Wow. My new go to Italian place. I was met with friendly staff that were knowledgeable about their products. The food was next level! The pistachio ricotta cheesecake is the best desert I’ve ever had. You’re missing out if you don’t attend! After looking at reviews. “Frederick p” and his bad review is very mistaken. Can’t wait to go back!
Yummy and large portions! Gnocchi was tender and the bolognese sauce was plentiful with large chunks of beef. Our server was attentive but couldn’t recommend items as he was new, wish the restaurant helped them a little more on that and had them try/become educated on the dishes but other than that he was great and it’s not his fault.
We love Maialina! Amazing service, gorgeous mosaic tiled floor, and delicious italian that has you salivating as soon as you step in the door. Our server/bartender was Jordan & she was awesome!
Amazing pasta and red wines. Max was a great waiter with lots of local tips and good neighborhood information
Our favorite place to eat when we visit Indy. We try to eat here once a year. The rigatoni rustica is a must. The cocktails never disappoint. Don't skip the teramussou for desert. The service is always wonderful.
I had an amazing experience at Maialina! The food was top-notch—I highly recommend the Bruschetta and Chicken Parmesan. The service was just as incredible. I wish I remembered our waitress’s name (she had lots of tattoos!) because she was so friendly and attentive. Even though the restaurant was very busy, the staff kept everything running smoothly, and the food came out quickly—not just for us, but for other tables as well. We don’t make it to Fountain Square often, but Maialina has definitely earned a spot on our “favorites list”!
Love this place never been to a place with such incredible pasta that makes you feel light after eating it and the chocolate cake was bomb and samm our server was the sweetest! The shrimp gambria was so good but I’d recommend not getting it spicy Second time here.
We had this Italian restaurant on radar for way to long and finally went. Very nice setting and knew parking would be what it was in this area and no problems finding a spot. Very clean and modern setting, divided into two main areas. Was fun to learn about the site and prior establishment located here. Sorry, as talk about the food Mark. We started with Nona’s meatballs and order of the Shrimp Fondue. The meatballs tasty, moist and served with accompanying sauce spot on. The Shrimp Fondue was something I never expected and now want it again, again and again. Try it and hopefully that will make sense. Cacio E Pepe we ordered to share well served. The additional garlic added to original recipe and worked perfectly. The vodka rigatoni with option of spicy 🌶️ a great choice we made. My main course was the sausage and peepers, a meal I hold close lol and usually do not often order out for many reasons. Will say this version perfect prepared and enjoyed the take on this traditional plate. Our server was great. Highly recommend Maialina for a nice night out. We tried again this weekend and booked so think ahead if you can.
The food and the atmosphere is really good! The dessert is amazing. Of course I got the tiramisu.
Today I went to Maialina Italian Kitchen and Bar. This was my first time going here, and I can honestly say that I was impressed. For my cocktail I ordered the Chilé Refresher. I was nervous to try it because of the chile infused vodka, but it turned out to be really good. It reminds me of putting tajin on my pineapple. A hint of spice that compliments the drink, rather than overpowering it. For my appetizer, I had the parmesan garlic toast. For the entree, I had the Bolognese topped with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Both were absolutely delicious! This was actually my first time trying gnocchi pasta, and I've got to say that I think this is my favorite pasta now! The texture is so satisfying to chew! 😋 I also ordered a slice of tiramisu to go. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it tastes great like everything else. My waitress Jennifer, was very attentive and accommodating. I'd give this place a 10 out of 10! I can't wait to go back!
Pictures is shrimp fondue and my favorite the meatballs appetizer. 1/2 price bottles of wine! Must try if every in fountain square and they have space for private events.
The atmosphere in this place is definitely a VIBE. The food is magically delicious, I love me a great pasta place I’ll definitely be back. The services from the host, to the waiter went above and beyond and definitely met me & my wife expectations. 5/5 I’ll recommend if anyone looking for a good Italian place I’ll be back‼️
What a wonderful dinner! Started with the Caprese and ricotta bruschetta. The bruschetta was so so so good, I want to eat it every day. Next we went for the gnocchi bolognese and the sausage pasta - chefs kiss to both. Wow so much flavor. My husband doesn’t usually describe his food often and he could stop saying how “rich and delicious” the bolognese dish was and how much he loved gnocchi in it. We finished it up with the tiramisu, which was so light and delicate. Delicious. Plus the service was 5 stars. It was a perfect date night.
Despite being located in the heart of Fountain Square, parking was easy a few blocks away. The service was fantastic and the food was incredible. Portions were large and the prices were very reasonable - most entrees were under $20. They also had a great selection of wine to pair with the delicious food. The only confusion we had was reserving a table: Open Table said there were none available. We called instead and were able to give our names over the phone for call ahead seating, but they were unable to give us an estimated wait time. When we arrived, they still were unable to give us an estimated wait time, but luckily there was open bar (full service) seating which we were able to snag. I’d only recommend securing a reservation early if you plan to go on a weekend night.
