food is ok but the service provided by two Bangladeshi lady is top class . they are super friendly. we came from philly wanted to eat some bengali food.with this top notch customer service they made our day. will definitely come back

Every time I am coming to NYC, I and my wife always love to eat our breakfast here. Their light bread (rumali type ruti) with simple potato fry (alu vaji) and lentils (dal) is excellent. Although, before, I eat some other items, like Kacchi biriyani on weekends, which was just ok. The breakfast milk tea is excellent. Also, the sisters working there are very nice and friendly. The only thing I would like the management to take care of more is their restroom needs to be cleaner.

The chicken biriyani and the mughlai is worth dying for! Mouth watering. And the customer service is one of the best if not the best. People are nice and friendly. Food price is very reasonable and they have a lot of good items to offer. Worth the visit every single time!

Love love the moghlai paratha, it was so fresh and yammy I really enjoyed it. Every food here is tasty.

Update: we catered with them and everyone said the food was great. Not bad - I mean it’s as good as a Bengali restaurant can be here in NYC. Food is 3/5. As typically order takeout breakfast - their paratha is pretty good. Meat could go either way. Counter lady is nice but needs some organization cuz everyone tryin all order at the same time (typical Bengali).

What a nice place. While it may be a restaurant, the food tastes homemade. I looked at the beef and had to have it, but I’ll be back for the chicken in no time.

We had porota with vegetable for our breakfast. It was super good. It felt great to taste some deshi style breakfast. The porota reminded me of home. I tried the samosa which was good too. Their tea is one of the best I have had so far in the USA. nice behavior. Must go if you are in Queens, NY.

Order 10 seekh kebobs, anchari chicken keboob (6 pieces), chicken biryani, chicken curry with paratha and chicken samosa. Everything was good! The chicken curry was a bit oily, the biryani was the right amount of spicy for indian taste, the seekh kebob was moist and not dry, but the best was the anchari kebob... spicy! The entire order was $65. Parking is terrible in that area but well worth the trip. I will be going back.

This is my top Bengali restaurant so far. Unlike others, they have signs that tell when food was made and when it expires, so no spoiled or stale food. Staff is welcoming, and the restaurant is spacious and clean. I had goat curry, chicken samosa, and tea. Curry had a layer of oil, but I guess this is how they do it.

The best place for genuine south Asian foods. Your stomach will love you. Everything is here, from tandoori chicken , samosas, to sweets. They have a place for private parties in the basement. Trust me, you have to come here...!!!!

Only tried their tehari, but it was one of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere could have been more pleasant, but for a Bangladeshi restaurant in NY, it was as good as it can get.

Can't put it down to 3 stars 'cause it's definitely better. The tastes are on point by and large but quality of proteins are not up to par. Will continue this review after next visit.

Food is definitely one of the best around its neighborhood (of Hillside/Jamaica). Particularly the Tahari, Kacchi Biryani and Chicken Roast. But service however (just like most Desi Restaurants) is underwhelming, and could be improved. The stars (including an extra one) are for the food only!

The food looks good, is served well. The Ambience is nice with the tables centre lit. You are about to say this is good when the bill comes. Everything is not that much expensive .The cover charge is not printed on the menu unlike other restaurants so that when the bill comes it can be added as wanted. I have been ordering and eating here for 8 years. The food is good. Years ago the food was not too spicy and I enjoyed it. If you order from there then get the guys to fulfill your orders. If you get the women to take your order she will purposely look for bones to give you. I am taking one star off because if the women there gives you more bones then meat (I am talking about chicken curry). It's been very slow during the rush hours.

The place is clean and maintained, but the garbage bags dumped outside the restaurant on a Sunday night were not very pleasing to see whilie getting in to the place and taking food. Diners shouldn’t naturally like to see pile of garbage bags in front of a place where they are to dine. This should be taken care of. Overall, food quality is good. Tea was nice.

Ghoroa is definitely my go to place of all time in Brooklyn. But one suggestion - please try to exclude the coriander from the recipe that you use to make your tehari/biriyani. In authentic Bangladeshi Biriyani/tehari there is no use of Coriander. It absolutely ruins the originality of the biriyani. Keep up with good work.

