Opinions de Henry & The Lions Hudson Yards
How does one even begin to describe absolute excellence? I was looking for a nice place to have drinks and dinner one night and found this listing, but it was close to closing time. So, I made a mental not to try one day for brunch. My son is home from college for winter break, and I wanted to have a nice brunch with a dear family friend, my son, and my partner. We decided to check out Henry & The Lions. It did not disappoint. We were greeting graciously and offered a choice of tables. We ran into a few neighbors as we made our way to the back of the dining area. We were seated by Ashley (sp?), who was delightful. They have a wonderful selection of beverages, both alcoholic and non. I had an iced matcha latte, my son had the iced strawberry match latte, my partner and my friend both had the hot Chai latte with oatmilk. All of the beverages were lovely. The brunch offerings were splendid. We had schnitzel and waffles, steak and eggs, and eggs Benedict, and a side of fries. Every single plate was perfectly seasoned and cooked and plated appealingly. And when they realized they had left a side of mased potatoes and broccoli of of one of the plates, they offered a gracious discount. James, the pizza chef also made an appearance, but we didn't get to meet the chef (I believe John?). All of the ingredients were extremely fresh, and I believe the English muffins are made in house, and they are ethereally airy and toasted to perfection. We are all excited to return. I'm truly looking forward to trying the pizza and a glass of wine. We all left feeling satisfied and properly cared for. I didn't get photos of all of the food and decor, but will do better upon my return. This is definitely going down as the best meal I've had since my cancer diagnosis. It was lovely to be able to eat and enjoy food and good company. Edited to add: The brunch here was really yummy, but if you want one of the most exquisite pizza experiences of your life, you must try one of James' masterpieces. Atop the perfectly crisped crust of the Joe Jones, displayed on a balanced blanket of zesty sauce were the most elegant florets of ricotta, just the right amount of mozzarella, and sliced meatballs. The Blakey, which I expected to be a standard, everyday, classic pie, was a cut above. When James explains the science of his sauce, the pride in his craft is apparent. What a treat. Not to be missed. And our server, Emery, (sp?) was very attentive, friendly, and kind. So grateful for this warm and inviting spot.
The food here is unexpectedly excellent. Despite an enormous and somewhat scattered menu, most dishes are thoughtfully prepared and flavorful, showing real potential from the kitchen. Loved the short ribs, the jumbo shrimp cocktail (juicy and enormous), and perfectly cooked veggies. Service feels like it’s still in a learning phase. Staff are polite and eager to help, but they can be a bit confused and inexperienced at times, which leads to slower service than you’d expect. If you’re in a hurry, be aware that pacing isn’t tight. The interior design is a highlight...the space has a relaxed, upbeat atmosphere that could easily make you feel like you’ve stepped into a California eatery or maybe a place in the southwest. It’s a distinct and pleasant vibe for this area. Bonus: there’s a very cute, very vocal in-house cat that adds a fun, laid-back touch to the experience. Overall, the combination of strong food and welcoming environment makes it worth a visit, even if there are some operational kinks.
We’ve been here 3 times now since moving to Hudson Yards and this has quickly become one of our go to breakfast cafe on weekends. While the food is good (4), the ambience and service are great (5). You can choose between an outdoor seating looking out to Chelsea or an indoor table next to bookshelves. We’ve tried the omelette, eggs benedict, and pancakes - all came out nice. Their latte servings are huge! They also serve fresh juices. Definitely coming back.
We went to this place a couple of times and there’s reasons for that. One is their good customer service and second is their food. I ordered my go-to eggs benedict and paired it with matcha and the food just came out great. They made the matcha as authentic as possible and they even asked me to taste test it, and they were very accomodating when I asked them to redo it as it was too strong to my liking. So if you happen to be around Chelsea in 23rd St, check out this place.
The atmosphere of this place on a Sunday morning is one of the best. From slow music, lighting, decoration to the level of service, friendliness of the waiter. We ordered poached eggs on avocado toast and Mediterranean omelette and both of them were quality! 😍 also the bathroom had such a comforting scent. Definitely recommend trying it out :)
Loved this place. Food was delicious and the staff is so kind. The atmosphere is so chill- perfect for work or study time. You will definitely not have an issue hearing a person across the table. You have to try their new pizza offering.
I was on my way somewhere else but this place’s vibe stopped me in my tracks . Lovely crowd & space . The sunlight poking in gave such a refreshing ambiance that I haven’t experienced here in the city for quite some time . . With the white tables , yellow flowers and shelves filled with books you feel quietly whisked away to Europe . Perfect for those with an aversion to loud music . The gentle jazz melody seeps into the background providing a calm accompaniment to your visit . Witnessed staff making patrons all feel welcome . Keep up the great work Henry & Lions . See you again soon my new friends . 💚
Absolutely loved this spot! We ordered the steak and eggs, açaí bowl, and chicken sandwich — everything was beautifully presented and tasted just as amazing. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and the whole place had such a peaceful, laid-back vibe. It’s a cute brunch spot with delicious food, great drinks, and top-notch service. Best part? We were seated right away with no wait. Will definitely be back!
I really liked this place and the food is really great! We didn’t have to wait in line, like some of the other places around. Beautiful & cozy decor. The only thing that bothered me was the lady that served us. She wasn’t paying much attention to the tables and orders in general, reason why I got my first coffee cold. The second cappuccino was perfect. However, the guy that prepared it had to call her attention to come and serve it before it was cold again. This shows how a bad server can just ruin a place, but I truly loved this place and I will likely come back! 💯 recommended for the food and atmosphere!
Hidden gem in Chelsea! Delicious food at reasonable prices, cozy, calm interior: it's a little haven. I could eat the rich, earthy and satisfying white beans with kale on crunchy sourdough toast and walnut pesto every day of my life. Soft pillows of steamed spinach and ricotta dumplings over arrabbiata sauce were a silky, spicy treat. And the citron tart with clotted cream may be the best lemon tart I've ever had. I'm going back!
We visited this restaurant for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the interior is beautifully designed. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and we loved the presentation. We tried the salmon, chicken schnitzel, and burrata toast with tomatoes—everything was perfect. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this place!
Had a great solo brunch here. English muffin with poached eggs and a ridiculously generous portion of salmon. Great atmosphere, French cafe-style chairs, open air to the sidewalk, customers and staff greeting each other by name. Counter service to-go and table service for dine-in. On busy 23rd Street, but a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Columbe coffee, my favorite.

