5 star experience! Waited in line for 3 hours and the food was definitely worth the wait. The staff was welcoming and friendly and the place had some lawn chairs for customers to use, if needed. Everything was sold a la carte, by the pound (1/2 & 1/4 as well) Obviously the star of the show is the brisket, but the ribs and sausage are up there as well. I also HIGHLY recommend the Bread Pudding dessert. Overall, if you are a foodie or just a fan of Texas BBQ, you will not be disappointed. There is a reason Goldee’s remains a top 3 bbq joint in the entire state.
We got here around 9:50 on Saturday, and were in the line for approx 2.5 hrs. Overall, the waiting was totally worth it. The restaurant provided comfortable chairs so I just brought a book and sat there enjoying the beautiful weather. Staffs were very nice and generous on portion. My personal favorite was the brisket and pork ribs. Even the lean parts were beautifully cooked and extremely moist. Pork belly was also very impressive, still moist even after re-heating. Their banana pudding and mac&cheese were very rich and not overpowering. I wish I could have tried one of their Lao Sausages, but they ran out quickly. Hope I get a chance to try it someday. Beautiful experience overall!
I am a long time Dallas native, but I have never ventured out to Goldee's until yesterday. It was a little over an hour drive to get there, but so well worth it! I had planned to arrive there sooner, but didn't actually make it into the line until about 10:30. There was quite a line already, but I expected the wait. They even provide chairs for those that prefer to sit and wait rather than stand. Very nice perk. At around noon, my chance to enter the small quaint, bbq aroma filled building arrived! I took the time in line to read through the menu beforehand so I didn't bog down the line. Being inside was like being a kid being in line to ride the newest coaster at 6 Flags! It was so exciting! Once my time came, I ordered 2lb brisket, 6 sausage links, some pork ribs, mac'n'cheese, Carolina hash, banana pudding, and of course bread, onion, and pickles. Washed it down with another texas staple, Dr Pepper. Yes, a lot of food, I know, but I wanted to take some home to share with the fam. After check out, I found a picnic table outside so that I could finally sit and savor heaven. It was a beautiful day outside, which added to the wonderful experience at Goldee's. The brisket was super moist and succulent. I slapped some on the home made bread, added some sauce, onion, pickle, and just melted in decadence. So delicious! The pork ribs were also phenomenally mouth watering. Perfectly seasoned with a slight char on the outside and nice tender rib meat encased. I snagged each type of sausage, jalapeno cheese, house, and Lao. Each was very tasty and savory. Very tender and juicy and loaded with flavors! If I had to pick a favorite, I'd pick the jalapeno cheese, but I am partial to jalapeno and spice. I have never enjoyed protein as much as I did this day! As for the sides, the mac'n'cheese is a must try. This ain't your typical pasta dish. This was creamy, flavorful, and sinful. Very distince flavors included pepper and maybe some garlic. Not 100% sure on garlic, but it was fantastic! I also tried the Carolina hash. I wanted something never tried before, and this was it. It's new for me personally, and I enjoyed it, but not to the level of everything else. And finally, to end my bbq adventure for the day, I had enough space to try the banana pudding. O.M.G...it was absolutely scrumptious! The cinnamon flavor adds a new level, and it did not dissapoint at all. So, obviously I enjoyed the heck out of the food! How about the service? Everyone was super friendly and diligent! Staff was super busy on task and on point, but made everyone feel welcome and like friends. Water was provided complimentary which just adds to the wholesome goodness of the staff and service. There is inside and outside seating available. The parking lot is big, but most of it dirt, grass, and or gravel. So if it's been raining, could be a litte messy, otherwise parking is easy. Overall, I had a freakin fabulous experience at Goldee's! I will totally do this again one weekend! You should, too!
