One of the best Thai restaurants . If you love real Thai food not Americanized you have to try this place . The heat from the spices to the special sauces it leaves your mouth watering . The service is amazing . Everything fresh and hot . The duck was tender and had a little crispy side to it .
Thaicoon Katy: A Five-Star Feast with a Side of Robotics! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thaicoon in Katy just blew me away with their incredible food and fun atmosphere! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. But the real highlight? Their adorable robotic server car that brought us our food! Talk about a cute touch! Now, let's talk about the dishes we devoured: * Panang Curry: This was absolutely divine! The curry was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. * Pad Thai: Not only was the presentation beautiful (wrapped in a delicate egg!), but the flavors were spot-on. A classic done right! * Tom Yum Noodle Soup: This soup was bursting with flavor! The perfect balance of spicy, sour, and savory. Everything was fresh, delicious, and cooked to perfection. Thaicoon definitely knows how to deliver an amazing Thai dining experience. If you're in the Katy area, this place is a must-try!
I had the green curry lunch special. The food was outstanding. I had heard great things from a lot of people for a while. I finally visited this week, and I'm disappointed in myself for not going sooner. I will definitely be back. I am definitely looking forward to trying other dishes.
10-28-2025 We have always enjoyed Thaicoon and their many GF options , but today was absolutely the best dining experience. (Helped make up for the terrible breakfast experience at Toasted Yolk this morning. ) The food was fabulous as always, but we also happened to be eating during happy hour. The waiter delivered great service, the food came out fast, fresh, and fantastic, and drinks were so good. We stopped an employee walking by and asked for the happy hour drink menu again. He not only obliged quickly with a smile, but he enthusiastically answered questions we had about some of the drinks. We didn’t know he was the bartender, but that explained his explicit knowledge of the drinks. But his joy and enthusiasm describing the drinks was not just a bartender answering questions. He was excited about his drinks and the drinks we ordered were amazing. We reflected on our terrible breakfast experience and this was such a totally wonderful dining experience we decided we should talk to the manager and give kudos to everyone who helped us. It turns out the manager was not in that night. That just speaks volumes to how great that manager must be to have a staff so customer focused and striving for such perfection because they care, and not because the manager is watching. Thank you, Thaicoon, for taking one of our favorite restaurants from fantastic to awesome!
I always appreciate being able to have Gluten free Thai food here, the owner is also so friendly and staff recognizes us each time we come, I think the place deserves better ratings than 4.2! 😊 I’m a happy customer, love the Curries all GF, fried rice is GF, noodles are GF & Thai Larb is GF! Gluten Free food is labeled all over the menus & more we haven’t yet tried! We definitely are regulars here now. 🫶 PS: I am not Celiac but I am Gluten Intolerant so I have to be so careful!
The service and the food was great . The millionaire muscle was great . Loved the spring rolls , fried rice and the Thai curry. Our friend ordered the sea food curry, but something was off with the fish. We asked for a replacement and the staff replaced it without fuss. Overall it was a nice dining experience
Recently visited this newer Thaicoon restaurant on a weekday, thought it’s necessary to share some good experiences. The Penang Curry I tried is really stood out for me. The creamy coconut sauce with level 2 spice was the perfect heat—just enough kick without being overwhelming. The pork was tender and flavorful, making it one of the best versions I’ve had in a while. One of the best parts? The lunch specials! They come with your choice of two spring rolls or one spring roll and a side salad—a nice balance of something crispy and something fresh. It’s a great value, and the combo feels both satisfying and healthy. Will definitely revisit more often.
