Llegamos de noche y buscábamos un sitio céntrico para cenar.Es una pena que la gente se quede solo con lo exterior. Este sitio tiene un jardín interno muy bonito en el que a pesar de estar en plena calle central, cenamos súper a gusto. La comida está buena y acorde con el precio que se oferta. En nuestro caso probamos los tacos de camarón y de langosta con dos cervezas artesanales de la zona.

Wir verbrachten unseren letzten Abend auf der Insel im Innenhof des Retsaurants. Das Ambiente mit den umgebenden Pflanzen bei Nacht war wirkich toll. Alle Gerichte (Pork Rib Tacos, dreierlei Tuna Tostada, Lobster Tacos) waren super lecker und zu empfehlen. Herausgestochen hat für uns der gegrillte Tunfisch. Die Margharitas waren lecker und sehr schön angerichtet. Der Service war gut und aufmerksam. Wir konnten beim hinein- und hinausgehen in die Küche schauen, die Zutaten sehen und sehen wie die Tortillas selbst hergestellt werden. Insgesamt sind wir sehr zufrieden und können das Lokal weiterempfehlen.

Ambiente attento e curato! Servizio molto gentile ed efficiente. Cibo tipico e fatto bene!finalmente una nota dolce in un isola che non mi ha fatto impazzire. Un grande grazie allo chef che ha dedicato 5 minuti a mia figlia facendole cucinare i tacos. Cheviche ottimo! Pesce fresco!

We stopped for a drink while wandering around during an evening on our trip to Isla Mujeres. This place is a pretty cute restaurant and the food looked amazing. Unfortunately, we already had eaten, we will have to try and come back another time. We all ordered an espresso martini and were glad we did. They were delicious and really served them in a unique way. They lit a piece of cinnamon and placed it on each glass. It really added to the experience with the wonderful aromatic and made it feel like a special occasion since it was around Christmas.

Cuando llegue a Isla Mujeres hable con un taxista sobre si una taqueria de la zona era buena y cuales eran los que mas le gustaron, de que gustos. Su respuesta fue que cualquiera porque le ponia mucho picante como buen mexicano y que rl picante era lo le daba el sabor. Aqui vas a encontrar tacos con tanto sabor que no h Hace falta que le agregues nada, ni sal, los de pescado y piña, los de pulpo son una exquisitez, la maza esta hecha con choclo azul y todo tienen una forma y una idea que hace una cena (en mi caso) resulte especial. El ambiente, la decoracion, presentacion, y la fabulosa atencion te hace querer volver a repetir.

Muy buen lugar, comida súper rica y a precio razonable. Lo único que quizás observaría es que nos pusieron 4 en una mesa que entran dos cómodos y cuando llegó la comida estábamos incómodos, el resto genial y es para volver.

Somos de Madrid y súper aficionados a la comida mexicana. No hemos probado nunca unos tacos TAN buenos, lo más recomendable del viaje hasta ahora, además del servicio.

Tuve una excelente experiencia en este restaurante. Las tostadas de atún estaban deliciosas, preparadas con ingredientes frescos y un sabor muy bien equilibrado. El flan fue, sin duda, lo que más me sorprendió: una textura perfecta y un dulzor delicado. La atención fue excelente, y los dueños, además de atentos, son personas muy amables. Lo recomiendo ampliamente para quienes deseen disfrutar del auténtico sabor del Caribe en un ambiente cálido y acogedor.

They had a fantastic deal going on for 3 tacos and 2 beers for 320 pesos. Got the pescado al pastor and the empanadas, and the food was phenomenal, best tacos we’ve had on the island. They make their own blue corn tortillas in house, their salsa is delicious, and the staff are very friendly. We wish we had tried this spot sooner.