Worth the wait in line, even on a rainy day. We came around 1pm, waited for an hour but the owners always came out to give us an update of what sold out. We missed out on the sliced brisket, lamb rib, Lao sausage, mac and cheese, and bread pudding. We did have the elgin sausage, house sausage, jalapeño cheese sausage. Pork belly, waterfall pulled pork, chopped brisket, beef ribs, and tandoori turkey, and pulled pork spare ribs. Sides: Lemon Kale slaw, potato salad,South Carolina hash, and brisket beans. Dessert: Banana pudding We had a party of 7. We loved all the meat. Lemon Kale slaw was a delightful surprise, we bought extra to take home. It surprised us that there was banana pudding still left over bread pudding. You just cannot go wrong. We are full. Thank you Gentry, Rick, Lane, and Kim. I have missed the names of your cashier and slicers, but thank you to the entire crew. You made the wait and dining a pleasurable experience.
Was amazing. We came down from Canada to see family and saw videos about the place, so we had to come try it. We arrived 1 hour before opening, we were about 30th in line. After the place opened it took about another 30 minutes to get our food. We got brisket, pork ribs, garlic sausage, pork belly, mac & cheese, southern pork hash, and coleslaw. We went to a couple BBQ places this week; by far Goldee's meat was 1st place. Smokey and flavorful; didn't even try the sauce with it, no need for it. Sides; kids and wife loved the Mac & cheese. Coleslaw and has were also a hit, but my favorite was the hash. Finished it off with banana pudding and bread puddings. It was well worth the 1400 mile road trip. Might even go so far as to saw it is a better reason to come to Texas that seeing my family. I look forward to my next visit.
It was Goldee’s — honestly, what more needs to be said? This is one of those places you simply have to experience for yourself. No words can fully capture how incredible the food is. There’s a reason they’re so famous, and it’s absolutely well deserved. Every bite lived up to the hype and then some. I’m already looking forward to the day I get to come back.
I get it now. I grew up eating BBQ and such but this is insane. So damn good. Every single staff member was on point and really give a damn about their workplace and product. Amazing experience for us. Also I got to say hello to Zain... the creator owner of Sabar BBQ. You couldn't find a nicer fella. He and all the other Americans who are honoring Texas BBQ with their interpretation are true Americans. They remind us of who we all are in this journey. Goldees has always offered a home to diverse backgrounds and visions. For this reason they are still the number one BBQ in Texas. Thank you for what y'all do.
We’ve been on the hunt for some fantastic BBQ and our trip up to the Ft. Worth area presented the perfect opportunity! This place was fantastic! Some friends told us about it and we added it to the “must do” list for the trip. We tried the brisket, pork ribs, turkey, mac n’ cheese, kale slaw, potato salad, and bread pudding. Definitely recommend!
Worth the drive + wait, if you’re serious about bbq. We arrived ~10am and ordered at 12:40pm. A little before opening, a worker welcomed everyone in line and explained the menu for the day. Their menu does change (today they had mac and cheese instead of their cheesy grits!), so it’s helpful to check the board while in line to decide what to get. The line honestly moves pretty fast once they open doors at 11am. They try to get as many people in, giving you enough time to see and decide what you want. All the workers are super friendly, helpful, and quick. We saw one of the co-owners (recognized him from a Goldee’s youtube video) going around working and talking with people. Great people, great atmosphere. Okay on to the brisket and food- I genuinely forgot about the almost 3 hours of waiting once they gave us samples of the brisket. Super juicy, flavorful, smoky, and seasoned to perfection. Pork ribs were good, seasoned well. But what surprised me the most was the spicy garlic sausage that comes with sticky jasmine rice and sauce. Dip the sausage into the sauce and then take some of the rice- a burst of flavors, with the sauce and rice perfectly balancing the meat. A great thing about Goldees also, compared to other bbq places is that you can order as much or as little as you want (1/4, 1/2, or 3/4). It’s great esp if you want a little more or just a taste of something. A wait is expected, but if you’re willing, it’s 100% worth it. The only regret you might have is not trying all the menu items.