The best Italian restaurant in Indy !! The appetizers are amazing, shrimp fondue and garlic bread !!! The pasta hands down Dessert is amazing Sure Come back Thanks for the good food
Delicious! Chicken parm was very good. Prepared perfectly. Tender, juicy and the marinara was seasoned nicely and tasted so fresh. Side of steamed asparagus - tender yet still firm enough. I was impressed by the quality and preparation of the food, but even more so of the service. Our waiter delivered each course timely, smoothly almost without notice of his presence. Empty plates were whisked away, and steaming hot fresh plates were delivered almost magically. Glasses were attentively refilled, again, without production or intrusion. The meal was a bit pricey, but for two of us- appetizer (Calamari), small salads, main courses, and tip it was around $100. Nice place for a special meal.
It’s rare for everyone in my family to all order pasta at an Italian spot, but we did at Maialina! Really enjoyed our experience here overall, will happily return.
Worth every penny. High quality food and great service.
I've been wanting to try this place since I've seen it pop up on Instagram, finally had the chance to set up a dinner for my 30th bday. Located in the old smoke house in fountain square it's been redone into a classic/trendy lounge style Italian place. Our service was awesome! I love when recommendations are made and dishes are explained. I have to say you must get the aperol spritz, it's the house cocktail and it's awesome, light and refreshing and the largest cocktail they offer. I'm not typically an appetizer person but we decided to get the bruschetta, but it was a non traditional style with hot honey and ricotta and it was amazing, im going to try and make the dish myself. For the main course I had the vongole, a delicious pasta dish with garlic tomatoes and clams. I also had a delicious white wine blend, and to top the whole night off I had a tiramisu on the house as a birthday treat. Awesome experience I can't wait to go back!
Had dinner here to celebrate a birthday! This was our first time here. The atmosphere is friendly and totally unpretentious. We ate on a Friday night and it was busy but not too loud. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Food was fantastic! We all tried bites of each other’s entrees and had a hard time deciding the best! We now have a new favorite Italian spot!
Maialina was a great spot! The Cacio e pepe was great! Here's a tip, add the spicy sausage, you'll thank me later! We also ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer, and it too was on point! We will definitely be eating here again in the future.
We went for Devour and everyone was very pleased with their meals! I enjoyed the gnocchi bolognese that was very flavorful and all of the desserts were yummy! I definitely plan to return again!
Absolutely fantastic! For a minute, I thought I was in Italy, right here in Indianapolis!l. From Jordan our bartender, to our waitress Valerie, to the amazing kitchen staff. We absolutely loved it🙂
When you come here you need to try their calamari and the fig and sausage flatbread. Absolutely delicious, wonderful service - our bartender Jordan took such amazing care of us.
Great food and service but I'll make sure not to get a seat near the server ordering and kitchen area - the back room or along the window would be better.
The best rigatoni I've ever had and the ravioli was covered in pesto, so it tasted incredible
The pasta and meatballs were superb. The staff was so friendly and accommodating esp. Emily. One of us ordered the Salmon with artichokes, a special order. The cooks were so gracious to accommodate our request with the salmon topped by a delicious helping of grilled artichokes.
Loved it! Can you say hidden gem? Diamond in the rough. Beat value in Indy!! It’s amazing quality at a great price. Truly tasty food and most entrees are under/around $20. I think this is my favorite place in Indy and I have tried many! Also, nice drink specials and wine options. Nice servers. VictorB
I had the rigatoni rustica and the sausage and fig flatbread. The rigatoni was good. The flatbread was delicious. I also had the tiramisu… amazing!!! I highly recommend.
We love this . Had girls dinner last night, did not have devour but the vongola was absolutely delicious. Service was just as good.
Had a great meal with friends. We were fortunate to sit at a table overlooking the fountain just outside. A wonderful place in the heart of Fountain Square.
Excellent food , the Ravioli is to die for. Great vibes and Staff. We always eat here when in the area and have never been disappointed.
One of our favorite Italian restaurants in the city! The garlic bread is UNREAL. You have to get that when you visit. All other dishes we have tried have been amazing. Service is always good and the ambiance is great. It is upscale without being snobby or pretentious.
Impeccable bar staff….Barbie, Stef and Jordan are angels from heaven EDIT: following my previous review I just had to make another trip to Maialina, the beating Italian heart of Indianapolis. My expectations, as always, were more than fulfilled. I’ve gone up two pants sizes for the parmesan garlic toast alone. And do I harbor regret? Malice? Shame for my gluttony? Never. Because in addition to the aforementioned impeccable bar staff, there is one more angel to be celebrated: Valerie. Maybe more than an angel, but God Herself. Thank you all for your service, and viva l'Italia!
Love this place! We always get the shrimp fondue- delicious, my husband loves the bolognese with spaghetti and I love the cacio e pepe with shrimp - the Italian chopped salad is lovely - Tristan was our server this time and she was wonderful
The five of us enjoyed the Devour menu and every selection was a full size serving and delicious.
