Yesterday was my first time eating at Burger Island. It was the location in Irving. I honestly don't remember the last time I had burger and fries that tasted that damn good! I loved the atmosphere too... kind of a throw back to the 80's type of feel. Great service. Great prices. Piping hot, fresh food.

Delicious burger, pretty fast service, and generous servings. This is a divey burger place that is always worth the trip.The burger is massive and they give you a ton of fries. My in-laws live in Houston and love this place so much they almost demand we make a special trip to this specific location. I recommend anyone looking for a local burger joint that has a ton of options without breaking the bank or taking itself too seriously.

All the food is excellent. I've had the Burgers, Dogs, and Sandwiches and they are good.

This place is in an older building. The food was good, I had the grilled chicken sandwich. The fries were good too, ate them all. I've eaten at the Garland location more, since I live closer to it. We were in the area and wanted a quick bite.

Judged solely by appearances, this place is nothing special. However! The burgers are always fantastic! Big burgers, generous helpings of fries, and free drink refills. In an era of rapidly decreasing fast food quality (along with the undeservedly increasing prices!) Burger Island really stands out. It is, at this point, the only place I'm actually excited to order a burger from in the city of Irving, anymore.

Staff is nice and worked quickly to prepare our food. Ordering is easy enough. The restaurant is definitely dated but clean. I had a hamburger which was tasty and fries were crispy.

Love this place and always friendly. Great burgers always made fresh and chicken strips are just as awesome. Be sure to have a big appetite because they have big burgers. French fries full of seasoning but not over bearing, just favorable. The fries seem to be fresh cut. Irving location recently had some upgrade modifications done in dining area with fresh paint and mild remodeling. Stop by and give this place a try.

This is a great burger with many options for the "dressings" & veg. The counter/order staff member was gracious; a young man brought our cheeseburgers to the table once the chef/cook had finished preparing them. I love mushrooms so I had the Swiss & mushroom burger. Loads of mushrooms, good Swiss cheese and tender hamburger. I was really stuffed as the cheeseburger is not small. We shared an order of fries which appeared to be fresh cut; the.fries were also great. With high quality meat, buns and add-ons coupled with the amiable, capable staff providing good service there is only one conclusion: Highly recommended. We will return gladly. Cheers!

Someone told me about this place a while back, and I've finally decided to try it a few days ago. Burgers are my favorite food to eat. I always go to a good places where they make very good Burgers, and this place is one of them. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and it was best one I had so far. The burger was cooked the way I like it. It was very juicy and a good size burger. And I enjoyed the fries alot. I have no idea how the McDonald's right next to it is still in business. But yeah I enjoyed it and I'm definitely coming back.

Been in Irving for 15.5 yrs now and this was the first time for me to eat here. I have heard good things about it before. Finally went and absolutely loved it! I got their Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. Burgers are fresh ground beef (not frozen) and the burger is thick and juicy! The fries are well seasoned and the give you a good portion of them. I wasn't able to finish all my food. Prices are reasonable. I will be back! Highly recommend this place!

This is our go to hamburger place! It’s the best hamburger in town!!! The hamburgers are big juicy, full of flavor and you can order a large fry that both of you can share and you still have leftovers. I don’t think we’ve eaten the whole hamburger. We’ve always had to take it home. They are huge they are made by hand, so sometimes the beef goes over the hamburger bun! Yummy!

I went here because I heard they had sweet potato fries. When I got there I was a little iffy the way it looked from the outside and I was like nahh I’m gonna leave but I was hungry so I went in. This is the best burger I've had in a long time. Real, fresh hamburger, made to order. I had the mushroom burger with onion rings, which were great. I grabbed a menu for my family and I'll definitely be back. The only thing I'd suggest is to toast the bun to give it more flavor.