We ordered for 8 to go and enjoyed every bite. All around favorite was Beef Rib. We wished we ordered more because it was incredible! Definitely worth the wait for this eventful delicious BBQ. We arrived at 9:15 a.m. and got our food at 12:15 p.m. This was our order for 8: Beef Bisket 4 = 2 lbs Pork Ribs 5 Pork Belly .25 lb Smoked turkey .5 Beef Ribs 1 German potatoes med Brisket beans large Potato salad med Cheesy grits med
A must stop destination! Would highly recommend arriving early as the line will astound! Would even suggest pack a chair. But, It is very much worth the wait. We had a party of 9 and ordered a mix of items. Order at the counter and self seating. The brisket was a highlight! But was equally impressed with the ribs, smoked turkey, sausages.... make sure to get mix of the sides. I enjoyed it so much I regularly ship the seasonings back here in Pennsylvania to keep my pantry stocked with both the brisket and all purpose seasonings.
Goldee's has been on the list for almost a year now and we finally got here. We arrived at about 8:00 am on a Saturday morning and there was about 50 people in line. Be prepared to wait. They have a pile of old chairs that customers can use, so if you don't bring your own, there is that. Let's get to the food. It is the real deal. My son and I ordered a beef rib, 4 pork spare ribs, a pound of brisket, and a jalapeño cheddar sausage link. For sides, we ordered cheesy grits, beans, and potato salad. Outstanding! I thought the star of the show was the pork spare ribs ... fall off the bone, but with texture and the flavor popped. There was hint of cumin and it was salty and sweet. Delicious! I prefer the fat rendered out of my smoked meats as opposed to the wet fat. My son is the opposite. So, we were in heaven. Goldees gives you brisket that is half wet and half dry. I loved the dry end and my son loved the wet end. As for the sides ... the grits were tasty, and the beans were yummy. I dont eat potato salad, but my son said it was good. We also had the bread pudding and the banana pudding. Both were delicious. Goldee's is well worth the wait!!!
Everything on the menu is beyond great with the pork belly and beef ribs being sublime. The customer service was outstanding from the moment you step in the door until you are ready to roll out with your left overs. I appreciated the availability of lawn chairs to borrow for the wait in line. I arrived at 9:15 am on a Saturday and sat down with my food around 12:15 pm. There were approximately 60 people in line ahead of me if that helps anyone gauge the wait time.
Overall, worthy of its spot in the top 3 of Texas Monthly BBQ 2025 and definitely worth visiting once I didn't choose a flattering angle for the beef rib but the beef rib and brisket were probably the best I've had. Beef rib especially was a nice surprise since I'm usually not a fan. These were very moist not too salty and flavored just right. Brisket was perfectly moist and seasoned. It did not need any sauce but surprisingly the Goldee's bbq sauce actually enhanced and added a nice tangy counterpart to its BBQ. Turkey actually was a nice surprise also, very moist and good flavor profile too. Sausage was above average, I liked the snappy casing and smokey flavor. Pork belly was interesting but very fatty and hard to eat a lot of. Pork ribs were average, too salty for me and my wife. Sides wise we liked the kale slaw. I also like the South Carolina pork hash over rice and cheesy grits. The beans were good too, but my wife liked the beans at Hutchins better. We both liked the banana pudding. We got here 9:50am, it opened at 11am. We got to order around 12:05pm. From what I've tried in the DFW before this, I'd say Hutchins has been the best overall BBQ place. I haven't liked Cattleack as much since they changed owners and they also have limited hours. Overall, I would give Goldee's a win over Hutchins for the beef rib and brisket, but may still opt for Hutchins due to Goldee's wait time and limited hours. But definitely worth visiting Goldee's at least once!
Amazing delicious food, truly one of the best BBQ spots. The people are amazing too, very friendly. They gave us some sample bits after a long line which was really nice, it let’s know we were in for a treat and the wait was worth it. Just know you have to get there early. Get ready for the line, bring some picnic chairs, drinks, cards or board game to kill the time. Enjoy! 😋
Not from around here, but I was looking for some really good food and I came across this place online figured let’s go check it out. We drove 1.5 hrs to get here they were sold out of everything except their chopped beef sandwich, we were lowkey disappointed to hear this since it wasn’t what we came here for.. but then we tried the sandwich and that may have been the best sandwich I ever had in my whole life. Super soft and juicy meat that literally melted in my mouth but honestly the food wasn’t even the best part, the customer service by Joseph and Kim blew us away, they were so kind, patient, and made us have the best experience. Love this place! Will be making the drive again forsure!!