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had — not just in Mexico, but anywhere in the world. From start to finish, this meal was perfection. Let’s start with the ceviche. It was nothing short of spectacular. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the acidity of the citrus dressing was beautifully balanced. The red onions, radishes, and herbs added such a bright, clean crunch, and the avocado was sliced and presented like art. Each bite was light, refreshing, and bursting with flavor. Honestly, this was a life-changing ceviche — I’ll be dreaming about it long after this trip. The fish tacos were equally unforgettable. Rather than being fried like most places, the fish was perfectly grilled — moist on the inside, lightly crisped on the outside, and full of natural flavor. The spicy sauce paired with it had just the right amount of heat without overpowering the fish. And the tortilla? Lightly toasted, warm, and slightly chewy — absolutely perfect. I’ve had countless fish tacos over the years, but this was on a whole different level. Then came the grilled octopus (pulpo zarandeado). I’ve never had octopus cooked this perfectly. It was tender and juicy, not rubbery or overcooked at all — it almost melted in the mouth. The seasoning was bold yet balanced, and the greens it was served on added a wonderful freshness to every bite. The drinks? Incredible. We ordered a Mezcalita, Piña Colada, and a Margarita, and all three were cold, refreshing, and perfectly crafted. The alcohol level was just right — you could taste the spirits, but nothing was too strong. The presentation was also beautiful, garnished with herbs, citrus, and even chili salt on the rim — every glass looked like it belonged in a cocktail magazine. On top of that, the service was warm, attentive, and kind. The decor was charming, with tropical touches and open-air seating that made the whole experience even more relaxing and beautiful. This place isn’t just a meal — it’s a memory. I would seriously return to Isla Mujeres just to eat here again. El Mexicano is a hidden gem that absolutely deserves all the praise. If you love food, this is a must-visit. Truly one of the most unforgettable meals of my life.

Came on our first night and during our last afternoon and truly after having eaten at several of the more popular restaurant along this strip…this was the best. The freshest food the tastiest cuisine and the service was exceptional. We are world travelers and when we stumble upon food that is worth mentioning we do not hesitate in sharing the experience with others. Definitely stop by and enjoy. They were very kind to tailor some of the meals for my preferences. They are closed Mondays so plan accordingly.

Muy rica comida pero pedimos un vaso de agua y nos dijeron que únicamente servían botellas. Más tarde, llegó un americano y pidió un vaso de agua pero a él sí se lo sirvieron. Intentamos volver a pedir un vaso de agua y, después de dudarlo, finalmente nos lo trajo.

El servicio del lugar fue excelente, desde que llegamos el chico que nos atendió fue muy amable y atento en todo momento. Se agradece cuando el trato al cliente es así de cálido. Sin embargo, la hamburguesa que pedí no cumplió con mis expectativas. Estaba recomendada en el menú y había leído buenos comentarios, por lo que decidí probarla, pero la verdad es que me decepcionó. Lo más extraño fue que venía con un bagel de arándanos como pan, algo que no se menciona en el menú, y que cambia completamente la combinación de sabores. Personalmente no disfruté la mezcla dulce del pan con el resto de los ingredientes, y creo que es algo importante a tomar en cuenta, ya que no todos disfrutan de esos contrastes. En resumen, regresaría por el buen servicio, pero no repetiría esta hamburguesa en particular

Unfortunately the restaurant didn't live up to the expectations after reading the great reviews. The decoration and dish presentations were all lovely, the service was good but the taste was not there. We found all dishes to be bland. The fish tacos only included a very thin piece of fish. On top of this the prices were quite high so you would expect the quality and maybe the quantity to match the high price but they didn't.

La atención no fue tan buena y la comida malisima, la salsa y el aguachile que pedí estaba hechado a perder incluso nos hizo daño a mi familia y a mi. No regresamos.

Jamás regresaría a ese restaurante, mala higiene, comida en mal estado y precios elevados, no cumplió mis expectativas de acuerdo a sus "buenos comentarios".

El servicio es bueno. Por otro lado, la comida es bastante decepcionante. Pedí un plato con birria, el cual no tiene ningún sabor ni textura característico de la birria. La cochinita pibil, fue la peor que probé en todo mi viaje. Todo estaba salado y las tortillas eran viejas. Fue bastante desafortunado ya que fue nuestra cena especial de Navidad, con precios súper inflados.

Based on prior reviews, we decided to try this restaurant. We ordered the butterflied fish. We asked for some spicy salsa and were brought store bought bottles. That was the first clue to bail! Our fish was bland. The presentation was nice but absolutely no flavor. The dish indicated it came with rice and beans yet we received fries. The restaurant looked very inviting, and after seeing its high rating on Google, we decided to give it a try. We ordered the nachos, but when they arrived, the cheese was cold, as if they had been prepared in advance. The shrimp also seemed undercooked and needed more time to cook properly. Unfortunately, things got worse with the fish—a tiny snapper of about 200 grams (and that's with the head; without it, it was even less!). It was the most expensive fish I’ve ever had, 420 pesos for a ridiculously small portion. On top of that, the taste was disappointing, and the red sauce did nothing to enhance the flavor—it actually made it worse. The quality-to-price ratio was absurd. The side dishes, especially the rice and beans, seemed old and were inedible. The lemonade was good, though.
