Mico’s Hot Chicken hit the spot. The tenders were hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The bowl was packed with great taste, and my wife really enjoyed the slaw. The spicy margarita was a nice bonus, it definitely completes the meal.

We were really impressed with Micos, he said it was the best he has had, I'm still missing a few spots and will return to this review afterwards. It's okay for fast food. We called an asked if there was sugar in the spice rub, they said no. There's definitely brown sugar in the Hot & it is not hot at all, just sweet. The oil they fry in is also tastes weird. The salad was pretty good. The chicken was meh.

Been coming here for 5 years, since I was in college. As someone who loves spicy food, my first time here I fell in love. I loved the spicy, mouth watering, nose running chicken. They used to have xtra hot and I used to get it and be satisfied everytime with the spice. they have since gotten rid of it and honestly even getting the hot spice level isn’t hot anymore. the chicken is decent but the spice isn’t that same. it just taste like fried chicken with seasoning to me and the fries sometimes are okay but not crispy like it used to be. I only come back occasionally just to see if it’s just the way it was cooked that day or what not but it seems like something has changed and it is not as good as it used to be, even a couple years ago. The owners are great and i’ve always appreciated their service but the food just doesn’t hit the same and i’m sad that this place isn’t go to spot for food anymore.

I really hate to have to write this review but we have been a longtime fan of Mico’s, even back when it was just the food truck. My family and I often drive over an hour just to eat here, and we were thrilled when the new location opened. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing. We arrived around 8pm, and the dining area lights were turned off, which gave the impression that the restaurant was closed. We had to walk in and ask if it was open. When we were placing our order, the staff member at the counter was having a conversation with the cook and wasn’t even listening to us. Our sandwiches were extremely greasy and served on soggy buns, and the loaded fries we ordered came with just five fries ( we counted) something that used to be a much more generous portion. On top of that, the restrooms were in such poor condition that we ended up using the gas station next door instead. The overall vibe from the staff felt disengaged, like they’d rather be anywhere else. Everyone working in the front was on their phone even while packing orders. I truly hope Mico’s can get back to the quality and atmosphere that made us loyal customers.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but after my experiences here, I felt it was important to share some honest feedback. During my first visit, the wait time was very long. There were only two staff members working, so I understood they were short-staffed. I ordered one meal and a sandwich, but later realized I was charged for two meals. The sandwich itself was delicious, but the fries were cold and hard, which was disappointing. I decided to give the location another chance. Unfortunately, on my second visit there was only one employee working in the back. I stood at the counter for about 15 minutes and couldn’t get anyone’s attention to place an order, so I ended up leaving and going somewhere else. Because of these experiences, I won’t be returning to this location. I hope they can improve their staffing and service in the future.

We have placed large orders here a few times and everytime they never had the order ready. Today I waited almost 40 minutes for the order. They did not give me the 6 oz sauce containers they ended up giving me tiny cups. Then they only had small paper bags, and they loaded them so they started tearing when I was trying to carry them to the car. When they were at the other location the employees were quick and on top of things. The people they have now don't care. The place wasn't that clean and this isn't the 1st or 2nd time.

I went in around 7:30. My meal cost $25 and it was not worth it at all. I got a tenders basket with extra tender and a side salad. The salad came in a fruit cup sized Togo container. The fries tasted like they were in grease that sat there the whole day so did the tenders. Honestly hopdoddu has way better tenders. I used to love this place but it’s gone down since they’ve changed locations.

My husband, daughter and I came to visit Micos on a Tuesday during the week. It was our first time at their new location. We used to love Micos but today’s visit was very unpleasant. When we arrived we noticed there seemed to be some sort of influencer or vlogger making a video. There was only two other people in there who seemed to be waiting on their food. We waited for someone to take our order but it seemed as the vlogger had more importance than paying customers. The lady working seemed eager to want to be done with us and record the vlogger. We finally ordered and got our drink but they tasted very flat. My husband went to ask for something different but had to ask the girl who was busy recording the vlogger on her phone. When we asked for something different we were told the other option would taste the same so we could just choose tea or lemonade. We probably waited about 15-20 minutes for our food. In between that time, there were a few other customers that The girl working was very quick to be attentive to the people recording the video and get them everything they need immediately. However, we saw when others including ourselves would ask for things she’d take her time or do it after helping the people recording. We drive over an hour to come and eat Micos every so often but not sure if we want to return after this visit.

