Great place for breakfast, lots of choices and the staff always made sure we had anything we needed. Definitely will come back
Love the homey feeling. Amazing friendly staff. The food was so tasty. Thank you for making our southern California experience so great. From a farm family in Northern California
We made pepper shaker our go to favorites place on a Saturday morning for breakfast/brunch. Just love this place for its homely feel and like stepping back in time to the sixties. Food is always freshly made to order and I absolutely love the frittatas. Good selection on the menu and the homemade croutons are to die for. Very nice owners who both work and help out at the restaurants and the staff are wonderful, some having been there several years. Friendly feeling and everyone gets known by their first names. Occasionally wish they would have a shake up on the menu but otherwise I look forward to my weekly treat. Personally think it's the best breakfast joint near Fullerton. See you Saturday guys! :-)
Service and dish selection is amazing. This is a mom and pop shop with amazing prices, plenty of tables and has been open since the 80's. Dinner specials that come with soup or salad, a decent sized meal and desert for around 10-13 dollars. Only place you can get grilled beef liver and onions in this area! Corned beef and cabbage on Thursday nights. As you may tell I am a regular. And I am slowly trying all the dishes. Many of which I really enjoy.
Since that first experience the restaurant has improved incrementally over the last couple years. While I haven't tried the French toast since that first time - partially because it doesn't seem to be any different and I don't want to be disappointed, but mainly because I have been in love with the ultimate frittata. There is still room for improvement, but we keep going back because their prices are generally better than others in the area and everyone has found at least one dish that is consistently great. Still, with my love for french toast I can't help hoping they will add a premium option with some nice thick, fresh bread slices that they really give time to completely absorb as much batter as possible, and comes out of the kitchen hot and ready to melt in your mouth 🤤. Old review: First visit to Pepper Shaker. Went for breakfast Sunday. Wasn't very busy at all. Overall impression: "Hmm... Not bad... But not really good either." Three stars seems too few, four stars seems too many, so let's call it 3.5. BIL said was just a typical diner, and he's right. I prefer to support local restaurants vs. chains like Denny's, but that's kinda what it felt like: like someone copied a Denny's 30 years ago and never updated or changed anything over the years. The staff was nice, but everything was just kind of, okay. Passable. Unfortunately the place looks kind of dated, and when driving by it in the past we weren't even sure it was still open for business. Definitely feels like the place could use some updating and a spark. Some innovation and energy. New dishes or at least interesting tweaks on the classics. There are so many different ways to make french toast instead of just using the standard cheap bread and same old batter recipe. And as much as I appreciate the effort to offer extra choices, serving sorta-lousy pre-made cinnamon roll with a side of butter had us all look at each other like 🤨...🤷♂️. I'm not saying they need to do a collab with Cinnabon, but they can do better than that. I really want places like this to succeed, and maybe they are doing fine financially, but my gut tells me this place needs to make some changes to survive long-term. I'm sure we'll be going back at some point to try other dishes, and I hope I'll be able to provide a more glowing review next time.
I've been going to The Pepper Shaker for years and the quality of the food and service has always been the same. The owners are super friendly and always step in to help the staff if needed which is something you don't see anymore. The restaurant hasn't changed much and that's not a bad thing. My 3 year old (a very picky eater) also approves of the food so hopefully that'll convince you to give this awesome restaurant a chance.
Love this place. Traditional neighborhood family style friendly restaurant with great service and great prices. They learn and know you by name.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. It is family owned and the atmosphere is homey and inviting. The restaurant is clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. A great place for comfort food, well prepared and flavorful. The serving portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this place.
Like eating at home. Friendly comfortable atmosphere
Food was very good. Super nice employees.
First time coming here and definitely will be coming back for more. Food exceeded my expectations, it was delicious and portions were good. Service was attentive and friendly!
This is my favorite breakfast place in town! The staff are super friendly and kind. The breakfast sausages are so delicious! Everything I have ordered here has been amazing. Good prices and the claw machine with stuffed animals is the best!
Placed a phone order the lady was super helpful and nice. The food was good.
I almost hate to get the word out on how great this place is. This is our secret pleasure. The food is outstanding as all food is cooked on premise. It is literally just like home cooking. A traditional Diner's menu meaning there is a large variety of choices. Service is always efficient and friendly.
