Opinions de The Boot Houston
My second visit here and the food is just too damn good! It always scratches my Cajun seafood itch just right. The first time I came I had the boiled shrimp, it was delicious! For this visit I had the blackened shrimp, fried catfish, fries, potato, and corn — all cooked and seasoned to perfection. +their atmosphere adds to the Cajun atmosphere with good music, authentic decorations, etc.
The Boot in Houston truly stands out as the go-to spot for the best crawfish and exceptional service in the area. Their crawfish are always fresh, perfectly seasoned with lots of flavor. What sets The Boot apart is not just their delicious food, but also their outstanding service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and remembers your face and just what you like. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm welcome and treated like family. Whether you're a crawfish enthusiast or trying for the first time, The Boot delivers on both taste and service, making it a must!
I brought a group of international clients here to show them great crawfish experience. Boy were they blown away. The crawfish here has the right amount of spice. I love the fact there is so much space, because this makes it easier for large group outings. And there's enough shade and seating outdoors for a great time.
Food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a nice, sunny Friday afternoon lunch. I ordered the half Shrimp Po-Boy with fries combo and loved every bite of it. Perfect amount of food! The shrimp were amazing and the fries were seasoned to perfection. This was our first time visiting and we will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend 👌🏽.
Love this place, can’t wait to return. Fantastic crawfish, good beer selection and great outdoor patio space. The only negative for me was that the potatoes and corn are charged separately from the crawfish but I guess that’s the way more and more places are doing it these days. Overall great place to spend a day hanging out enjoying good weather, good friends and excellent crawfish!
The only thing I tried on the menu was crawfish, which was seasoned very well and they were a nice size and fresh . The only thing I didn’t like was the way to order it. I felt as if being a busy place they should’ve had more than one person taking orders.
I would like to begin by acknowledging the excellent service we received during our visit. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, regularly checking in throughout our meal, which made for a very positive experience. Regarding the food, while it wasn’t the worst we’ve had, there were a few areas for improvement. Specifically, the shrimp were very difficult to peel, and the corn was extremely overcooked and soggy. The gator bites, although flavorful, were tough. On a positive note, the fried pickles and ranch dressing were very flavorful with a satisfying crunch. The potatoes, sausage, and crab were all very average. It was nice to try once but I don’t think we would go again as there are a ton of Cajun/seafood places.
Overall a decent patio spot for a beer and service is decent. The food is just average as the sausage in the crawfish was extremely dry. The shrimp platter was tasty but overpriced for portion size. Parking in the area can be limited and tricky so ride share might be a better option.
I got here before 1pm so I beat the rush lol by the time I sat down a line was forming so I knew this place was gonna be good! Nice beer selection. I love the seasoning they use on the French fries it was definitely the best part of my meal. Service was quick and my food came out hot and ready to be devoured! I got alligator bites and they were a little bit over cooked but they were still pretty tasty. The catfish was under seasoned but very well cooked. My crawfish was perfect. If you want a good seat during a hot sunny day out make sure you get here early so you can get a good spot. Also the guy in the front with the beard was sort of rude to my lady friend
This is the first time I've ever had cajun style food, this was authentic as it gets!!! My companion had the combo platter which consists of your choice of two catfish, shrimp, oyster, or crayfish combinations. She had the oyster and crayfish while I had the same thing but with catfish and shrimp. Food was pretty good, first time I've had catfish in my life. Catfish was cooked perfect that the fish fell part when touched, so tender and perfectly breaded. Shrimps were breaded just enough. Sauce was delicious. Parking is interesting, try not to block anyone in and if you - pay attention to the staff when they broacast you're blocking someone in!!! Other than that, a simple restaurant to meet for food and beers.
Went here today for the first time. I can only comment on the fried alligator, since that’s what I ordered. It’s a definitely a cheaper frozen alligator. Not the meaty well seasoned stuff we get back home in Louisiana. As a native Acadian, it’s pretty bland and cheap tasting. The drinks are good. Not Lafayette good and definitely way more expensive but decent. Bartender was great. Very nice.
The food was spicy I suggest you read the fine print after each meal. It’s pretty much take a menu pick ur food pay cashier take a number sit down bench seating. They do have bar seats n a small room inside but it’s small.. The mosquitoes are so bad there at night. Oh my goodness they ate us alive that we couldn’t really enjoy our food so we went into the area where the bar was and the bartender was totally cool. It took up for getting bit by the mosquitoes because his vibe was so Vibin.
Me and my sister went to The Boot on Mardi Gras 2019. We ordered boiled crawfish and two fries catfish plates. The crawfish were good but the catfish was not. The catfish desperately needed salt and pepper. The fish looked and tasted like it was fried in old grease. The french fries were good and the portion size was generous. The service was less than average but the beer was cold.
Great food but not enough staff. Parking is a joke too. You will get blocked in and need to call a tow truck to get out. They called over the microphone to get my truck out but the person was at another bar so they towed that vehicle blocking me.
Don’t go unless you have time and money to burn. Food took forever and arrived cold despite reminding the runner about our number. Manager was rude (offered a to-go box so we could to warm it up in our microwave) and refused to replace or refund without even checking the food.
Wanted to get seafood for lunch on Sunday and I ordered my food. Place wasn’t packed or anything. The Saints were playing the Titans. 30 mins into it, food is nowhere to be seen. Horrible service. Bartender was nice.
If I could give 0 stars i definitely would: only come here to eat crawfish that seems to be the only thing they cook good. I don’t eat crawfish so I tried the buffalo wings first while I waited on my friends the wings tasted like they came from the bottom of the freezer. And the wings took 30-40 minutes to come to the table! It was not busy. So I said this is a Cajun place let me just get the Louisiana Crawfish Étouffée and it was TERRIBLE! Went to try to exchange it and found out they have a policy where you can’t exchange or get a refund on food. So please order with caution and if you don’t eat crawfish don’t come here. I attached a picture of this goop if you care to see it.
Lackluster food, Bland, too many kids running around!! A Shame on the Louisiana name. Food is very fresh but very boring at the same time. Seasoning does not exist in this restaurant. Everything I ate was bland. The fried catfish was hot and fresh but had 0 seasoning in the cornmeal. It was just fried catfish in cornmeal. The Etouffee had no seasoning and I could taste the flour in the roux where they didn’t cook it long enough. The dirty rice was ok. It was mushy and overcooked. Even the tea was horrible. Just unsweetened. I had to go to the bar to ask for simple syrup. If you like adult spaces and like to eat in peace this is not the place. Kids were running around screaming everywhere. The table next to me had three kids with different iPads playing different things with no headphones. The place is a zoo. I would never return. Definitely not southern Louisiana style.
