I had such a genuinely positive experience at Soju 101 and felt like it deserved a thoughtful review. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and comfortable, and the service truly stood out. There was a young Asian employee who helped me at the counter, and he was incredibly kind and patient throughout the entire interaction. I was actually a dollar short when paying, which was a little embarrassing, but he handled it so graciously and reassured me in such a calm and understanding way. Instead of making it awkward, he was respectful and genuinely helpful, which made the experience even more meaningful. It’s small acts of kindness like that which really show how much a place values its customers. The overall service was attentive, polite, and efficient, and it left a lasting impression. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking not only for great food but also for truly great customer service.

Awesome place that has a very nice food and drink menu. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful about all the different food and drink choices that they have

Soju 101 was such a good time for me. I tried their potato twisters and the cheesy buldak and guys… YUM, both were so good I couldn’t stop eating. We did have to wait a while before anyone came to take our order, but the staff made up for it with how friendly and helpful they were once they got to us. The vibe inside was lively but still comfortable, and it felt like the kind of place where you can actually relax and enjoy your night. I’d honestly come back just for those dishes alone.

We’ve been coming here since they opened because the food is good. Nice karaoke area, good music, private booths. Highly recommend the yangyum chicken, cheese tteobokki, and both the seafood and kimchi pankcakes. Try the tangerine makgeolli with your spicy food ( what a treat, made with jeju tangerines) ❤️

We used one of the booths and it was cozy and private for our group of four. Food quantity is good and they have a lot of appetizers worth trying. Will be back again.

Great spot for Korean comfort food and drinks! The odeng was delicious—warm broth, fresh toppings, and tasty fish cake skewers. Perfect with soju and great for sharing with friends. Friendly staff and chill vibe. Will definitely come back!

Great Korean place. We wanted something "small and easy" since we were meeting up for dessert later with friends. It was so good we still over ate, but no regrets. Will go back and try more of the many yummy looking and smelling food.

Great Korean pub grub. We didn’t do the karaoke but we would definitely return. The only complaint is the mixed drink and draft beer options could be better. Their mixed drinks are all sweet drinks and there is no Korean beer on tap.

We have been here a few times. We had a great time every time. They have a Korean menu, even the, drinks. I'm excited to try everything, the Korean soup and wings are my favorite. They have quite a selection of music for karaoke, although no country music. For a reasonable fee you can rent a PRIVATE room! There are, however only 3 rooms. There's a bar, booths, and tall tables. Open late which is great.

Firstly want to shoutout the hostess that tolerated us that night. We had a moderate size party and a few people took a while to come but she still checked in on us after giving us a room. 10/10 customer service. The food was well done. Heavily sauced wings, great rolls and crisp fries. Multiple Soju flavors. The atmosphere fits the aesthetic the place gives. It's built for drinking and karaoke and reminds me of the karaoke places I would see in some of my favorite slice of life animes

The food here is alright but they do give you a lot of it so it is a pretty good value. Good spot to drink a ton of soju and have fun chats with friends. We tried the Kimchi Pajeon, the K-pop Fries, and the Chili Cream Chicken which I all thought were just okay. Maybe I enjoyed the K-pop fries a bit more because I liked the fries and kimchi together.

The place was a little empty during lunch. I think more people go at night since they have karaoke rooms and a big bar. I had bulgogi it tasted good but a lot of meat pieces had a lot of fat. To drink I had a beer, you can’t never go wrong with a beer. The menu has a lot of varieties. I would like to go back and try other dishes. Service was quick and good. The restrooms need a lot of work. They are not taken care of. No toilet paper, dirty and the soap dispenser was broken.

Such a fun place! The karaoke is good and the rooms are *very* soundproof so you can scream your heart out and have fun. The food is just okay, nothing spectacular. The wings are very crispy and the spicy pork has a great heat. The honey butter chicken has a dry cheese powder on it which while tasty, is very dry. I don’t recommend the steamed egg because it tasted overwhelmingly like the cast iron pot it was cooked in. Overall, great for fun but just okay for food, but if you need somewhere that’s open really late, this is definitely your spot.

