Definitely a. great experience. I came here in the middle of the day for lunch, ordered the ceviche and sangria which are my staple. Everything tasted so good and fresh. Meek waited on me and was super helpful and friendly when ordering. All together love this place for a nice relaxed lunch/dinner.

Food was absolutely amazing! Sat outside on their 2nd floor patio. Had tacos (fish and carne asada) and their sinacolada... incredible! And our server, Marquis was top tier! Definitely would come back and would recommend!

From the moment we were seated, Jose Alberto made our experience at Mexican Sugar outstanding. He was friendly, attentive, and communicated everything clearly throughout the evening. His recommendations were spot on, and he made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. It's rare to come across someone so professional and genuinely welcoming. Absolutely fabulous and exceptional service by Marcus! This was my first time coming here to Mexican Sugar. My husband and I are ecstatic 🤩 for finding this gem of a restaurant. Their food is fresh and authentic, truly delicious! Their service is also impeccable. Please ask for Marcus when you come. He knows the menu very well and has great recommendations. One of my favorite spots! I was lucky to have Johnny as my server for my birthday. He was super attentive, never let my drinks run dry, and food was out quickly to expectations. Will definitely be back soon!

The food was amazing, my wife and I had the mole enchiladas and the steak fajitas. They did not disappoint. The queso was so flavorful. Definitely will be coming back. Maddie really took care of us.

Came here for a Galentine’s celebration and it was amazing. The food and the drinks were delicious! Not to mention the waiter, Nehemias, is an awesome waiter. He’s very attentive to your needs and kind. 10/10 would recommend this restaurant.

Food was delicious, and definitely in large portions. I’m a big fan of the skinny margarita. Our server Johnny was extra kind and very attentive! I love the ambiance of Mexican Sugar; you can come for a casual Happy Hour or a special event like a birthday.

I’ve been here before. But I really wanted to take my boyfriend and our group of friends. We had a great time. We got there for happy hour and we were able to enjoy the drink specials. By the time we were ready to order our entrees happy hour had ended, and we were feeling good. Someone got enchiladas, my boyfriend and I both got the chicken brasas tacos and a friend got the steak. Everything was delicious. Everything was seasoned well and the prices are really, really moderate especially being in Houston. Cannot wait to come again. I would recommend the hibiscus margarita so good.

Mexican Sugar was a wonderful experience the food was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. I ordered the Barbacoa & Crispy Cheese with a Hibiscus Margarita. It was satisfied my hunger. The Bartender that served me Aaron had wonderful customer service and was very knowledgeable! Keep being awesome Aaron !!

I came here for a friend's birthday and left celebrating Kelby. He tended to our large group's many requests and was extremely accommodating. To name off a few things: We sat outside on a cold day, and he made sure we had enough heaters to stay comfortable, he located coffee when I was originally told they didn't have any, and he was so attentive that you weren't waiting around long (if at all) to get what you needed. He definitely made the experience. As far as the food goes - the pork chop was incredible. Very juicy and filling. I'd absolutely come back for it (if I didn't live in Austin, TX)

This restaurant offers one of the best drinks I've ever had, with a consistently enjoyable taste and flavor. I'm disappointed that I didn't get a video of the Volcàn Old Fashioned, which features a smoking skull, giving it a deep, smoky flavor. The GRILLED CHICKEN & CARNE ASADA Fajitas were decent, but not exceptional, with the chicken being tender and soft, while the fajitas needed more flavor. Alberto, our waiter, was fantastic, bringing energy and excitement to the table while providing clear explanations of the menu. Overall, the experience was great, and I highly recommend it.

We had such a great experience thanks to Maddie! She was welcoming, knowledgeable about the menu, and checked on us just the right amount. Our drinks were never empty, and she made excellent recommendations. Customer service like this is hard to find, we will definitely be back!

