Opinions de Dim Sum Box Katy
Great service and ambiance. Their dim sum is above average and their quality is almost as good as what you get from Chinatown. Really glad this dim sum place opened up near us. Will definitely visit here more often. Their turnip cake is pretty good and the Liu sa bao is great. Appreciate that the Sauce for the vegetable comes separately. Highly recommend this dim sum place!
WE LOVE THIS PLACE!! I have been on the hunt for soup dumplings. The best place I’ve had it was in New York but this place is a high contender! They were a bit small but I loved how they had the aluminum trays to help catch the soup if it burst. This will definitely be my go to place for dumplings in Katy! It does get extremely busy on Sunday so we were lucky to get a table.
Highly recommend you to try this modern yet deeply rooted dim sum place!! Located on the corner of the strip plaza, this dim sum cafe restaurant is a clean, modern & stylish place to enjoy some delicious food. Note that this not a traditional dim sum restaurant (no push carts) but they do have some classic dishes of all kinds, and the bonus is you get to try with a bunch of elevated dim sum too! It's a modern take of traditional dimsum dishes, but they do have some traditional dim sum dishes enough to satisfy a dim sum craving: shao mai, ha gow, pan-fried turnip cake, pan-fried chive dumplings, baked golden Lava buns, steamed bbq pork buns, Snowy BBQ pork buns, chicken feet, lotus leaf sticky rice, shrimp 'chern fun' (rice noodle crepe), preserved egg & pork congee, soy sauce noodles, egg tarts, coconut jello bunnies. The star ⭐️ and unique dish of the restaurant is the XL pork soup dumplings!!! There are 4 flavors: truffle oil, wasabi oil, garlic, and spicy pepper. I've tried the 1st 3 flavors, and they are amazing!!!! ✨️Large in size and has yummy hot soup in the dumpling. Perfect balance of flavors and meat-skin-soup ratio. Their modern-take dimsum dishes are great! Like their Peking duck egg rolls and Peking duck rice noodle crepes. Jalapeño dishes. Would recommend calling ahead for groups larger than 6 or 8 people for better accommodation. Kind and friendly service. Great seating. Clean restaurant. Kid-friendly. Free parking in lot. Clean restrooms.
Surprisingly delicious for the Asian Town location. Authentic Cantonese flavors. The rice noodles was a hit. Steamed rice noodles were smooth and just the right about of chewy texture. Pork belly skin was crispy but slightly thick. Impressed and did not taste like reheated frozen dimsum you would find in Bellaire/Chinatown. Easy to order and they bring the food out when it's hot and ready.
Excellent dim sum at Dim Sum Box... We ordered a bunch of menu items. —Shao Mai (Shrimp & Pork) Dumplings - Steamed Shrimp, Pork & Shitake Mushrooms Dumplings (4 pcs) —Steamed BBQ Pork Buns - Steamed Bun w/ Sweet Savory BBQ Pork Filling (3pcs) —Shanghai Pork Soup Dumplings - Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings (4pcs) —Panfried Pork Dumplings —Peking Duck Rolls —Steamed Rice Noodles w/ Beef - Includes: 1 Sweet Soy Sauce —Panfried Pork Chive Dumplings Favorites were the steamed bbq pork buns (best I have had in a long time, and reminded me of Hong Kong), Shao Mai, pork soup dumplings and Peking duck rolls.
Another lovely addition to Katy Asian Town. Fam does a fair amount of dim sum. No denying their dim sum fare- fresh, delicious and quality. The time we went there, no crowds. So, service was fast and food arrived promptly. All hot. Dishes kept arriving several at a time.. fam were so happy. We will be back. The steamed rice noodle or Chee cheong fun as some communities call it.. wow! The chef has nailed the recipe and cooking the char siu and also shrimp Chee cheong fun… love the deconstructed approach to the assembly.. flavor and taste score high with the fam. ❤️👍🏽❤️👍🏽 The chives dumpling is a must try. Next time we are coming back for the Peking duck and see how that holds up. And since this place of an extension of Fung kitchen on US HWY 59.. fam plans to give that restaurant a try after such a positive experience at Dim Sum Box.