Brisket is amazing, but the ribs are are to die for. It's definitely worth showing up at 9am and waiting 2 1/2 hrs for. I'll be going back to try the beef ribs next. Everything I tried is delicious. Beans, slaw, all 3 sausages, pork belly, bread pudding, grits, and the bread. If all you know is Hard8, then you'll think it's a hard no after Goldees
worth the wait for sure. We arrived at 0920 and were sitting down with our food at 1220. So a three hour wait. if you’re planning on using the lawn chairs they have out front, be mindful of any rain that occurred the day before… our meal was incredible. Service was top notch. I’ll definitely return to try some of their other offerings!! Honestly best banana pudding and bread pudding I’ve ever had!! All the meats were so tender and moist. Show-stopping BBQ
Much has been said about Goldee's over the years, as people have traveled from all around the world to eat there. I'll say having been there twice now — it is worth the wait, but I wouldn't get in line at 6 am like some people. 8-9 ish AM has been okay for me (then eating around noon so about an hour after open). EVERYTHING I have had here or seen friends enjoy has been incredible. Their brisket is Creekstone supplied halal meat, and it is probably the best brisket you might ever eat if you keep to halal restrictions. Sabar BBQ run by Goldee's alumnus Zain Shafi is your other best option. Other meats have been reviewed really well by friends I've eaten with. The sides are all very very good as well, try the cheese grits that have a little kick of spice, and the potato salad that has a lot of herbs and greens. The large for 18 looked like over 2x the volume of the medium so it was worth it to have a lot of leftovers, even if it made my tray look a little funny. Banana pudding also good, hopefully I can come back and have the bread pudding sometime. Ample outdoor seating, inside is basically always full but you can find a spot outside pretty easy if you're willing to brave the weather depending on the time of year.
This is what Texas BBQ is all about. The line was so worth the wait. We enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone in line. We tried brisket, pork ribs, their special "hot gut" link, pork belly, lemon kale slaw, brisket beans and banana pudding. This comes with homemade bread, pickles and onions. The pork belly was the star of the show today and the pork ribs were a close second but everything was excellent. Our new "line" friends let us try the turkey (we don't usually try the turkey). It was moist and peppery. Goldee's definately must be on your list.

It's worth the wait. Honestly sides kinda mid, bread was whatever, brisket was okay, but one bite of the beef rib alone sets goldees as one of the most memorable bites of my life.

I came here to see what the #1 Texas Monthly BBQ joint had to offer and how it stands out from other spots. After trying a bit of everything, here’s my honest take: Overall, the food was good — but was a bit underwhelming as I felt it didn’t set itself apart as #1 from other BBQ spots. Given all the accolades and hype, I expected it to clearly stand above the competition, but it didn’t quite do that for me. The standout meats were the lamb ribs, turkey, and pork ribs. Those were exceptionally well-executed, packed with flavor, and extremely tender. The brisket was solid, but it didn’t fully meet the high expectations I came in with. I was hoping it would distinguish itself more, but I found it comparable to brisket from less-acclaimed spots. As for the sausage — particularly the Lao sausage — I expected a more traditional, bold flavor profile. Instead, it felt seasoned on the safer side and didn’t quite capture the authentic depth I was hoping for. I also wish there were more BBQ sauce options. There’s only one: a mustard-based, tangy sauce. While it’s good, it didn’t really elevate the barbecue for me. A sweeter, richer, more traditional sauce might better complement the meat and help balance the salty, peppery, fatty notes. All in all, it’s a good spot with some strong highlights, and I would recommend giving it a try. That said, considering the expectations I came in with, it was slightly underwhelming.