I tried this for the first time (reservations required). There is a dress code. Upon arriving, I checked in and waited a few minutes to be seated. It was packed. After sitting down, I was well attended to, from my drinks to my food. Everything was delicious and presented very fancy. Come and give yourself a higher dinner experience.

My experience here was 100/10. I came for happy hour and loved everything. All of the happy hour margaritas taste amazing. Our server Johnny gave us great appetizers suggestions that we loved and gave us excellent service. The manager Alberto was very friendly as well. Will definitely come back soon.

Marquis is an amazing server—truly top-tier service. If you visit, make sure to request him! He guided us through the best appetizers, drinks, and entrees, and every recommendation was spot on. This was our first date night here and definitely not our last. Between the delicious food and Marquis’s incredible service, the entire experience was unforgettable.

Thicker, crunchier chips that I think of as Dallas style, based on an experience years ago at the El Fenix chain. Excellent salsa picante. Addictive. Less tomato-y, more chile in a thin liquid. Loved it. Parking. The restaurant waived the $10 parking so be sure to scan the code. Eating lightly for lunch, today was a day for sampling cups of their two soups. Took photos of other dishes. Beautiful presentation. The tortilla soup was good. But. A LOT of cumin. Would be unacceptable in Mexico though, but if cumin styled Tex-Mex is okay with you and you can handle saltier foods, you will like it, as I did. Though, I wish there was less salt. I would order it again and just deal with its saltiness. The pozole verde. Lots of chicken chunks. A meal in itself and this was just the cup portion. Mild. Authentic. Thicker totopos as they should be. Pozole did not appear to be slaked. Perhaps they are using that vacuum packed kind? Slight sour, chemical taste. Tender. Fermentation? For a purist, you’d probably want to skip the pozole. But I ended up finishing it completely. Great waitress today. Super friendly.

I’m becoming a regular here and I’m not even mad about it. What started as a quick ceviche stop turned into my go-to restaurant when I want to eat out or an amazing marg. I have many food allergies and each time they have been extremely accommodating. I also love that almost all of their juices are made from scratch - the cocktails are so clean and refreshing. When you go I recommend you sit at the upstairs bar and ask for Gio!!

We had the best time at Mexican Sugar for our holiday gift exchange! The food and drinks were incredible, but the service really made the night. Maddie was our server and she was phenomenal. She was so attentive and went out of her way to help us get organized for our secret Santa swap. Also, you have to try the margaritas—they are a must-order! Can’t wait to come back.

The drinks were delicious and strong! The hibiscus drink was my favorite. This was a super last-minute date night, but I definitely recommend making a reservation because it gets packed. I ordered the tacos and they were good, but I honestly wish I had gotten the burger—it was way better than what I ordered. The atmosphere was great, both inside and outside, which made it a really nice spot for date night. This is a cashless location and you do have to pay for parking. Overall a great spot to check out!

Our server Maddie was amazing! so so sweet and super accommodating to our party of 15! we came to celebrate our friends 23rd and she treated us so kindly, we definitely look forward to seeing her again! the restaurant itself was so so nice, seating was comfortable, lighting is so great and all in all such a great first experience:) food came out on very well timing considering there was a lot of parties around! we definitely will be back!

The churros for dessert and the Como La Flor cocktail were incredible. We split delicious chips and queso and the entrees were solid though not as memorable as the drinks and dessert. The bartender here is masterful and creative. We ate outside on a wonderful day and had an incredible time. The service was impeccable and the manager was so kind. I will have to come back to see the venue from the inside and upstairs. This space has a little of everything and is perfectly placed for a fun day at Flight Club, or the park or games outside. Lastly, it’s easy to park as there is a parking garage nearby. We can’t wait to come back to try happy hour and brunch.

