Opinions de Mutiny Wine Room Houston
My husband and I are always on the hunt for new experiences, and Mutiny did not disappoint. Great food options for happy hour, we were able to try several of the dishes due to the smaller portions which is our favorite thing to do. We had the thai style oysters (my personal favorite), the pomme frites with house made aoli and ketchup, the meatballs (i could drink the sauce it was so good), and the snapper dumplings (i wish these had a dollop of Sriracha). We split the ranch board for our meal, it was so much food that we took half of it home. The steak was perfectly prepared and so tender, the sausage was really tasty, and the chicken was incredibly flavorful. Loved all of the accoutrements, made for a pleasing board and tasty accessories. We ended with the buttermilk pie, a perfect finish to a delightful meal. The wine selection was uniquely curated and they even let us taste one of the wines before we bought the glass. We ended up taking that bottle home because we liked it so much, but everything was delicious. Wine and beer are $3 off during happy hour and they sell package product at retail so you don't have to pay the markup to enjoy it at home. We will definitely be back, there was so much we still want to try! Service was fantastic and they were happy to guide us with great suggestions.
Mutiny was really good and definitely an experience. It’s not just a meal it feels curated and intentional. A must-try is the wine flute! Unique, fun, and adds to the overall experience. Another standout is the wait staff. They truly understand the menu, explain dishes well, and guide you through the experience without it feeling pretentious. If you’re looking for something a little different and elevated in the Heights, this spot is worth checking out.
Visited 1/17/26 for a tasting. However my party and I got a glass of wine. The host was very informative with the process. As we saw there was an engagement party being hosted. I visited years ago and been looking for to returning. I then learned that the location will be closing. It was sad to hear this. The host, whose name escapes me, was very polite and informative as I mentioned before. Giving the closure by month's end, morale appeared very high. I hope the staff can regroup appropriately. My group was seated at he wine bar. Tasted Riesling, Moscato, N/A Sauvignon Blanc. Dallas, server, extremely knowledgeable with the wine. Made several recommendations based upon our palate. Thanks!
We just stumbled into here. Everyone was super friendly i mean eeeeveryone , the decor was beautiful with the sunlight Our server was ever knowledgeable about the wines and helped out We had planned only to have a few drinks but the smell over came us So something simple.. the Margherita Pizza was delicious great crust and the meatballs were 😋 LOVED the sauce Don't forget to order the bread and just go ahead and order more of the marinara sauce , trust me oh oh and some Virgin olive oil Till next time , there were other dishes I'd like to try but time got the best of us , if they have the basics down i can only imagine what else they can do 🤞
In Houston for the weekend and happened upon this wonderful place. Service, wine, and food were absolutely incredible! Everyone from the host to service staff to chef to owners were engaging and very knowledgeable about the wines they have to offer. Had the pleasure of returning for a second day for their paella! Phenomenal!
Our first visit but we'll definitely be back. We enjoyed a suggested wine with the charcuterie board that offered several meats and excellent cheeses. Atmosphere and service both excellent.
This place is absolutely wonderful. Everyone is so kind and service was great. The wines were amazing. The flights change monthly but the ones we tasted were perfect. 1000% recommend. The inside is beautiful very peaceful. I went on a Sunday so it was fairly empty surprisingly but it was peaceful. I didn’t have the food so I can’t rate that but this is 100% worth it. A HUGE shoutout to the bartender ! I cannot remember his name but amazing.
We had paella night for Christmas eve and it was great. The wait staff was very polite and knowledgeable. My wife and I enjoyed the experience!
Janice and team helped me host a company event at Mutiny. She was very helpful and adjusted the menu at needed leading up to the event to accommodate changes quickly. The event was excellent, the food was perfect and the wine was very well received! We'll most certainly look at Mutiny for our next event.
Great place. Staff is host friendly. The food is delicious. Defiantly recommend the quail, peppers, shrimp, and all the wine. Played good music. Have set at bar and done table for birthday dinner. Both very enjoyable.
This place was absolutely amazing. We went for our anniversary and it exceeded our high expectations. Staff was super knowledgeable on the wines and we landed on a great Bordeaux which paired perfectly with the ranch board. The snapper ceviche was so good also. Since it was our anniversary they offered us champagne which was so nice and unexpected. Cannot wait to go back here and experience the tasting room.

Wow. I was blown away by the quality, staff, and atmosphere. Elvis was top-notch along with the entire crew. From the moment we walked in the door, the staff was super welcoming and warm. Full knowledge of the menu and great recommendations. As for the food, easy 10/10. I tried my best to savor every second of it, before it was devoured. Highly recommend!!!
This is absolutely a hidden gem in Houston. It’s like a piece of Fredericksburg/ wine country in Houston. The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. They always make the great recommendations. The food is chef kiss. Their chef creates beautiful and flavorful dishes. The wine selection makes a great pairing to all the dishes, it truly compliments the flavors of the dish. Absolutely 5 stars all around. If your a foodie and have been to MAD, Tago, Toca Madera, Drake, & Belly of the beast this place surpasses these restaurants an in all aspects (service, food, atmosphere).
I would like to thank Janice (event manager) for making my Birthday party unforgettable! Thank you for the great work and amazing hospitality! My birthday was just perfect! All food was delicious and we received a lot of compliments from our friends about your chef! The bartender was very friendly and he took care of all friends! Your professionalism is 10/10 We'll come back again. Thank you all! Katrin Loshak
We had a great time! Every thing was excellent, service, food, atmosphere! Our server was attentive and explained the menu well, suggested a wine for a newby like myself who had no idea what she would like. We came for the steak flight on a Tuesday and it was Superb. So flavorful and tender and juicy. The chef came out and explained what each cut was and how it was cooked. We were also surprised by the prices, it was not as expensive as we expected it to be. Overall it was an excellent time. I have already told 3 people about Mutiny in the Heights. We will be back. We also were so excited about the food, we dug in and forgot to take photos. :)