I was really craving a good gourmet burger, something several levels above fast food. Burger Island came through in flying colors! I had the jalapeno burger, my daughter got the classic cheeseburger, and we shared an order of fries. Absolutely fantastic! The hamburger patties were hand formed and delicious, the buns so fresh and soft. I scarfed mine down pretty quickly. My daughter (who is pretty small) ate 3/4 of hers and finished it later, which is unheard of for her and a real testament to the quality of the food. The atmosphere is alright, nothing fancy- they were actually playing old reruns from the 70s (Love Boat lol). Can't wait to go back for another burger!

This is the kind of "hole in the wall" place I enjoy finding. Great food, friendly services, and aesthetics that say, "if you want to eat here, I guess you REALLY don't want to go home for some reason and that's alright for a *little* while." I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it was delicious! The steak was tender, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the flavors came together really well. Definitely worth trying if you’re a fan of cheesesteaks!

The service here was so amazing the gentleman at the counter was very patient with me since it was my first time there and buying food for me and my wife who was in the hospital . I went and picked up the chilli cheese burger with fries. The fries were fresh cut, hot and nice and crispy. Could have used a tiny bit more seasoning but still great. The burger was well cooked the chilli nice and flavorful and homemade and they out plenty of it. Definitely will be coming back next time I'm in Irving.

No frills just good burgers!! I forget how big they are and the last time I forgot to order the junior size Burger which is very filling. You also get a large amount of french fries. You can get sweet potato fries or regular fries or onion rings. The serving is always more than enough. My favorite is the mushroom Swiss burger.

A traditional burger joint that still serves delicious burgers without all the glitz and glam. The jungle burger is a wild one to eat but you'll enjoy it with every bite. It's loaded with everything! The onion rings are very well breaded and crisp to perfection. I highly recommend this spot!

I always forget just how good this place is until I come back! Visited Burger Island recently for the first time in 4 years and it did not disappoint one bit. We ordered the chipotle burger with sweet potato fries, the mushroom burger, the island burger, and the jr. cheeseburger off the kids menu (all combos). We spent about $55. The patties are fresh off the grill and the burgers are BIG and fully loaded. They’re definitely not stingy with their ingredients! The customer service is nothing to brag about - and is, honestly, non existential - and the place isn’t immaculately clean. BUT we come here for the food, so. No real complaints here.

I had seen Burger Island a few times while driving by and today I decided to finally stop in to give them a try. I ordered and after a short wait I got my Bacon Cheeseburger Combo. This was a fantastic burger. I don't know how the McDonald's next door stays in business. Patty was well seasoned. Toppings were fresh. Bun was soft. Good bread to meat ratio. Fries were decent. Skin on. The seasoning was excellent. The larger fries were just a bit less crunchy than I like but the smaller ones were perfect. They weren't soggy just a little floppy. Felt like good value for my money. I will definitely be back.

Kinda dirty old building. So fits in the mom n pop category... Passed it a million times and wondered how they were still open so read the reviews and decided to try a burger at least. Mushroom swiss burger... Quite possibly better than any I've tried and... At least all the ones I know of!!! Better than but in the same style as five guys and the likes... So many mushrooms, thick diner tasting patty... The fries look delicious though I didn't try them and I'll definitely be bringing my teenage sons back for dinner complete with fries. Perhaps I'll have to overlook the kinda dingy dining area and come back and give a full 5 stars.

The burgers were large like Whataburger size. The fries and drinks are sold separately from the burgers. The burger had good flavor like a homemade taste to them. The service was good and quick the fries were seasoned well crispy and plentiful. The burgers were messy and quickly thrown together so I had to put my burger back on the bun but other than that I would recommend this place for a quick decent bite.

This place has been around for a number of years.. The food here is always consistently good.. The burgers are large And fixed just the way you want them. Over the past couple of years they have added a number of exotic hamburgers, not many of which I have tried.. I generally just stick with a good old cheeseburger. Although their fries are very good, I tend to go with the onion rings which I like better. I recommend this establishment, the service is always 1st class 1st class and generally the crowd moves very quickly.