We came here for mom's birthday and very happy we did. Everything from the setting to the food was excellent. Best part of our experience was the service though. We were taken care of by Jennifer - She had the best customer service we've had by far and had excellent recommendations too. She felt like an old friend tbh! The kind that can just pick up after not having seen them in a while lol. Her pic attached :) We ordered a few different options and everything was awesome, hot, and affordable. Salad and chips were so good. Drinks were strong and not watered down at all. Rec from Jennifer was a La Catrina with Milagros. Will leave you feeling great after 1 sip. We will definitely be coming back! Btw - This restaurant was beautifully decorated and had great moody lighting - perfect for dates or corporate outings. Highly recommended. See pics.

Our first time here and we had an AMAZING experience! The ambiance was really nice. Our server, Marquis, was phenomenal! He has such a great personality and he made our visit a very pleasant and enjoyable one! He'd make a great manager! He was very attentive and gave great recommendations that did not disappoint. The Salmon was an excellent choice! It was very flavorful! Everything we had had great flavor! The drinks were great as well! 10/10 would definitely recommend! We'll definitely be back!

Bri was an absolutely amazing bartender -friendly, attentive, and elevated the whole experience. She gave great recommendations and kept the energy fun while still being professional. The food was just as impressive. We had the arepas, which were full of flavor, and the mango napa chicken salad, which was fresh, well-balanced, and delicious. For dessert, we finished with churros and ice cream, and they were the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Overall, great food, great service, and Bri truly made the night memorable. Highly recommend!

Very impressed all around! It has a fun, chill vibe. My barbacoa chilaquiles dish was phenomenal! An explosion of flavors from a hint of crunch and spicy kick to cool and smooth with the avocado and sunnyside up egg, I could not get enough! My husband thoroghly enjoyed his enchiladas as well. We drank cranberry mimosas and enjoyed the fun brunch atmosphere. Our top notch server, Ocean, was super attentive and sweet too! Can't wait to go back!

You can immediately tell they truly care about their guests and their team. They checked in at the right moments, were incredibly attentive without being intrusive, and made sure every detail was handled perfectly. That kind of leadership really shows in the overall vibe of the restaurant. The staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly supported. The food and drinks were amazing, but what really stood out was the service. It’s rare to see managers who are so present, professional, and personable all at once. First impressions matter and unfortunately mine wasn’t great. When I arrived, the hostess seemed annoyed right from the start. I let her know that half of our party was already there, and she responded with a rude attitude, immediately reminding me there was a time limit even though I had just walked in. She then told me to head to the elevator and said someone would be waiting there. Since it was my first time, I asked where the elevator was, but instead of helping, she just repeated herself in an irritated tone. I ended up finding it on my own. Upstairs, I told the host I wanted to speak with a manager because the service so far had been unexpectedly poor. He listened and said he would get someone while walking us to the table. On his way out, he stopped to speak with someone I assumed was our server, and I overheard them talking and pointing at us. While the host remained calm, the woman he spoke to looked visibly annoyed. Thankfully, the manager came over shortly after. I explained what had happened and he apologized, reassuring me we would be taken care of by a different server. From that point forward, the experience improved. Our new waitress was fantastic and the food was actually good. I am glad I spoke up, but it is disappointing that the service only got better after making a complaint.

I took my partner out for Father's Day, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, reflecting good value for the quality. The drinks had a unique flavor, which added an interesting touch to the meal. Service was generally good, although we did have to wait about 15 minutes before being attended to. Despite this minor delay, I enjoyed the visit and will certainly consider returning in the future.

The Margaritas here are really unique and flavourful. I had the hibiscus margarita and I really liked the flavour. As for the food, I expected more from the lamb chops as there was only a single piece given when I expected multiple bone-in lamb chops.

Beautiful spot to enjoy your day. We sat inside due to rain but was still a great scene. Parking was confusing, would've helped to mentioned parking validation when I called ahead to make reservations. Service started out amazing and very attentive. But as the restaurant got busier it was harder to get our waitress attention. Food was good, not great. Drinks started good but didn't stay that way. Would I return? - Sure. But maybe just to mingle and enjoy the scene - not for a full sit down meal.

