much better than I thought it was going to be. I've had goat in the past and hated it. Having it the way this chef prepared it changed my view on goat meat. Tender chuncks of meat on the bone for more flavor with a wonderful thick sauce. This plate is a must try if you have never had goat. The mango chicken may have been my favorite dish of the night. The chicken was tender, the sauce was nice and thick, and the sweetness of the mango helped cool my taste buds from the noodles. I had some of this dish left over and reheated it the next day, just as good reheated. And of course I can't leave out the bread basket. All the types of bread were delicious. This is just a must to see what type you like the best and to scoop up all the delicious sauce from your dish. Don't let any of it go to waste 😋 Bottom line, if you skipped reading my long review and come to the bottom for if notes. EAT HERE!! You won't be disappointed.
Excellent Indian/Thai cuisine. The best and friendliest staff. Truly a hidden gem.
Went there for the first time this past week, and I had a great time there! The staff was so friendly to me, food was delicious, and it was a nice environment. Honestly the best Indian food I’ve had in the Hicksville area. Can’t wait to go back again!
Food was good, not exactly as great as the reviews, but maybe because I ordered just one entree and flatbread. The guy serving was a gem, excellent hospitality. However considering there was only one very efficient and hardworking person waiting on all the tables, the service was slow , hopefully it was an exception today and they have more staff regularly. Looking forward to visiting again.
Original owners are back. Best food is back. Great food ,outstanding customer service.
Personally my favorite restaurant all around, from the service to the food there is no place like it! My wife and I have been going to this restaurant since we have been dating about 12 years now. We now travel over 20 min just get takeout from them! I personally recommend the goat biriyani.
Food was great and owner was hospitable. Would definitely be back
Great food very fresh and tasty! The service is really good. The waiter was very kind and quick! Did an excellent job on taking such good care of our needs ( spice level, cleaning the table on time and the all details ) I wish they had the Indian Taj Mahal 🍺 beer that goes so well with the food! I will be a frequent client here! Thank you!
We've ordered a bunch of trays for our engagement party, and everybody at the party LOVED the food there. They all asked where we got it from. All the food was fresh and delivered on time with the Sterno's and chafing dish set up by them. I would highly recommend them
Love this hidden little gem. A friend put me onto it 13 years ago and it’s been consistently great ever since. The Drums of Heaven and momos are top notch. No joke~the naan is fantastic.
We were a party of 8, the food was great. The atmosphere was fun, there was cuisine for everyone. Amazing food, great service, fair price.
Wonderful experience! Truly authentic food! Loved the staff! Definitely will visit again
ATTENTION: To you veteran patrons of New Chili & Curry “THE ORIGINAL OWNERS ARE BACK.” My first visit to New Chill dates back 15 years, for countless years my family and I enjoyed 5 Star Indian/Thai fusion where the menu offers over 100 food items, each cooked to perfection. It seems after Covid the ownership/management changed hands, it was not the same. Well the original Allstar team is back and tonight’s dinner did not disappoint. The menu is the same and we ordered our favorites, it felt like we went back in time. So for those of you who have lost faith, consider faith no longer lost.
Been coming here for 10+ years and though I don’t live in the area anymore, will make a detour to see them. Favorite dishes are cauliflower machurian, daal makhni, and lamb pasanda. Every dish is great and the friendliest of staff.
Visited last month on 7/11 with a friend. I've known about this restaurant for some time and was on my list. The food and service were exceptionally great. The place was busy since it was a Friday evening. The cuisine is South Asian fusion drawing flavors from countries beyond India. We were glad we came here. I would visit again and recommend it to others!
Ate here with a friend for dinner last night and honestly everything was delicious. The drums of heaven were fantastic. We got chicken tikka masala, white rice, hakka noodles with chicken, bread bowl and szechuan chicken and it was all very good. The price was also extremely affordable. Will def be going back!
