The dry rub on the fried chicken was nothing short of wizardry and now I'm cursed with the knowledge of the perfect meal. Side of fried okra and fried brussels sprouts - incredible. Went back for seconds the very next day. Secret ingredient was definitely love ✌️
Jennifer Great service ! Biscuits yummy ! Flat iron steak with smoky black pepper sauce tasty ! Potatoes crisp - roasted Brussels very flavorful! Don’t peach my vibe cocktail light fruity - my fiend enjoyed the whiskey old fashion flight ! Very pleasant relaxing experience! Next time fried chicken !
While visiting Tennessee we stopped in here for dinner, and tried fried green tomatoes for the first time! So so good!! I wish these were sold everywhere! We also good the fried chicken which had a “bee sting” seasoning on it, and it was perfectly spicy and kind of sweet and savory all at the same time.
Really delicious food! Not too many people on a Monday evening. The food came fast and with mouth-watering flavor from start to finish. I tried the fried green tomatoes, and the sweet & spicy chicken and waffles. The crispy crunch and creamy grits balanced the acidity of the tomatoes amazingly. The combo of the sweet syrup and mildly spicy sauce for the chicken and waffles was also perfect. Highly recommend and would definitely return for another memorable meal!
My mother and I arrived at Tupelo Honey slightly tipsy from our adventures at Alice and Appalachia (see my review for them). We were greeted by the absolute sunshine. A young woman with unnaturally colored yellow hair and guillotine necklace (I loved). She was just the sweetest kid. Anyway, first impression was awesome, we got seated and had a lovely server whose name I cannot remember but kind of looks like that Chef from the Bear show. Anyway, GREAT dinner. We didn't order apps or dessert but what we had we loved. Service was fast and we inhaled as we are the kind of ladies who Hoover our food when slightly tipsy. Just a wonderful time. Downtown was lovely and we walked everywhere. I didn't want to like this place as much as I did. Chains are usually not that great. Tupelo Honey is an exception to that rule. We will be back sometime soon!!!
I know this is a chain which is not my usual choice, but Tupelo Honey did not disappoint. The fried pickles were thin and crispy and ohhh so great. The Mayo Magi was served in a cast iron skillet so it stayed warm. The flavors were perfect, texture delicious. The rosemary crusted potatoes are a must try and the brussel sprouts were actually crispy….. and sinfully delicious. The Mindful Martinis were a surprisingly refreshing choice, We had to have 2!!! Location was perfect. It is right in the market district so if weather permits seatong outside allows for such a wonderful dining experience.
Food was super good. I got the sweet and spicy chicken & waffles and it was perfect! It came with a lot of chicken that was fried to perfection and very crispy. The waffles were fluffy and delicious. Whatever spicy siracha honey was on them was the perfect blend of sweet and flavorful. It wasn't actually that spicy at all though. Service was good and the location is super cool. I will say though, the tables were a little too close together for my liking and the restaurant was loud, making conversations difficult. Would recommend!
We tried the chicken and waffles, grilled chicken, and an omelet—everything was tasty, and the potatoes were especially good. It was busy when we arrived, but the wait wasn’t bad and service was still solid. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.
I loved the food and the atmosphere! I got a chickensalad sandwich with bacon collards. My daughter loved her burger. I ordered pimento queso with chips and fried pickles for appetizers. We got to see someone get proposed to there!
Large portions for the price. Really good grits. The bartender was nice and friendly.
Food was amazing and I thought well priced considering the atmosphere and theme. It was around 56$ for two people with 2 apps.
It was our first time here and the food was incredible! Flavorful and so yummy! The staff was fantastic. I can definitely see why this place has no less than an hour wait. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time! I had the chicken and biscuits. We will definitely be back. Already planning our next girls trip
This place is amazing! Emily was our server and she was so descriptive we felt we were almost tasting the options as she described them. I posted a review but for some reason it isn't here, so I will try to recall everything... pumpkin soup - yes and yes (we ordered a bowl to take home for later even...it is THAT GOOD!) Mountain Bowl - very good (hubby and I split) and i love the green tomato salsa...nice touch on flavor there! Green tomatoes - thank you for allowing me to enjoy WITHOUT putting a sauce on top...grits underneath...and, yes...I dreamed about them to the point that we are going back again!! LOL
Excellent menu makes it hard to choose, friendly and smart service staff, was in Knoxville Tennessee on business and basically just found this gem, downtown on Market. Plenty of parking in the area. I had the Shrimp and grits a great choice, and the others in my party enjoyed their meal as well
One of our favorite restaurants on Market Square! We ordered the Hot Mac N Cheese Chicken & Waffle, Meatloaf, Brussels sprouts and Fried Green tomatoes. All were great, although some small feedback on the Meatloaf. The meatloaf was very moist and flavorful however some that I personally am use to would have some sort of crisp or more of a crunch typically on the top, I feel it was only missing that but completely understanding if that’s not the style this meatloaf was going for! Our server was sweet and wonderful who made great recommendations! A must try if you are in the area!
