I’ve eaten at literal tons of restaurants downtown but The Oceanaire was one place I somehow had never even been to before! We recently dined in for the first time so here’s my first experience: We came on Christmas Day at around 5 PM and they weren’t very busy. Our waitress was SUPER friendly and attentive to our table and gave some great menu recommendations. We started with the complimentary bread/butter along with an order of the Calamari. Both were fantastic! I got the Chicken Fried Lobster as my entree. Overall, I was blown away to a point where I think this may be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The lobster was tender, the breading was super crispy and fried to perfection, the mashed potatoes I ordered with it were great too and the hot sauce on top was an amazing addition to flavor. Overall, a phenomenal first experience at The Oceanaire. If you’re in Downtown Indy and craving a true seafood spot, this is definitely the winner! I will easily come back.

Amazing experience. Food was fantastic. Service was spot on. My husband had Chilean seabass and I had the swordfish. For dessert we had the Baked Alaska. We also had the crab cakes and crab tails. The crab cakes were the best I've ever had in my life - so fresh! The sauce on the swordfish made me crave more.

We had an excellent experience for Devour! All of our meals were outstanding, and the desserts were all creative. I loved the salmon with arugula, watermelon, and balsamic. It was perfectly cooked. The lobsters were perfect as well. Service was the best you will find, and staff all worked together as a team to make the experience smooth, with designated staff filling waters and taking dishes. We really appreciated the treatment they gave us - worth returning to!

I greeted and treated like a queen from the moment I stepped into the restaurant. Stephanie the server took me upstairs and I got a bird's eye view of the 1st floor. Bread and butter was offered by a young man who constantly filled my water glass. A veggie relish was also offered and I chewed my way into it. Stephanie was very knowledgeable about the menu and I promised her I'll come back for the oyster experience. Right now, she took my cocktail order and Caesar salad. She checked up on me and made sure I was enjoying the appetizers. Then the lobster came out. It was a glorious thing to behold. I sent it back because it wasn't un shelled. I wore a nice dress and had no intention of ruining it. It was brought out unshelled and I could enjoy the sweet red meat with lemon and butter. Next, Stephanie brought me a glass of pinot griot and chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce. A three course meal that was worth the money I've spent.

We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Arturo at Oceanaire in downtown Indianapolis, and he truly made our night unforgettable. It was my boyfriend’s birthday, and Arturo went above and beyond to make it special from start to finish. His knowledge of wine pairings and the menu was incredibly impressive—he didn’t just suggest great pairings, he explained why they worked and what went into each dish, which made the entire experience feel curated and elevated. One of the highlights of our evening was the Alaskan Baked, which was both stunning and delicious—who knew it was made with whipped meringue? Arturo walked us through every detail with such enthusiasm that it added an entirely new level of appreciation to the meal. Thoughtful, professional, and genuinely passionate—Arturo is the kind of server who turns a great dinner into a memorable celebration.

👀If you Love 💖 Seafood, this is the place to GO!!! WE went for MY Daughter's 20th Birthday Dinner, WE had appetizers of 🍣 Sushi, & a Seafood Tower w: Jumbo 🦐Shrimp, 🦪Oysters, Lobster 🦞tails, & Crab. I had a cup of some GREAT Clam Chowder, 2 Petite Lobster 🦞 tails, a 6oz 🥩 Filet Mignon & for dessert some devine light creamy key lime cheese cake. Hubby had the softest Prime Beef that literally melted in your mouth (?!) w Mashed Potatoes, Baby Asparagus and AMAZING Crab 🦀 Cake. Their cocktails were greatly presentated and were made perfectly delightful! 🤩 Atmosphere was pleasantly ✨️ dimmed, w candlelit 🕯tables & different fishes 🐡🐠🐟🐋🦈 on the walls. Along w a visual oyster bar at their seated bar, where u could also eat at the bar, watch a game on their 2 large big screen tvs and have an alcoholic beverage from their GRAND collection of 🍷wines, 🥃liquors, alcohols, mixed 🍸 drinks, special 🍹cocktails or 🍻beers. Service was 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STARS and very attentive to our party of 9! Absolutely recommend!!! A must try, and you will be more than satisfied with their glorious cuisine, menu, service and atmosphere!! 🏆💯💪🏾

Probably the best lobster I have ever had! And that is saying something since we gravel the world over and I have probably had my own weight n lobster entrees. The chicken fried lobster is spectacular. Light, crispy, flavorful, moist and oh so good. Also had a fabulous halibut with fresh peaches that melts in your mouth. Elaine our server was attentive, friendly and quick. Overall fantastic meal.

