Excellent experience. Brittany was our hostess and was very efficient, prompt and genuinely cared about our experience. Food was superb. Wife had pan sowared scallops and I had braised beef short rib. OUTSTANDING QUALITY and amount was spot on. Superbly prepared. Brittany, THANK YOU for treating us so well !
Rode all the way from Virginia with some guys and ended up with some oysters from the James river which I appreciated. Had a beet salad that was quality, enjoyed some oysters with friends. Great views surround the building on nearly all sides, the woodwork of the building itself was super cool. Bar was nice with a decent drink selection, staff was knowledgeable and provided good service.
We had a reservation so there was no wait. I wish I had taken more pictures of the food but we dived in and I forgot. We were a party of 4 and this seems like a lot of food, and it was. For appetizers we had the fried green tomatoes, smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, oysters savannah and steamed oysters. Our entrees were Alaskan cod and beef short ribs. Everyone was very pleased with the food and service.
Hubby and I made reservations for Saturday night at 7:30 so only waited 5-10 minutes. The weather was cool and perfect for their outdoor seating with a fantastic view!! We split a plate and had plenty! Ordered a basket of hush puppies- dozen- wow! Very reasonable $! Waitress was very good! We will be back!
Great place! Shrimp & Grits, Pasta and oysters are very delicious. Oysters are fresh! Happy hour is 4-6pm and oysters can be half priced.
This place was absolutely amazing. By far the best food and drinks I have ever had. We ordered the garlic parmesan oysters, BBQ shrimp, fried calamari, and shrimp cocktail to start with. I ordered the strawberry basil mash off the bar menu. All was fantastic. I then ordered the crab cakes dinner, and my boyfriend and friend ordered the fried seafood platter which was incredible as well. We did feel like it was a little over priced for the portion size, but I’m willing to pay for good food. We even sat in the bar area due to the 1 hour wait, but the service was still decent. It was $172 for 3 people and we ordered appetizers. I would definitely suggest this place!!
Loved having dinner here! The atmosphere was beautiful with a gorgeous water view. We both enjoyed our dishes (pasta primavera and salmon), drinks were perfect and service was great! Kerry was our waitress and everything came out great - thanks!
I was part of a group of 16, and I can’t recommend this restaurant enough for how well they handled our table. Service was fast and friendly, and our server never once seemed flustered. Drinks were always refilled, and empty plates were cleared promptly. We started with drinks at the bar, and those didn’t disappoint either—the Bloody Mary was incredible. My favorite taste of the night was the butternut squash purée in the stuffed chicken dish. The chicken could have been stuffed a bit more, but overall, the dish was great. Between the excellent food, the smooth handling of a large party, and the gorgeous water views (perfect for pictures), this is a 10/10 recommendation.
We had a spectacular dinner here. The oysters were extremely fresh, and delicious. We both had amazing entrees. The atmosphere is great inside or outside. Great views of the water. I would say the only thing that lacked slightly was our server. At one point it looked intentional that she was not checking on us. We sat without drinks for quite some time. All in all a great meal.
Incredible views and incredible food! Service was excellent and friendly. Hush puppies were fantastic. They were busy, but attentive. Highly recommended! Sit on the deck by the water if the weather is good.
Our family has been coming here for over 20 years as we spend our summer vacations on Hilton Head Island. We come with large family groups, and they have never disappointed. I had the grouper and it was cooked very well as you would expect a fish restaurant to handle it. My wife had the short ribs, and she enjoyed them very much. Jenna did a great job as our server and the manager was very nice. This is definitely a recommended go to stop on Hilton Head Island, especially if you have a large group. Also, while you’re waiting for your table, the back deck is a nice place to hang out and enjoy the view of the marsh. This time we came in September, butwhen we come in the summer, when they usually have live music out there. I definitely recommend this place. We will be here again next year.
All I can say is WOW. Went Friday evening for dinner and had made reservations in advance so no wait time. The food was phenomenal! We all tried a little bit of everything but the favorites were definitely the oysters, clams, and short rib. Everything was amazing. Our server Carlos was very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive to everything. This restaurant is definitely on the pricier side so be prepared to drop some money. However, you get would you pay for… definitely worth it.
One of our absolute “must-visit” places at HHI. I’ve never been disappointed. Food, service, and atmosphere are always superb. I highly recommend the crab cakes and short rib for entrees and the flourless lava cake as a dessert.
We sat outside on the porch. We were able to watch a local fisherman cast his shrimp net right off the dock. Their was live music and an amazing view. The food was terrific and the service was good. We will definitely be coming back.