The food was delicious and the waitress was extremely sweet and helpful. Overall I think we will be coming back for sure. It was a little pricier than expected but not too bad. ____________________________________ Update because I can’t figure out how to leave a second review: They have the best corn beef and cabbage! I’ve had it at other places for St. Patrick’s day and the others pale in comparison. I will never go elsewhere for my St. Patrick’s day meal. My only complaint is that they close at 3pm due to staffing shortages (temp hours are 7-3) so they don’t have dinner service. I had to leave work way early to get my traditional Irish meal today. I really wish this could be the one day a year they have dinner service. The owner is very sweet and all the staff I’ve encountered have been really helpful and professional and generally I feel at home here, even though I’ve only been a handful of times. Dine in and takeout experiences have been great. No wonder this place has been open so long.
We came here for breakfast when they open @7. The staff was more than great. If you ever want to experience the joy of eating at a dinner with a small town feel than this is the place. We had a group of 4 and we did not realize that we stayed for 2 hours. It was amazing that the time went by so fast and the staff there were so exceptional.
Excellent All Around between Service of food in a timely manner, our waitress Sharon & hostess Nancy were both great, very friendly & helpful in seating 2 disabled people with walkers in a perfect spot. The omelets, hashbrowns, biscuits & gravy were all very delicious & very filling, glad we had enough for leftovers for the next day. Bonus was Apffels Coffee, so hard to have only 1 cup.
I love this little country diner! I am working through a list of all the well-known diners in and near Los Angeles County and of course Pepper Shaker was on the list. I would call it a local country diner and all senses of the word, of which I am a big fan. All of the servers were extremely polite, way more than I usually get which was one of my favorite parts of the whole experience. Also everything that we ordered came out very fast and they did a great job maintaining the refills. Inside is pretty large, they have booth seating, tables, and a counter area. I love that it looks like a traditional California diner and bet countless people have enjoyed this place over the decades. There is also a large free parking lot attached so parking was really easy. The menu has a lot of the diner classics which made it hard to choose what to order. To start we shared a Cinnamon Roll, which was pretty small and not as fluffy as I’m used to, but it had great flavors and was a really nice start to the meal. I followed up with the Chicken Fried Steak and thought it was fantastic. Everything about it was done perfectly and I was really happy that I ordered it. Overall, a great diner, and I would recommend to anyone in the area.
That was the best American restaurant ever in La Habra where they served breakfast every day. They also serve sandwiches, burgers, salads, Mexican, and other delicious food! I like to recommend Pepper Shaker a great thumbs up!
Home away from home! ❤️ Great coffee, the best blueberry muffin, and perfectly cooked eggs & bacon. JoAnn and the team were so warm and attentive—made our breakfast extra special!
Food: The food is pretty darn yummy! Their Broasted Chicken is cooked to order but the wait is well worth it! I also enjoy their Ruben Sandwich, Turkey Dinner (only served on Sundays, so it's fresh), Porkchops, Santa Fe Chicken Salad, and liver and onions. Meals typically come with choice of sides, soup or salad and sometimes a dessert. Cheap diner prices. Great coffee! Service: Always friendly, fast, and accurate. Setting: Your typical diner. Plenty of seating and always clean. Can get busy at times though. Returning customer.
First time here after someone told their ham is good. For sure better than Denny's or Ihope , the price is good too and portion is good. Service is good. The guy keeping to ask if we want a refill on our coffee. The only thing kids sad is no refill on hot chocolate 🤣. Place is clean and not to busy. We can really enjoy our food and chit chat. They have a kids meal too and good price and portion too. *come back to order take out spagetti & meatball and half broasted chicken dinner you get soup or salad and fries or mashed potato. Overall is okay. For broasted chicken is crispy but maybe can add more seasoning like salt but like i said its preference. Everyone have the own favorite taste.
My wife loves the clam chowder with garlic toast. I like how I can always get a great breakfast anytime. We really enjoy this place.
This is my first time here at the Pepper Shaker. Having said that, I ordered the "special "...Stuffed Bell peppers.....omg...all authentic. The meat and rice mixture was perfect. The mashed potatoes fresh. I ordered the iced tea...again, freshly brewed! Let's go back to the bell peppers..no ketchup on them! The true European way..as I'm originally from Europe, I'd know that. My husband ordered the chorizo and eggs breakfast and even that was fantastic! The rice pudding...again..omg....fresh. I have absolutely no complaints. The beef noodle soup was delicious. It's a shame that this restaurant is not in Portland Oregon! The service is beyond amazing! If you complain, you are unsatisfiable!
great end of year meal, I'm glad I made it this far once again, anyway, this is a locals fav, they offer quality comfort food...I had the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and country fries...why reinvent the wheel... sipped good coffee they offer as well with the meal, my friend had the same...I will be back next year...feliz ano nuevo ya'all!!
when you come: ask for ..joana. she is very kind and something else is an angel. ask about the specialty of the house? And which is make you feel at home.
