Yes, this is the kind of pie I travel to NYC to get. Small pizza joint that can maybe hold 15 people, even if they're NYC'ers who don't like each other, not counting the line out the door. Staff are friendly and efficient, given the volume of food they're moving/number of people they have to deal with. There's options for slices and whole pies, so try something and see if you like it. This is not any chain-franchise pizza for sure. Very small seating spaces (with people who don't clean up after themselves), so you may be doing the NYC thing and eating outside on the corner. Overall, worth getting some slices from here and enjoying.

Great tiny place on a busy corner, they heat up your slice when you order. Tried the pepperoni and the grandma, crust on pepperoni was perfect, chewy yet crisp, amazing flavor. The grandma had lots of warm Marinara and a crisp, fluffy crust. Sat at the window with a cold diet coke and people watched from a tiny counter, was a perfect NY pizza experience!

Tried Vito's Margherita today. I've never had a slice of pizza that made me this happy. The crust is flawless, crisp on the outside but not overdone, and the perfect blend of fluffy/chewy on the inside. The sauce... oh my god. It's too much if I go on about this pie, so I'll just say that I'm very sad (but not surprised) that the only place I've experienced a slice of pizza this delicious, is in NYC. All that and the people there are wonderful too. Jeeez... highly recommended!

Absolutely delicious New York–style pizza! I tried several kinds, and they were all amazing. The whole place smells incredible from the fresh-baked food. The staff are friendly, and the small dining area gives it a cozy, neighborhood feel. Such a cute spot — definitely worth a visit!

My daughter cannot have dairy. She said their vegan pizza was the best tasting “cheese” she’s ever. We ate here 4 days in a row. Our hotel was around the corner and we were at NYCC so most days we would go to the convention center, the Vito’s taking it back to our room for a break. Every time was just as delicious and every staff member we encountered ware beyond friendly. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Iconic New York pizza. Stopped in for a late night slice and ice. 10/10 experience. It was crowded but they worked through the line efficiently. From the old school menu board to the vintage lights and decor on the walls, you can tell this has been a staple in the area for years. Margarita slice was fantastic - crisp bottom with a lovely tomato sauce, mozzerella and fresh basil. The garlic knot had potential but the dry texture did take away from it. I’d like to try it again on another day because the flavor was there. Finished off the late night bite with a classic refreshing lemon ice. It may be crowded but worth the quick wait and excellent pricing!

Very, very good pizza! Served hot and not dried out from the oven. Prompt and friendly service. Great ingredients—just yummy all around. Best sauce I’ve had in years. I highly recommend this place.

Fast and great (even when it was crowded). This is the perfect New York pizza place because the slices are big, you can fold them, there's a little bit of grease, and they're delicious as heck.

Gastronomically Obsessed

My boyfriend and I walk by Vito’s almost daily and let me tell you, it always smells incredible. That warm scent of garlic and fresh-baked bread wafts through the air, and there’s usually a crowd packed inside. The place has this super cute, old school, retro vibe that totally pulls you in. One evening the smell was just too captivating and we were starving, so we finally gave in. We stepped inside without any idea what they were known for, but we both immediately locked eyes on the grandma pepperoni slice. It looked absolutely incredible with its thick cut pepperoni. The upside down grandma slice also caught my attention, it just looked special. As we waited in line, my heart sank a little as we watched them pull every last slice of that pepperoni square right before we got to the front. They told us it would be another 20 minutes for a fresh pie, and since it was already late and we had actually ordered Thai food for dinner (this was just a “snack”), we didn’t want to wait that long. So I went with the upside down grandma slice and my boyfriend grabbed a classic pepperoni. Honestly, that upside down grandma slice blew my mind. The tomato sauce had the perfect hint of sweetness, the mozzarella was tucked underneath, and the crust had this amazing focaccia like texture. It was SO good. The classic slice was solid too, but if you’re going to Vito’s, the upside down grandma is the star of the show. We already went back again within the same week and finally got to try the grandma pepperoni slice. It was delicious, but in my opinion the upside down grandma is still number one. We haven’t tried the Italian ices yet, but they’re definitely on our list for next time. If you’re craving the pepperoni square, be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for a fresh pie. It’s popular, but trust me, it’s worth it.

This is a mandatory stop for NY-style pizza. Vito's has it done to perfection. Thin crust that holds the 3 fingered NYC fold. The crust rises. Tasty sauce and cheese.

On my second trip to NYC, headed straight here for my first meal after touchdown from London. The staff here were friendly and suggested the grandma slice. It was rich and tomatoey. My fave is still the pepperoni and I got the key lime pie cheesecake. It's a cute little shop and just a relaxed vibe.

I stopped in this 20+ year old slice shop a while back for a slice. It was a bit warm inside, and it was pretty crowded. I went with a mushroom slice, which was a bit over $5, which sounds expensive, but as the mushrooms weren't the typical bad canned ones you find in most pizza spots, I didn't mind the stipend. It took a little while, and the slice was piping hot. There was a pretty good crisp to it, and there was a good amount of cheese. The sauce was excellent, with a touch of sweetness but not too much. I guess the only complaint I could make was that it was a tad greasy, but hey, not bad at all. Would recommend it when you're in the area, and I would go back for a grandma/margherita and to try their Italian Ices next time I am in the neighborhood.

Stopped by with my mom on a Thursday evening. She ordered the mushroom slice and I got the vegan slice — I was really happy they had vegan options. The pizza was good NY style pizza. It was served scorching hot from the brick oven and hit the spot. This is a very small shop with limited counter seating. A group was hogging half the available seating area with their bags and stuff, so we did have to stand and eat.

Hit or miss quality of pizza. Sometimes it's really stale like it's reheated several times before serving. Maybe it's bad luck but most times I've come there it's not fresh.
