I’ve been here three times and my food has been amazing every time. The atmosphere seems lighthearted and the staff was nice. I got my food fairly quick. Traveling from Houston and now I have a place I can recommend when I go back.

Solo lunch at the bar while in town for a visit. Had the ribeye and loaded mashed. Ribeye was very good and grilled to perfection. No steak sauce needed and I'm an A-1 junkie. Clean, fun, open atmosphere. Lots of TV's to catch you favorite sports. Wait staff was top notch. Will definitely return when in town.

The service is great and the customers are great good place to take family

It has been more than a decade since we visited because we are seldom in the area with time enough to enjoy a meal. A lot has changed, but the quality of the food was as good or better than we remembered. Super-friendly staff made us feel comfortable and took great care of us. Hopefully, we can visit again before the next 10+ years pass.

This is a very nice restaurant ESPECIALLY if your looking for entertainment. They have a few indoor activities, bar, stage (live music), big screen tvs everywhere, friendly staff and good "made to order" food. Will definitely be back and maybe this time I won't get full off of hushpuppies and salad.

We usually come eat here for lunch. There is not a wait when we usually come but it does get busy at lunch. At night they often have music events on weekends. Follow them on social media to know who will be there when. I feel they could do a better job promoting their live music. The food is always good and hot. My favorite items are the chipotle crispy wrap, the chicken quesadilla, and the mushroom Swiss burger. The sliders are good also. They have some good salads also. Their fries are good and potato chips are made in house. Along with the hush puppies. It’s really all good. The staff is always friendly. They have recently renovated but the food and staff remain consistent. The porch is now enclosed and has corn hole and ladder ball and turf grass. They have multiple screens so you won’t miss your game. And a huge bar with whatever your beverage of choice might be - mine is water. If it’s been awhile since you last visited go check them out, and if you’ve never been here is your reason to go.

I had the pleasure of recently eating at this remarkable spot. The service was excellent and the food is amazing. I had the fried fish, homemade fries and salad. This has got to be the best fried catfish meal I have ever eaten. So, five stars to the kitchen staff. Their execution of the frying process is incredible. Plus, the fried green tomatoes and the potato skins are killer great too.

This is a great place to eat. It is an interesting place. It is divided into three sections. One part caters to kids and kids at heart. The middle section is the bar with all kinds of TVs. The third part is a quieter section where you can actually talk to each other and be heard. The menu is varied and really good. Service is excellent also. You can't go wrong with this place. Been here many times. This is a local legend. Free beans and hush puppies with meals. Known for hamburgers but has a full menu. Live bands and a homey kid friendly atmosphere. The back porch part has a beautiful bar and stage area.

This is a very popular spot in Kilgore and I can see why. Lots of TVs, plenty of room for the bands, good food that is not overpriced and some freebies. They had beans and hushpuppies tonight. I gotta say the beans were great, lots of flavor and a touch of heat. I would love to come back on the weekends when a band is on stage.

A friend and I made a day trip to the Oil Museum and decided to have lunch here. The service was quick and efficient and the food was very tasty. There's an extensive menu. We both had the club sandwich and fries. Will def be my go to when in the area!

Very nice, rustic-like atmosphere. Had their Jackie Dog, described as: "Two gourmet-sized hot dogs buried in melted shredded cheese, smothered with chili, mustard, jalapenos, and grilled onions.". It was decent but the "smothered with chili" was less than accurate with very little chili present. Overall very good meal though.

I was with my daughter and her soon to be husband as well meeting his mom and other family members, I'm not ever really really nervous, but that night I was, but walking into The Back Porch in Kilgore,Tx almost immediately put me to ease, there's big projecter screens, flat-screens, everyone in a relaxing mode, the vibes was positive, and there's corn hole 🕳 for kids and really whoever as well as other lil games for the kids, the staff are awesome and the food is very very good, if you're in that area, do yourself a favor and go, not to bad on cost either. I'll definitely go again whenever I'm back in that area.

To the best of my knowledge, The original Back Porch was bought out by Jucy's Hamburgers a while back, and while I miss the cornbread logs, everything else has benefited from the buy out. The food quality was improved and a general face lift has given the old Back Porch a new lease on life. I go here a lot and recommend it.