Their food is really good. It has real bangladeshi flavor. However, service is very salcky. If you oder ONLINE then you will not recived any Chutney, salad, or disposable plates even if it is requested. Also they give chunks of fat and bones in beef curry if I order online. When I go in person, I have to keep requesting them to provide all these, Repeatedly. Food is bit pricey. However their food is good. So we order from there, eventhough not happy with the service.

Service is fast and restaurant is cleaner than the similar surrounding restaurants. Food presentation looks better too. We tried breakfast vegetables and naan. All were good. They also serve chicken roast, big fish curry, Nihari, boot er daal, Aloo bhorta and many more curries. They serve tea too. Great choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Aloo bhaji is super super good. Will definitely come back !

This place is definitely geared toward Indian folks who are knowledgeable of the culture. A foreigner, even an open minded one like myself, would feel a bit lost and confused at Ghoroa. Upon entering the spacious dining area, your eyes direct you towards the buffet-like area at the rear. The various dishes were displayed in a glass covered, heated cart. No one spoke English, patrons and workers alike, and rightly so for everyone there with the exception of a black traffic cop seemed to be from India or close by. The food was ok. The chicken tikka I ordered wasn't roasted all the way through. A little pink when you cut to the bone. I took it to mean that they might actually prefer it that way. I don't know. Their takeout container game needs help. They wrapped everything in foil and put it in a plastic bag. Ok, if you're a food cart but not an A rated restaurant.

The buffet trays were full, so I guess it didn't hit busy-time yet (then again, there's Tikka Garden, Sagar, and Dhaka Sweets down the block). The lady working there was very helpful and I opted for vegetable rice and okra. $6 wasn't bad.

The food here is really good. Lamb chops are the star of the show. Custom service is abysmal. They'll pass off old/burnt food if they don't view you as a regular. Parking nearby is very difficult but that's no fault of the restaurants.

The food is decent unless served later during the day. Service would be better if they hired better staff. I had an experience with a lady behind the counter, she acts like she doesn't hear you when ordering. She's the one with red lipstick and nasty attitude. Hence the 3 stars. She gave me a bad piece of fish intentionally. How do I know you're wondering? Well she looked twice at the piece before packing it and I didn't think nothing of it till I got home!! Full of bones, specifically in that piece. I then realized why she kept looking at that piece. Is this how I should have been dealt with? I'd rather take my taste buds elsewhere.

In general, it is a good place to eat, but I wish they improved the customer service and focus on first come, first serve. I love the Achari chicken, naan, rosogolla, behari kabab, and chicken seekh kabab. They are a bit disoriented. Since I like the food, I go there.

Their food is not bad but their portion size could be better. Restroom needs more tlc. They should not serve curry in paper dish since geavy get soaked into paper.

There food in store is good, everyone can like it. but for catering its a big no. So before u order for catering think about it.

I came from a long tiring travel. I thought I’d enjoy some Bengali food for once. So I ordered from this restaurant, and got it delivered, but I had a one item missing and the rest of the food was filled with BAD OIL ,LOTS OF SALT, & TOO MUCH CHILI!! There was no taste to the food at all !!!! My stomach got BAD and had diarrhea. I ADVISE YOU TO NEVER ORDER HERE AGAIN!

Tried the chicken roast, katla fish, mixed vegetables and chana/booter daal. Tasted worst among NYC Bangladeshi restaurants so far. Very hard get such combination of bad cooking on all the dishes.

Goat curry, flavorful…… BUT THE OIL!!!! I probably dipped out about 10 spoonful of purely oil and it was still a lot remaining. By the time I was done, there was no gravy left. That is not healthy. Also $21 for this bowl that doesn’t have enough curry to eat with rice (just meat) and the food doesn’t even come with rice. Not worth it.

I used to live in the area 4 years ago and loved this place! I think it has been sold since then because I don't see the same people inside. The quality and taste of the food and sweets is not the same. Sad because it was a staple place for good Bangladeshi food and sweets.Even the tea was no good. Very disappointed.