Thoroughly enjoyed my split pea home made soup along with my daily special egg salad sandwich. Parking was easy, sat down right away, ordered and was served immediately. A local gem that is appreciated. Should visit more often to enjoy those soups.

Service was excellent food was excellent great atmosphere it’s a definite must try . They have a bunch of menu options and I will definitely be going back
My favorite restaurant, breakfast, biscuit and gravy, club sandwich and don't forget the homemade croutons ♡ I've been coming here for over 40 years.
Feeling like a senior today. Started off with an early Sunday morning Costco run...apparently when you're an Executive member, you have access of getting into Costco 1 hour before the general public. Wanted to keep the same vibe today since Wifey & i were in our senior mood still, we decided to stop by Pepper Shaker in La Habra. We had much fun meeting Nancy, she is a great person to talk to. She also explained the great menu with a lot to choose from. Today we shared the Pork chops, hash browns and biscuits with gravy...I did get my own eggs with hash browns and my biscuits @_@ with gravy. Great classic diner with an extensive menu. I need to swing by and try afternoon menu. It reminds me of The Carriage in La Mirada (no longer there) McD's took over that location. Stop by and say hi to Nancy!
Old school diner with delicious breakfast, they have a great menu with all of the classics breakfast foods such as omelettes, frittatas French toas, pancakes and a lunch menu with the usual fare. I've ordered their chorizo with eggs. I love their corned hash and eggs you get an option of home fries which are really great with peppers and onions if you want. Coffee is pretty basic just a pot of coffee with the standard individual creamers some sweet and low on the table. This is my go to spot on the weekends. My husband I love coming here. The food is a good portion size , I usually eat half and take that rest home to eat later. Prices are also very reasonable but the best part are the people. Friendly faces, big smiles, prompt service you definitely feel like you're being attended to throughout the entire time you're there. The food is always consistently good if you want to have a no frills breakfast experience with the classics come here you will not regret it.
We love getting breakfast here. It's like taking a trip back in time. The food reminds me of good old fashioned country cooking. Love this place!
I don't know why I ever stopped eating at the pepper shaker won't make that mistake again thanks for the great food the great atmosphere and the people that work there are awesome

Nice old school type American food restaurant with decent Mexican options. Great service and always friendly faces and warm greetings. Updated: love this place. The Blueberry muffin is something special. Try it!
First time. Service and food fantastic. Omelette very fluffy. Fried potatoes delicious. Biscuits super soft. Booths need a heavy cleaning.
My family and I started going to The Pepper Shaker when we were in the area and all the other restaurants were seriously packed for breakfast. I like trying new places, so we tried this place. There is plenty of parking, which was a plus. The staff is really friendly and when we started coming here more often, they always had us a warm smile and said, "welcome back!" It is a great family owned restaurant offering American classics as well as some Mexican dishes. Although they offer dinner plates, we've only eaten breakfast and lunch here. The prices are the average sit down restaurant prices, which is fair for the amount of food you get.
Great old style diner with lots of comfort foods. Everything tasted great and reasonable prices.
Decent place, clean, pleasant atmosphere, lovely vining pothos plants all over the place keeping the air clean. Basic all-American diner food, prices reflect portions. Has a vintage vibe, would recommend. Only real negative was the watered down orange juice, not worth the cost.
Good comfort food with an older theme restaurant. The serve was on the spot

Place is a classic diner, with friendly and helpful staff. Food is average at best. Stick to the basics and it's decent. They have a huge menu, but when we ventured past basic breakfast it fell short. Coffee: no Bueno. Bright, vintage atmosphere with decent early-day pricing.
Went here for breakfast. Nice friendly environment from the staff. They were not busy, but numerous regular customers were there. The food was ok. My steak was unseasonably a GOOD steak should be able to stand by itself. I had to add alot of A-1 Steak Sauce.
First time trying. Breakfast was good. Got a waffle and eggs, tasted delicious. My son got an omelette. The omelette was delicious, then Towards the end we found a hair in the food. The Service in the beginning was whatever waitress seemed like she didn’t care. The lady at the end was the best. She had a great attitude and very funny.

First impression walking in .. a server sitting at the bar eating right there by the cash register. Mopping where you are eating with the smell of bleach water. Pricing for food was okay on some of the items, very inconsistent in pricing. A fountain drink was significantly overpriced. There was really nothing fantastic about this place or food to fit the prices and it was only open until 3pm. Definitely will not be going back.
Very disappointed with the corn beef with cabbage. So much fat on the meat. Cudnt eat it. I called n asked if it was lean if.not I didn't want it. $11.25. Will never go back 2 eat this UPDATE. THEY HAVE NEVER REACHED OUT OR APOLOGIZE. BCUZ THEY DONT CARE
