Opinions de Jack Ryan's Steak and Chophouse Kilgore
My recent visit to Jack Ryan's Steak and Chop House was a great experience from start to finish. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly by the host and shown to the bar while I waited for the rest of our party. They have a well-crafted cocktail menu, and I ordered the pecan Old Fashioned. It was exactly how I like it — a solid, well-balanced drink that let the quality of the bourbon shine without overcomplicating it. Once we were seated, our waiter was very knowledgeable about both the menu and the evening’s specials, which made ordering easy and enjoyable. On the recommendation of someone in our group who had been before, we started with the Brussels sprouts — and they absolutely lived up to the hype. For my entrée, I had the ribeye with a twice-baked potato and asparagus. The steak was cooked medium rare and prepared perfectly. The potato may have been slightly over-broiled, but it still had excellent flavor. The asparagus was cooked just right and seasoned nicely, complementing the steak well. To finish the meal, I had the crème brûlée, which was done exceptionally well and made for a great ending to the evening. Overall, I think this is a fine steakhouse with quality food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
All that can be said is WOW!!! They really knock it out of the park consistently! You are guaranteed great food and service 👌 If you have someone to impress or just want amazing food look no further Jack Ryan's has you covered! I Drive from Tyler and its always worth the time.
Brussel sprouts are excellent. I give it 5 stars for that alone. I'm not too big on their beef short ribs. I'd order something else next time.
Its weird to find fine dining in a small east tx. town, but there it is and its well done. This place is a testament to the worth of proper sourcing for ingredients. There isnt too much on the menu that is alien to this area, but the care in its preparation and the quality of the ingredients are definitely something you don't usually see, and what is strange for "round here" is delicious. It is obvious that the staff understand how special the restaurant is and they work to make sure their guests know it too. Id be proud to take anyone from anywhere to Jack Ryan's to show off what is possible with food in East Tx. On a personal note, they make a really good Old Fashioned.
This is my second time in this part of Texas for work, and my second time dining at this steakhouse—and once again, it did not disappoint. The New York strip was absolutely amazing—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. I finished the meal with the chocolate torte, which was rich, delicious, and the perfect ending. Big thanks to our server Dalton—he was a total gentleman and very attentive throughout the meal. Great food, great service—I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!
We hosted a customer celebration dinner here and it was great. They had a private room for us that was set up very nice including decorations for Christmas. Staff was attentive and took great care of us. The bar offered many options along with some really good appetizers which made for a wonderful start to the evening. Everyone enjoyed their food and the menu had many good options according to your tastes. Food was served as ordered and was well prepared.
::Update 1/5/23:: 100% excellent turnaround. Food was Primo top shelf, as was our service and server, blonde?! Every dish brought out in accordance drinks food deserts manners matter, and I highly recommend Jack Ryan's. My husband's birthday, terrible waiter he never offered refills or anything for that matter. Food came out extremely fast 2 minutes to cook a steak that was rubber. We won't waste our money there ever again. Taking my husband for a better meal tonight out of town.theyre lucky I gave two stars.
Great restaurant for being in a smaller town. The steaks were excellent. The appetizers (especially the Brussel spouts and lobster mac & cheese) were amazing. The only gripe was the pork chop. It was huge, but had the absolute strangest texture ever. It was like a meat sponge. Don't order that.
The food here is consistently great, especially for East Texas. After visiting a few times and trying most things on the menu I've been impressed with the quality and variety of dishes. Unfortunately the service has usually been a bit lacking on multiple occasions. The first time we visited the server didn't seem to know the answers to many basic questions about the food or even general questions (he didn't know what Port was). Our most recent visit I had told the hostess that it was our 10 year anniversary and asked if they could do something special. She said she would have complimentary champagne for us but when we arrived there was no champagne nor even a "happy anniversary". Also our waitress disappeared after bringing our desserts to go, and we had to go searching for someone to help us pay our tab after we waited for her for 15 minutes. These little details make for a less than ideal experience at a restaurant that aims for a fine dining feel.
I ordered my steak well done, it was still bleeding. Sent it back and it still came out under cooked. Well done- no pink left in middle. The sauce that came with it and the double baked potatoes was good. The asparagus wasn't fully cooked, not that I am a fan of it. And for $59 bucks that steak should have been cooked to perfection. Definitely will not return.
I have tired call them during business hours to make a reservation. I started 1/30 called 3 time. Twice I got a busy tone and once was instructed to leave a voicemail. 1/31 called 3 times all 3 busy tone. 2/2 called only once and left a voicemail and they never returned my call. 2/3 called 4 times during business house (from 7pm-9pm) and still busy tone or leave a voicemail. 2/4 called 4 times between 6pm and 7 pm. FINALLY someone answered. I requested a reservation for a certain day and without hesitation he said they were booked. There is no way he knows that fast there was nothing available for that time. We eat there all the time and we have noticed the decline but we chalked it up to “just a bad day” but the decline has been consistent. We will never be back.
I’ve tried to dine at this restaurant several times now, and unfortunately I’ve never once been able to actually sit down and eat. Each time I’ve called ahead, I’ve been told, “We don’t take reservations, but just come in and we’ll see what we can do.” Then I arrive—only to be turned away again because they’re “too full,” even when there are clearly open tables and not even a spot available at the bar. At this point it’s happened about five times. It’s extremely frustrating to want to support a nice local place but never be accommodated, especially after being encouraged to come in. If walk-ins are unlikely to be seated, it would be much more helpful to say so upfront. I genuinely wish the experience matched the reputation, but the inconsistency has made it impossible to actually enjoy a meal here.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed. My boyfriend is a truck driver and we were stopped at a TA nearby. I came across this place because of the reviews and decided to check it out. As soon as we get in we were met by strange stares. We tell the hostess we want a table for two. She walks off and comes back and says that they are completely booked. I said well the bar is completely empty, we can sit there. She then tells me the bar has been booked and because of "inventory" she can't sit us. I guess our brown skin didn't fit the scheme. She didn't even offer a wait time...it was just a flat no. I took pictures of the women we spoke with and how empty the place was...we arrive @ 7:15pm