We got the shrimp and grits. It was so savory and delicious. So much flavor. I also had the Blueberry lemon drop mimosa. It tasted like a blueberry lemonade
One of our favorite places to eat, a great brunch spot but don’t skip on Dinner. Great homemade southern food. Our waiter Clint was the highlight of our meal, he was awesome. My cast iron pork was some of the best pork I’ve ever had, great location, quality and ambiance. Try it!
The first restaurant I ate at in Knoxville. Go in the afternoon during their Happy Hour for discounted food. The restaurant looks great. Food is good. Love the unlimited sweet tea 😋 First time trying it. It was my first time trying fried pickles and it was really good. I don't usually eat pickles but I love that.
The food and service here were excellent! We got the dark meat fried chicken with a peppercorn sauce, crispy brussels sprouts, pork chop slow cooked in duck fat, and bacon collard greens. The portions are just right and the food is healthy! The ambiance was nice too with the large windows and natural light. We would go back :)
This restaurant was awesome! Food was amazing, our waitress was super friendly and always on top of things. I never once had to ask for a refill. Food was delicious with good portion sizes. Be careful when the food comes out because the plates are hot!
Service...YES! They even told us where to park to save $ as we had never been here before! Thank you for Market Place parking! We had Emily who made suggestions and gave you the "why" to each....i love it when there is a why and a taste description. Where do we start? Pumpkin bisque...OFF THE DANG CHARTS! Order the bowl and take some home!!! Hands down perfectly made and I love the topping (nice choice to compliment the beautiful flavor without distracting from it's yumminess!!). Then we ordered the fried green tomatoes. First...THANK YOU FOR NO SAUCE ON TOP! It sits on top of this amazing grit pile that is surrounded by a perfectly flavored sauce. I lobe that I COULD DIP OR COVER my tomatoes but the kitten allowed me to just enjoy the fried tomato without covering it! Ps...it was amazing both ways! Then we got the Morning bowl...have mercy on those taste buds....and let eat bite float over your tounge!! Hubby is a French toast freak but these flavors and combinations have us both swooning. We will be back to work through the other options on the menu.... Do yourself a favor and just go here 1st!! Amazing and creative options!! WELL DONE!
This is a highlight in downtown knoxville. Food was fresh and served in a timely manner. The portions were perfect for the plate. The flavors were good. Love the stone grind grits. The server was prompt, nice, and attentive. Prepare for a wait time and ensure you have warm clothing in the winter months (no waiting area). They do offer a military incentive upon request.
We had brunch here on Sunday around 1! The food is incredible and it’s always a very good ambiance. Great staff. I HIGHLY recommend the blueberry cold brew! It’s the best cold brew i’ve ever had!
We had a 1:00 reservation for brunch and were seated right on time. It was busy but not crowded or too loud. The food was all tasty and fresh. The coffee could be a little stronger but everything else was done really well. Recommend the fried green tomatoes served on goat cheese grits, so delicious!
Highly recommend doing a reservation, they seated us even though we were a little early. The food was FANTASTIC, TERRIFIC, GREAT! Definitely recommend the chicken and waffles, the biscuits (we got 2 orders), the fried pickles, and lowkey anything on the menu lol. The service was also pretty great. Our server was super sweet and attentive. The ambiance is bright, airy, and it gives country vibes.
Great fun in a great city! 🏙️ Everything was like home-cooking Southern style in a hip chain restaurant. Our service was awesome. Thanks Erin! We loved the gumbo and fried chicken offerings and enjoyed the banana 🍌 pudding as a finial. Lighting was perfect. Fun place, good food and great location In historic Knoxville Market Square. #mmm
Very good meal, everything they we ate was great. Our server Deshawn was great.
Amazing food! Everything we ordered tasted great. I was so impressed I also tipped out the kitchen! Special shout out to our server Ash. She was great and very helpful in sharing her favorite meals. Also, as a person who must have hot, burn your mouth food delivered to the table, have to give appreciation to the dedicated food expediter / runners. Their prompt delivery of food from the kitchen was perfect. Will be back very soon. Try this place, you will not be sorry.
Delicious! This place executes southern food so well. My shrimp and grits were wonderfully seasoned but not overpowering. The meatloaf was very flavorful and their brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy and with the right amount of salt and olive oil. It’s a perfect lunch place in the very heart of Knoxville. We’ll definitely go back for more, hopefully soon.