Exceptional traditional and fusion style dumpling, noodle and stir fry dishes, and so much more. The service was fantastic and the prices were on point, Will be coming back again. P.F. Chang is garbage by comparison.
Been wanting to Try out this restaurant for a few weeks now and BOY, was I totally not disappointed. Actually disappointed that I didn’t come sooner. This place is not only fun, it’s delicious. Great place for a date. We orders some dim sum samplers and the mushroom fries. I think I found the best fries in Houston, but they’re made from mushrooms and not potatoes. Wanna enjoy a date out, this is the place, but beware, because it gets pretty crowded.
Late night hungry after work. Stopped by last minute before closing (around 8:50) to grab a snack. They had a limited menu because the kitchen was closing down, so only steamed goods. I had a lovely chat with the workers and customers. The wait was a little longer, probably because they were closing, but it shouldn't be a problem if you come earlier during regular hours. I got the classic dim sum staple, shu mai. There was two versions, regular and something I never tried before, lemongrass chicken shrimp shu mai. The regular was very tender, smooth and melts in your mouth. The lemongrass one, you can really smell and taste the lemongrass. It has a different texture to it- you can feel strands of the grass in the shu mai, and has some woodears mushrooms I believe. Not really a fan of that one (the grass ruins the smoothness of the dim sum). They were a little bit salty for my palate, but it was still delicious nonetheless. Will bring family and friends to try out the full menu to see how the Dim Sum is! PS. Shoutout to Justina and the kitchen staff for giving me some Lava buns to try!
Foods good. The pictures on the website make the dumplings look bigger than they are. The soup dumplings small. Small portions quick bites type place. The wasabi was very good! The garlic was good. The calamari is very good seasoned and tender! The egg bun is sweet and Gooey The pork ribs and beans... Kinda poverty but was good. Lava bun was ok The fried dumplings and steamed dumplings were very good!! $10-20 a person pending what you want IMO $20ish to be comfortable. I ate $45ish to get full. Cool snack place. Few families inside, seems kid friendly Service was good
We went for lunch on Sunday. There were 8 of us. We had to put our name on the waitlist and waited outside. They gave us their menu and order form so that by the time they called us, we just go to the cashier and give them our order form. This makes them efficient with getting our orders quickly. However, it makes the food cold when we get our orders almost all at once. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly. We will definitely go back here again.
We got to test out their indoor dining today and we are very satisfied customers and definitely plan on coming back. Very stylish decor inside and friendly staff. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious! So glad to have a dim sum place close to home now! Our usual place to go is Crown Seafood in Chinatown, and I have to say it is just as good! Can't wait to try out more of their menu!
Each dish was hot & flavorful. The specialty dipping sauces really kicks things up a notch! Glad we have a delicious, legit dim sum place in katy. What we ordered: • Hot orange blossom white tea • Congee • Lava buns • BBQ rice noodle roll • Pork & shrimp sieu mai • Pan fried pork, shrimp & chive dumpling • Giant shrimp claw • truffle soy dipping sauce
Every bite at Dim Sum Box was a flavor explosion – truly divine! 🌟 The delicately crafted dumplings showcased a symphony of tastes, and the XLB soup dumplings were a sensation with their rich, savory broth. The garlic green beans added a perfect crunch and a burst of garlicky goodness. 😋 What sets Dim Sum Box apart is the impeccable balance of flavors, creating the perfect dim sum experience. Each dumpling felt like a culinary masterpiece, and the attention to detail in the preparation was evident. The combination of textures and tastes was nothing short of perfection. 🥢 The ambiance added to the overall enjoyment, making it a memorable dining experience. The friendly service and inviting atmosphere enhanced the joy of savoring these delectable treats. Dim Sum Box has truly mastered the art of delivering not just a meal, but a culinary adventure. Can't wait to return for more exquisite dim sum moments! 🥟🌆 #DimSumPerfection #HoustonCulinaryAdventure
The food was amazing. Loved the truffle oil added to the dim sum. The variety of dipping sauces was great. Everything was very tasty. Fried rice was excellent also. Loved the heart theme going on. If you like Dim Sum you will love this place.
Tried DimSum Box once in the afternoon, food was amazing. Came back today but during nighttime. The vibe was immaculate - perfect dimmed lit lightings, fancy bar and very unique cocktails. The food was consistently good and service was quick too. Highly recommend to check this spot out in Katy if you are near the area.
