Very quaint little restaurant with a lot of charm. The breakfast was fantastic as well as their service. Would recommend for anybody looking for a good breakfast place.
Great breakfast! Love the all meats omelette. Coffee was hot and mug stayed full—great service!
I'm staying at the hotel right behind Save Inn, so I decided to walk over and grab some breakfast this morning. At first I thought I had stumbled into a geriatric dining hall, since I was the youngest person eating there by about 20 years. That quickly faded as I was greeted by a wonderful server, who shortly after brought me the best cup of coffee I've had while traveling this past week. Everyone is extremely friendly, including the other customers who all seem to be regulars. It was like eating breakfast with the family! The food followed the theme set so far by the fantastic service and coffee. The smell of the biscuits was intoxicating, the pancakes were huge and very delicious, and the bacon was thick and smokey. If I didn't live several thousand miles away, this would be a regular spot for me.
Good and fresh down home cooking here. Comfort food that comes out hot and tasty and delivered with a smile. It's reasonably priced as well.
Always a great meal and at affordable prices! You never leave hungry!
Excellent restaurant. Food is great as well as portions being large. Service is very friendly and professional. Great atmosphere very clean and orderly.
Best breakfast in Kerrville! Be sure to bring your appetite. I was not ready for the size of the breakfast. Food was really good. Wait staff was very nice and accommodating.
I have yet to be disappointed with their food. I always try to order something new off the menu and it's good. Ordered the Gyro...hit the stop especially when I didn't know what I wanted! Tzatizi sauce looked homemade but it was delicious!!
I prefer small down home establishments. This one was fun. Really good breakfast at at extremely reasonable prices. Definitely on our "return to" list.
We enjoyed a lovely brunch time meal with traditional breakfast eggs, french toast, Mexican inspired breakfast fare and lamb n beef gyros, soup, salad and sandwiches, all served with a smile in an ol' time style diner.
This is a great downhome country cafe. All of the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food is great. I strongly recommend this restaurant if you want a great experience.
A friendly local place with good food and friendly staff. Enjoyed bacon and eggs with coffee. I would recommend this place for breakfast.
This is my favorite place in town for breakfast and lunch! Lisa and her staff always make you feel at home, the food is fantastic and is always fresh and homemade. It's just a great place.
Every time we go here, the food and service are great. Highly recommend.
Great wait staff that never let you see the bottom of your coffee cup! The food was delicious and very reasonable prices! Definitely coming back!!!
Love this place! Anytime I'm in the area, it's a must. I enjoy going on Wednesday's for the chicken fried steak lunch special. Great prices and the portions will actually fill you up. I've never had an issue with the service. The waitresses are all very friendly. I recommend for a quick bite on a lunch break.
Cute little place, super sweet staff, amazing delicious food. Great local restaurant. A must visit in Kerrville for local breakfast and lunch. No kids menu but my picky eater didn't disagree to the food which means an A+. Husband is also picky and enjoyed the flap Jack's. I had the oatmeal pancakes which did not disappoint!!!
This has become our go-to breakfast spot after church every Sunday. Great food, great service.
Been visiting thus place for more than 10 years now every time I'm in the area. Food is slways excellent, so is the service. Thank you once again.
When traveling we like to find the local restaurants with that small town, home cooking feel. This was definitely one of those places. The breakfast was great and they even got my bacon crispness right on the first try, which almost never happens. The only down side to this restaurant was the parking lot was a little small but the food made it absolutely worth any tiny inconvenience. If I'm in Kerrville again I will definitely eat here again!
We loved this place. You always look for a quiet local place with great service and really good food. You will love this place to. The food was really good and you help support the local business. My favorite part is the people who work there they treat you like your family. Give this place a try you will like it.
Wow I love this place! The food is always delicious and the ladies who work there are very nice and very good servers. The place is small, but has a bunch of tables. My favorite day is Tuesday, when they have roast beef. It is served with mashed potatoes and gravy, a vegetable of your choice, a dinner roll and a trip to the salad bar. Their breakfasts are great, too. My husband and I get the Huevos Rancheros, but everything is tasty. The prices are outstanding, too!