Oceanaire is hands down the best seafood in Indianapolis! Everything was incredibly fresh — from the oysters to the sea bass — and perfectly prepared. The service was top-notch, attentive, and made the evening feel special. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, and outstanding hospitality. A must-visit for any seafood lover!

When we have a special occasion to celebrate, more often than not, Oceanaire is our dining destination. Located in downtown Indianapolis, this venue has plenty of seating and a fantastic menu, perfect for my wife, a pescatarian. From the hoststand, to the wait staff, to the servers, the staff makes the experience at Oceanaire even better. We can always count on food cooked to perfection every single time. Every meal starts with complementary bread and crudité. Tonight we split the lobster bisque and the Sangria with a grey goose drink as well. We absolutely love the chopped seafood salad. It is excellent and hard to pass up. We also had the sesame crusted yellowfin tuna with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and legit wasabi. A dot will do per bite. Amazing. The hash brown was the absolute best. Can’t wait for our next celebratory occasion! This is an independent, uncompensated review.

Outstanding experience! Arrived early and was seated immediately. Our server Elaine (sp?) was on top of it the whole time we were there. Food was cooked perfect, portions worth the price point, and flavor hit all the notes! We will be back soon!

After a very long day of work I treated myself to dinner at Oceanaire - fabulous!!! Brittany was excellent as a server and my meal was outstanding. Thank you for a perfect evening! The oyster with caviar accompanied by a lovely martini was incredible, followed by chefs choice of fresh halibut with charred ramps, morels and chimmichurri...over the top!!!

This is my 2nd time back to Oceanaire Seafood Room and I was even more impressed. The service is truly remarkable, Jacob was extremely attentive and made us feel special the entire way through dinner. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy. Our food was prepared to perfection and had outstanding flavor. The escargot is a must! The Baked Alaska was fun and sweet way to end the evening!

One of the perks of joining different restaurant food clubs is accruing points towards future purchases, exclusive member deals, & most of them give you something free for your birthday.. in some cases that might just be a free dessert, but Landry's Select Club gives $25 towards your birthday meal. With that being said, me & the Mrs. went to one of her favorites.. Oceanaire. When we switched our diet to pescatarian we began trying more seafood restaurants & Oceanaire is top notch. We still like exploring new places, buy when it comes to special occasions.. we always end up here. They're a little pricey, but since it was Devour week, she got her free dessert + $25.. we continued to let the good times roll. Happy Birthday Mrs. Edwards! 🖤

This is our second visit as our time went so well. Once again The Oceanaire did not let us down. The atmosphere is perfect for a high end restaurant and in my opinion the setting and lighting as one would expect. Service was impeccable and the waitress in training,Ana, was already ahead of many seasoned servers I have encountered in other restaurants. The rest of the wait staff right there as backup as well. We mixed it up this visit and went with the fried calamari mix and happy we did. Great flavor and tenderness, often overcooked or just bland which this was not. The crab cakes perfectly presented and being from the east coast, I can say very impressed. The lobster tail I added just made it that much more fun. Halibut t-bone also a wonderful decision made. All served in a perfectly paced environment, to which I do believe many diners do not understand or enjoy. To some perhaps having appetizer and salad and main course all arrive within seconds a positive, this is not one would generally expect at a fine restaurant. I think my only not great review was our Brussel Sprout selection as side. The preparation sounded interesting so we went with it. We also went with it knowing our other selections in the past superb, so no harm nor foul lol. I highly recommend The Oceanaire. A fine upscale seafood restaurant operating in the Midwest, with the ability to serve fresh and often not found combinations at this level. To those who have mentioned prices, please see above comment as without close proximity to the sea, there will certainly be extra costs to bring fresh seafood here.

My Husband and I Celebrated Our 24th Anniversary. In Indianapolis We really wanted the Dessert .Brian was our waiter he was really nice & patient. The valet parking was great Everyone was Terrific ! We Shall return The Fried Chicken Lobster and Grits was Delightful.. The Dessert was on Fire.🔥

This is our go-to place for an elegant dinner to celebrate special occasions. We get the same entrees every time - can’t go wrong with Filet Mignon and King Crab Legs w/ shareable sides of truffle whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus. Always great service and enjoy our dining experience at The Oceanaire!

The food is nothing short of exquisite and the staff are impressive in thier level of care. Their menu is updated daily so that you can be assured everything on it is fresh and available. I had the clam chowder and a seafood salad. Both were beyond fantastic! Others at the table had there crusted lobster tails. Nothing but high praise all the way around for the taste and presentation of these dishes. I also had their signature Oceanaire 2.0 cocktail. Really nice taste with a juicy tart flavor and a sweet finish. Highly recommended for an anniversary or a special date night or if you just want to treat yourself.