Love the made to order style so it’s a small wait but the dishes come out pipping hot and fresh. Large portions match the price point. $6.99 & up starting price. Service was excellent and friendly. Decor is very cute. My go to spot for dim sum in Katy when not in Chinatown bellaire blvd
Super friendly staff every single time! The dimsum are fresh and such a closer drive than Bellaire Asiantown. Heads up to be prepare to wait 20 mins on the weekends if you have a party of six or more. Afterwards, you can have desserts, bakery items, boba, crepe, or tea around the area. There's so many places to browse and try!
Love the food and the ambience especially post renovation. The staff was super friendly and recommended all the best dishes. I'm amazed at the soup dumplings with the truffle oil insert, I've never seen that in my life and I've had thousands of soup dumplings in my life. I highly recommend this place to anyone whose visiting or local as well if you haven't gone yet !
Best Dim Sum ever (and I have had alot of dim sum)! We went in for lunch, and it was magnificent. Everything is made in house fresh, and you can taste it. The food came very fast and the Shao Mai is hands down the best thing I have ever eaten. I can't even describe the perfection in that bite-sized piece of heaven. Perfect balance in the dishes, meat was absolutely delicious, broth was sooooo good, 12/10. The staff & owner are incredibly friendly, chatted with us, and just made it a wonderful meal. Ended our lunch with their lava bun for desert, I loved the unique treat! Not too sweet but very flavorful. Unlike anything we have had before in the most delightful way. 100% recommend! Will be back with friends & family and for more of the wonderful iced tea's! I had the Lavender Mint and it was exquisite 👌🏻 ✨️
Everything we ordered was goooodddddd. The fried mushrooms was awesome. Pork and shrimp dumpling and soup dumplings was awesome. The crispy pork belly has nice flavor. Service was great and staff made sure everything was to our liking. We will definitely come back.
Great dim sum. Best I've had in Katy so far. They have some options that aren't at other dim sum places. Peking duck was really good too. The baked Golden Egg yolk lava buns are a must for dessert. The Orange Blossom white tea was nice. The Persian cucumber salad was a refreshing palate cleanser.
I came in an hour before close and ordered way too much food after the gym. The servings are large. Everything has a lot of flavors. Everyone is friendly. Try the mushroom fries!

glad that Katy area finally have a dim sum restaurant. don't need to go all the way to Bellaire Blvd to Chinatown to get dim sum. food is great but prices not higher than typical dim sum and this was counter service as in you go to front to other and pay and then they bring out the food to you and so from that interaction friendly service.
A nice spot to visit ! A reminder to all those who eat dim sum get there early (like opening) otherwise you’ll be waiting! Customer service was friendly and attentive. Quality of food was above average forsure! What I do want to mention is the shrimp balls were a tad bit salty and so was the turnip cake. I did however like the egg custard desserts ! The shrimp shumai was delicious and a lot of the steamed items were cooked nicely. It is a great alternative to Kimson if you plan on being in Katy vs Bellaire. It does have limited space compared to other dim sum places so keep that in mind. Lastly, the tea was great (passion fruit green tea) it’s on the sweeter side but nothing that water can’t fix. Priced appropriately I feel. Look forward to coming back and trying a few other items.
Tasted pretty fresh, although some of the dish like infused dumplings aren't worth the price per taste.
Delicious. Most of the items were delicious. I liked that the shrimp is outside the rice rolls. This guarantees the shrimp is not overcooked. Portions and price were just right, unlike their dim sum neighbor a block away. The lava buns were fantastic. I would get this every time. This is my new favorite dim sum spot. Try to get here early since there’s not that much sitting room inside.
Recent visit has shown a noticeable decline in service...dim sum was still decent, but doubt I'd come back here when there are so many other options. Decent dim sum for the area. Favorite was probably the fried garlic har gow. Lot of the other dishes were decent, didn't really stand out. The fried Calamari was probably our least favorite...not crispy and bland. Prices were also higher than most. I would probably go back if I were in the Katy area, but there are definitely better by Bellaire area.