My wife & I came here for our last night in hilton head & wanted to sit outside, when it got very sunny & hot they turned fans on, refilled water & kept checking on us. The food, oh my very VERY good. Highly recommend the smoked salmon appetizer! Definitely worth checking out
We have a great meal of fresh fish including Grouper and Swordfish. We sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful sunset. Our server Jeff was excellent.
Great first time experience. The view is incredible and the oysters were excellent.
We sat outside and enjoyed the beauty of the marsh while eating delicious oysters! The best in town. I highly recommend. Great service and atmosphere. The food is creative and delicious.
Hadn't been to the Oyster Factory in years but decided to go in for Valentines day. Kyle took great care of us and everything was even better than I remember! Started off with some Ladys Island and BluePoint oysters that were nice and fresh. The spicy tuna appetizer was awesome, a bit like poke. My Mahi and my wife's salmon were also delicious and presented beautifully. Everything was fantastic and exceeded my expectations
The experience here was really phenomenal and it all started when you pulled into the parking lot and are greeted by very friendly, welcoming parking staff. Yes it's that good and that busy where they need people to help you park after a brief snafu with our reservation and the hostesses it was smooth sailing from there. The crab artichoke dip was literally the best dip we've ever had in our entire life -not kidding! The food was phenomenal and the views were incredible: Morgan one of the managers there took care of us.
Great experience! Gorgeous views throughout the restaurant! Everyone in our party of 40 women seemed to really enjoy the food.
We had a party of 9 and the waiter was very good. Food selection was great also. One item we ordered was the crab artichoke dip as an appetizer. It was not good. Too much filler/bread crumb. Not enough crab or artichoke at all. I recommend not ordering it.
I have to say our server Rick was super friendly with the kids. The raw oysters have to be some of the best around, if not I need to know where the better ones are. It was a super cool environment being right there on the marsh. While waiting for our food we attempted to catch these little bitty crabs on the lower deck but had no success in that, we had fun trying though. The hush puppies were great the po boys were eh. Would love to check this place out again.
I love this place!! We have been coming here for 15+ years and every time is perfect!! Great back deck with a perfect breeze even in the dead heat of summer. Great place to see shelter cove fireworks (book in advance). We had Fergus as our server and he was an AMAZING server. He suggested the soup and even though it was hot out I’m glad I got it! I also had the grouper as my entree (that’s French for main dish). Wow!! The food was amazing and glad I got the chowda!!! Oh yeah… the cool kids club even stopped by for a picture!
A beautiful old oyster factory with views of the water. We enjoyed grouper, founder, calamari and raw oysters. All were delicious, this was my favorite meal while on the island and I would absolutely recommend it if you're looking for fresh and delicious seafood options. Our service was a little slow and she could have been more attentive and friendly but the views and the food made up for it. We did make a reservation, and I would recommend doing the same.
My family had dinner Saturday night at OOF and the food, service, and atmosphere was 10/10. The special was a whole snapper and it was cooked perfectly. Jordan was our server and was very attentive.
Really enjoyed dinner here, very nice views, friendly and efficient service. All the food was delicious, we had the spicy tuna and the firecracker shrimp as appetizers, I got the dayboat scallops and my husband got the grab cakes for dinner, everything was great!
Fantastic seafood restaurant. I don’t usually find excellent seafood in the US, this place is the closest I’ve had to good European coast restaurants. I wasn’t super hungry so I ordered the seafood chowder and the mussels with clams. Even though these were a light dish and an appetizer, it was definitely enough. The soup was some of the best chowder I’ve had. The mussels and clams were fantastic, well prepared and quality ingredients. It is a bit pricey but at least the food quality is reflected in the price. Definitely try this place.
We frequent Hilton Head but had never been to the Old Oyster Factory Restaurant. What were we thinking? The ability to make reservations for a party of 4, the view was beautiful, the restaurant inside was very nice with a nice amount of room and the food was amazing (oysters, beet salad, fried seafood platter and the seafood pasta and desserts)! I also want to mention that the hostess and our server (Clara) were excellent! Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Fantastic experience! Our wait staff was on top of things even though they were serving a very large party next to us as well. Beautiful views, fantastic food, great drinks! Amazing desserts!
This place was so beautiful, the food was incredible, and the service was immaculate!
Excellent variety of fresh oyster options. Fantastic happy hour specials. One member of my party said it was "the best ceaser salad that's ever had." Fried options were not the type of fried that seems heavy that you sometimes get. Good children's menu. The staff was top notch. Briana M., our server was excellent and never missed a refill and always seemed to be there right when she was needed. Ample parking, but it was filling when we left.