Had the chicken fried steak sandwich, a trip to salad bar and soup. My husband had a sausage omelet and my son had a cheeseburger. I can honestly say some of the best homemade food I haven't had to cook, that I've had. Loved it all. Even tried my son's fries and so totally awesome!
Always people friendly!!! Such friendly servant staff have always been there for us since I can remember. As a family, we always enjoy going there as they serve us lg hot bkfast w great service and taste! Always in time to refill coffee/water/softdrinks. Grateful to their great service and food.😊
Great service thanks to Lisa and Melanie!!! We ate breakfast there three Days in a row . Best breakfast I have ever had!!’ Lisa’s Breakfast Taco,,,, a must for chili pepper lovers!!! There is something very special about their chili sauce... Oh also the hot coffee is as good as it gets. Did I mention Blach Heavenly Berry Cobbler... Thanks Save Inn for taking care of us...
Save Inn is the perfect small town diner. I've lived in Kerrville all my life and have never been disappointed by this restaurant. The service is always wonderful and the staff is very friendly. Be aware of what time you go because this place can get very busy on the weekends! As someone who is allergic to most things I was surprised to find food I could eat at a diner. I got the chicken salad salad and it was amazing. Their ranch was the best ranch I've ever had, and the server was so kind in helping me find somthing that would fit my dietary needs!
I've been to this restaurant twice while visiting Kerrville and this has to be one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. It's a mom and pop place so the customer service and food are very good. I highly recommend this place. 😋
What a cool little local eatery. Service was great, food was great and has that home town atmosphere. Extra kudos to the waitstaff. Super friendly.
I have breakfast there once a week. The is really good, and the service is excellent. The wait staff are very friendly and always greet you when you come in. It almost feels like you're in an episode of Cheers.
This is such a great little place!!! They have a really good breakfast. One of these days I'll get around to trying lunch. Lol. Their fries look really good.
Stopped for breakfast. Food and service were very good. They added a $1 extra charged for any egg dish which is understandable given the current situation.
Special little place on the edge of Kerrville. It's small, homey, and serves good food. We went for breakfast this morning and had very good service
Best breakfast/lunch local eatery in Kerrville so far. To me it seems there's a problem cleaning grills in this town but here the food came out clean without burnt bits clinging to the food from a dirty grill, high praise! I had steak and eggs with really good crispy hash browns and toast and two plate filling pancakes which were also good. They have American and Mexican breakfast and standard diner type lunch. I will eat here again. They close at 2:00 pm. I went on a Sunday and had to wait about 10 min. I'm glad to see a busy local business so our locals can make good money. I gave a very generous tip, about 80%.
Really nice place we discovered for breakfast after many years of riding and staying in the area. Food is fresh and tasty, coffee is always full, and staff are friendly all at the right price! What more could you ask for. We will be back!
Food is always delicious, and the service is great. It's a family atmosphere, and my family has been coming here for about 25 years. The owners are hard workers, and they work right along with their employees to make sure everything is just right. I think I've tried almost everything on their menu. Everything is yummy! My favorites are any breakfast item (oatmeal pancakes, yum), breakfast tacos, They sell the best carnitas on the weekend for tacos and even in an omelet, and they have home made salsa. For lunch my favs are The club, The cajun shrimp po boy, any hamburger. Chicken fried steak, Chef salad, and Peppered Steak. I think your belly will be happy you ate here!
Good food, great service, great casual atmosphere.
Just plain great home cooked hearty meals at very affordable prices..Wished We lived closer as this would be a regular go to place. Staff were wonderful and efficient..Food Excellent.
I love this little hidden gem. I enjoyed a well-prepared standard eggs and biscuits breakfast that was delicious. The wait staff was friendly and competent. The prices were incredible and the diner-type atmosphere allowed for a pleasant conversation with friends. My friend and I went between the breakfast and lunch rushes and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food in such an unexpected spot. The only downside is that they are temporarily closed on Thursdays due to staff shortages, so be prepared.
A great spot to have a good breakfast at a reasonable price! Next time we’re in Kerrville we’ll definitely eat with them again!