Decided to stop by this hole-in-the-wall burger joint before heading to airport. Price is slightly higher than expected but the mushroom burger is super juicy and seasoned fries delicious.

Good burger for the price and the atmosphere is decent. It isn't dirty and there are TVs on either side of the wall in case you go alone and want something to watch. The service can be better, but they took the order and it was correct when I received it which is all I really need.

One of the best burger spots in Irving along with Griffs. The french fries are a miss though. I like the fact they're real potatoes but they aren't crispy enough and are way too soft. But besides that it's one of my favorite spots

Classic burger spot that’s been around for very long time. Came in during lunch time, the line is almost to the door. Even with having one cashier the line moved fast. Ordered the Jalapeño Burger and the Philly. Both came out quick and were very hot. I had to wait to eat the fries they were so hot. My only suggestion would be to take some of the bread out of the Philly. It was very delicious but the bread was a little over powering. Prices have gone up as it’s about $12 with a meal + tax + tip.

I ordered the Deluxe Burger, a fat & juicy 1lb burger of amazing goodness. With a side order of perfectly seasoned fries. A solid place to eat some very delicious home style burgers. The customer service was solid and the location and atmosphere was good. Overall experience for a first time visit is going to be a solid 4-star rating. Burgers were ok. They advertise 1/2 lb. burgers, that must be raw weight because the burger patties didn't look like 1/2 lb. The fries were well seasoned but greasy. If give service 3 out of 5 stars as well. I was a little disappointed because I've heard good things about this place. May I just didn't order the right thing.🤷🏻‍♀️

I live very close to here, so I've been here handful of times. They make 1/2lb burgers which are a great deal for the money. Their buns are toasted and don't get soggy but remain soft. Their Big Island is tasty, the Cheeseburger is a great value at 6.75 or so. Now, I usually don't get fries, but the last time the fries were possibly the worst I've had. Soggy, underseasoned, cold potatoes. They should probably throw out the fries more quickly. Their sandwiches also leave something to be desired. I believe I've had their Club and Philly Cheesesteak. Both were just a bit disappointing. All in all, decent little spot. If you're hungry for a burger, it's definitely worth checking out, but be sure to order a burger.

Not bad, not great it’s ehh. Staff is very nice though. Maybe the guacamole made the bread of my burger very soggy. I think next time I will try something more plain because it tasted better when I ate the burger by itself.

I had the Philly cheese steak and it was alright. I have been trying to find a good Philly place for years. My old spot closed down and nothing has lived up to classic Philly's from there. I am from the north east so my standards are quite high. If you never had an Philly from the north you might like this one. It's affordable but needs just an ounce or two of more meat for my liking.

I got the guacamole burger meal for almost 15 dollars. It was a large burger, but not very remarkable as it tasted pretty bland and needed more seasoning. Take-out fry portion seems significantly less than the dine-in. Meal was not hot despite it being lunch hour. Might come back to see if the wings are any better.

Our first reaction upon driving up to Burger Island was... we couldn't wait to try what they had. The restaurant looked clean on the outside. There was a great amount of parking. Upon walking in, the was a few nice people leaving. People were inside watching the game and eating. Others were waiting on the takeout. Upon getting closer to the counter to look at the menu, the cashier asked us what we wanted to order. She didn't greet us or anything. We just told her we weren't sure what we wanted yet. She knew we were still looking at the menu. She asked again what we wanted to order. It seemed like she was rushing us. We just ordered and one of the members in our group wasn't ready so they decided to order separate from the rest of us. Not a good thing! We were irritated by being rushed to order when this was our first time here. The tables were semi clean. We wiped out table since the was still crumbs on the table. Other tables looked the same. What I tried was the bacon cheeseburger, Philly, onion rings, and French fries. The guy that brought our food out was really nice. I'm not sure if he was the cook. He made up for the cashier. He looked proud and smiled of the food he brought out. The food was really good. The bacon cheeseburger, I felt like it was missing something so I put mayo on it. The Philly was good as well. They do not slack on loading their sandwiches with the ingredients. It makes it really good. The fries and onion rings was good. I'm sure we will try this place a again but not sure if it will be anytime soon.