Stay Away! Absolutely disgusting customer service. I ordered my food to go and while waiting i took a picture of the food for my IG story. The lady behind the counter went absolutely insane screaming you can’t take video, you have to ask for permission. I’m like I’m not talking any video of interior or any person, its just a boomerang for the story. She still kept screaming and arguing and making a complete scene. I called the manager that why don't you have a place card that says NO PHOTOGRAPHY. He didn't answer and started talking on the phone. HORRIBLE

This restaurant takes money from people without giving them food. They are total fraud. I had placed an order through doordash pick up, I called before going in they said my order was ready. I went in to pick up my food worth $60 which I had already paid for through doordash & one of the employee tell me that someone else showed my information & picked up my order (which was not true plus impossible cause i only had my app with me). Even on my app it was showing that “ they are preparing order”. They gave my order to someone else which they wont admit their mistakes. Then another guy jumps in who works there said oh i never received your order. So you can completely tell that they both are lying. FREAKING FULL OF FRAUDS! PEOPLE DO NOT GO THERE TO BUY FOOD OR ORDER FROM THEM. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY & EAT YOUR FOOD! Bengalis are FRAUD!!

It was really hectic and very bad experience at the time of dinning. They served old food as a veritable which was not fresh to eat but at the time of asking in the front office they are furious and scrolled us like any thing and finally complain to the authority.

I ordered a roshugula from this place, with no label. I didn’t notice, but I found “FUNGUS” on my desert. It was disgusting! I hope the health department checks this place once again. I used to get sweets from here, but now I feel disgusted from this place and what it used to be and what it is now. Worst Bangladeshi place ever. Went there for a Bangladeshi event (biyer holud) which took place on their bottom floor. They had no air conditioning down there, the hosts had to buy fans themselves to keep things cool down there. It was a disaster for all the guests. Would recommend any place over this, just don't book this place and regret later.

I bought 4 Kachchi Biryani during lunch time on 01/07/2022 from Ghoroa, Jamaica, NY branch and there was so much smell of rose water I and others in my family couldn't eat. When I called on 02/07/20022, a lady at the restaurant blamed my taste bud and then someone named Robin said he would tell the chef to take caution.

Beef biriyani $12 and all I got some oily rice with beef bones. Ridiculous and awful experience. Disgrace. They should also have to display a price list for all the items they serve. I always order from this place either on grubhub, or in person. I dont know what happened to them. The food quality got worst. Bad cooking.. I got some food today from Ghoroa. And everyone at home including myself got food poisoned. We used to love their food, always drove extra miles to get there and order from them.. Never again. On 8/31/2024, we went for dinner. It was terrible experience. Mr. Nur Suman, who was working as front server, he dosen't know how can behave with customers! I believe he didn’t get enough training or he is not fit for this position. I'm not recommending anyone here.

My family and I went to this resturant and let me ramble on about how our experience was not very ideal. Once we arrived we were content with the variety of food options, but once we sat down and ate, the food was barely warm and had such a dissatisfying, mediocre taste. Everything there was straightforward and generic in terms of flavor, which was not a great feeling. Once we were done eating, I suddenly felt a pain around my stomach area, even if it wasn’t entirely because of the food, it still contributes to that very fact. The place overall in food was bland, boring, and horrible. Now the interior showed signs of filth, which is something that shouldn’t be overlooked. In conclusion, the experience is distasteful and dull; not something I’d have the enthusiasm to eat at.

Dined with my family today. The food was average, nothing remarkable. I requested an extra cup for tea and was told I'd have to pay for it. After spending a hundred bucks on the meal, asking more money for a simple extra togo cup felt disappointing. It may seem like a small issue, but small gestures make a big difference. In most places, such requests are handled graciously. It's disheartening to encounter this level of service.

