Opinions de Patiala Indian Grill Hudson Yards
Just a warning that the restaurant is VERY SMALL. A total of 20 people can fit in the restaurant at anytime. I went with a party of 6, while the place was nearly full, and the host/ server/ owner (?) promised they would have space for us in just a few minutes and he was right! Service was excellent! Food was delicious and came out really fast. There were 2 elderly people in our group and the servers were extra kind, attentive, and accommodating. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GARLIC NAAN, Samosas, and Tikki Marsala. Everything was great. I highly recommend Patiala, you won't be disappointed.
Tucked away in the heart of Manhattan, Patiala Indian Grill delivered a fantastic dining experience. The chicken vindaloo was rich, spicy, and perfectly tender—just the right amount of heat to keep things exciting. Paired with their garlic naan, which was warm, fluffy, and loaded with flavor, it made for a memorable meal. The service was genuinely friendly, with staff who made us feel welcome without being overbearing. The cozy atmosphere added a comforting touch, making it a great spot for a relaxed lunch. Highly recommend for anyone craving bold Indian flavors in a warm, inviting setting.
What Patiala Indian Grill lacks is size they make up for in food and service. Seating for maybe 20-25 diners at a time. Menu offers a good selection of Indian dishes. The fiery spicy dishes pack a punch but not too hot to limit edibility. Did not try the biryani but other parties did and it looked beautiful. The food is very good and service fantastic.
Not a cliche indian restaurant, very mordern restaurant. We went for evening snacks and ordered- palak patta chaat, papadi chaat, tea and filter coffee. The tea was amazing and the coffee too. I personally loved the palak patta chaat due to its crispness. But the papdi chaat was also good. Must visit 👍👍
Absolutely divine. I have never had such well crafted Indian food. We came here after reading reviews online and it's all true. This food warms the soul. They were particularly busy the night we came and had to wait in the cold. To warm up up they served us a small yet hearty lentil broth. Amazing care and family feel. Quick with a water refill and absolutely delicious food. Silky smooth gravies. Would absolutely come again!
After exploring the Edge observation deck, our family of five (my parents, sibling, and her partner) visited Patiala Indian Grill at 371 W 34th Street. This cozy restaurant seats about 20 people, offering an intimate dining experience. We ordered mango lassi, onion bhajiya, butter roti, tandoori roti, garlic naan, and lacchedaar paratha. The mango lassi was refreshing, and the onion bhajiya was crispy and flavorful. All the breads were freshly baked, soft, and complemented our meal perfectly. For curries, we had the kadhai paneer and malai kofta. The kadhai paneer had a rich, well-spiced gravy with tender paneer pieces, while the malai kofta was creamy and delicately seasoned—both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food was authentic Indian cuisine with just the right level of spiciness, making it enjoyable for everyone. The staff was friendly and attentive, enhancing our dining experience. Patiala Indian Grill offers a variety of North and South Indian dishes, including many vegan and vegetarian options. It’s a great spot for anyone craving genuine Indian flavors in a comfortable setting. Highly recommend this place for its delicious food and welcoming atmosphere.
A Hidden Gem with Stellar Service! We hosted a group of seven at Patiala Indian Grill on W 37th St, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Despite being a wonderfully cozy and intimate small place, they handled our larger party with grace and efficiency. The service and care-taking were truly next level—attentive, prompt, and genuinely warm, making everyone at our table feel well-looked-after. The food was the real highlight. Every dish, from the appetizers to the main courses, was fantastic and excellent. The flavors were vibrant and authentic, clearly prepared with expertise. It's rare to find such a perfect combination of incredible food and such amazing hospitality in a bustling area like NYC. Highly, highly recommended for any size group!
Excellent Food & Amazing Hospitality! We had a wonderful dinner for a group of six at Patiala Indian Grill. This spot is a charmingly cozy small place that feels like a lovely escape. What really stood out was the amazing service and care-taking. Our server was incredibly kind and ensured our entire party's needs were met quickly and with a smile—they truly went above and beyond to make our experience smooth and memorable. And the food? Simply excellent. The menu offers a superb range of options, and everything we ordered was fantastic—fresh, perfectly spiced, and generously portioned. For anyone looking for top-notch Indian cuisine paired with some of the best hospitality in the city, look no further. This is a must-try!