Lovely brunch spot in Chelsea. Close to the high-line and. Chelsea piers.. Great place to stop by after a long walk on the west side. Maryland Crab cake phenomenal
The food was amazing, and the service was excellent. Must visit place in Chelsea. Ava was our server, she was super nice and checked in on us a few times!
Best skirt steak ever! I loved mood inside of the restaurant and also the foods. Iced coffee has nice flavor!
Stopped by after a visit to the art gallery, and this place was a gem! The octopus was super tender, and the whole branzino was perfectly cooked and fresh. The real surprise was the bread pudding—absolutely delicious. A perfect way to end the day!!!
Planned to meet an old friend at a bar in my former work neighborhood today and was glad I chose this place instead as it was pleasantly mellow. We caught the end of brunch, service was attentive, food was good, great place to sit and talk. Like in a cafe. Be warned however that they have trimmed the menu and there’s no more pizza.
I have been a regular at this cozy clean, pleasant atmosphere restaurant. Every meal is fresh, cooked to perfection, with great care and beautifully plated. Chef Jefrey will accommodate your needs and now there is the addition of freshly made healthy pizza with James at the helm. I highly recommend this pleasant, relaxing place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. I have experienced them all. Come on over and you will see how you will be a continual customer who is treated with the highest respect in this eclectic restaurant.
Ordered pizza to go and they were very tasty and well done. Good crust. The atmosphere for brunch and lunch is nice and bright but I do wish it was dimmer for dinner service as, to me, would be a more inviting ambiance.
Stopped in without a reservation for a Saturday brunch. We had no problems getting a table, but were lucky because shortly after it filled up. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is open and relaxed with bright welcoming lighting, books on the shelves, and a cozy but not crowded feel. We chose dishes that could be found at many other places, but the quality and freshness stood out. Eggs were properly cooked, the greens weren't wilted, the potatoes were flavorful. Portions were good size and price was reasonable (for NYC). Overall, we were really happy with our decision to take a chance here.

A cute brunch spot for a bone chilling day. I had the eggs Norwegian, which were nice, and 4 stars are appropriate. Service was slightly slow — 20 minutes between order and the food arrival despite only one other guest in the restaurant — though it was likely because it was quite early (10am) on an aforementioned bone chilling Saturday. I give 3 stars for this reason. But overall it’s still a 4 stars.
The place is very nice and the staff was very friendly. We were there for brunch on Saturday (you probably want to make a reservation because it gets crowded) We had different opinions about the food. The "Mediterranean Omelette" wasn't that good. I don't recommend it. The "Avocado Toast" some liked the hot honey some didn't. Maybe ask to be in the side. The best option was the "Crab Cake Benedict". It was a large portion and it was good.
Large brunch place with really good food! The service was quite slow, despite the restaurant being empty at 4 PM. The breakfast burrito was delicious, and the coffee was good too! Cauliflower was amazing too.

I’ve been here twice and both times had issues. First time I had the chicken schnitzel which came out raw/cold inside. Yikes! They remade it and the second batch was wooded (crunchy chicken). Service was fine but the bad food ruined the vibe for me, felt sick to my stomach after. Second time I got eggs and the whites were still runny in my breakfast burrito while my wife’s poached eggs were hard no runny yolk but chalky. On top of that the staff were arguing with each other and confused about which tables ordered what. Everyone was generally nice but did not seem experienced. I hope they find some experienced help to get things under control.