Beautiful restaurant with tons of space for seating big groups! I certainly suggest booking the balcony during beautiful weather. A perfect restaurant for a group setting with a diverse menu. Had plenty of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu as well. The food itself was solid but nothing particularly special (this is Houston — there are just too many good options if you’re solely looking for good food) I’d certainly visit for the ambiance, drinks, and location. Overall I would certainly visit again considering the reasonable prices and ambiance!

Came here during the week, it was pretty empty so had the whole 2nd floor pretty much to ourselves. Everything was fantastic, from the view to the drinks. I look forward to coming back again and trying out more things from the menu.

Nemo was so friendly and helpful on suggestions! We had the mushroom quesadillas, margaritas flight, angus ribeye fajitas, and the pork chop. Great portions and flavor, a bit pricey for everyday dinner but okay for date night. The vibe is great for date night. There is a parking garage a 5 minute walk from the resturant and the resturant has a discount for free 2 hour parking in the garage.

Went there to celebrate our daughter bday. Front desk was slow since they have one guy do it all. Took 20 min before we were seated. Than we got seated right next to busy kitchen so we requested different more cozy table. After that we went upstairs and got table right next to bar😁 It was packed and very loud but we end up staying. Service was super slow. After we placed order we barely see our waiter. Food was very good. We ordered tacos and couple skirt steaks both very tasty. Had to wait for silverware😁 After dinner we had to chase our waiter to pay. I guess it is busy place. Overall it was ok experience.

It’s a beautiful restaurant in a very nice area. The food is what I call Tex Mex, as both my friends with me for lunch are from Mexico and said this menu is not Mexican cuisine from their country; however, definitely a Texas/Mexican variety. Either way, our food was served nicely plated, tasted good and hot. Our servers were attentive. The girls with me both enjoyed a mixed drink with tequila and said it was delicious! We had lunch on the second floor. Very nice classy ambiance overall. There was a bar upstairs and downstairs. Garage Parking is free the first two hours.

Ambient is great as it is a beautiful place with lots of seating available with upstairs and downstairs. I came on Sunday night so we only see people seated upstairs and plenty of space. Food tasted good, but a few dishes were a bit salty. Compare to casual Mexican restaurants, the portion is smaller than what the price is, but could be the quality of the meat that added to the cost. Service is good with just a little less visitation for our table. I did not get my water refilled but my friends did once or twice. Overall this is a nice place to bring your office or business colleagues to hang out and enjoy the place once in a while.

Food was super tasty and I enjoyed everything I got. Our table also tried a lot of the appetizers. Specifically want to mention the ceviche. It was delicious but was a really small portion. I can't believe it was offered as an appetizer when it looks like it could barely feed one person. Our server also took a really long time to even take our order. As well as it took a really long time to get our food. Hoping she was new, but besides that, the atmosphere was really nice and the food was good.

Went in on the weekend because i see it often when i pass by the area. Our table was upstairs and the views were pretty nice. We had chips and salsa and my brother actually bit into a piece of plastic that was in the sauce. He was ok but we did ask the waitress if we could get a new sauce and explained why. The manager immediately came over. Very friendly and professional, he apologized and offer to comp all 3 of our appetizers. We really didn’t expect it, mistakes happen and i just wanted a new sauce but the guy was very cool . For the meal i personally got the Chilaquiles with barbacoa and fajitas. My wife got some pancakes and some shrimp tacos i believe. My food was delicious, the plate was well put together. The chips were not too soggy and the flavors were well balanced. I rarely take pictures of my food but i had to take one for this review. Would definitely recommend this place for brunch. Had to post a picture of the plastic also. Glad i gave it the benefit of the doubt. Thanks Management!