Service from front to back of the house is great! Even the bartender will come by to offer recommendations if you ask. The food is delivered via a robot, fun for all. Aside from service, food is great with good amount of vegetarian options. Here’s what I’ve had and recommend: • Vegetable Eggrolls - cooked perfectly and pairs well with the sweet & sour sauce • Poppin' Papaya Salad - spice level 2 was already pretty spicy. Flavorful and delicious! • Tom Yum Noodle - ordered with shrimp, has lots of veggies. Noodles are perfectly cooked and soup is delicious. Well presented in a stone pot. • Pineapple fried rice - comes in a real pineapple. The presentation alone is pretty but it’s good to boot! • Panang Curry w/tofu & vegetables - one of the most flavorful Thai curries I’ve had. • Pad Kee Mao - noodles cooked just right, first plate to get devoured! The drinks are made well, grab an old fashioned while you’re here. They have a good selection of whiskey amongst other spirits.
My wife and I have only done take out but every time has been so good. My go to is the Bloomin’ Pad Thai with chicken, very generous portion I typically have a little leftovers. My wife mixes it up but has enjoyed everything so far. For appetizers, we’ve tried the Firecracker Shrimp which are good but the Money Bags are delicious! I think anything on their menu would be good and ingredients all seem to be good quality. I would highly recommend!
A great spot for Thai food lovers with a full bar! The food was excellent, service was good, and the ambiance was vibrant. It was our first visit, and my family loved it. The menu caters well to both non-veg and vegan options, and it’s kid-friendly too—our little one enjoyed his chicken fried rice. Portions were generous and perfect for sharing. We also appreciated the clear spice level warnings on the menu—they were spot on! There are still plenty of dishes we’d love to try, so we’ll definitely be back.
I absolutely love this restaurant. The food, drinks, and service are all great! I want to give a special thank you to Win for your hospitality! Her service today is the reason I am writing this review. The thai fried rice with shrimp & the yellow curry chicken from the regular menu are my favorites here. Not to mention, they have one of the best happy hours I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot lol. You can get premium bourbons on happy hour here for $5, cocktails for $6, as well as an extensive menu of appetizers for $6. And the $6 old fashioned is chef’s kiss. Also on happy hour the money bags and spicy basil calamari are a must. The only thing I’ve had here that I didn’t enjoy was the whole fish. Otherwise everything is a 10/10. It’s also such a treat to have the little robot deliver your food to your table during busy times!
Visited Thaicoon yesterday for dinner. It’s a very nice place. Ambience was really good. Food was delicious. Salmon in penang curry was out of the world and the fried calamaris were tasty. For chicken lovers there is only 1 starter available. But in main course there are a good amount of chicken options. The waitress looked pretty rude in the beginning but I think it was because she had difficulty in understanding English. Apart from that it is a great place to spend time with friends and family. Highly recommended!
Thaicoon was a decent experience overall. The pad thai had good flavor, but it was a bit heavy on the carrots and lighter on the meat than expected, which made it feel slightly unbalanced. The dish was still enjoyable, just not quite what I was hoping for. Service was fine, and the overall experience was okay. It’s a solid option if you’re craving Thai food, with some room for improvement.
Excellent food, excellent interior, modern feel… but back hallway seems dangerous because all their “stuff” is stacked back there but the bathrooms are right at the front as you enter the hallway, so it’s okay, but it’s an eyesore. Additionally, even though we have now been here 3 times in the last month(!), minus one star because their payment system automatically has tips set to 20,22,25% or some ridiculous tip amount. THIS IS CRAZY! And they are holding the handheld thing at your table while you’re choosing the tip and paying so it’s a bit awkward. We have had green and red curries, pad Thai, som tam (papaya salad), and even some chicken wings during their happy hour. Lots of specials, and 5 levels of spice.
Great place for some Thai, with plenty of options and good service. This is my parent’s favorite Thai place. The curry is probably the best thing on the menu and the portions are big. I got the pad ka pow and I wasn’t impressed with it, it weirdly didn’t have a lot of flavor. Almost watery. Stick with the curry, it’s always a hit.
After seeing countless posts on social media from this restaurant, we decided to try it out! They have a great happy hour menu - lots to choose from at reasonable prices. We ordered spring rolls, bang bang shrimp, chicken satay, Penang curry and green curry. The portions of the curries were quite larger compared to the other Thai places around town. We couldn’t finish them and took them to go and ended up eating for another 2 meals at home! The curries were missing salt and spice, so we asked for some chili oil and paste. After adding that, the taste was better. Spring rolls and shrimp very good. They have a cool robot that helps bring out the food plates / trays. Service was great even though we arrived 45 minutes to closing. Our server was great! Would return to try the other items on the menu.