Love this place. Great food. Great people.
One the best places to stop and eat, breakfast or lunch. They do get busy but fast and friendly service.
Loved it! Perfect small town diner! Had breakfast...too many good things to chose from! The four of us all had something different and it was all great! Going to try lunch next time! Iced tea was great! I rate iced tea in all my reviews!
Clean & quick service!! We had breakfast (biscuits with gravy, eggs & bacon). Three of us and it was good. Omelets looked good, hash browns were wonderful and coffee was hot. Nice , quiet and very reasonable prices!!! Will go again!
Wonderful little cafe! Great service and good was really good.
A small comfort restaurant, kind of hidden but visible from road if looking for it. A great variety of choices on the menu and food was excellent. Service was fantastic, antentive and well knowledgeable. An excellent place for a small business meeting, family get together or dining alone.
Food is good. Staff and prices are awesome though. You're not going to get anything crazy or unique here, but the wonderful staff and cheap meals are 100% worth it. 10/10 would recommend.
Randy is more than just a cook, he's a magician in the kitchen with the best wait staff in Kerrville 👍🏼
This place is just always wonderful and pleasant whenever we visit! The pancakes are great! Good place to have a cup of coffee and a breakfast plate in the morning! Staff is very nice and accommodating!
Great food and service! Would recommend for breakfast and lunch. Prices are reasonable for the food you get. Well worth it.
This place is the best. It is the go to. Just your classic hometown diner with great food and great people. We go quite often and it is always consistently awesome
Amazing and locally owned. Service is always perfect and great. Food is hot and delicious. High quality and reasonably priced. The fried okra is sooooo good. I go in about once or twice a month and Kristin is typically our waitress. She is so sweet and I have never ever had a negative experience with her taking care of us. Of course, all staff at Save Inn are amazing, but we have had Kristin more times than not and she feels more like a gal pal than a server. Love this atmosphere that makes it so much more family style.
Back to Save Inn again, 6/20/25, and again just the best place for Breakfast and lunch, for that matter, in this region. I had the "Sinker" omelet which has everything in it and a nice piece of wonderfully plain American cheese on top of it. Some complain that it has no cheese inside the omelet. Frankly, that would cover the taste of the meats and veggies contained therein. It is a great omelet; makes me drool thinking about it, lol. The hash browns were perfectly cooked and hot, as was the toast accompanying it all. The two waitresses are fast, friendly and right there with the coffee, great coffee, when needed. My meal was served by the owner for a nice touch. Nice gentleman. Maybe I am just being nostalgic, but this place warms my heart because I am a USAF retiree and many veterans and their families frequent this place. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it is not the prettiest place, but it is all I need. Thanks Save Inn, don't change a thing.
This is my favorite place to bring my grandkids for breakfast and lunch. The staff treats me and the kids like their own family. My grandkids are picky eaters, but never at your place. Thank you for going out of your way to make us all feel at home.❤️
Great little restaurant! One of those "hole in the wall" places that flies under the radar, but is definitely worth a visit. They serve a variety of dishes. Their breakfast options are very good. It has a nice country town atmosphere.
Good Little Breakfast Spot! I never Seen pancakes stay warm throughout the whole meal!! Delicous and fluffy!! Eggs Over Medium Cooked Just Right, Bacon not the best but good! The servers was nice, prompt service and food came out fast 💨💨😛😍😁!!! I seen ppl that either work there or are family with ppl there, two young men eating a beef French Dip Sandwich 🥪 !! Then i see a lady across from me eating the same!! Makes me wonder if that French Dip Sandwich is delicious!@👀👀😍😍😍😁🤣🤣🤔🤔 Come on down, definitely Recommend m!!
First breakfast place I've been to in many years that actually understands what crispy means in conjunction with hash browns. But as they resembled shoestring-style potato chips in retrospect I'll request medium well done next time. Perhaps I missed it on the menu but I didn't see waffles, only pancakes. The primary reason to come here was the unacceptably slow service at the IHOP. Save Inn service wasn't particularly fast but I didn't see tables seated after me eating when I was still waiting.