I ordered the beef tehari through Uber eats. I used to eat from this restaurant a lot but recently haven’t because so many new restaurants opened up. Upon receiving my food I noticed it looked nothing like the tehari I used to order. It also seemed a bit slimy. Seems like it was old. I couldn’t smell anything because of my allergies. After eating a few bites I put it away thinking what if I get food poisoning since it was slimy. The beef was also undercooked. Then later on in the day I started to throw up and had diarrhea so badly. I will never eat from this restaurant again. Oh I forgot to mention the week before my husband got chicken roast and pulao from there and he said his stomach was hurting after eating it. I didnt really believe him but now I do. Ghoroa has been around for a long time and I didn’t expect them to serve me old food and get me sick.

Was lied to about freshness of vegetable samosa. It was day old, double fried. The inside potatoes tasted rotten. When I looked at it, I asked the worker if it’s fresh from today and she goes yes why wouldn’t it be fresh. Total garbage food. Also ordered daal (curry) and it tasted so bland parata was a rock. We took a Halim and nehari with garlic naan for iftar. The customer service was horrible still you can ignore it if the food is good enough. They literally served us beef curry with bones in the name of nehari and halim without a pinch of salt. Never going back to their new branch.

Very dissatisfied and disappointed today with bad service and rudeness today. I came to eat indoors and was served my meal, but they gave a salad that looked like it had mold on it. It was left outside and they tried to reserve it to me. I asked them to exchange it with a fresh salad and they said they don't have any. I don't want to get sick so refused it. Later, I see other customers eating fresh salad while I'm eating my own meal with family. Very disappointed with bad service. But the food is generally good, but I didn't get to enjoy my meal without the salad and I wasn't going to get sick with old re-served salad.

Being a regular customer of Ghoroa Restaurant hillside branch, today I went to grab my favorite chicken biriyani and roast. When I ordered the food someone named Noor Sumon was there in the register. He took my order in a hurry(without listening carefully)and packed wrong item. When I asked him why are you packing the wrong item? i ordered Chicken Biriyani and you are packing Murog polao! At that very moment he started shouting at me and complaining to his co-workers that he asked me thrice which one I want.I literally showed him from the counter which one I want and he was standing in the register. He started yelling at me like im his slave! I wish I could do a video then. Yo broo get a life. If you cant take pressure just leave it. You have ZERO knowledge in customer service. @Ghoroa_owner you should consider this matter. This man also did the same thing in last Ramadan with me. That time I didn’t spoke out anything as it was Ramadan time.

Made Me Sick. I bought Rui fish curry with rice this afternoon. I don't know how many days ago they cooked the food. Now at 11:28 PM, I have terrible stomach pain and felt sick. This is awful. Nobody should try the deshi food from this place if you want to keep your good healthy. The food may not be fresh and could make you sick.

As a Bangladeshi American, who doesn’t look Bengali I usually get treated differently when I go out without my mom. This is upsetting and I am appalled by the treatment I received the other day. On Saturday I went to eat after a painful appointment at one of my favorite restaurants. The lady proceeded to take customers that came after me and when I told her I was here first she said oh I will take him first. The other customer did not allow her to do this to me and she was forced to take my order. I saw down with my food and did not receive the complimentary water that normally comes when you dine in. The lady brought me a bottled water. I asked her why she did this to me but not the others, she did not have a valid response. The treatment I received was very racist and discriminatory. I told the lady after that they treat people who don’t look Bengali awfully. This place is racist. The food is good, but many Bengali's forget that in America other ethnicities and people exist.

If you’re unable to fulfill Uber Eats orders, then you shouldn’t be accepting them, rather than cancelling every single time.

When the lady was making my 3 to go bowls, I even told her several times that these are fir kids and you are giving me onIy bones, she ignored me and gave me a nasty look. was shocked to find at home when I opened those bowls searching for meat. There are only bones and no actual meat. It felt like I was just chewing on leftovers, and it made the whole experience extremely unsatisfying. I understand that sometimes bones are part of a dish, but to have no substantial meat at all was completely unacceptable, especially for a dish that’s supposed to feature beef. $45. The staffs are horrible and the female staffs are only chitchatting with male customers. What is this? which only added to my frustration. Definitely won’t be coming back for the same dish, and I can't recommend it to anyone. I have spent 100s and 1000s of dollars in this restaurant and I don't think Ghoroa cares about their customers to be happy.