Delicious, cozy, and welcoming restaurant! Absolutely adore this place—you can feel the love when you walk in! The food is AMAZING and the staff is wonderful! LOVED the chicken tikka masala, the samosa chaat, and garlic naan (perfect amount of softness and crispiness)! Will definitely be back!!😍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
High Fives! i was traveling down the road, just minding my own my own affairs, when chili and curry caught me unaware. i am glad i followed my instincts, this place is a gem! my order: chicken vindaloo with a request for spicy. and drums of heaven. i found something to do for the 1/2 hour estimated time while they prepared this fabulous food. always take it as a good sign they make the freshest stewed delicacies. who am i to say they are the best? i am just gonna do what we all gotta do, Eat! but i can for certain say they did an excellent job making the food, and undoubtedly care for every dish that leaves their kitchen. when i am back next year for work. i will return a few times to check other offerings from this top notch establishment.
My experience at Chili and Curry was super wonderful. The wait staff is extremely attentive and the portion size is worth the price. I felt so full and satisfied by the end of my meal. I got the Hakka noodles, veggie samosas, Naravtan korma, and naan. I loved the Naravtan korma because I thought the cashew nut sauce made the veggies taste much more deletable.
Really good North Indian food. Some of the best chicken curry I've had (xacutti). Very good achari goat. The lamb thai curry was also quite good. Food ever slightly too salty but perfect if you like it with rice. Kulcha also was excellent. South Indian stuff was more hit or miss though. Good hakka noodles. The samosas were great, pakora left a lot to be desired. Of note, the menu on google has very out of date prices, and the menu on facebook is less out of date but still lower than what I was charged (each dish about a dollar more than fb, about 25 percent more than google). Would still definitely recommend.
Absolutely in love with this place. I went in with a vegetarian friend, who didn't enjoy it as much as me. So for all those of you who are vegetarian, they don't have too many options. The ambiance made up for it, she says. Their lunch buffet is only on weekdays and they charge around 10 per person, which I think is a fantastic price, for the quality of food. The number of dishes were limited, but they had the best of items, at-least on the day we went in. Definitely going again. Also, on random days, I crave their mutton biriyani - absolutely amazing.
Been here a couple of times, my wife and I never get past the appetizers. The drums of heaven and the chili shrimp are amazing. The veggie momos are very spicy but tasty, be careful! The most important part of the restaurant is the host, her politeness and energy are one of a kind. It wouldn't be the same without her.
Cozy intimate restaurant with about 8 tables. Restaurant is nicely decorated however getting on a little in age. Seating is very tight with barely enough space to get to some seats. Make sure you check the hours because they are limited. We were 4 and went for the weekday buffet. The butter chicken and goat dishes were excellent. Hot fresh Naan was brought to the table and refilled often. There were about 4 servers to 8 tables so service was top notch and friendly. Constantly clearing away used dishes and refilling water etc. The buffet was a steal at only 8.95 per person weekdays. Recommend you get there early for the best table and selections.
Great food that is somewhat a fusion. Mix of Indian. Chinese and Thai flavors in some of the dishes. Dishes are fresh and flavorful but are on the smaller portion side. Tried to eat in one day but the place is small and always full on the weekends with a wait of more than an hour. So always been taking out food here.
This is a modest sized Indian Chinese restaurant. The chicken Hakka noodles, and the chicken dumplings are a spot on North Indian take on Chinese food. The ambiance is nothing notable, but the place is reasonably priced and great for takeaway or a quick dinner. Worth a visit with kids and family for lunch or informal dinner. Service with a smile.
solid place. most of the time the meat is fresh, once in a while they might have some dry meat,..nobody is perfect. But sauces are always terrific and one, if not the best in Hicksville.
Food and service was excellent. The place is very small. We weren’t allowed to bring in our stroller because there was no room for it so I had to put it back in the car. It also gets very busy and loud. I couldn’t hear the person across from me. In the future I would probably only do take out from here.
Food and service is amazing. Every waiter and staff member have been lovely and happy to explain any menu items you have questions on or give suggestions. Have never eaten a bad thing here. Highly recommend the cauliflower manchurian. 4 stars is because parking is bad (in the whole area) and restaurant is very small. You can be waiting a long time if you want to dine-in. Go early or late, even on a weekday.
This time I just got their mango lassi and I must say it’s the better of the lassis in the area. It’s the perfectly balanced in yogurt, mango and sweetness. In general while I think their food is over priced I’ll still pay it because the curries are so very delicious. The inside is small and cozy and well decorated. I’d recommend both take out and dine in if you can get a spot.
We ordered A LOT and it was all delicious!!