I ate so many oysters I almost fell asleep at the table. Definitely some of the best me and my family have ever had! It was my sister’s birthday and the flavors made her day. I don’t know who slept one night, woke up and thought of putting collard greens, pimento cheese, and a fried oyster on a shell but let me tell you. It was a dangerously flavorful combination we all enjoyed. The hush puppies were perfect and my drink was drinking. Not to mention my raw, fresh, delectably delicious raw Mayfield oysters. Next time we will try some of the other dishes you have to offer. I’d recommend this spot to anyone! And thanks for taking care of my wife with that awesome salmon board. She’s allergic to shellfish but didn’t feel left out. Lastly, thanks Diego for the prompt and perfect service.
The seafood is very good. Nice raw bar and good selection of oysters on the half shell. The location is beautiful. Come near sunset for breathtaking view while dining on the outdoor patio. But like any place on the water, bring bug spray. Servers were very attentive and well mannered.
Outside with a wonderful view... We were seated outside at sunset... by ourselves, in probably the best weather of the year. The craziest part was that everyone ate inside. 68 degrees outside ... no bugs and no humidity... This was a Sunday in April... One of the best dining experiences I have ever had... Best marsh view... and one of the best for sunset dining views on the Island.
We came for lunch this week and it was a great experience. The views are beautiful of the marsh in a peaceful setting, the food was very good and the service was phenomenal! I didn't love their crabcake which is why I gave it a 4...good but not a 5. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Old Oyster Factory in Hilton Head was an absolutely fantastic dining experience! The setting alone is worth the visit — stunning marsh views and one of the best sunset spots on the island. It has that classic Lowcountry charm while still feeling relaxed and welcoming. The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The raw oyster selection is simply amazing — incredibly fresh, well-shucked, and full of clean, briny flavor. If you’re an oyster lover, this is the place. The fish was cooked perfectly as well — light, flaky, and not overly heavy. Portions were generous without feeling overwhelming, and everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully seasoned. Service was attentive and friendly, making the entire evening smooth and enjoyable. Whether you’re a local or visiting Hilton Head, Old Oyster Factory is a must for delicious seafood, beautiful views, and a true coastal Carolina experience. We’ll absolutely be back!
We went there for restaurant week. This was my first time eating here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly, polite and professional. We ate off of thier special menu for restaurant week. I started with baked oysters with butter sauce, lemon garlic Romano cheese and creole seasoning, Very tasty. Main course was crusted pork chops with blue cheese and quinoa. Desert was bread pudding with a bourbon sauce and cheese cake. The food was very good. Great flavor and good size portions. I will definitely eat here again in the future.
We spend a nice time with my wife. Nice place. The weather was great and we sat outside. Cool service. We ate soup, starters (baked oysters) and fish. We didn't have room for dessert. I recommend Grouper and Swordfish. We'll get back there
Great staff, very good meal however certain items overly salty. Prompt service and marsh views all around.
On a September afternoon at 3pm you can get the best seats in the house! We enjoyed being able to look out over the bay while we ate our lunch. We would have loved to sit outside but the weather was not cooperating. Raw oysters were half price between 2-4. (We were there in a Monday), they were fresh and delicious. It was fun tasting different ones, especially for half price! The seafood chowder was delicious. Creamy and seasoned well. The peel and eat shrimp were a huge disappointment. Although easy to peel, they were a little mushy and had zero flavor and seasoning. So disappointing at a seafood place on the water where seafood is their specialty. It sort of ruined the whole meal for me. Also had the BBQ bacon shrimp appetizer. Very good but what could be bad about bacon and bbq sauce! For a recap, for two of us, we had 2 beers, seafood chowder, 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp, a dozen oysters, and the bbq bacon shrimp appetizer. $95. In my personal opinion it was not worth it. But maybe we just chose the wrong thing on the menu. One last note. We ordered from the lunch menu, which had very limited seafood selections on it, which was also disappointing. 4 stars was mostly for ambience.
Cool spot, good vibes. Beer is overpriced. 9.50 for smaller than a pint of their local lager - would give the beer 3/5 Will def stop back and try some food and possibly revise later.
The food was good but the service was bad. Waitress never came and gave us refills, we had to ask. It was our table and 3 other tables. She disappeared for about 20 mins and she messed up our tickets. Besides the waitress, we had a good time and will return again.
This restaurant was recommended by a concierge service. We were able to make a reservation same day and within 30mins of our arrival. To start we order the crab and artichoke dip with a sweet tea and a sparkling water w/ hemp. Our entrees were a seafood pasta and a Greek salad. Then my husband was gifted with a chocolate lava cake since it was his birthday. All the dishes were delicious, but the pasta was lacking in flavor just a little. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was bright/airy.
A gem of the low country, steeped in history and tradition, this is a local favorite and I can see why. While the menu is not as voluminous as other similar restaurants, there is something for everyone.