Absolutely the freshest seafood that I have had in a long time!!! Chilean Seabass on Ramen is outstanding. Seafood tower for four was very affordable and well finished. Scallops grilled to perfection!!!!

I had the pleasure of dining at Oceanaire recently, and I must say, the experience was outstanding! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the staff, and our server, Anthony, went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic meal. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor truly elevated our dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food - it was divine! The crab cakes were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the sea bass practically melted in my mouth. And don't even get me started on the crab legs - they were a true seafood lover's dream come true! To top it all off, the drinks were expertly crafted and complemented our meal beautifully. Overall, I can't recommend Oceanaire enough for its excellent service, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere. A big thank you to Anthony and the entire team for making our evening unforgettable!

I went to the Oceanaire Seafood Room with a friend and it was fantastic! Our food was fresh and perfectly prepared. The service and atmosphere were excellent too. I spent a great deal of time on the East Coast and the seafood was really fresh at this restaurant - on par with anything in New England. Many thanks to the staff and we will be back soon!

We've been dining here, for many special occasions, for twenty years. Our son chose to celebrate his birthday here. We enjoyed oysters to start, and for entrees the surf & turf, Chilean sea bass ramen, and the Mediterranean branzino. All were well prepared and distinctive in flavor. For dessert the key lime pie and sticky toffee pudding were shared. Service, as always, was wonderful. The restrooms were very clean as was the restaurant. While the menu has changed over the years the dedication to a nice experience has not. With many restaurants to choose from downtown it's nice to still have the Oceanaire.

If you want a nice restaurant, this is it! You can expect to pay $70-120 per person, but the service is unmatched, the atmosphere is highly luxurious, and the food is among the best. Not for a first date or anything casual unless you’ve got money to blow, but this is THE place for any special occasion!

We did a private party. Appetizers were amazing, very cool drinks, food was great as well. Food came out in great time. We did have empty glasses but not bad, and felt rushed out at the end. We are planning on doing another party there.

We loved our experience at The Oceanaire! We had the Wild Hawaiian Pumpkin Sword Fish...it was so soft and juicy...just melted in the mouth. We also had the Black Cod...excellent! Loved both choices. We finished with the Rasberry Swirl cheesecake. It was top notch as well. Would highly recommend.

I can't even begin to tell you how much my fiancé and I loved this restaurant! From the service, to the food, to the drinks, it was amazinggggg! We got pot stickers, raw oysters, Rockefeller oysters, caviar and the surf and turf which was filet and a lobster tail. The filet is the best filet I have ever had!! Everything we had was a 10/10 and we are big foodies and travel all over the Indy area to try new foods. This is now our favorite restaurant. Our server was Maya and she was great!

I treated my wife to a nice dinner Monday night. We made reservations, when we arrived our host was waiting for us and mentioned our reservation by name.Fabulous. The atmosphere was great the food was wonderful and the nicest manager stoped by to ask how our night was going. Randy, was his name, shout outs to him and thank you for making our visit special.

My husband took me there for our anniversary and it was perfect and amazing!!!!! Our waiter Jay was so patient and kind, and knowledgeable about the food. We were able to just take our time being there and we were never rushed to eat or order. It was so nice to just sit and actually enjoy the food we were eating!! And everything was absolutely delicious!! We will be going back for sure!! The staff even gave us a card they had all signed for our “Happy Anniversary “….. it was very memorable. I highly recommend if you enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and wonderful food and people!

WOW! Oceanaire is a must. I was impressed from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing. It was dimly lit and quiet (it did get louder around 8p as it got busier, but not enough to be a bad thing). Our server was absolutely fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and so fun! Our cocktails did not disappoint. And... the food!!!!! SOOO GOOD! I had the filet mignon and it was cooked to absolute perfection! My husband had the halibut and raw oysters and was beyond pleased. The desserts... simply amazing. I have nothing bad to say, we LOVED our experience and we will be back.

Really wonderful restaurant! Service was great. The atmosphere feels very luxurious. Every table gets a fresh veggie tray and bread. Both were great! Its nice have two free appetizers included. The lobster was cooked perfectly! The steak was excellent. The salmon wasn’t the best I had but it was fine. The fries were good. Green beans were okay. I think for the price of the appetizers, it was a bit disappointing. Overall the great rating is from the service. Everyone is helping each other.

