This place is a hidden gem. Their food is absolutely delicious and I always enjoy myself when I'm there. The service was exceptional my only draw back is the atmosphere, they could update some of the interior like the seating and the decor. Doesn't keep me from enjoying myself however and again the food is to amazing, try the oysters and thank me later.

The GZone's Review of Hook & Reel on 3110 E Central Texas Expy, Killeen, TX 76543: During a recent trip to Austin, TX, my friend and I decided to stop by Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar in Killeen, and overall, it was a pretty solid experience. Our Host & Server, LB, made the evening enjoyable with excellent recommendations and her knowledge of the menu. I ordered the Fried Shrimp and Oyster Basket paired with French fries, while my dining companion chose a Crab Seafood Boil. The flavors were well-executed, with seasoning that hit the spot. While the shrimp was slightly chewy, the overall taste made up for it. The atmosphere was decent, though the lighting on our side of the restaurant felt a bit dark, which could use some improvement. The location is easy to access with plenty of parking, though I would note that the setup, with the bar at the center, makes it less kid-friendly. Under our table, it was a hot mess, spills, food, trash, just ... not very clean. The window blinds were full of dust and seemed not clean as well. The atmosphere of the place was okay. Was not impressed with the quality of service we had here. My party went for lunch in a Tuesday (wasn’t that busy). Poor communication, drinks ran out, one of our party members asked for lemons for their boil and for their water, only to be told initially they don’t have any. Then, when the food came out they had lemons on the plate of oysters. We were confused and asked again for lemons from our waitress, she said the lemons were only for main courses. I don’t understand the reasoning behind this, but don’t lie to a customer and say you don’t have any. We asked another server walking by and she actually got us some lemons, no questions asked. Could be some miscommunication with management or something. The quality of food was decent. Mozzarella sticks were great. The oysters were a bit over cooked. The Boils we got were amazing. Highly recommend. Overall, great food but not a good experience with customer service.

Went to this place with my boss. Luckily, he paid cause this place is not good. The po'boys we ordered were doused in sauce and very little shrimp and fish. We also ordered the fried calamari but it was overcooked and rubbery. Staff was friendly but when time came to pay, our waitress could not be found so someone else had to charge us. Music was loud and kinda inappropriate with baby making R&B songs blasting.

I ordered catfish from Hook & Reel through Uber Eats, and the food was completely unacceptable. The catfish was fried extremely hard on the outside but raw on the inside, which is a serious food safety issue. When I called the restaurant, I was told I would need to come back either at 5 PM or 11 AM the next day for a refund. I explained that I wasn’t even looking for a refund, I simply wanted my food cooked correctly. I asked if I could bring the food back to exchange it. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was met with a terrible attitude instead of any concern or professionalism. No apology, no accountability, just rude behavior. Between receiving undercooked food and being treated poorly when trying to resolve the issue, this was a very disappointing experience. I will not be ordering from here again.

★☆☆☆☆ – Worst Experience I’ve Ever Had at Hook & Reel My family and I have been coming to Hook & Reel for over a year, but after our most recent visit, we won’t be back. We were a party of seven with two kids, which meant an automatic 18% service charge. That’s fine—if we’re actually seated together and properly served. Instead, the hostess told us that because of the size of our party, we could sit in another section without a server and that we would have to sit at different tables. I agreed to sit separately, but told them I would not pay the 18% service charge since we were not being seated as an actual group. When I asked the server, Victoria, to seat us like every other customer, she caught an attitude and acted as if we were inconveniencing her. I then asked to speak with Gregory Leguarre, the manager we’ve known for over a year. She told me he wasn’t there. I asked to speak with the manager who was present, and she responded that it “wouldn’t make a difference” because he would tell me the same thing. Completely unprofessional. Between the disrespectful attitude, the refusal to seat us properly, and the dismissive way they handled the situation, this was hands-down the worst experience we’ve ever had at this restaurant. The hostess and staff showed zero customer service skills, and it’s disappointing to see how far the place has fallen. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend Hook & Reel to anyone who expects to be treated fairly or respectfully.

It has flies, we have enjoyed the discovery of two flies in the food really bad for the first time my experience. I have never evaluated the low low food because I respect the food if we are bad we do not evaluate. But there are flies in the food that I refuse to enjoy the second time, I will never come back😵🤢🤮🫨