It's nice cafe for a quality meal. We had breakfast with a group of 8. My omelet was tasty.
The food was delicious and the wait staff friendly, but I do have a complaint. My complaint is that the toast has way way way too much butter. That was all I could taste when I bit into the toast. Other than that, the experience was great.
Ok 2 part review, if you're eating off the road, Save Inn is clean, edible food that won't betray you an hour later with road food regret. Thumbs up. If you live in Kerrville, it's one of the old standbys. That means it gives expected, moderately enjoyable food in an atmosphere that is also as expected.
Had the chicken fried steak with hash browns and eggs over easy. The chicken fried steak was good, gravy was ok, though could have had a bit more flavor. Hash browns were good though I prefer the crispy. These were not, but were properly prepared. Old school coffee was actually very good! Will definitely revisit again
Decent food quick friendly service, affordable prices.
What a great unassuming diner. Walk-in and seat yourself. Everything was piping hot, fresh and the salsa was so good my husband bought some for the road. It is set back off the road and you can almost miss it. I can see why so many of the locals reviews had such high praise. We would definitely stop here again on our travels.
Very pleasant atmosphere. I had the Spanish omelet which was a very, very, good Denver omelet. The coffee was really lacked pizzazz for that early morning wake up. The prices were very fair, and our waitress was over the top.
Great place for breakfast. Huge portions at a great price and super quick service. Very friendly staff. Handled our many substitutions too a tee. Will definitely stop again and highly recommend you do too.
Very good breakfast, I had the Vegetable Omelet. It did not have enough vegetables for me However I would go back. My husband ordered the Save Inn breakfast, he was very pleased. Helpings are generous.
This is a little diamond in the rough, if you like good home cooked food. It serves breakfast all day, plus has lunch service from burgers & sandwiches to full meals. Plentiful menu & friendly people - even the patrons!
Great restaurant, at least for breakfast, as that was where we ate breakfast for the last 3 days. Everyone in our group thought their food was excellent. I tried the daily breakfast special this last day and it was terrific. Service was outstanding everyday as well. Next time in Kerrville will definitely try other meals as well.
Had read about good deeds the owner had done so made a note to visit when a chance came up. Glad we did. Very quaint place with an old school feel. Very nice service with good food. Downside is no coke dispenser so coke is served in a can at almost $2. Just a quirk with me...I won't expand on the costs because it doesnt take away from this nice gem
Typical diner but very crowded, which says a lot. The food (breakfast) was just what we imagined. Hot, fresh, delicious and no frills! Just good hot and yummy! The decor is a little older but that makes you feel at home. We love our small town and supporting small, family owned places like this!!
Food was good and staff was pleasant.
First time here, after driving past it 1,000 times and noticing it's always busy. Stepped in for breakfast about 10 a.m.. I'm an old West Texas guy, and I tend to evaluate a restaurant on their "basics," like a good cup of coffee, eggs, or biscuits, etc. I ordered biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and a cup of black coffee. Positives and negatives: Place was clean and bright. All tables and chairs, no booths. Seat yourself. Tables were cleaned immediately when people finished. Price was good, lower than nearby places like Acapulco and the Branding Iron at YO (although they're both excellent). Service was great, nice servers, prompt food, good and hot. Hash browns were perfectly cooked. Just a little greasy, and slightly crispy on top. I ate every crumb. Coffee was weak, I could barely taste it. Like sipping a cup of hot water. Gravy was the BEST gravy I've ever had (and I've had some over the past 65 years). Thick, smooth and creamy. It'd be nice to have sausage in it, but it was still delicious. They were a little stingy with it; a couple of biscuits were barely halfway covered. When you put gravy over biscuits, they're supposed to be completely covered. Biscuits tasted good, but biscuits are supposed to be light and flaky; these were dry and tough, apparently leftover from yesterday or maybe even the day before. I had to lean forward with my weight on my fork to cut all the way through them. Overall, though, a positive place to eat. The omelets and pancakes at the next table looked terrific. I'll be back to try them!