The food was good. We had a seafood tower and a couple of side dishes, including the excellent calamari. But the service was pretty "meh." It was my wife's birthday and they presented her with a birthday card. Unfortunately, her name is not "Jim." They have a very large wine list but did not have the wine we ordered. The server had already put our food order in, so by the time our food arrived, our server was still trying to cut the foil off the top of the wine we eventually ordered. It was not a bad experience overall, but the whole thing was kind of amateurish for a restaurant of this price/caliber. (They did give us free baked Alaska for my wife's birthday and it was very fun.). ***ADDED AFTER THEIR RESPONSE: If you read the restaurant's response, you'll see what I mean about amateurish. There is no chance the manager actually read my review. ***

Great customer service! The food was ok...some was good,some not as much. Octopus tacos..the octopus was too chewy and slimy. Maine scallops with risotto...the scallops were great,the risotto was too salty. Got some wine and some sediment in it. Our waiter was very nice so he took the wine glass off the bill. It is a bit too expensive for the food quality. The service is amazing though. The presentation of the desert was fun but except the chocolate ice cream, was not that much about it.

Great ambience mocktails were spot on. Sushi was good, entrees were 4 out of 5 stars. We'll have to come back to try another entree. I had the swordfish which was slightly overcooked and a little dry.

The hostess was good, our waiting staff I believe did a great job, very informative. We got drinks that were great. We had oysters which were also great. When we looked at the rest of the menu, nothing jumped out to say “eat me”. It all seemed very basic and similar menu to other restaurants. My wife is GF and she asked for suggestions and they offered clam chowder, which we know has a thickener. We asked again if it was GF and they said yes. So she got it, and it was not. She had issues so we had to leave.

I was looking forward to trying this place out and became a little disappointed with our service after we asked for the devour menu. Unfortunately a lot of restaurants in the city now put this stigma with people that order off the devour menu and I'm getting a little tired of it. If you don't want to be put on the devour menu than don't be put on it, but don't start to treat the customers like we aren't going to be spending the same type of money as others since their ordering off the regular menu. Our bill was still over $200 after tip, that's over $100 bucks each and I felt like we didn't get the service we desereved. Regardless of how I was disappointed in our service the food itself was actually pretty good for the most part. After about 45 mins of sitting and waiting after we had ordered everything we wanted ti order food started coming out. First our oysters which to me shouldn't have taken 45 mins to get to our table. Next came all of our starters which came about 30 mins after the oysters. And lastly about 30 mins after our starters came our entrees. And then we got our dessert and checks at the same time and then our waiter like got a pickup in his step. I was told that the oysters were very good and very fat. My Caesar Salad was really good but there was a lot of parmesan on top including shaved and shredded. My husband's calamari was probably one of the best I've had in the city. He ordered the Mahi Mahi and I ordered the 6oz deserved. Both were good and had excellent flavors however I think they had been sitting waiting to be delivered to our table as they weren't exactly hot when we received them. With that being said the flavors were excellent, and I loved the crust on top of my steak. The Mahi has very good flavors. My husband and I both got the key lime which was very tasty and a good compliment to the end of dinner. Overall I gave a three star strictly because our service was subpar to begin with, however we did get a new waiter towards the end of our meal as we were told thr other guy had to take care of a very large party that had just walked in. And also because our food wasn't hot. I would love to try this place again but not if are going to get the same quality and service we received.

Honestly….I was disappointed in Oceanside. Our server simply disappeared for lengthy periods of time. The chicken fried lobster was good….but not excellent. We had several dishes in our party of 4, but we all agreed…the food was decent, but not exceptional as we expected. Service was well below average.

It was certainly a memorable night, but for all the wrong reasons. People who were nearby our table will be talking about what they witnessed. Our server was awful from the start. She was awkward and unprofessional from the start and we couldn't figure out why. We ordered a seafood tower and I ended up wearing it. All down my back, ice, lobster, oyster juice, the whole shebang... And the heavy metal bowl slammed into my shoulder as the tower crashed on me. I wasn't injured, but it was very jarring. The server and the manager were very apologetic and moved us to a new table while they cleaned the mess and my instinct told me to request a new server and I didn't. I sure wish I had! The service didn't get any better... I'm sure she was humiliated, so I didn't want to make a scene or a fuss. But it was as bad as bad gets. I ordered an expensive bottle of wine that I had been looking forward to for weeks and she messed that up, too. She gave us small glasses, when I know they have big glasses to best enjoy a bold Cab Sauv in. She broke the cork, didn't decant the wine in front of me and never once poured us a second glass. My steak was cold, which was fitting since so was I. Then she had the audacity to say to me that she was upset that the incident where she "got a little bit of ice on me" had happened in front of her GM. It was a bit more than a little ice and I have the wet/smelly blouse to prove it. The restaurant paid for the seafood tower, which was the least they could do, but literally the least. I think my meal should have been comped or I should have been given a gift card for a future visit. I certainly didn't expect my whole $800 bill to be picked up, but a little more would have gone a long way to make up for me sitting wet and cold all night, even my pashmina was soaked, which was what I had brought to keep me warm in the chilly restaurant. We have had amazing experiences there and that is why there's a chance I would return. On a previous visit, our side order of corn was late and the server comped it AND gave us a free dessert, which we thought was going over and above. This was definitely going under and below. The server we had last time, José, recognized us and came over and said hello and asked about our kids. If we ever return, he will be the reason why! THAT is an excellent server.