The food is not fancy but it’s made with skill and good ingredients. The focus is on Texas favorites like chicken fried steak. They also have a great selection of draft beers and excellent hush puppies. I really enjoyed my meal. I was there on a quiet weeknight. Apparently it can get pretty festive on the weekends.

We wandered in to the Back Porch after a visit to the East Texas Oil Museum. Our waitress, Nicole, advised us of some of the favorites. We settled on Fried Green Tomatoes (so crispy! Served with ranch) Homemade Potato Chips with Cheese Rotel (who doesn’t love hot fresh chips?) Smoke Burger with Sweet Potato Waffle Fries (love, love that Smokey flavor; added salt to the fries which were delicious!) Bacon Cheeseburger with Curly Fries (mustard all the way, and crispy well-seasoned fries)! Everything was well worth the drive.

Stopped in a couple times while I was in town for a class at the College. Had the farmhouse burger the first time, and the chicken fried steak the second. The farmhouse burger was good. Everyone is very friendly but both times the service was slow and something was wrong with the order. This may not be normal for them but it is all I have experienced. probably one of the best places in Kilgore to eat. they've remodeled the inside to put a lot more emphasis on their bar/live music area. luckily, if youre like me, they kept the normal dinning area intact. it's just kind of pain to get to if youre handicap. there's plenty of tvs to keep your interest, so you dont have to look at all the wood paneling everywhere or talk to your family as much. plus, all the free beans you can eat!

Food is good but the service needs lots of work

Sort of like a local Chili's, this place was really nothing special. The Frozen Margarita machine was broken, the on-the-rocks margarita was super sub-par (and the waitress didn't know what it cost as there was no price on the menu), the Chef salad had no eggs, and the extra avacado that the menu said was $.99 was $1.99. Was the salad good? It was fine. Am I coming back? Nope.

My son ordered a steak they were out of steak. My fries were cold. When we walked in the host were bickering and seated us when they were done having their moment. Our waitress was sweet. 🤷‍♀️ a lot of hype for this place. It was quite the let down for my family.

First time trying and probably won’t be back. Food was mediocre. I had Luke’s kickin chicken~chicken breast was moist, but the taste wasn’t nothing extra, onions/mushrooms barely touched the grill. Looked and tasted more like they just placed on the chicken to absorb some of heat. Mashed potatoes were fair, side salad was ok. The BP Club~ bread was limp and soggy, looked to be toasted with too much butter , fries were drowning in grease. Overall, not a good experience food wise. Maybe just came on a off day

The ribeye was great. The onion straws were good too. Stay away from their chicken. The Luke's grilled chicken breast wasn't even a chicken breast it was a tenderloin that they beat flat to maybe 1/4 inch thick and overcooked. The sauteed onions and mushrooms is half a lie. It's sauted onions and CANNED mushrooms dumped on top. The chicken tenders basket consisted of soggy home cut fries and flavorless chicken strips with just salt and pepper. Despite me not eating my meal and letting the staff know the Luke's Chicken was gross and not what was expected, they still charged full price for something that wasn't eaten. We probably will not be back.

Only go if you have unlimited time. Food was ok, service was terrible. After I was seated, it took about 15 minutes before I was able to place my order. When I was ready to leave and asked for my check and a to go box, after 15 minutes my server still had not returned. Tried to cash out at the bar. Was told server, who was no where to be found, had to cash me out. HORRIBLE SERVICE

Ate here last night and had an amazing server. She was attentive, friendly, and kept my iced tea topped off. My friend had catfish, fries, and hush puppies that were amazing. I had a chipotle grilled chicken wrap and sweet potato fries. About an hour after eating, I had a bad stomach reaction and spent the rest of the evening and most of the night on the toilet. Two immodium didn't stop the problem and two more this morning haven't either. The chicken wrap and sweet potato fries tasted good, but something there got me as if I was taking colonoscopy prep! Another guy in a class we are taking in Kilgore had a similar experience last night after eating chicken here. This may be a one time fluke, but I'm not willing to risk it ever again.

