Opinions de KA Sushi Houston
High quality sushi and food, nice staff, great vibe and always enjoyed our time there!
KA Sushi is one of my go-to spots. The food is always on point and the bar staff is super friendly, which honestly makes a big difference. If you go for happy hour, do it right and get the sake at half-price bottles. Totally worth it. The basil roll is gold. Like, I order it every time. And the oysters are a must try. It’s just an easy place to enjoy good food without it feeling overly fancy or uptight.
Neighborhood sushi place that does not disappoint. They have a great happy hour. Been here multiple times and they’re always good. Outdoor sitting area is nice. Definitely recommend!!
Tasty sushi. One thing I'd recommend the restaurant consider (and mention to their landlord) is adding electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. It would bring in more traffic and provide your loyal guests the convenience of being able to charge while they dine. It's the future. And you already have customers who drive EVs. If you decide to explore this, I recommend contacting local Houston business, Pangea Charging to get setup with EV chargers.
This was my first time here, and I have to say—I’m very impressed. Tristan gave great recommendations on what to try. I wasn’t a fan of the fish tray (I’m not sure of the name), but that’s just because I’m not into strong fish flavors. Everything else was absolutely delicious! He also suggested my drink, which was perfect. Be sure to ask for Tristan when you visit—he’ll take great care of you. The Wagyu steak roll was my favorite!
My husband and I stopped in for a bite last Sunday. We were going to get pizza since we didn't have much time. Thank the restaurant gods we stumbled into KA Sushi, and during happy hour too! The restaurant was gorgeous and super clean! Every dish we ordered was fabulous! Our waiter suggested the roll with cilantro, garlic and tomatillo sauce.. OMG, AHHHHMAZING!!! The cucumber salad.. SO good! I can't wait to go back and try everything else.
Noe is legitimately the best bartender I’ve ever ever met in my whole life i waited for him my whole life and the sushi options he suggested i mean can i please have some respect on this guys name cause he deserves it i have been to many bars and many sushi places and never once enjoyed it this way i mean he knows things like how to be flawless and this one is just it
KA Sushi’s happy hour is outstanding! We enjoyed the beautiful weather on their charming patio, which set the perfect vibe. The oysters, both raw and broiled, were phenomenal, bursting with fresh, bold flavors. The Old Fashioned was spot on—perfectly balanced and expertly crafted. Happy hour deals are fantastic, with generous portions and great prices on cocktails and sushi. The staff was friendly and attentive, making it an ideal spot for a fun evening. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!
I have been to myriad sushi restaurants through the decades, and by far this restaurant produces the best meals I am lucky to enjoy! They don't serve 'ordinary' sushi meals; no, the flavors and creations are next-level. You'll get very tasty food, presented beautifully. The staff was as wonderful as was the food. We were immediately greeted and made to feel special. The food came quickly and our server made sure we were well attended to. The restaurant is clean and neat, an indication that the kitchen is also clean. One of the best!
We came in on a tuesday night, it was quiet. we sat outside and had Danny as our server, he was great! and the manager also stopped by to make sure we were being taken care of. I had the espresso martini- it is made with tequila which i’m not entirely sure i’m a fan of. My cousin loved her sake. 1.rockefeller oysters 9/10 would get again 2nd roll- 2/10 do not like fried rolls- not the restaurants fault at all tho. 3. wagyu slim- 7.5/10 i liked it but i needed a lil extra something 4.chimi roll - 8/10. interesting flavors, pretty good.
Stopped in for dinner with my love, we were very impressed with the service and most of all the food. fYI they have happy hour everyday till 6:30. Beer is like 3 bucks during HH, We tried a couple of rolls, chicken karagee, oysters and spicy edamame. Everything we had was delicious and made to order it cam out promptly and we were really impressed with the service. My favorite was the east coast oyster they were on point!
I went here on a Friday afternoon for a solo lunch. Immediately I knew I wanted to sit in the patio area because it had a relaxing, greenery type of set up. The outside seating, cooling fans, shade, quality service and great food made for an overall very enjoyable lunch. I ordered the Five Piece Nigiri Combo that includes the nigiri (big pieces), a Cali and Spicy Tuna Roll, salad and soup. This combo was 🙌🏾 at only $16! I told the waiter I wanted something refreshing to drink, he recommended the Aperol Spritz. This type of drink isn’t typically a go-to for me but honestly it was very good. Other than pesky flies, I really enjoyed my time at KA Sushi. I recommend the store purchase fly fans for the outside tables, that was the only consistent issue.