Made a reservation for my birthday days in advance and it was not busy at all but they sat us right by the hostess stand (picture #2) where I was awkwardly starred at all of dinner. We ordered the 2 ib lobster and tuna. Tuna was grey, which I know can be ok (I asked Google while sitting at the table) they comped it bc my husband could not eat it. The lobster was very good (2ibs probably not.) They showed me the cooked lobster 10 minutes before they brought it out and you can see the meat on the lobster was chopped up and just weird. Disappointed that I chose to have dinner here on my birthday and this is the review I have to leave. I've been here in the past and it was WAY better. I appreciate the manager comping the tuna but I would have rather had an excellent meal than taking it off the bill. Just overall this is a hard NO never again. I see why it wasn't busy on a Saturday night.

Pretentious atmosphere, there for happy hour and it seemed like I was a bother to them meanwhile it was EMPTY at 4:15pm. Rock salt in oyster thought I broke my tooth. Recommend Yard House. Better Happy Hour and better experience.

We arrived before a Christmas event. We went in early. The waiter wasn't even clocked in and on shift when we arrived. Our food order was placed early because we were on a time line. The waiter assured us we had time. It then took an hour and our food was still not prepared. The waiter said 20 minutes before we left that the food was coming right out. It never made it to the table. The restaurant was not busy. Not even 20% capacity. Our appetizer was out in about 10 minutes, then 45 minutes later still no food. When we asked to just get the check for the food we actually got, they tried to charge for food that never made it to the table. The manager was surprised that we were upset but didn't know we didn't get any of our main entrees. Overall, it was a miserable experience for a restaurant that's trying to charge us premium pricing.

I have been waiting to go to this restaurant for years! I am so disappointed. Some of the food taste like they wasted the salt shaker.🤢🧂🧂🧂 The Vegetables have no seasoning at all, not a pinch of anything!!!!!!!🚫 There’s so much salt on this food (omg). I need to check my blood pressure..😳🩺🩸💉 Our server was great. No complaints there.

0/10 – Extremely Unprofessional Experience I’ve been a long time customer of Oceanaire and have booked large company dinners here for years in Indianapolis. Our company has spent tens of thousands of dollars at this location over time, and I personally handle scheduling and reservations. I even dined here the night before this incident with another colleague. Tonight’s experience was unacceptable. My colleagues waitress, “Heather” (shorter blonde woman), behaved in a manner that was highly unprofessional and inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. She openly told the table she was high on muscle relaxers, then proceeded to argue with me regarding the rewards program. I had already told her three separate times that I spoke with the front desk that I could add this table to my rewards account, as I manage bookings for our company. Despite this, Heather insisted I was wrong, contradicted what management had already told me, and charged my coworker an additional $25 for another rewards card unnecessarily. Instead of resolving the issue calmly, she became argumentative and dismissive. As someone responsible for choosing venues for company events, I was shocked by how poorly this situation was handled. Because of this experience, I will no longer schedule company events with Oceanaire. If this is the level of professionalism being allowed on the floor, I will gladly take our business elsewhere. This was deeply disappointing, and management needs to address it immediately as I will be canceling my rewards program. 0/10. Horrible service. Do better.

Family in town so we booked a party of 12. Sat us at the front entrance and like another poster mentioned, it was awkward. Felt like we were being looked at the whole time by the hostess and other staff. Our waitress was extremely unorganized and became very distraught once she realized we were not all on the same bill. She told us "they should have told you that you should all be on the same bill". Well they didnt so lets move on but that became the theme of the entire dining experience. She was arguing endlessly with who I assumed was the manager 10' away from our table and pointing towards our table. She passed our table multiple times without asking if we needed anything. We had to flag her down to get most anything. Service was horrendous! For the price the food was just okay. Ive had better for far less $$. Wont be back.