Really delicious 😋 first time here and after seeing a ton of amazing options and wanting to try everything I asked Venkat (my server 👌) for their recommendation for veggie/vegan option personal fav or most popular and after having it I’d say if you can handle a little bit of heat (6/10) HIGHLY recommend the Tofu Chetinad. Super tasty and unique and not what I expected to come into order but really phenomenal! ✨💙 also the garlic naan probably some of the best I’ve had and the papadams came with 3 different delicious chutneys. Will be back next time I’m in NYC.
I would start with off with quite possibly the best but instead I’m gonna be brutally honest and say it is the best Indian food I have had and I’ve had Indian on multiple continents and even in India. Mango lassi, Butter chicken, garlic naan, and the most flavorful rice. Don’t miss out on this small, but delightful restaurant.
Amazing Tasty North Indian food! Couldn't stop eating! Especially Paapdi Chaat and Dal Makhani. They also gave us Complimentary Dal soup when we came in, and in winter cold, it was a breath of relief and warmth. The place is a little small, but the taste makes up for it by 10 times over. Good place for even Vegetarian people.
This is one of best among all the restaurants, I have visited so far in New York. Though it’s higher side on pricing. Its location is very convenient. If you are roaming around Times Square, then no worries for authentic Indian food and drinks. Better you reserve a seat in advance. If you can not, then still okay. Wait time is not more than 15 minutes.
The menu is super diverse and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the shahi sweet lassi as a drink to anyone that likes creamy drinks. Try it instead of mango lassi! The lamb korma and vindaloo were my favorite. The zeera ghee rice is also an absolute must. The serving sizes were also plentiful. I recommend eating family style. The service was phenomenal. Food came out fast and the servers were all very attentive and caring. The music was fun too! Perfect for a cool day. Deserves a larger location and more attention!
This place is very close to The Edge and Times Square, making it a great spot if you’re around the area. The restaurant is small with only 4–5 tables, so seating is limited. They had a lot of to-go orders, and the in-house service was a little slow because of that. They serve authentic Indian food, and the ambiance is cozy and nice—perfect for a date night, especially if you enjoy small spaces with corner tables and candlelight vibes. We ordered: • Samosas • Paneer Kali Mirch • Langar Wali Dal • Lemon Rice • Chilli Cheese Garlic Naan • Butter Naan Everything was absolutely delicious with unique and fresh flavors. We really loved the food! Overall, a great place to visit, but we’ll definitely choose takeout next time due to the limited seating. Highly recommended for Indian food lovers! 🇮🇳✨
The food here was amazing and authentic tasting! Everything we had was great. This size of the restaurant is very small, and service was average, but since the food was amazing I didn’t really care. There is a second branch around the corner which is more spacious than this one.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Patiala Indian Grill is hands down the best Indian restaurant in Midtown New York! Their food is consistently delicious, and their vegetarian options are absolutely outstanding. The lunch box special for just $13.99 (+tax) is such a steal—you get one roti or naan, two sabzis, one daal, and rice. It’s filling, flavorful, and such a great value. The staff here are always polite and attentive. If you visit, definitely ask for Mr. Tareeq or Mr. Srinivas—they go above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of. Even the owner is so warm and helpful, which adds to the welcoming vibe of the place. I recently ordered biryani to-go, and Mr. Tareeq not only packed extra raita but also surprised us with complimentary Gulab Jamun. That kind of thoughtfulness and love is what makes this place so special. Every visit here is full of joy, flavor, and amazing hospitality. 10/10 recommend—you’ll love it as much as I do!
Recently visited this restaurant for dinner. Tried the bhajiye (super tasty!), 'Langar wali daal' (had an amazing home-cooked taste), Garlic Naan, stuffed kulcha, and Kadhai Paneer - all were highlights 👍. Only downside was the dim lighting, made it a bit hard to see. Overall, great food experience! Highly recommend 😊.

Fabulous and a great environment . The food is delicious and the service amazing.. This eas life 2nd visit and both times were equally amazing.
Everything was delicious, including the coconut Himalayan salt mocktail. Our server Aniket was lovely and very responsive. He even had the A/C turned down for us!