Came in Tuesday. Surprisingly, it's happy hour all day with limited menu. Soup dumplings were good, nothing out of ordinary. Duck eggrolls dry, ask for dipping sauce. Pork and chicken with chives were good, egg tarts had a fresh taste. Shrimp balls same as others. Their fried rice had a unique flavor that was $19 worth of good flavor. What scored a 5 is the service from our female waitress. She was attentive.
Visited: Dec. 2022 I tried this place out for the first time. It's owned by the same person who owns Fung's Kitchen. The dim sum menu was shorter than their usual restaurant one. The food did take a while to come out but the dishes came out piping hot and fresh. I was curious about the Lava Buns since I had never tried it from the restaurant style and I actually liked it. There were plenty of filling and the salted egg yolk part was tasty. The shrimp rice noodle wrap was my absolute fav because the rice noodle was smooth, bouncy and not too soggy. In addition, the shrimp was just perfect. The chicken feet was okay. The black bean sauce didn't get soaked enough within the chicken feet. The xiao mai was juicy and meaty. The table was dirty before I sat down at it. Are they not cleaned right after each customer?
Tasted pretty fresh, although some of the dish like infused dumplings aren't worth the price per taste.

I would come here only if I am in a rush to get a quick bite but it’s definitely not a place to meet and catch up with friends. Dim sum is normally shared with friends over a conversation and eating leisurely. You get a feeling from the staff rushing you to finish your food so they can turn table. The deco is modern and very casual but the layout was not well planned often blocking the work and customer’s flow. Ordering was a breeze and they also have loyalty program here.
The dumplings are good overall, Nothing extraordinary. I feel that the price was too elevated for what we ate. The atmosphere is nice and servers are really nice. But the system they use to charge is weird, we order some and they brought a check, and we order more and they brought another check. I really like the flavor or the soup dumplings, but they were so little The lava ones are to sweet almost like a dessert And the truffle one is tasty but it doesn’t justify the price
Visited Dim Sum Box for the third time and this time we ordered a variety dishes: the Baked Snowy Pork Buns, Fried Shrimp Balls, Shao Mai Dumplings, Chicken Feet, Pork Ribs with Black Beans, and Spicy Sichuan Chive Dumplings. Service was efficient, the food came out quickly. The Fried Shrimp Balls and Shao Mai Dumplings were enjoyable. However, the rest of the selection felt fairly average. The flavors didn’t particularly stand out, and some dishes lacked the depth or balance we typically look for in dim sum. The pricing is on the higher side and overall experience, which may not feel justified if you’re seeking something beyond the basics. Dim Sum Box is a good choice for a quick bite or to satisfy a dim sum craving, but it may not leave a lasting impression for seasoned dim sum enthusiasts.
We came here for an early dinner. We ordered pork siomai, which was good; the garlic egg fried rice was also good, and the fried butter chicken wings were good as well. We also ordered sticky rice in lotus leaves, which is much better when store-bought. The beef rice noodles were okay. This is our second time coming here, and we experienced the same issue as last time: an extended wait for one of our orders. Either they forgot it, or the service is just slow, even though at that time only four tables were occupied, and one table had already received their food.
Great service and great atmosphere. Just the food was okay. The Cheung Fun (rice noodle roll) was thick, tasted like soy-sauce-covered rice lasagna. The Lo Bak Go (turnip cake) literally tasted like mushy rice cake. This cake supposed to have turnips and sausage dice. Their turnip cake literally only had one small bite of turnip and maybe like 1 small dice of sausage? Their rice porridge is probably made with chicken or beef broth base, not solely from rice. Again their food was okay, but their services were good. This location is close to medical services. If you want to eat okay Chinese dim sum, this place is a choice for you in that area.
