We consider this place as our family kitchen. We love our family gatherings here (either birthdays/anniversary or special family events. Carol our service became our regular server everytime we go and she always takes care of us. Food tastes really good and the quality is first class. Highly recommended for family events and gathering.
Had salt and pepper calamari and shrimp balls. This is a great find. Excellent portions for your money.
Food was great. So tasty and good portions too. Service was friendly and attentive. I've been going for years here and not sure why I never left a review before. Service and food has been consistently good for years.
We ordered the lobster lunch special, 2 lobsters for $32.99 when you order with 2 other dinners (7 days a week 11am to 3pm). We ordered the black pepper lobster, spicy green beans, and beef ginger and green onions. Our food was fabulous!!! The best lobster I have ever had in my life and their way of cooking the lobster which is flavorful and fresh. And it's cut into bite sized pieces. Most of it came out of the shell in one bite with no effort. The wait staff was very attentive and we never needed anything. We are returning customers whenever we visit Houston and always recommend it.
The best place in Houston Chinatown for lobster dishes. Their veggies are fresh and cooked just right, not mushy or too raw. They are fast and always crowded when we come for dinner; expect a wait on the weekend. This is not a fancy Chinese restaurant, but if you want authentic Chinese foods fast at reasonable prices, then you come to the right place. We are from out of town, but always stop here for dinner at least once each time we are in town. Never disappoint in anything we've ordered.
There are many seafood restaurants in Houston, Confucius Seafood Restaurant is one that I like the most. Their lobster and crab dishes are absolutely top-notch—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The steamed ginger scallions chicken and is also one of my favorite. The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of food you get. It’s a great spot for family gatherings or special occasions, but keep in mind that it can get quite crowded on weekends, so plan accordingly.
Fried shrimp balls were very juicy and huge! It tasted a bit like fried chicken breading in a good way, crunchy exterior and the inside was full of flavorful shrimp meat. Fried lobster and stir-fried fish dish with garlic chives were good, too. I believe they had some kind of a deal/discount when you get a lobster dish and order 2 main courses, but might want to ask the server directly. Will come back!
The place looks ok, the duck was so so, the mix seafood in clay had way too much bean curd, but the lobster with black pepper was sooo good. This was the first time I actually get full from eating a lobster dish, the quantity was really good for $36. Would come back for the lobster but won't reorder the other dishes
Came here for the 1st time on my birthday on the recs of a friend who’s been here multiple times. It’s a very unassuming hole in the wall Cantonese restaurant but when you walk in and see that majority of the clientele are Indochinese- you already know the food will be both authentic and good! We had the Sautéed lobster in XO sauce (and apparently the lobster is one of their most popular dishes with very good reason!)- it was very delicious and we saw every other table order different variations of it. The Deep fried crispy shrimp balls (huge balls that are very crispy on the outside and shrimp packed on the inside- another hit!). The Beef ribs in spicy sauce were good as soon as we had it hot, but once cooled it became a little hard and difficult to chew (and there wasn’t anything spicy or saucy about them- so it was a bit meh for me). The Salted fish and shrimp fried rice was pretty good albeit a bit bland unless you bit into the actual salted fish (nothing some chili oil couldn’t fix)! Portion size was great though I did feel the protein quantity was skimpy! All in all I my friend and I throughly enjoyed our lunch! As for the service- yeah…nope! With the exception of one person who atleast made eye contact and smiled- the others would barely stay at your table to take your order. One server asked us ‘are you ready’ and when we hesitated coz we had a question, she didn’t even wait to hear us! She made an about turn and left for the next table! I don’t think the servers are rude- I believe they are just busy. But customer service goes a long way in even small things like just being present, or a smile, or saying be right back. Anyways- food is an absolute win! Will definitely be back coz I wanna try more of their dishes and not to mention the food comes out pretty fast as well. Don’t go expecting great service- but the quality of the food outweighs service. And yeah! If you pay in cash you actually get a discount!
Just discovered a spot for seafood with bold flavors, reasonable prices, generous portions, and very fresh ingredients. The black pepper lobster, deep-fried crispy shrimp balls, crispy smelt fishes with spicy salt, and steamed jade tofu with king mushrooms were all delicious. The crab meat soup with asparagus was a bit watery and bland. The restaurant has simple but cozy decor and fast service.
Visited here from friend’s recommendation, ordered lobster w ginger & green onions, beef ribs w special sauce and fried fish w sweet sour sauce. Lobster come out and fast and it’s delish & yummy. Beef ribs comes out medium rare and bit chewy. The fried fish took much longer to serve than anticipated as I think they forgot it.
Average canto food, even though it’s one of the oldest restaurants in chinatown. Flavors were not on point for every dish we ordered. Beef noodle had no wok hei
This is that traditional homey-style Chinese seafood experience you’re looking for. Overall the dishes here are good and traditional, with decent flavors and reasonable prices. The chicken we ordered came in a large portion, but there was more bone and less meat than I was used to. My favorite dish by far is their lobster with ginger and green onion, definitely a standout on the menu! The lobster tasted fresh and flavorful, and ~$29 for 2 lobsters is a great deal. Overall the service is ok, our food came out really fast, but the servers were so busy since the restaurant was so packed that it was hard to track them down to ask for other things. I’d come back here for another solid family-style Cantonese seafood meal.
We ordered lobster fried in black pepper. It was okay. Will get a different sauce next time. $28 for small lobsters. People say it’s cheap but not much meat even when they have two lobsters. The duck as bland and cost almost $50. Fried Rice and Calamari were good. The best dish was the morning glory vegetable which was very flavorful. Portions were big.
Yesterday was my first time coming here, and unfortunately the impression was really not good. I usually tip around twenty percent when the service is good, so I am not someone who avoids tipping. But this place was clearly short staffed. I waited a long time before any server came to the table, and basic things like sauce trays were missing. Because of that, I felt that a fifteen percent tip was already more than fair for the level of service I received. When I went to pay, the staff told me I had to tip eighteen percent and pressured me to increase the tip. They even spoke loudly in front of other customers, which was embarrassing and made it seem like I was being rude, even though I had already tipped. That is not voluntary tipping. It feels dishonest and unprofessional to force customers to meet a minimum tip, especially when the service was weak to begin with. If the service is good, customers will gladly tip more. Take care of the service first, then ask for whatever tip you want. With the experience I had, I do not feel comfortable coming back.