I enjoyed the food here. Highly recommend the hakka noodles and most of the appetizers as well. We went on a very cold day, and there was a constant breeze coming in from the door opening repeatedly. Maybe a little heater inside would make it a bit more comfortable. Overall great chef and food!
The food is great here. If you are looking for authentic North Indian food, this is the spot. They do not serve alcohol on premise. However, they allow you to bring your own bottle. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because they forgot a dish I ordered. When I reminded them of it, they bought it out quickly and didn't let the peas cook thoroughly. It was hard peas in this dish. I have had their Mattar paneer in the past so I know what to expect. Needless to say, I will be back.
First time here and I will definitely give it another shot. We order the chicken vindaloo, fried shrimp with garlic and fresh chili , fried fish fillet in spicy oyster sauce. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the chicken vindaloo is a disappointment. This was the first time I tried vindaloo and it wasn’t spicy at all but more sour. I was def not a fan of that. If it was more spicy, def A plus. Overall the food was awesome and I will try it again !
Had dinner here recently and it was ok. Good but not special. Felt like everything needed a touch more salt to lift the flavors.
Food is delicious. My family and I gather here often. I've also catered a large outside event through them. My only issues throughout these years and many visits there, are the extremely long wait times and the fact that they haven't expanded their dining area to address this issue. Parking is also an issue but the wait and extremely small dining area are evidently very unreasonable. Basically, the dining area is a converted living-dining room of a small house.
Mediocre food with late service. Kept waiting for 35 minutes for starters and another 20 for main course to arrive. Portion size isn’t great either. Only saving grace was the paneer and bread basket that night. Schezwan noodles, fried rice, mutton gravy were all average.
Guess it depends on what you get to eat. Which sucks, spent about $60. The drumsticks and thai iced tea were good. My biggest disappointment: chicken jalfrezi. It is nOt chicken tikka masala that i ordered but apparently the meat from chicken Tikka which was pre marinated were put into a jalfrezi sauce that lacked any spice. The tomato base, the sauce was overwhelming. The navratan korma was OKAY. fried rice bland. My food was take out. But the ambience inside looked cozy so sucks I didn’t really enjoy my food. Was excited to try this place. Maybe if I wait few months and try different dishes..
One word summation: flavorful. All the dishes were packed with a punch from the soups to the entrees. Ordered the sweet and sour soup and Tom kha chicken soup- both were delicious. Tom kha was a bit salty for me but great consistency and flavor. We ordered *Hakka chili chicken - tender and juicy dark meat pieces, could have used more spicy. It was delicious but a little tangy for my liking *Chetinand chicken- delicious! Tender, white meat pieces, seasoned well, gravy consistency was excellent *Lamb biriyani- so much flavor in the rice and meat, but I think the dish needed to rest for a bit- the rice was still "wet" with seasoning. *Vegetable Manchurian- probably wouldn't order again...more dough than vegetables. But the sauce and seasoning used was very flavored
Buffet line was good for a lunch spot but the food was overwhelmingly underwhelming. I’m sorry to say there was no taste or seasoning which is disappointing for Indian cuisine. I asked for some spicy sauces but they came out only when I was almost done with my meal. The staff was also talking/arguing very loudly in the back during my entire meal. I wish you luck but I don’t think I’ll be dining here again.
We’ve been getting food here for a few years. Every single dish an absolute favorite until a few months ago. Very suddenly, the recipes seemed to change (I’ve read similar reviews saying they’re under new ownership). I wouldn’t say it’s bad, but it’s certainly not up to the standards we were used to.
The food tasted absolutely stale. The mixed grill doesn’t have much variety. Majority consists of the red tikka Kababs. Would definitely love to see more variety and taste. We ordered mild and still the dishes were super spicy. Regret to say that the place has lost its charm and taste, which at one time delivered delicious food. Not sure we’re gonna order again👎 Highly disappointed 👎😞😞
I had never been to this restaurant but heard it was well-regarded and even rewarded for its Indian cuisine. Today, my lovely boyfriend took me and we had no idea we would be in for one of the wildest experiences of our lives. We walked in and asked for a table for 2 at around 7:30 pm on a tuesday. The manager(?) started moving tables around the near empty restaurant and when he was ready he shouted, "come here!" as his way of showing us our seats. Upon being seated, our server handed us menus and said, "just so you know, we don't serve Chinese food". We were confused since we very much new this was an Indian restaurant and had no intention of ordering Chinese food. While we waited for our orders, the restaurant emptied and a server and the manager(?) started arguing over an order for delivery. The manager accused the server of lying and the server was not having it. So we just sat there politely minding our own business in this small restaurant where you can see and hear everything. Then, a disgruntled customer came in and complained to the manager(?) about his food. He apparently ordered food that had a rotten tomato and complained about how the food wasn't like it used to be. He asked if there was a change of management because of how different and bad it was. The manager just said no. Again, we politely minded our own business, now worried about the food we were about to receive. Our entrees were delicious and the restaurant was completely filled by the time we left (8:30 pm). If you are looking for dinner and a show (or two), this is the place to go.