If you're trying to go any time during the weekend, be sure to make a reservation as the wait will likely be at least two hours, if you can get a table at all. The service my group received was phenomenal. Our server was very fun and attentive. The wait for food and drinks wasn't too long despite the place being very busy. I had a ginger turmeric drink and loved it. I'd return just to grab another. I generally enjoy the chicken and waffles. The seasoning in the breading is wonderful and darker meat in the chicken is a pleasant change of pace from what tends to be served elsewhere. The prices are slightly on the higher end but close to typical for Market Square. Overall, Tupelo Honey is definitely worth a visit.
We went here for an early dinner while in town from Cincinnati Ohio. The atmosphere was cook a little fancy meets eclectic. Emily our server took really good care of us. For food we started with the Fried Pickles, my wife and I split Ashville Hot Mac n Cheese Chicken n Waffles and the Fried Green Tomatoes. My daughter had the Classic Chicken n Waffles. I particularly liked the Fried Pickles, they were the size of small potatoe chips, really salty though. The Fried Green Tomatoes were good, very unique and tasty twist for old country classic. The Ashville Hot Mac n Cheese Chicken n Waffles were delicious. Its fried chicken on top of fried mac n cheese on top of a waffle. We actually ordered it with the sirracha honey on the side, which I'm glad we did ilbecsuse it was pretty spicy. Definitely enjoyed the experience. Would probably return next time we come to Chattanooga.
We sat on the patio, service was excellent. We saw others eating biscuits and jam, you have to ask for them. We both had a chicken meal and the side of fries and mac & cheese were super fantastic. We will come back!
The experience was exceptional from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfectly complementing the incredible food. We started with the fried pickles, a crispy and tangy delight that set the tone for the evening. The main course featured the standout dish: asheville fried chicken paired with mac & cheese waffles—a deliciously indulgent combination that exceeded our expectations. This restaurant is a true gem in downtown Knoxville, and an absolute must-try if you're in the area. Don’t miss out on this culinary treat!
Though I was full after one half of my meal, I literally didn't want to take leftovers home because the chicken & waffles were so good! The sriracha honey sauce mixed with syrup was the perfect combination for a flavorful twist on the meal. The Potato Cracklins were underwhelming in comparison, but I was satisfied with the meal overall. I'm not a lightweight, but one mega mimosa definitely made me feel warm and fuzzy enough to stop there. Very tasty and perfect for warmer weather! Our waitress was extremely kind and the service was timely. Can't wait to come back!
The food was delicious. We love biscuits and the fact that they were for good cause made them taste even better! The pimento and cheese was really great and had just a slight kick. The best brussels sprouts I’ve had in a long time.
I tried the chicken and waffles for my first visit. Absolutely delicious and I'll have to go back and try the sweet potato pancakes and other menu items.
This was the best meal I had in Knoxville Tennessee! GO! I arrived and was told there was a 30 minute wait. I had read the reviews and decided to wait. After about 20 minutes I began to rethink my choices when a group of guys I met at the convention came out from having dinner. They said "the food is worth it. We've eaten here every day. ". So I waited. Smart move. I ordered the Banana Pudding Waffles with Chicken. Crazy combo right? It was EXTRAORDINARY! Everything goes together to make a dish that's mind blowing. I didn't add syrup for my first bite and it was so very good! The waffle was fluffy with a crunch, the fried chicken was juicy and the Banana Pudding added a sweetness that compliments the rest of the dish. I thought it would be good but this exceeded my expectations. I decided to add the syrup and DANG! How did they know it would level up the dish entirely? I love this dish. This is a Death Row last meal request... for me. I recommended it to the family that got seated beside us. They ordered it to share at their table. I had an order of Collard Greens on the side. They were OK. The main meal had me talking about it the next day to my Uber driver and the United Airlines counter lady. I told her she needed to visit the restaurant and try it. Her coworker shook his head and said "He's right. That Banana Pudding Waffles with Chicken is their signature item." I'll be there at next year's convention.
Went to Tupelo Honey for the first time on a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere is bright and cheery, the service was prompt and helpful, and the food was great. My wife had "the best omelet in her life " I had the chicken club which was great, and the fries were amazing. Highly recommend this establishment.
The food was outstanding! I highly recommend the honey dusted chicken and Brussels sprouts. Also had the flat iron steak (cooked medium, and cut like butter, my gf didnt like the amount of gravy, but I liked it a lot), Mac and cheese, rosemary parm chrispy potato and salad between me and my gf. All great. Lost a star for atmosphere out of something that was not entirely in their control. Their was a VERY large business group next to us, 20+ people, and they were very very loud. Made it feel like we had to scream and each other to talk.