To Chris and Mico. Micos used to be by far the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. I am from North Carolina, and whenever I came to Texas I made sure to go out of my way to come and eat at Micos. I was excited when I learned that they had open up a new restaurant and closed down the shack they used to have, I loved to see that they were growing and becoming more successful. I truly wish they never left that shack. Online it say they close at 9:30. I walked in there at 9:05 on Friday night and they tell me they were closed. That’s no big deal, but that should have been my sign. I walk in the next day on Saturday at 2:45. There was not a table that didn’t have a dirty plate on it - they might be understaffed or someone called out - no big deal to me I am an understanding person. I put in my order, same as always. Micos chicken sandwich medium heat with no pickles, fries, and sweet tea. The sweet tea did not taste good at all. It used to be amazing. The chicken sandwich was dry, the spices/ coating was not the same, and there was a very small amount of coleslaw on the sandwich. It was an extremely disappointing experience. I don’t understand why they would change anything from the recipe that made them what they are. I have spread the name of Micos across all of my friends and family and I have personally sent over 100 people to go eat there on their trips to Houston. I will unfortunately have to tell them it is not what it used to be. I really hope Micos can return to what they used to be but as of now I will not be returning.

Unfortunately I can’t rate 0. The cashier at front was extremely rude. Her name is Ashley. She wasn’t letting anyone sit inside even at 8pm because they have to clean it - restaurant closes at 9. We asked for manager and she brought some random guy from inside and he said he is “shift manager”. His name is Rocky. We asked for mild, medium, and hot sandwiches and they were all labeled wrong (probably on purpose). We asked for extra napkins she denied that. We asked for couple of forks and she denied that. How are we supposed to eat their signature fries? Extremely disappointed. I don’t recommend anyone this place. It used to be good but not anymore…

As someone that loved Mico’s and has eaten here for years when in Houston this is a hard review to write. I was extremely disappointed to learn the buffalo tender salad was no longer available (og Mico’s fans know it). Took nearly 45 mins to get our 2 pc tender meal with only two other people waiting and the staff here just watched us from the kitchen while waiting for about 5 mins to place our order. Miss the old location since the place just isn’t the same, will have to find a new place to eat in Houston… posting an edit because while waiting the staff was saying they don’t understand why everyone is agreeing to wait 30 to 40 minutes because the food over here isn’t even that good and they were right we didn’t even finish it and went order from somewhere else… I guess when the staff agrees it’s really fallen off the wagon what a shame

I placed a DoorDash order from the Shepherd location and received an incorrect order. When I called the restaurant to explain the issue, the manager on duty hung up on me mid-conversation. I attempted to call back multiple times but received no answer. I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of professionalism and customer service was very disappointing.

When I worked down the street from the old location, on Saturdays my wife would stop there and grab me lunch and it was always on point. Including their hottest level. I didn't know they had moved to across from H-E-B until last week. Sadly they seem to have left all the good behind. Staff was extremely rude, they now only have three levels of heat, and they lost the hottest level. Food was cold and greasy and their hottest level tastes like Frank's Hot Sauce. Now I know heat since I make hot sauce with fresh grown Carolina Reapers and Ghost Peppers grown right here in Houston. This was not only a waste of time but also money. I managed to choke it all down but I won't be doing it again. I don't know why they moved, but if they don't step their game back up, they won't be too long in the new location either. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for your hot chicken fix.

I'm sad to say the chicken sandwich at the new location has lost its spark. It was super greasy, and you could tell the oil was old (as seen in the picture). The seating area was also really dirty, soda machine was not working, and the unfinished restaurant setup left me unsure if it's supposed to be a sit-down place or fast pace restaurant. Additionally, there were no trash cans and service was slow. Unfortunately , my stomach started hurting afterward. Definitely not the same quality as before.