The food was overall good, but a few things fell short. The steak was a bit chewy, and we were seated directly under a vent, which made it freezing cold and caused our queso to harden quickly. On the positive side, the Machete Margarita was perfect — well balanced and refreshing — and the salsa was delicious. Service was on the slower side; we had to ask for another drink and more chips since our waitress wasn’t very proactive. My biggest complaint is how uncomfortably cold the seating area was.

If I was hungrier, definitely would have gotten the taco platter with Carne Asada, my friend got it, and said the rice with it was delicious. I did try the Yuca fries, so yummy. I got the shrimp salad with lime cilantro dressing, I love lime and cilantro. But did not like this dressing at all. The shrimp was a little too chewy and charred for my liking as well. Did not finish the salad. It was also a little too spicy fpr me, which I was not anticipating. Would like to return for something else. Parking was a little high even with the restaurant discount at $10.99 for 2 hours.

I found Mexican Sugar after seeing a post on Instagram, and the place looked beautiful, so I decided to try it for myself. I’ve now been twice once for breakfast and once for a date night at the bar. I’ll update my review with breakfast photos once I upload them, but here’s my experience so far. The ambiance is what first stands out. The space is warm, stylish, and inspired by modern Mexican design. It feels upscale without being too formal, and it works for everything from brunch to date night. On my second visit, we went specifically for drinks at the bar, and that’s where Mexican Sugar really shines. Their liquor selection is impressive especially the tequilas and mezcals. They even had Fortaleza, which is rare to find, and a range of high end tequilas priced around $150–$200+ a shot. Everything we tried was smooth and high quality. We also met the manager, who was extremely knowledgeable and helped guide us through different options. He explained the flavor profiles, the aging process, and which selections were top-tier. The bar staff was just as helpful and gave great recommendations, which made the experience even better. Parking was easy we used the garage each time. It was around $9, and we stayed for about an hour on both visits. Overall, Mexican Sugar offers a beautiful atmosphere, exceptional hospitality, and one of the best curated tequila bars I’ve experienced. I’m looking forward to going back again, especially to try more of the menu and update my breakfast review soon.

Teníamos reservación a las 9:30 mi amiga y yo para cenar y tuvimos que esperar más de 30 min para que nos dieran una mesa, era un pequeño caos de personas aglomeradas en la entrada. La comida está bien deliciosa y los tragos también .

2 hour wait….The restaurant was decent overall. The food was good, but not particularly memorable, and some dishes stood out more than others. Service was friendly, though a bit slow at times, especially during the busy period. The atmosphere was nice and comfortable, but there’s room for improvement in consistency and attention to detail. It’s an okay spot if you’re nearby, but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to return.

We came to celebrate a friend's birthday we had a party of 9 with a reservation. We ordered the verde enchiladas and mole enchiladas we were not aware that they were spicy. I think that would have been good to know for those who dont eat spicy foods. Service was moderate kind of slow and the server did not offer our party any type of desserts. I would not make the 45 min drive to go back.

Celebrated the birthday of a friend who had just moved back from Saudi Arabia. We had a nice table with a view for the group of about 11 people. It was Christmas Eve so it wasn’t too busy. After receiving such a grandiose reception from our server I was expecting an exceptional experience, but it wasn’t. For starters everyone ordered cocktails and I ordered Iced Tea. All of the cocktails arrived and yet my tea hadn’t. So this delayed the celebratory toast. Even after the server informed me that my tea was on the way, The whole time I was thinking “ how hard is it to pour a glass of tea? It finally arrived and I never received a refill, nor was I asked or checked on and at that point I was definitely not going to ask. I ordered the fried shrimp and elote tacos which were delicious but the rice and beans were cold. I didn’t want to mar my friend’s celebration by complaining so I let it be. I highly doubt that I will dine here again, but I may consider the happy hour drinks one day because I did like the menu.