Great experience - was in town to see my daughters and had a large group for breakfast. Jennifer was our waitress and she was fantastic handling us and a few other groups. The food was simply amazing too which made it all wonderful! Thank you 🙏 and 5⭐️+
WOW! The foods are really tasty here. It was grad day so the place was packed. Mountain morning hash - I did not try but my son loved it. Fried green tomatoes and grits - sounds so simple yet super tasty. Shrimp and grits - yummy Honey dusted Fried chicken and fried Brussel sprouts- really good. Banana pudding- good Perfect place for a brunch before heading over to the T basketball stadium for the graduation ceremony.
We had a pleasant experience at Tupelo Honey. I believe that they were short-handed in wait staff because although there were many tables available, there was a long wait. We did not have a reservation, so we were pleased that we could set at the bar and eat a quick dinner before a show. We ordered drinks which were fabulous! The bartender did a great job on those. The service for ordering food was very slow. I can't blame the bartender because he was doing the best he could with many tables and the bar. The fried green tomatoes with grits were excellent. I will definitely order them again. The spinach salad was okay as was the hamburger. The ambiance is nice and I bet it's beautiful in the evening.
Enjoyed Southern-style Food with Excellent Service and Ambiance! I recently visited this restaurant and had an good dining experience. The house-made ginger beer was a refreshing start to my meal. For the main course, me and my husband ordered the cobb salad and the dark fried chicken, both of which were delicious. However, the highlight of my meal was the Famous Fried Green Tomatoes and Biscuit for a Cause. The restaurant offers an incredible selection of Southern-style dishes that are bursting with flavor. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Southern-style cuisine.
First I have to say that the noise in that place is off the charts. The food oh the food here; the bad: “biscuits for a cause” are insanely bad, I wouldn’t give them to my worst enemy. Scrambled eggs (fake) or done poorly. Coffee-yikes “don’t be so cheap”. The good: We ordered chicken and waffles, decent sized, and flavorful. The fried green tomatoes are a must. I won’t go back, but had to try it.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered off the brunch menu. I did a make your own omelet. The eggs were fluffy but the veggies and meat were lacking in both flavor and amount. The pickled onions were delicious. The cheesy grits were delicious but on the cold side. They were willing to bring fresh but I declined. The hubby had the Mountain Bowl and it too lacked in the protein amount. It contained only a couple bacon bits.
I had the fried chicken and was not a fan. I thought it had an odd smell to it. It was just ok. The breading was good but I have definitely had better. The fries were overcooked in my opinion. The fried okra was great! The banana pudding was good. Service was excellent. The restaurant was cold to the point it was uncomfortable.
My boyfriend and I came here for a Valentine's Day dinner after loving it here every time we've been previously. The food was excellent, and our server was very attentive, but it was very obvious they were trying to rush everyone out of the restaurant. About 15 minutes after we got our food, before we had finished our meals, our waitress put our check on the table, and didn't ask if we wanted dessert or anything else. She came back to get it not five minutes after that, and it was very clear we were not ready to go. If we had not taken our time to enjoy our dinner, they would have had us out of there in 30 minutes total. Multiple tables around us got seated after us and left before us for the same reason. We were only there for about 45 minutes and were very disappointed by this. I understand Valentine's Day is busy, but this was a real let-down. We will be going elsewhere next year.
I visited Tupelo Honey for breakfast, and overall, it was an okay experience. The atmosphere is great for socializing but it gets really crowded, which can be a bit hectic. The food was a mixed bag. The crispy potatoes were unfortunately cold and hard, which was disappointing. On the other hand, the soy sausage had good flavor but was overcooked. While I wouldn’t rush back, it might still be worth a try for the vibe and if you don’t mind a hit or miss meal.
My son got the sweet and sweet and spicy chicken and waffles. There was one piece of chicken that looked like 1/2 a breast. My wife had the meatloaf which had a very peculiar flavor. And her crispy parmesan potatoes were like rubber. I had the flat iron steak which had a peculiar flavor, and the texture was like mush. It was way over marinated. My wife and I ordered salads with our meals which they brought out with the meals. By the time we finished our salads her meatloaf and my steak were cold. I've had other bad experiences here, like twice being seated at the rear table next to the door where an intense smell of brussel sprouts cooking permeated the air. I won't be going back anytime soon!
I came to the restaurant last month. Was quite disappointed in some of the food. My daughter ordered fried chicken as soon as she bit into the chicken it was noticeably bloody. They refried her some more chicken and we just took it to go and when we got home, some of the chicken still was not fully cooked. I have pictures. I’m very disappointed being that I came from out of state and tried this place. I was also disappointed in my food. My steak was overcooked. I asked for it to be medium well and it was very done. My eggs were cold and potatoes were hard and no flavor so after the paying for almost $100 worth of food, it definitely was disappointed and we left hungry. Please find a way to check your chicken before providing to customers. I tried to contact the business directly before writing this review and nobody even responded to my feedback on their page. I would not Recommend this place.