I absolutely appreciated all the gluten free options and they tasted just as good as my boyfriends gluteness noodles. We had leftovers because portions were great sized and we ate those leftovers so fast because the food was that good! They have a fantastic menu that sticks to the Italian niche and that's why everything tasted perfect. They have mastered their food craft. Service was excellent! Jordan was so sweet, knowledgeable, bubbly and made our date night experience there THAT much better. I highly recommend trying this spot out, it's an Indianapolis staple. Ask for Jordan, she's the best waitress and manager! Make a reservation as well.
We went here for New Year's Eve. We had reservations. Got our table right away. The food was excellent. Reccomend the Bruschette with the ricotta and spicy honey. If that was all I had I would be happy. My main dish was the Rigatoni Rustica. Delicious! My favorite meal here. Jordan was our server and was wonderful. We were well cared for. Making reservations for Devour next.
Incredible experience. Every. Single. Time. Stef gave me elite, 1st-Team All-Pro service - which is the case every time I visit. This week’s special was the best dish I have ever had here (Cacio e pepe with chicken parm). I haven’t even left the restaurant yet, I am head over heels for this wonderful place in the heart of fountain square. Will be back, regularly (per usual).
Everything was really good! My sister , our friend, and I all went here tonight for the first time! We loved our drinks, appetizers , and entrees. Alexis was really awesome ! And very helpful. We will for sure be back! Chicken parm is the BEST I’ve ever had.
My friend and I came for dinner last night and had the best experience. Sat at the bar and was served by a wonderful and attentive bartender. She gave us a quick wine lesson to help us decide which glass to try. We had the arugula salad, first time deterring from their Caesar salad. Both are excellent! We had meatballs for appetizer, and scrimp scampi for dinner! No crumbs left, everything was excellent and had an amazing experience!
We were greeted when we walked in. Sat down immediately. The food came out very hot. My mocktail wasn't the best, but after a few drops of simple syrup I was able to drink it. The bread and marinara was my favorite and I'm not a fan of marinara.
Loved our dinner at Maialina in Fountain Square. We came with a big group and our server worked so hard to keep everything running smoothly. Really appreciated how attentive she was. The atmosphere is super cute with low lighting and a cozy vibe. The cheesy garlic bread was unreal. Next time I’m just ordering a couple plates of that and calling it a win. I got the shrimp scampi and the shrimp were huge and flavorful. Also tried the ricotta bruschetta for the table and it was such a good mix of sweet and savory. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
It was our first time here and it was pretty good. The server was very professional and friendly. The food was pretty good as well. The garlic bread is a must order if you come here because it was some of the best I've ever had. We also ordered spaghetti and meatballs and sausage pasta. Both were good but I wouldn't say great. Prices are about mid tier falling in $10-20 range for most of the meals.
Everything was great! I wouldn’t say it was my favorite Italian dining experience ever but it was delicious. I will go again and try something else. I ordered the ravioli and my husband has the special, which was a cream garlic sauce with penne and chicken? He said it was delicious & ate all of it! If I would’ve had more room I would’ve had dessert.. The ravioli was delicious! Salad was okay, I didn’t enjoy the large amount of thick sliced cheese in it, I just put it all to the side but there was a lot of it! Calamari wasn’t anything special I wasn’t impressed. I’ll try the bruschetta next time!
We’re always looking for a good Italian restaurant in Indianapolis, and if you are ever in the fountain square area, definitely hit up this gem. The parking is a hassle, but the food is great! We ordered the shrimp fondue, bolognese, & cacio e Pepe and we couldn’t find anything wrong with the dishes! They were so flavorful! The drinks were also very good, and they don’t mess around with the alcohol quantity!
Visiting from out of state and picked this place at random based on Italian food and the neighborhood. Great place in a really cool, up and coming Beatnik neighborhood. We got there during the after work crowd time and took a table in the bar area. You could tell it was a favorite local place with a lot of returning customers. Wait staff was very casual; friendly, tattooed and dressed very casually but EXTREMELY attentive and helpful. Our waitress, Jennifer was awesome! Just the right amount of “chit chat” and service without being intrusive.
Food was very disappointing for the price point. Shrimp primavera sauce was so watery and it seemed thoughtless the way it was put together. Pesto ravioli was an assault of pesto. Caesar salad was by far the most disappointing for $12. Just eat from a bag of romaine and you’ll get the same experience. You can and should get much better food at another Italian place downtown for the same price. Service and atmosphere is great as always but I’ll only be back for a glass of wine and calamari.
This was honestly one of the worst first impressions I’ve had at a restaurant. We got seated at 5:52 PM and waited until 6:15 without anyone acknowledging us not even to offer water. Every other table around us was getting service, and a couple that arrived after us was helped right away. It was clear we were being ignored, and it completely ruined the experience before it even started.
I had an experience that was unfortunately not up to expectations. Our server seemed overwhelmed and was not very attentive. We had to wait longer than expected to place our orders. Additionally when our food arrived, one of the dishes was incorrectly prepared. It would have been helpful if the server checked in on us making sure everything was correct, she did not. On top of that we were not impressed with our cocktails. Overall I don't see the appeal of this place.