Decent breakfast, extremely fair prices, good variety, excellent service. Local favorite. Not fancy. Small. We did not have to wait but it was late morning. Only open until 2 pm. Will try lunch menu next time we visit. During peak time, I would guess parking could be difficult.
Decent hearty breakfast, but nothing exceptional. I had the veggie omelette, and the veggies were tasty but not abundant. And the cheese was melted in two squares on top. Our server was excellent, though
Overall this was a mixed experience. Omlette was filled nicely, but too much oil on the grill for ensuring there was not a chance for sticking. The cheese on the Omlette (not inside) was a torn up slice of American cheese. Salsa and Pico were great, and made fresh in house. The hash browns were appropriately crispy as I ordered and the Biscuit! Oh my, my, my. Next time (there will be a next time) will be biscuits and gravy. I already made sure that I could get extra, on the plate of biscuits and gravy. My table was freshly and completely cleaned. No crumbs, no oil, it was great. A relaxed country diner vibe. Friendly staff, quick service, fair price. More than worth checking out a second time.
My wife had the roast beef special and I had the fish and chips. My wife said that she liked the roast beef but it was more like a pot roast and I liked the fish and chips. Nothing special but good. The interior, however, could use a serious update. The chairs are worn, the walls are worn and the floor is so bad that you have to sit along the wall because it's so soft that it bounces really bad when anyone walks by.
Not terrible, but not great. If you’re looking for a low-budget, mid-grade home style breakfast, then this place is for you.
3.5 stars. It's a diner in a place where there isn't much. Anyway, Ihop was closed so we landed at save inn. It was clean, quaint and was happy there was some where to share a meal with my son and his family before I headed home. Someone at our table didn't care for their pancakes and well, I've had my share and they didn't fall apart and were soft so they were fine in my opinion. We ate all our food as I remembered. Service could've been a little more attentive but it was not a bad experience. If I had to ear there again, I WOULD. NOW GO GET YOUR GRUB ON
Friendly place, your ol regular privately own restaurant. Doesn't look like much but it's just a regular American/Mexican breakfast/lunch place. They are very nice and will let you try certain dishes before you order. Family atmosphere, and have a lot of regulars coming in. I'll give it 3.5 stars.
Sadly the lack of serving staff resulted in a very long wait time. Most likely, the kitchen staff was also understaffed. The food was OK. The hostess tried her best, but all aspects resulted in an underwhelming experience. Perhaps when people return to work when government handouts ultimately have to stop, there will be an upturn. I was referred here because others experienced it as excellent. On my day, it wasn't prevalent.
I ordered basic breakfast, eggs scrambled with sausage, biscuit and potatoes. The eggs and potatoes were good, but the sausage and biscuit were pre-cooked, barely reheated and both dry. The server was friendly and prompt with service, so that was great. Another tip, they should offer real butter in addition to the fake stuff. WHO eats that anymore?
For years I have eaten here. Today i stopped for breakfast for breakfast with my son and best friend. Very disappointed with food plus (+) diarrhea exactly one hour after we left. Will be my last visit. I think the place has new owners now,
Oily eggs, oily hash browns, dry toast. Smallest BLT i have ever seen. Take it for what it is, a family ran budget restaurant. It serves its purpose but try the Rio Ranch Cafe if you want quality food
Being visitors to this area we noticed alot of cars here so figured must be good food so we stopped. Well, the service was great, the food was so-so (cold, small portions) the most disappointing part was the price for breakfast, party of 4, all seniors. 2 ladies hardly ate the 2 mens had omelets. 3 drinks....price $43 + $5 tip..$50 Way to much for a simple breakfast. Won't stop coming thru here next time.
Nice people but food did not taste good. My husband and I ordered pancakes and it tasted gummy and had a weird after taste. The orange juice tasted like one of those frozen cans from the grocery store that you mix with water. I did not finish my plate because it tasted bad. Also, in the middle of covid times, servers were not wearing masks or gloves and they were handling our plates of food. Although they had signs everywhere stating to be cautious because of covid. Makes no sense. I would not recommend. Cracked Barrel is down the road.