So customer service needs help. There was a woman at the front counter who seemed very flippant and nonchalant about talking to customers and taking orders. Later a gentleman replaced her and he's the reason I added a star. He was Very friendly and customer service like. Food was okay. My turkey burger was good not excellent. My wife's bacon burger was just okay. You could see and feel the Seasoning on the Fries, however on tasting them, the Fries were very bland. Flavorless and Soggy. I'd say you could give this place a try but not recommended.

I really had my hopes up for this place. Growing up this place used to be good. I may give it another try but I don’t know. I ordered to-go a Cheeseburger meal, a Bacon Cheeseburger meal, and Mozzarella sticks. The bacon was dry, and tasted stale or old. Like it had been sitting out room temp all day. Had the bite force like jerky. The burger patties were dry, the only thing holding it was the cheese, which should've been 2 slices per patty for how dry it was. Didn’t taste seasoning on the patty. The mozzarella sticks seemed like fish fry batter. It was okay, probably the best thing from my order. Should have came with marinara sauce but ranch was okay. Overall I was disappointed. I may give another try but with how poor the food was I don’t know if I want to waste my money.

Well, honestly the service was terrible. My sister and her husband and kids decided to invite me to eat here. Won’t talk about the food since that is over shadow over the pathetic service. But the service is disgusting. The hispanic pregnant woman not sure if is the manager or just another employee that is super unprofessional, should not really be there. We’re eating and she came over and said she was closing. It was our first time here. Normally people GET IT ….that they’re closing, after they lock doors or something. People picking up food turned around and were in shocked when she kept rudely rushing people to leave, not just us but others too. Businesses normally close the restaurant and allow people who are already dining in to finish the food THEY PAID FOR! We were close to being done, but she was pretty much kicking us out. The guy cleaning saw how upset we were. Businesses fail due to lack of good service, this is a prime example. Don’t go here, I don’t recommend it unless you want bad Service.

This place is not what it use to be...back in the day it was amazing! The burgers have no seasoning no taste. The fries are never cooked long enough even if you ask for well done twice! Service is not friendly it’s like your bugging them by making a order and supporting their business who does that???? Side note tell the person on the grill when you smash the life out of the burgers on the grill while cooking it literally is taking all the juice and flavor out! Seen them do it to all of the burgers what a shame!

The food is delicious, but the service today was very poor. We ordered online through Clover, and when we arrived to pick up our food, the cashier showed us our receipt and informed us to not order a combo with respect to a Jr. cheeseburger because, in her words, “We are wasting $5.” She noted the Jr. cheeseburger already comes with fries and a drink, but the Clover description does not state that information. She offered us an additional drink, but did not offer to reimburse us for what she deemed to be an unnecessary expense on our end. The descriptions of the meals on the Clover website should be updated to accurately reflect the menu. Disappointed with this interaction as we have been frequenting this location for years. Please be careful when ordering through Clover.

Ate there 8/27/2025, burger was fully covered in bbq sauce, like overkill and the whole meal made me sick and my friend also, steer clear!

This was a GrubHub order so the service and atmosphere doesn't apply. I ordered a cheeseburger and a Philly. The food arrived warm enough but it didn't matter. The cheeseburger was large but tasteless and unremarkable. I even added salt to try to get it to taste like something. The Philly was a complete joke. It's half the size of Philly Cheesesteaks you can get from most sandwich shops - in fact it appears to be served on a large hot dog bun - and it's mostly mushrooms with very little meat. For $11. Like the burger, it had very little flavor of any kind. You get the feel of gooey cheese in your mouth but no flavor of meat, mushrooms or cheese. I don't even know how that is possible. Gross. First and last time for me.

Will not be eating back here again! I order my daughter chicken strips only for them to have MOLD! She had already ate most of them, very upset they serve expired food.