Made reservations. The place started filling up and was full house by the time we were leaving! The Staffs were very friendly and efficient. Our food came to the table very quickly! Drinks were delicious! The shrimp curry was delicious but the rest of the food was alright - not worth the price tbh. We ordered some apps and it lacked salt and was bland. Told them to make it a little spicer for the mains and they delivered! The place was had very dim lights - needs some good lighting - it was honesty difficult to read thru the menu or properly see the food
Patiala Indian Grill is conveniently located on the corner of W 34th Street, in a small, cozy space that accommodates about 10 to 15 seats. Despite its modest size, it offers flavorful and well-prepared dishes that reflect authentic Indian cuisine. The restaurant also has a larger setup with a bar located at W 35th Street, providing a different dining experience. I visited with a few colleagues from work. I ordered the Hot Lentil Coconut Soup, a creamy and mildly spicy starter, along with a traditional Salted Lassi to cool the palate. For mains, I enjoyed Kurkuri Bhindi (crispy fried ladyfinger), Paneer Chilli (spicy paneer with peppers and onions), Egg Curry, Chilli Garlic Naan, Dal Tadka (spiced lentil gravy), and Zeera Rice (cumin-flavored rice). My colleagues tried Tandoori Murg (bone-in tandoori chicken), Pepper Lamb, Sweet Chilli Chicken, and Chicken Curry. All dishes were authentic, thoroughly cooked, and tailored to Indian taste preferences. You can request your preferred spice level to suit your palate. Overall, it’s a good option to consider for flavorful Indian cuisine in the area.
Definitely come by here when the weather is terrible. I popped in for lunch this past Thursday, which boasted atrocious humidity and intermittent rain storms. As a result, there were a few tables available, which I imagine is not often the case. This place is SMALL. I've been to my fair share of NYC restaurants so I always know going in that the square acreage is going to be pretty limited but this really might have the tiniest dining space I've encountered to date. One of my colleagues recommended I try the butter chicken, and it was the right call. I have Indian food fairly regularly, but it's the "safe" stuff - it's almost always Chicken Tikka Masala and/or some type of paneer. This was my first time trying (or even hearing of) butter chicken, and I think I'm officially converting to this chicken going forward. It's very similar to Tikka Masala, but not as tomato-ey and seemed creamier and overall more flavorful. The chicken was very tender and the pieces weren't insanely big where I ended up eating like a barbarian or awkwardly trying to split it up into multiple bites within the sauce. Really hit the spot. When in Rome/Delhi, you have to get some Naan. I just went with the plain variation (they offered several variations including garlic, which sounded intriguing) and primarily dipped it in the tomato/butter gravy. Can never go wrong with Naan, and I think it particularly hits on a crummy, gloomy day like this one was. The service was pretty decent. I was on a time crunch but was able to order very quickly - I'd say the food came out within 10 minutes or so, which certainly isn't bad for a legit entree. It did lag a bit toward the end, when I'd wrapped up and was looking for the check. That's another issue with the condensed space; if one or two customers need assistance, it's tough to make eye contact with anyone. In this instance, my primary server was occupied with other customers, and the other server (who assisted me as well intermittently) wasn't busy but also wasn't actively attentive/looking to assist. Not a huge deal, and overall it was still a positive. The one other issue I encountered (and interestingly, I heard this come up literally three other times while I was in there) was Patiala's decision not to allow sit-down customers to utilize the lunch menu. I'm really not understanding that one at all - people were told repeatedly that the lunch specials were only for take-out/delivery customers. I honestly can't think of a basis for this other than an in-person cash grab, but it was a little frustrating to spend $30 on a dish that was a lunch-size portion - you shouldn't be financially punished for giving a restaurant some additional business. That's something I'd definitely reconsider on their end; feels like an unforced error that's primarily just going to alienate potential customers. Bottom line though, the food was really good. I'd be concerned about the seating situation on a day with actual sunlight so I'm probably using these guys specifically for to-go situations, especially given the aforementioned lunch special kerfuffle.
Sucks that you have to make a reservation. Place isn't actually as packed as they make it seem. They close of large sections at a time to make it seem full.\n\nReservations require a non-refundable…
The food was decent, a bit spicy, but not too spicy for me. I was surprised that an entre doesn’t come with rice or nan and the appealing lunch special advertised on a sign outside is for takeout only. That was disappointing. I have never seen a takeout only lunch special. I mean, come on. Also, there is no entre vestibule so on a freezing day like today a blast of cold air came in every time the door opened, which was frequent. That made it an uncomforable dining experience. And really, not offering a lunch special to people who dine in and not having anything come with an entrée, which at $18 was not cheap just for lentils, I found it to be not a good deal. That said, one thing I did appreciate is that they have a vegan section of the menu which many restaurants do not have. So there are definitely pluses and minuses to this place.
The food was okay. The service was good. The ambience was great. Being near Times Square tye price is justified. We asked for a small birthday gesture and it cost 10 dollars. Not bad that it was a …