The chips & salsa are really good. Food is esthetically pleasing but lacks in flavor. Overall, everyone in my party felt that their dish lacked some flavor and we all got something different. The cilantro lime rice and black beans were tasty. The asado on my salad was tender but was only about 3 oz, it's cut very thin to allow for plate coverage. The tequila dressing was ok. Salad had a lot of arugula so it took over the flavor of the dressing. The iced tea tasted more like a cold English Breakfast tea which caught me off guard. Everyone enjoyed the coffee! It is a beautiful restaurant! It seems like its a nice hangout spot if you're looking to sample some tequila and socialize for awhile. It got packed about an hour after we arrived for brunch. A few in the party got the tequila flight and unfortunately, you can't select what tequila you want. Our waiter was very sweet and attentive even though he was very busy. It look at least 10 minutes to get non-alcoholic drink refills and some condiments that were ordered came too late after we got our food. There is an elevator to get upstairs for those who need it.

Decided to host Galentine’s at this location this year and made reservations about 2–3 weeks in advance. Unfortunately, despite having a reservation, we still had to wait about 15 minutes (possibly longer) once we arrived. My fajita plate was good, and I ordered the margarita flight. I’d rate the flight a 6/10 — the hibiscus margarita was definitely the standout and the only one I truly enjoyed. The other two options just weren’t great. Service was a bit on the slower side, and drinks were taking a while to come out from the bar. It got to the point where we decided to cancel our last round and head out instead. Overall, not a terrible experience, but it could have been smoother .

Food's okay, drinks are good, service was not so great. When we came in, there weren't a lot of customers. So we were surprised it took so long to even get more than water on the table. The chips and salsa were great. Very fresh flavor. It took quite a while to get our food and then 10 mins after the food arrived our drinks finally arrived. I had the carne asada and it was dry. My partner enjoyed her fish tacos. The grandioso margarita was very good but the classico tasted like it had mescal rather than tequila. We weren't even finished eating when she brought over the check machine. Not a great experience.

Es increíble como un lugar tan hermoso puede perder tanta calidad por el servicio al cliente la comida es espectacular es mi segunda visita la primera vez fue una experiencia maravillosa pero en mi segunda visita créemelo q me pone en duda en regresar la mesera Alejandra tiene pésimos servicio al cliente y para nada es una persona atenta al cliente ni para satisfacer lo q pide uno

We went for brunch on a Sunday which only had a few people. We were seated on the patio next to a big table that had a dog with them. The dog of course kept coming over to us and trying to eat our food. Nonetheless, we continued as it was the only available table. The food lacked flavor. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't tasty. The corn was so bland that I'm surprised this place has such high ratings. Our waitress seemed preoccupied, she wasn't rude but also wasn't very friendly. She forgot about us a few times which we found odd as there weren't many people that day. In the end, the quality doesn't justify the price. It's a pretty restaurant and I'm sure many people would go there for happy hour but I'd recommend going else where if you want good food.

Van 4 veces que voy y las 3 primeras todo muy bien la última fue de mal gusto, mis bebidas se tardaron 23 minutos y aparte la llevaron mal, el mesero se desaparecía y nunca lo pude encontrar tuve que pararme al bar a decirle que me cambiaran mi bebida, el bartender buscando también al mesero hasta que el mismo fue y me dijo que cuál era y que el me la cambiaría cosa que fue así, después de otros 15 minutos me la llevaron, la comida tardó 38 minutos y quiero aclarar que el lugar no estaba lleno, y la verdad la comida ahora no estuvo buena, me había gustado ir ahora pero ahora me decepcionó

El lugar es muy lindo, y la comida está bien pero tienen un problema muy grande que aunque tengas reservación a un hora te hacer esperar como una hora más y hay mucha gente esperando en la entrada para que puedan sentarte en una mesa, me parece muy incómodo deberían solucionar ese problema!!!

Carne súper dura, el pollo súper quemado y seco, ambiente agradable pero vengo para comer calidad y bueno, no volvería a este establecimiento.