Mutiny Wine Bar is truly a gem! Our server, Trevor, was absolutely fantastic animated, kind, and so genuinely nice. He made our girls’ night unforgettable with his energy and attention to detail. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Every bite was amazing, and the wine selection is hands down the best in Houston. If you’re looking for top-notch food, incredible wine, and service that makes you feel special, this is the place to be!
I was really impressed with this restaurant, did not feel like I was in Houston, or in the Heights. I went on a good weather day, beautiful sunshine from all the windows and the food was great! I wanted to get the seafood charcuterie board, but it was too much food, and I was with a group, and no one to split with. I got meatball appetizer and Thai oysters on the halfshell. Delicious, beautiful presentation. Will return.
This place was pretty good. Parking is tight, possibly only valet service. I walked over so I'm not sure. Best to make a reservation if you plan to visit. You walk in and the hostess will direct you to your table. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Most of the outdoor tables are low and not easy to eat from. There's minimal protection from the wind so I don't recommend sitting outside on windy days. Their outdoor lighting was minimal so it got uncomfortably dark towards the end of our meal. The server was friendly, occasionally overly friendly. The manager checked on us multiple times throughout our meal. Not sure why since typically the manager will come by only once during a meal at fancy restaurants. My friends and I opted for the vegetarian tasting menu with the wine pairings. All of the wine we had was fine. The corn soup + corn bread was tasty. The squash was alright. The mushroom and potato dish was the highlight for all of us. The dessert was also quite good. Overall, it was a good meal with good drinks at a reasonable price.

Had reservation for patio at 6pm on Friday. Didn't get entree until 8pm. Flys were everywhere. The pork dumplings were undercooked. The portion size for the device was 2 teaspoons. Steak and creme rules were good. Salad was not visually appealing.
Sun 5/12/24 5pm I Came for Mother’s Day, the restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing, the staff was polite. The food was lackluster, also the portions are very small and overpriced for the underwhelming cuisine. (I’ve eaten at some of the best restaurants in Houston and internationally) I told my mom I was going to have to stop by tacobell when we left lmao. I didn’t get the wine because alcohol makes me hungry and there was nothing there for me to eat. 😩🤣 the best thing on the menu were the caviar hushpuppies. I probably wouldn’t return.

I expected tasteful, pleasant, timely experience – this was not that. In fact, if you want any of those things then I suggest you check out other wine bars. We were guided to our “table “on the patio. It was a very tall coffee table, with a taller bench, and then two ridiculously short chairs. Whoever chose the furniture didn’t consider their patrons comfortability. Later on in the evening we observed several patrons having a difficult time bending down from the bench to pick up their plates of food and seat the plate on their lap to eat. After making a request we moved to one of the proper dining tables on the patio. All four of us ordered from the HRW menu for their $39 options. We placed an order for our full course at one time. The waiter told us “the appetizers are usually ready very quickly “ - I wish that was the case. We waited so long for our appetizers that the managers came out and apologized to us. The second manager asked what we would like in compensation for waiting about 30 minutes for appetizers with no communication, we told him “whatever you would like to bring us we are happy to receive.” Eventually they came with our appetizers, they were OK. A friend and I ordered a bottle of wine but only she and I split it. The entrées were all lackluster. I expected this to be a flavorful and curated dining experience but it just seems like they took cuts of meat, roasted them in plain butter, and put them on a plate. Two of us got the steak, one got the pasta, and another got the fish - none of us liked our food. The entrées were flavorless, but albeit they did not taste putrid. I steered away from a portion of my dish because the jus from my steak make contact with our waiters hand, and he seemed nice but I didn't want to consume that… All of us found the desserts to be unpleasant . The chocolate cake was dry but somehow accompanied with a mousse. The crème brûlée was very liquidy on the inside and the entire top was not caramelized, only the center portion. My buttermilk pie was extremely fluffy and squishy unlike a custard and more similar in feel to a hydrogenated whipped cream . The pie was paired with a sorbet which was an interesting and unpleasant flavor combination. My sorbet was partially melted by the time I got it. After finishing our desserts we had to wait roughly 20 minutes to get the check. It was at this point that we realized not only did the manager not bring anything out to compensate for us waiting so long for our appetizers, but there was not a discount on our bill either. After sending the check back and asking to speak to the manager he did give us a $12 discount on the bottle of wine, the bottle of wine that half the table didn’t even touch. He claimed that he originally had planned to send out some hush puppies until he “realized that they were out of them”. This interaction struck a nerve, because hush puppies are not even on their menu right now and he acknowledged they are serving a very condensed menu, the same condensed menu that they have been serving for the last 20 days - so how did he not know that they weren’t making any hush puppies? I’ll never know. Even if the kitchen had no hush puppies, his lack of communication felt like a signal of the overall team’s lack of intentionality to curate a dining experience worth the $260. The best items that were brought out to our table were the bottle of wine in the charcuterie board, which makes sense because Mutiny didn’t have to make those… When we gave the manager feedback, he assured us that the desserts were made fresh daily by chefs who come in earlier in the day. They should probably just stick to buying their desserts from a restaurant supply. We were told that hopefully our next dining experience could be more pleasant – I think it’s safe we are not going back to Mutiny. Their staff had such a hard time managing a condensed menu and still providing a pleasant dining experience. 3 hours of our lives and $40 a person wasted on flavorless food.