Called ahead and asked if they serve a chorizo plate and Lisa assured me they do. Then when i ordered the waitress stated they didn't serve a chorizo and egg plate at which time i explained that i had spoken with Lisa and she told me they did. So waitress took order of chorizo and eggs, hashbrowns and refried beans. Took quite a long time to be served. Food was ok but when we received the bill we noticed an extra $1.25 charge when we asked the waitress she stated that the egg and chorizo plate only has one side so they charged extra for the beans. So i asked why didn't she tell us that earlier when we ordered instead of saying they didn't even serve a chorizo plate. The waitress was very rude and had a sour attitude. Will NOT be returning!!!! Paid $9.50 for a chorizo and egg plate served with store bought tortillas! I have been a long time customer at Save Inn but now I see why Del Norte is rated #1 breakfast in Kerrville and Save Inn no longer is! Save your money and eat breakfast at Del Norte. I will be!!!!!!
Read reviews that this was a great place, however, felt customers services was lacking and maybe that why they were hiring. Food wasn't as home cooked as advertised got the #2 country breakfast pancakes were hard. Eggs and grits no seasoning. Bottom line I won't go back. Maybe you will have better luck or catch them on good day.
Nastiest breakfast I have ever had. 2 hockey pucks for sausage, ham was nasty, the scrambled egg was Gross. The pancake was good. 13 bucks for that garbage . Then to boot I thought I was at a Trump rally. Bunch of old rednecks complaining about Biden. I don't care either way. Don't want to hear that garbage while trying to digest my nasty breakfast. The skinny old waitress was very nice to the white folk. When she came to me , different story. The only nice person was a thin young blonde hair girl . She said hello and asked me if I needed anything. I didn't complain. Got the heck out of that uncomfortable place. I can just imagine the people that live there if based on what I saw. It was like in a movie in some little town where you walk in and everybody mad dogs you.
3-7-25. Stopped in for breakfast. Maybe 4-5 tables had customers. Waited probably 5 minutes before I saw a staff person. When a guy came out of the kitchen, he looked at me with no acknowledgment. Served a customer, then sat down at the table next to mine to visit with another customer. I apparently had become transparent…
Not sure who voted this Best in Kerrville, but going hungry would be better. Went for breakfast...place was decent enough, although parking an F350 isn't easiest. I ordered 2 eggs over easy, hashbrowns, sausage, biscuit with a bowl of gravy. Wife ordered an omelette, hasbrowns and a bowl of grits. Food came quickly...like less than 10 min after ordering. 1st thing I noticed, biscuit was not even warm. Gravy no flavor and barely warm. Sausage was like a hockey puck, just off the ice. DRY, HARD, NO FLAVOR, AND NOT EVEN WARM. It might have been cooked this WEEK....but not today. Hashbrowns ok, but barely warm.... Not sure how you can serve OE eggs that are decently cooked, but NOT HOT. Wife had order her hashbrowns crispy....be careful what you ask for...they were crispy....like potatoe sticks. She said her omelette was good, it had lots of ingredients. Now the grits...gracious sakes...like cool cornmeal soup. Not hot....not thick...and watery flavor. The worst day at Cracker Barrell or IHOP (both within 1 block) 10 X better than Save Inn. We prefer giving our $$s to small places in small towns....as opposed to the big national chains. That being said, I'm unwilling to eat less than decent food. Yes its lower price than Ihop or CB, but low cost and low quality means 1 thing....it SUCKS. Dont bother with Save Inn...heck Mc Dee's is a block away. Or don't get off I-10 and head on to San Antone. No pics...I wouldn't want to show how bad the sausage looked. Needless to say they got the last $$s that will ever be spent of mine at Save Inn.
Parking was so dangerous and they got our order wrong didn’t bring us silver ware or napkins and brought our food and still never brought silver ware or napkins didn’t compensate for getting our order wrong. Food was sub par and service was bad. 31$ for two people for regular breakfast plate, not a savings. I do not get the hype.
Ended up paying $25.93 for a relatively small meal (6oz steak + 6 eggs + hashbrowns). Got charged $2.25 per extra egg. Decent food but definitely not "excellent" prices, as another review stated.