Food was quick and easy to order, but overall it was a okay. For the price and hype that would built up I would have expected something more. We got several items that quickly added up to about 70$ before tip. Beef with noodle (tasty), red bean sesame balls (not enough filling), baked snowy pork buns (this was a new one for me, great filling but personally the sweetness on top was different. Not bad but different) lotus leaf sticky rice (tasty), pork ribs with black bean (as tasty as anywhere else), steamed snow pea dumpling (tasty), pork soup dumplings (there mid range for me), Peking duck rolls (again something different from what I expected, very gelatinous inside), milk tea and the butterfly tea (on the sweet side) and the pork chive dumpling… this is the one that kinda ruined the experience for me. I didn’t eat mine at the restaurant I took mine home to enjoy. While eating it I noticed something pink in it and realized it was shrimp. Which I have an allergy to. I called the restaurant to let them know maybe I they gave me the wrong item. They let me know that it does come with shrimp and that the two ** meant that it had shrimp in it. The lady was very nice, though matter of fact about it but still I think that with several items on the menu with the word shrimp that a dumpling that has half shrimp in it would also be named shrimp and pork dumpling. Luckily my allergy is not life threatening. Later the lady did call me back to apologize and to offer me a refund for that dish but at this point I will be sticking to my regular dim sum spots. It was not about the money but more safety. Over all this is just a personal preference as the place is very well lite, clean and staff is friendly. Service is quick and food is hot and fresh.

We came during lunch time and had to wait for a while for a table. The place looks clean but chairs had food residue. Food took a long time to arrive IMO. Har Gao - 1/5 Skin too thick :( Chilli Oil Pork Chives Dumplings - 5/5 Great Truffle Soup Dumplings - 5/5 Unique, kinda pricey though Pork Soup Dumplings - 0/5 Tiny, dry, soupless, and they give pickled ginger!? Ew🫣 Lemongrass Shao Mai - 3/5 Not bad could be more juicy Sesame Balls - 2/5 Nice taste but so little fillings feeling cheated Turnip Cakes - 3/5 Not bad Tea - Meh no taste
Disappointed by the lack of quality control, especially given the high price and small portions. I was excited to try the Golden Egg Yolk Lava ‘Sesame’ Balls, but unfortunately, one of the three came completely bare—no sesame coating at all. No sesame, no shame, just sitting there like it forgot its outfit at home. At $7.99 for a small portion, I expected more consistency and attention to detail. It was embarrassing to gift something so visibly flawed, and frankly, I felt the quality didn’t match the price at Dim Sum Box. Whoever packed this must’ve been on a sesame break. I sincerely hope the team takes this feedback to heart and improves quality control moving forward.

The place is definitely pricier than a good dimsum place in downtown of Houston. The food was loaded with oil, with every bite I felt oil ooze out of the food. Utterly disgusting. When I complained about the same they told me that’s how it is made. No one deserves to hear such a bad response for the price and the tip they generously grab from the customers. The wait for a three piece din-sum was 45 minutes. And everyone else was getting served. Not sure how it works. Just felt unappreciated as a customer even after they grabbed a 15% tip. If only I could have tasted the food before the tip. May be they know…that’s the reason they grab money before they can let u taste their disaster food. I ordered noodles, mushroom fries and dimsum. Noodles were hard like rock and chewy like bubble gum. Had to chew them for 15 minutes for each bite. All they had was onion, soy sauce and noodles. Felt more like a side than a main. Please remove it off the menu to save customers some money and time. Dimsum was the only average thing in the entire meal and they charged me $9 for three dimsums. And the size of the Dimsum were pretty small with very fat skin, minimal filling. Even if it was made from scratch not sure why it took them 35 minutes. Mine was served along with the person on the next table who arrived 35 minutes after me. Their butterfly pea lemonade is loaded with sugar. It’s definitely not healthy to just dump sugar and oil in customers food like their health doesn’t matter at all. We left 90% of the food as we couldn’t eat no matter how hard we tried.
Tried this place today, we got sit down pretty quickly since we came at 8PM so almost closing time. There were 3-4 tables already have their food so the restaurant wasn’t busy. We waited for 10-15 minutes and the server didn’t even bother to come check. I knew it closing time so I walked to the register so the server can key my food in. Not a single time the server came check on us. When the first dish brought out we had to ask for water. Service is non existent in this restaurant. We waited for water refill but the server never came back to check on us. Food is not cheap but it was meh. Soup dumplings were the worst I have tried in Houston area. Go to Tim Ho Wan for better food and service. See the photos that I took, no water for us after waiting all that time
Awful. Whole order was cold and this was considered a whole duck - enough for about 8 pancakes (which were soggy and disgusting). Quality of the whole order was very poor quality. Will not order again.