I went out with a group of friends, and it looked empty with the nine of us and one worker there. Everything was nice in the beginning. The worker showed us our room and told us how everything worked, like how the sound system works and what types of services they offer. The only time we called her into our karaoke booth was for a mic problem because we didn’t like the extra echo coming from the speaker. Again, that was the only time we called her in. I went to pay, and she added a gratuity payment. That was probably added because of our large group. Continuing on, she was kind of rude and looked like she didn’t want to be there, even though it is her job to help us. She was rude in her tone and the way she responded to me. If I asked for anything, she would first look at me in a way that felt like, “Why is she asking me this question?” and then respond—almost like she was side-eyeing me. Mind you, we ate out before coming, and the only service that was charged in the 20% gratuity payment was setting up the karaoke system and filling up four pitchers of water, which we only used about one-third of. I would have understood the gratuity payment if we had ordered food, but we didn’t order any food and barely drank the water. To add on, we didn’t even ask for the water. A 20% gratuity for a mic problem and filling up water is excessive and unreasonable. Other than that, the karaoke was fun.

This is a Korean restaurant; the restaurant is pretty much empty at 12 noon. Food is not that great either; that is why it is so quiet. We decided to try anyway. We ordered 3 dishes and they were so disappointed. Smoked pork bacon had no flavor at all and were fatty. The seafood soup was okay. Overall the dishes were not hot at all. We would not go back there again.

My companion and I were visiting Houston from out of town and found this karaoke place online while looking for something fun to do. We submitted a reservation request for two people at 9 PM through the website the day before. The reservation page clearly says that a staff member will contact you by phone or text to confirm the reservation. However, no one ever contacted us. When we arrived, a staff member asked if someone had called us earlier and we told him no. He then explained that weekend karaoke reservations require six or more people, but the website actually states five or more people, which was already confusing. One employee kindly tried to help and told us we could wait for the 10 PM slot, so we waited about an hour. When that time came, the manager told us that reservations under the required group size could not be accommodated after all. Shortly after that, employees mentioned that a party of eleven had canceled, meaning a room had opened up, but we were still asked to wait again. At that point we had already waited twice, so we decided to leave. Before leaving, one of the waitresses recommended another karaoke place called Hongdae, which we appreciated, but it was honestly surprising that an employee from this business suggested we go somewhere else because they couldn’t accommodate us. The biggest issue here seems to be the reservation system and communication. The form still allows smaller groups to submit requests even though the policy requires larger parties, and we were never contacted as the website says we would be. Situations like this waste customers’ time and create unnecessary confusion. We were genuinely excited to try this place while visiting Houston, so it was disappointing that the experience turned out this way. Hopefully management reviews the reservation process so future customers don’t run into the same situation.

I’m usually very lenient when it comes to restaurants and try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but I still think about how terrible my experience was at Soju 101. From the start, the younger woman who helped set my friend and me up with a karaoke room was extremely rude and seemed like she didn’t even want to be there. It took an abnormally long time to get us situated, and once we were seated, I asked a few simple questions and she acted visibly annoyed, even rolling her eyes. We weren’t being difficult at all — just asking normal questions you’d expect from first-time customers. The situation got much worse with the food. I’m Muslim, so I’m very careful about pork. I ordered fries that normally come with meat and very clearly emphasized that I wanted everything EXCEPT meat and absolutely no pork. When the order came out, I immediately noticed there was meat on it. I brought it back to her, and she looked at it and told me it was NOT meat and handed it back instead of simply offering to remake it. I tried to trust her and took a bite, only to realize it actually was pork. Religiously, that completely goes against what I follow, and what upset me most is that I had double-checked with her first. Even then, I stayed calm and polite, but the issue was never properly fixed. I wasn’t refunded, wasn’t given a replacement, and still had to pay full price. She also charged us extra fees and couldn’t even clearly explain what the extra charge was for. On top of that, there weren’t many songs or choices available in the karaoke system, so the experience didn’t feel worth it at all. The food was also extremely overpriced — especially for something as simple as an order of fries. Overall, the service was dismissive, careless, and incredibly disappointing. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are many better karaoke spots in the Chinatown / Bellaire area — for example, I’ve had great experiences at Happy Zone KTV and other nearby venues. Sadly, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had at a restaurant, and I won’t be returning.

Absolutely one of the worst spots in the area. 1. The food was mediocre, kimchi fries were seasoned and sauced up yet had 0 flavor. The bulgogi plate was just so flavorless, not to mention both me and my partner got food poisoning the next day. 2. The service: we reserved for 10pm karaoke room, just to be told at 9:50, that their staff messed up and gave our reservation to somebody else. We understood mistakes happen so we waited for 11. Another group comes in last minute and again, they try to give our slot away. At that point we were so upset and the only thing they did was give us $10 off our two hour appointment. 3. The karaoke room: a literal 59 degree room that has so many audio issues. We spent the first 20 minutes trying to connect to their laggy YouTube tv, along with the mics constantly going out. Staff came in a few times but the connection continued to stay poor. For $60/hr you’d expect everything ready to go. 0/10 experience, and would not recommend. Stay away!