We visited this place on high recommendation of a friend. We ordered tom yum, thai red curry and pineapple fried rice. Spice level is from 1-5 with no returns or exchanges on food items. We did level 1 on soup and level 3 on other items. The food was very delicious and the spice tray with various spices was great. Ambience and decor is really pretty. Service definitely needs improvement as they had one person taking orders and she was mostly in the kitchen never coming back to ask if we needed anything else. We will definitely be back but just hoping the service is improved.
I have been here many times over the past few years. I will say that their quality of food remains the same what has changed is their quantity of food, unfortunately it has seem to been reduced over the years. That is nothing against them it's a tough market in food with inflation and meat cost rising. With that said though their service remains top notch. Food - remains very consistent other than quantity it's still a great spot for Thai food. I recommend their basil fried rice or pineapple fried rice or any of their curry. For appetizers I thoroughly enjoy their millionaire mussels. 3/5 food. Service - remains great, tables are cleared quickly, orders are entered promptly and accurately, water glass remains full even if I have another beverage there. 4/5 service Atmosphere - clean, welcoming. Bathrooms are very clean, floors cleaned, tables cleaned, walls, curtains, and ceiling vents cleaned. If a game is going on because there is a bar it can get sometimes loud and rowdy. 4/5 ambience.
We visited Thaicoon on a busy Friday night and were initially told the wait would be around 30 minutes, which we completely understood given how full the restaurant was. Surprisingly, within 5 minutes, we were told a table was ready. While we appreciated the short wait time, we were a bit put off when the host simply handed us the menus, pointed toward the available table, and had us seat ourselves, it felt impersonal and somewhat rude. We ordered the Fried Cracker Shrimp, Blooming Pad Thai, Akaushi Wagyu Pad Ka Pow, and tried the Red Elephant and Thai Colada from the bar. The Fried Cracker Shrimp were the standout, crispy and flavorful when paired with the sweet and sour sauce. However, the Blooming Pad Thai and Wagyu Pa Ka Pow were just average. Both didn’t leave a particularly memorable impression. Overall, an okay experience with a few highlights, but the service and some of the dishes left room for improvement.
I recommend the Thai Basil fried rice. I ordered 3 on a 1-5 spice level, and it was NOT spicy at all. If you want it kind of spicy ask for level 5. Or, you can request some additional spices which I added in to make my dish spicier. I wouldn’t recommend the pad thai though, since it wasn’t flavorful at all. Next time I’ll best try the curry.
What a shame! I have been wanting to visit this place for a while now. I see all the photos on instagram and people talking about this restaurant so I had to check it out. I even invited some friends that were in from New Orleans to join us for some fun and “good food”… I had such big expectations for this place and was so very much let down as the hype was all just that “just all talk”! This was the worst place I have ever visited! Not only could the bartenders not make a good drink my drink was und-drinkable. I ordered a dirty martini and got back a drowned in vermouth abomination!! I asked for an other one as it was not made right and it came back even worse!! I was so appalled!! It was so gross! I even tried to order something so simple any BAR could make, I ordered a margarita and it was horrible!!! The server hardly ever came by to see if we needed anything and couldn’t even remember to bring us water, I had to get up and get some from the bar. The food was laughable! One dish was scallops in a broth on a spoon. The photo showed a nice size scallop but when we received our dish the scallops were the size of your pinky nail!!! Don’t waste your time, effort, and money trying this place out!! You will be disappointed!!!! All the food they show you is nothing like the food you actually get. The service was very bad even with only three other couples there. All the staff did was sit behind the bar area and talk. I wonder, with 6 people behind the bar can anyone that works there even make a decent drink at all?? If A martini and a margarita trip you all up??? Can Any real bartenders out there reading this and make this make sense???