The service is poor. I ordered chips and queso and fried green tomatoes it took an hour to get them and had to ask for them twice. Was told the kitchen messed it up. The server was way to busy flirting with some guy to serve our table so I’m pretty sure the food just sat back there. We ended up just going to the bar to get our own drinks. However the band was fantastic. Sweet Pain is a must see. But see them somewhere else if you want decent servic or make sure Kate isn’t your server.

I am extremely upset and somewhat humiliated. I’m in town for a work trip. I sat down with my husband and baby. We were seated and waited for 20-25 minutes and no one ever came to even take our drink order. It’s like we were invisible. We eventually just grabbed our belongings and walked out… no one even bothered to speak to us as we walked out. Guess they didn’t want our business?? I’d hate to feel like my skin color is the reason for this treatment but it definitely fits the narrative of what I’ve been told about Kilgore. The restaurant was NOT crowded and we definitely saw other people who came in after us being served.

This place started off bad in my eyes when they questioned me having a service dog not once or twice, but 3 times. Even got to the point where they asked me what was wrong with me to need a service dog. Complete violation right off the bat. He had his credentials and tag on him in plain sight. We were there for 2.5 hours and waited on four orders for our party. Our entire table didn’t even get their food together. It all came out in plates of 1-2 and 10-15 min apart. Waitress kept blaming it on the kitchen. But, tables that were just sat were getting their food. Customer service was horrible. My first and last time to go to this place. It would have been worth my time and money to just drive an extra 40 min to Tyler to eat. I got the chicken and it was thin and dry. Only reason I am giving the food 2 ⭐️ is because the sweet potato fries were good.

Whoooooo, let me tell you what!!! This place is absurd. It's my buddy and I sitting here drinking beer watching the Houston v Dallas game. He orders a custom burger and I get the Texas Toothpicks. The food takes a while but it's okay, they have some cutie college girls walking around; a double edged sword though. I'm guessing the kitchen staff is distracted because here comes the good part... the food comes out and the burger isnt a double patty and no barbecue sauce. The waitress brings some "barbecue sauce" which turned out to be chicken marinade. She takes the partially eaten burger to the kitchen and 15 minutes later comes a new patty and the same half eaten burger so he can fix it himself! Oh, and it's Sunday so theres no manager on duty. If a new burger came out it would've been double charged. The waitress claimed there's no way to get ahold of a manager. My, oh, my how this place has developed. I guess stiff arming patrons is how they expanded their dining area so large.

Do not eat at this restaurant if you value your checking account debit card to be skimmed and sold on the black market. The waitress took forever to get my card back to me thus I know the shimming. That’s both times I’ve been to this establishment. First and last. I’ll be telling everyone don’t eat here

Ordered jalapeño with cream cheese and bacon payed 23$ and didn't even come with cream cheese waited more than 20 min in the window after already placing order on the phone young girls didn't even go to the window to ask if I had a order and then the one that went and asked me if I had placed a order was very rude and yelling cause I told her I had placed a order of 2 not 1 got very disturbed cause I told her I wanted my second order as well

Fries were cold and my fish was mushy. Service was good but the food definitely wasn't . Will not be going back

Me and my husband came for the first time 10/20/24 at lunch time and was very disappointed it took along time to get my fried green tomatoes, the food we got was very bland no flavor at all very disappointing:(

Had to wait forever for our food. When we got our food it was burned and barely edible. Not worth the $50 we paid.

After years of going there to dance..It's over. New owners have destroyed the experience for music lovers. Who ever heard if country music live but hell no ti dancing. I will not be going back ever again. I highly suggest that if you enjoy country dancing,do not go there. It's not the same,it's pathetic and a waste of time. Kilgore just dropped a huge notch on the entertainment end. Good riddance to the back shack in the back Crack. 👎👎

DONT DOORDASH!!!! 1 out of 10 orders will be correct … I use DoorDash for convenience and it truly has been a blessing , but ends up so frustrating when there are few restaurants to choose from and when you use one with the food choices you like , they can’t get the order correct . Leaving out a complete meal is un acceptable and you end up having to go pick up food anyways …they are hurting the individuals relying on door dash as an income …