This place is straight garbage. It’s painfully obvious the manager is basically NEVER there (maybe once a week), because the entire operation feels abandoned. It’s wildly overpriced for how bad everything is. The whole restaurant smells like gas/gasoline, to the point where it made me nauseous. Serving food in a place that smells like that is insane. The karaoke rooms are a joke—they feel like a rundown child’s playhouse. Everything is dirty and falling apart: tables are peeling, and the bench seat that were once orange are now black from wear and filth. They brag about new TVs, but half of them can’t even connect to the Wi-Fi, so good luck actually using them. And for a korean system, there’s barely any music, some of the songs don’t work which defeats the entire purpose of being there. I’ll say this: SERVICE itself isn’t the problem. it’s the management and owners fault. The kid working the bar was genuinely nice and did his best. But good service can’t save a place that’s this poorly maintained and mismanaged. Overall, this spot feels neglected, dirty, and not worth a single dollar. Do yourself a favor and go to OneShot Pocha instead

This was a pretty bad experience. Went on a Wednesday night, place wasn't very busy with only 1 couple eating. I called ahead and said I was 20 minutes away. Arrived and waited at the front to be seated for about 5 minutes. Ended up calling, took a good minute for the guy to answer, just to tell him I was waiting at the front be be seated. I went for the karaoke room, thinking since it was a dedicated karaoke room it would be nice. Well, it wasn't. Looked pretty beat up and the speakers kept doing the high pitch screeching randomly. The food was just okay. I asked for how much the rooms cost while on the phone, $30 was what I was told. I even saw the price for the karaoke rooms, it also said $30. So, I thought it was just $30 to get a room, well I was wrong. None of the signs tell you its $30 per hour... $30, per, hour. Unaware of the hourly rate, I stayed for 4 hours. No one came in and told me the hour was up and if I wanted to stay another hour. Definitely not going here again. No notification on the price sign that its per hour and no one coming in to check on us for 4 hours even when it was empty.

This place is a scam. Please explain to me why the girl on the phone says they don’t allow rooms for party of 6 or less. So we gathered a bigger group to come. We were there for 3 hours and got charged $200 for the room. I’m sorry but $50 x 3 is only 150 not 200… And service? Ha that doesn’t exist here.

I came in with a group to eat dinner with a group and sat at 2 different tables back to back. My table ordered first, and I pointed to the photos of the items we wanted to order. The waitress who took our order acknowledged everything as she wrote it down before I moved to the next photo item. Here are a few things that could have been better: 1. The steamed egg did not come out looking like the photo. We kindly asked the waitress to take it back, but there was some initial resistance from her. 2. We asked about the status of an item (beef intestine) and were met with an attitude from the waitress. She stated we never ordered it, but two of us at the table pointed at the photo when ordering. This was where her customer service would give the business 1 star because instead of taking any accountability or kindly apologizing for forgetting (it happens), she got frustrated with us and argued that we never ordered it. 3. Corn cheese was the first item we ordered, and it never came out until we asked another server. His response was a lot better than the waitress's and he handled the request politely. 4. We also placed an order for chicken wings, which didn’t arrive at our table. I'm going to assume it was combined with the other table, but we already told the waitress we have 2 separate tabs. 5. We asked for a side of kimchi and the waitress gave us a bowl of kimchi that also had rice grains inside… so it was either a used bowl from another table or it was never cleaned. That was kind of fowl.. 6. To wrap it all up, the AC was broken, so it was also really hot inside. This isn’t the first time I’ve been here and honestly, I didn’t like it the last time but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Customer service is everything, especially when there is conflict, there are always better ways to resolve it without attitudes.

We were looking forward to trying this place. We saw it on Tiktok. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant when we arrived at 4pm on a Sunday (maybe 3 other tables), yet our food took forever. When we got our "chicken" plates they were overcooked, dry and we couldn't tell what part of the chicken it actually was. Definitely cooked in "old" grease that desperately needed to be changed. The drinks ($9 ea.) were made by the host/waiter/table busser who seemed to be working alone. They were slightly tastier than WATER! Horrible!! He mentioned the bartender wouldn't arrive until 6:30pm??? That should have been our first clue. When we told someone about our food, they just said "sorry" and walked off. We spent over $60 for this low quality food and poor service. Oh yeah and our booth seats were ripped to shreds. Never again!