Wow, this placed knocked our socks off! Really great value for the price, quality sushi, intimate ambiance, and the staff were amazing! Daniel and Michael took superb care of us. A couple items to shout out: First, the “hot rock” or “lava rock” section of the menu seemed a little hidden to me at first, but it’s a cool experience where they bring a hot lava rock to the table to cook something (wagyu, scallops, or mushrooms) on. We got the wagyu belly, and it was delicious! Second, there was some type of cake slice (maybe like chocolate coffee ganache crepe cake or something?) that absolutely knocked our socks off. It’s not on the menu, and apparently they’re considering getting rid of it?! Don’t miss this one. It’s incredibly delicious and not too sweet. I don’t usually even like cakes or have desserts like this. Overall, it was an amazing experience celebrating a big milestone for my wife and I, and we’ll definitely be returning to this restaurant!
Our server, Nicole was very attentive and awesome. She gave us great food and drink recommendations. When we got to the restaurant, there was plenty of parking however it is a small parking lot and of course there’s always construction around that area. We came for lunch when they opened. They have outdoor patio and the ambience was very casual-business casual. Everything was very fresh and delicious! My favorite was the Uni toast, the toast was soft yet slightly toasty and the uni was so buttery and Salmon Tiradito, very refreshing. * entrance door is heavy, they aren’t closed, just pull a little harder*
Food: Excellent. Nothing has been disappointing at this place. And the happy hour menu is generous. Service: A+ I think everyone except for the hostesses understand how to acknowledge and keep the customer happy. Very friendly and attentive. Ambiance: A Small and not trying to be too flashy. Cleanliness: A+ I almost got offended at how quickly the staff cleaned my area after I got up. Like, let me leave before you tell me how many cooties I have. Parking: Easy and free. Toilets: Clean and I've never had to wait too long to use one. They are unisex for those that might have a problem with that. Pro Tip: Make a reservation (or know the hostess) if you're going on a Friday after work.
Edit 2/14 - 2 stars: I finally came here for dinner and it was bad. The service took forever - I had to ask 3 times for a waiter to take my order - it took 20min. The food prep took another 25min. The team was putting dirty dishes right around where I was seated at the counter, so I felt like sitting in the kitchen. The sushi quality was just ok too… Not worth the price tag. Really liked this spot. Neat and spacious inside. Very friendly staff - especially Michael at the bar! Can highly recommend to try their happy hour (everyday until 6:30pm)
False advertisement posted on Instagram. very misleading I drove all the way from manvel under the impression that happy hour is all day Monday and Tuesday - Sunday from 11:30am- 6:30pm . That is a lie. I drove an hour to get there. I arrived on a Tuesday around 1:30 pm and none of the food they posted for happy hour was even on happy hour. Turned right back around and drove another hour back home, the manager was extremely unhelpful. Even though it was their mistake. They did not take accountability or make any accommodations. I’ve been a fan of this sushi restaurant for years and have recommended it to many people, but our recent visit was very disappointing. We had a reservation, but because we didn’t specify indoor or outdoor seating, we were told we’d be seated outside by default. That would’ve been fine, except it was 90 degrees, no one else was outside, and we were basically dining with a swarm of flies. I’m talking about at least 20 fat houseflies circling our table—we had to constantly swat them away while trying to eat. The restaurant did have fans to help with the heat, but nothing to deter the flies, which really ruined the experience. It’s only May—can’t imagine how bad it’ll be in the peak of summer with a third of their seating outdoors. To their credit, the general manager was apologetic, and our server, Danny, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and professional. He was the best part of the evening. As for the food, it was great. All the sushi rolls were delicious, the seafood tower was fresh and enjoyable, and the drinks were well-crafted. Everything came out quickly. Unfortunately, we realized after leaving that we were charged for the wagyu toast, which never arrived. Overall, while the food and service (especially from Danny) were solid, the overall experience didn’t match the high price tag or reputation. I hope they reconsider their reservation policy and take steps to improve the outdoor dining experience.