Beautiful restaurant with gorgeous views of the marshes all around! The selection for raw oysters was incredible! Carla was awesome and so friendly. The scallops were so plentiful on my plate with even some hidden in the design!!!! We also enjoyed the Beet Salad which was delicious 😋
Great place for those who love oysters, seafood, a good time and good atmosphere. We had dinner reservation and when asked what is the celebration, I chose anniversary (which really is our anniversary lol). Upon arrival, we were greeted “happy anniversary”. That was sweet. We ordered the following: Hush puppies - this was the only let down, so you can skip and save $5. We had complimentary hush puppies elsewhere and they were good, not like this one. Mosovite - lovely raw oyster with caviar and smoked salmon. Very good. Seafood Pasta - so-so. Nothing special. Needs moreeee seasoning. Seafood Fried Platter - awesome. It was surprisingly good for a fried food. Cucumber mule cocktail - very lovely. Service - exceptional! At the end of our dinner, we were surprised by our server with free dessert, chocolate mousse cake. Very nice that when you made reservation and tell that there is an occasion , they will really put something up. Unlike other restaurants that asked for it, then nothing. Overall, the experience was splendid that we came again the following day for lunch. We had the happy hour half price oyster and crispy calamari. Old Oyster Factory Restaurant is a must-try whenever you visit Hilton Head.
The restaurant itself was cute and the service was great. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. The green tomatoes were ok but everything with it was oddly sweet and the pasta primavera didn't have much flavor. The creme brulee was good, but the cookie for the skillet cookie sundae was just a cold cookie placed in a cold skillet and the chocolate sauce was strangely separated and weird colors. The hush puppies were ok, but they were more white bread than cornbread.
Server was great, did not catch her name but she had been working there 30 years at least and gave us tons of recommendations on activities on the island. I cannot say the same about any of the other staff. Came here as a child with my parents 20 years ago and experienced some nice upscale dining. Now it is a ghost of what it once was. When we entered the resteraunt, the hosts looked at us and pretty much went back to their conversations. I mentioned a reservation, and was very curtly escorted to our seat, in which one of your staff (grey shirt, bald, older Hispanic gentleman, lazy eye) proceeded to ‘look my girlfriend up and down’, Making both of us pretty uncomfortable. Working in a kitchen myself I know it doesn’t attract the best crowds so I try to brush it off. The ENTIRE first half of our visit, this man is staring at my girlfriend, to the point where she is so uncomfortable she asks me to switch seats. At this point I myself have seen this man staring at her about 3-4 times. We swap seats and he disappears. We get our seafood tower (honestly a terrible presentation for such a small amount of food, also had at least one bad oyster. Could at least clean the dirt off of them before you serve them to someone coming to spend money at your establishment.) which was a stark $60 for barely enough for 2 people. Again, our server was amazing the entire time, accommodating our special requests for drinks and whatnot. Upon leaving, the lazy eyed fellow AGAIN stares at my girlfriend and makes her uncomfortable. I will unfortunately never be returning here, and I will be recommending heavily against it to anyone I know. I wish I could say thank you, but it would only apply to our server, who I hope and pray doesn’t have to tip share with the rest of this god awful staff. Pictured below is this horrid arrangement of food, and a close up of the oysters.
This was good but ultimately bad due to my food. My family would probably not be as harsh as me because, they all enjoyed their food. Being my long promised birthday steak dinner it was a great disappointment to me. To start with, our waiter was attentive and friendly but, we waited over 45 minutes for our food. The hush puppies were good. Maybe a little dark on the outside but inside they were lovely and fluffy. My son had the fried calamari and being quite picky about his food seemed to have enjoy it. My wife had the scallops with risotto and the scallops were cooked perfectly. My daughter had the seafood pasta and she chowed down saying it was quite tasty. We all shared the Savannah baked oysters which were very good. I had the ribeye. My disappointment was really in that it was supposed to come with a peppercorn butter which if you look at the photo was really garlic butter. I specifically chose this instead of the tri tip because I fancied a predominantly peppercorn sauce. The quality of the meat was also a bit dubious. See the photo with the amount of fat left over. It was not really melt in the mouth prepared either and this was maybe because it stood a little longer waiting to be served. I have purchased better quality meat at my local Wallmart. Maybe the establishment should consider using Wallmart as their supplier. Lastly, it seems most of the dishes come with the same side of vegetables - lemon garlic brocolini. We all received green beans. Maybe they should change the menu to vegetables of the day. If this was a one off, the waiting staff should have at least said something to that effect. My take is that this restaurant is good with seafood and that people ahould stay away from the meat selections. Especially if you pay $40 for your steak. For those wondering why I did not say something - it was because, I did not want to let my excited family know that my birthday dinner was a bit of a disappointment.