Ordered Tom Yum soup and Thai fried rice (explicitly mentioned Spicy). Food came out bland within 5 minutes of us ordering. Mentioned it to the staff. They did take food in for consideration. Brought the food back the Soup tasted a lot better, While Rice was still lacking flavour and even salt. Have been here before and have always been happy with the food.
Always a great dinner. Well worth the wait to get inside! Definitely get there Manchurian Cauliflower appetizer! Totally delicious! Service always friendly and great even when crowded. The 'Old Monk' beer goes great with the dinner choices. EDIT: They lost their chef and have gone downhill. Very sad for what was a great restaurant.
Came here after several years, and I have to admit New Chili and Curry has lost a step. We ordered drums of heaven which were impressive in size but was over and undercooked. The CTM was inedible, the chicken was very rubbery (couldn't even break down with a spoon). The gravy was tasty however too much food coloring used. The Mali Kofta was taste was also off, cant really articulate this one well but something was definitely off. Service was good and friendly as always. Kinda pretty disappointed with the experience considering it was suppose to be a father son lunch
I ordered pad Thai today and either they made a mistake or it needs some serious updating because the noodles were plain noodles with shrimp and tofu thrown in. When I say plain, I literally mean they boiled the noodles and threw in some shrimp. They forgot all of the flavor... We also ordered the Tom yum soup and Hakka Noodles which were both okay. I am a normal food connoisseur so please take my opinion.
Haven't been here in 2 years but my fav spot just closed down so I thought I'd grab some Biryani for my co worker and I and I was very dissatisfied. It wasn't great long grain basmati but more like white rice, mushy and yellow but with no sign of traditional biryani spices. It was all yellow like colored Spanish rice and not traditional with spats of yellow and white peeking out. The chicken was bonless breasts barely spiced and seemed baked in a regular over and not a tandoor. The entire thing lacked flavor and was terribly bland. The only thing that was even somewhat decent was the Nan. I would expect this from a mall spot or lunch truck but not a long standing Indian restaurant in Hicksville of all places.
We ordered Fish Fillet in Oyster sauce—Needs more sauce and flavor. We asked for Spice level 8 but came out mild. Drums of Heaven,- Delicious Chilly Chicken Hakka Style—Good, Burnt Chilly Garlic Noodles- Average & Thai Fried Rice- Too plain no basil leaves looks n tastes like plain fried rice . This used ti be our favorite haunt for years until the management changed and the flavors dropped. New Management is back and food tastes better but still needs catching up.
Ordered Chicken lollipop, Chicken Fried rice and Chicken in Hot Garlic sauce. Lollipop was mushy and just completely flat. Not crispy at all. Fried rice was ok Chicken in Hot garlic sauce was sweet and felt like had honey in it. All in all a very disappointing experience. I have been ordering from here for many years now. The standard has gone down. Don’t think will order here at least in the near future. Feel sad since this place’s food was amazing
Been recommending this place for years. I've been a huge fan for as long as it's been open but just found out(after ordering and eating a bunch of items) the chef and ownerships changed......and so did the quality and taste of the food. We did take out as always and I called the restaurant after just 2 bites to inquire about the change as every dish was proggressivly terrible. So disappointed that one of the last Indian food places with consistently good food on LI is gone.
Horrible wait staff. Went on a Tuesday night with hardly any customers in the restaurant and the waiter still had a hard time taking my order correctly. I asked for the spicy peppers instead of the bell peppers in my chicken Karahi he said sure we can do that and ordered goat bhuna. He came back with chicken Karahi with the damn bell peppers in it and no goat bhuna. I waited and thought the goat will follow shortly which never arrived. When I asked where my goat dish was he said he thought I was just asking about the goat dish! I mean what??? Is this for real ??? Very disappointed with the whole experience. Food was just okay
I ordered from this place the other day. I ordered Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chana Saag, and Aloo Gobi. ALL of the dishes were bland (so much so that the food lacked the basic ingredients that create flavor in Indian food). This was very surprising to me considering the reviews. Will not be ordering from here again for the time being but hope they do better for those who genuinely love Indian food and is looking for a great eating experience.
Editing my 5 star review after 6 years. Food is disgusting and reheated. I don't know how Indian food can be made so flavorless. The meat smelled awful like its rotting.I took a few bites and decided to stop. Don't want to be ill for the rest of the week. Never coming back here. It's a shame because this used to be a good restaurant.
The food has gotten extremely bad over the years. They used to be the best INDO CHINESE in the area but now, the food gives diarrhea & tastes awful.
We went to Chili & Curry after a long time. We used to go here quite often pre - Covid. Our most recent experience was a complete, total, utter disappointment, especially when I compare with previous experience. It looks like the owners and/or management has changed.. and in a nutshell, this place has fallen from outstanding to below average. Food: Completely bland. No flavor at all. We ordered pretty much the same dishes that we used to order. The first thing I noticed was lack of seasoning and flavors. Chicken appetizer was overcooked and rubbery. I had trouble swallowing that hard, flavorless, bland rubber. I was only able to swallow with a gulp of water. Chicken entree was nothing to write about. Not even enough salt.. forget about rest of the flavor profile. (Previously, this place used to be our most favorite Indian restaurant.) Service: The waitress had no idea what she was doing. She and the other waiter cleared our plates before our full round of appetizers was served. When the manager/owner pointed out to her that we still had a couple of appetizers coming our way, she placed the old plates back. I honestly don't know whether or not she gave each of us our own plates back. By this time, we were so utterly dumbfounded, that none of us could think of what to say. She eventually gave us new plates and we finished our appetizer round. By the time we were half way through our main course, our disappointment was probably showing clearly on our faces. The owner/manager came to us asking if everything was fine. The way he did so was so apologetic.. it was like he knew he was serving bland/tasteless food with a less than mediocre service. (The service here used to be stellar. The previous owners, a husband-wife couple, used to provide such a homely and warm experience.) I am never going back there again. I genuinely felt bad for that place. We have such fond memories of the food and the service there. But with the new management/owners and the staff, this place is doomed.
Very bad experience i had today with my order. It was my mom’s birthday and i order the food and you can look by the pics which i ll post too with my review. Paneer burji is looks like something you can’t even tell what kind of sabji is this. First time i see white paneer burji. I also ordered veg jalfrezi and that turns out of tomato puree sabji straight from the can. I would not go to this restaurant ever again. Thank you ruining my mom’s night. I spend over $150 worth of my order and we ll sleep tonight without food. Thank you so much for that. The chef did not make my food today. It was pure unfinished leftover or I don’t even know what they give me.
This restaurant have pretty good review so My family went there for lunch on sunday about 1.30. There was 4-5 tables in small cage-like size . Two tables was served already and 3 tables is empty. And waiter saw us but he did not say anything. So we sat down at empty table and waiting for menu. Another waiter came to us and say “we are pick up only” . I asked what about other table? He answered something i cannot understand. He said “ we change pick up only from now. “. My kids feel so embarassed. BETTER Change a name from CHILI & CURRY TO RUDE & UNKIND. Even one star is generous. SHAME ON YOUR BUSINESS.
I ordered goat masala but instead of using goat meat they used lamb meat, and that was undercooked as well. Very disappointing
I ordered the Tom Yum soup. It was the worst I’ve ever had . They used tiny poor quality shrimps that people use as bait to catch fish. taste was horrible. In fact, it had no taste. I assume all the other food will also be tasteless. I would not eat at this place as the quality of food and ingredients is very very low.
Terrible place to come if u like to wait or don’t have any shame left then ur most welcome to come here. Very slow and very bad service they also make people wait and also uber and doordash driver are waiting and blocking to line and they don’t know how to manage the service. Freaking terrible. NEVER COME HERE.
