Opinions de Parakeet Cafe La Jolla
Limited seating but nice spot for lunch or a good coffee. We had a large group that ordered a variety of different types of food and all were well received. The burger was particularly good. Breakfast burrito could use some texture like some crispy bacon or a pickled item or something, good with the soft scramble otherwise They have inside and outside seating but no full tables inside, just small spots for 2-3 up along the wall
This is a wonderful small cafe. Everything surprised us. We came here in the morning of Christmas Day. The place was packed with people. We waited in the queue for about 15 minutes before placing our orders. My wife ordered morning burrito and I ordered eggs and smoked salmon. The food was so delicious. My wife loves her hearty burrito, made from soft spinach wrap with scrambled eggs, bacon and potato cubes inside, with a cup of hot Latte. Mine came in 3 sunny-side-up eggs, fresh smoke salmon, grilled asparagus and slices of avocado with a large piece of sourdough bread toast and a cup of English Breakfast Tea. Honestly we had a most delicious breakfast here in the year. The servers were nice but not over friendly. They did everything right. The place was crowded but they cleaned your table quickly before the mess over your table for too long. The other thing we loved was the price. It turned out it was cheaper than that of New York’s where we came from. I strongly recommend this cafe to everyone who happens to be in La Jolla Cove. Thumbs up!
I enjoyed every bit of my meal…The salads are super fresh and crisp, and the tofu is always made to perfection. The Parakeet salad is amazing and Greens and Grains is nutritious and healthy. Each time I go there, it’s consistent eating, which I appreciate. Parking is brutal so make sure you’re not so hungry when you want to go here….You’ll be circling around a bit until finding a good spot, but this place is worth the hunt! Enjoy!!!
Such a cute place I’m always fond of French style and food type. Always order the Matcha latte no syrup love it. The food so far is great. Chicken wrap was recommended by the sweet girl at the cashier. Hope you stay open later. Love the coffee too
First time coming here was in the area and looking for a cafe within walking distance. Will come again! Liked my drink and mom liked hers. The cups are more durable than standard single use cups I feel like you could reuse them at home which is nice
I came to Parakeet for the first time today to enjoy a beverage and some time in La Jolla, and I can say, this place is something special. The customer service was excellent—everyone was so welcoming and attentive, and it really made the experience stand out. I tried both the turmeric latte and the matcha latte, and they were absolutely delicious—perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. My barista, Addison, went above and beyond with incredible latte art and such a kind, genuine attitude. You can tell there’s real care put into every drink here. I’ll definitely be back!
Stopped by with my friends today and I think I found my favorite coffee shop. Naomi was so friendly and welcoming, she gave us great recommendation on drink and treats, and Neda made such a wonderful latte with cute latte art. We’ll come back!
Coffee was solid at Parakeet Cafe in La Jolla. The $12 dirty chai was tasty, but at that price it felt like it should come with a stock option or a small souvenir.
I would love to come here again to hang out or study! I was immediately drawn by the pink aesthetic of the whole cafe. Everything is very nicely packaged and it felt like a sincere, high-end cafe to visit. I just got a small drip coffee to go, yet I have been convinced to come again when time allows so please await part 2 of this review! So far I can rave about the cute heart stopper that is placed in the to go cups and the cozy, sheek ambiance of the whole place. There was a line in the late morning I came in to visit. Service was still kind and patient with all the different people looking for a nice bite or drink. God bless you all
Adorable place, friendly service, the food and coffee were great, and the vibe is so fun. I'm sad I didn't discover it until my last day in town because I would love to come back again and again.
I’m a sucker for visuals and good coffee. Loved the details in this adorable coffee shop. Iced latte was delish. Saved this place to visit again.

Very modern and classy cafe. Clean and very tasty. All the meals are well presented and made of clean foods. My chai latte was very smooth and tasty as well. Will return when in area.
Visited La Jolla on a beautiful Saturday morning and found this coffee shop. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staffs are genuinely friendly, and drinks are crafted with care. Janelle and Regina take care of us with such a positive energy and gave us greet recommendations. We order honey cinnamon latte and mushroom cacao chai. The quality of the coffee is excellent. Barista did an amazing job with latte art. They also offer great food options that are fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Whether you’re grabbing a quick drink or settling in to relax, this place makes you feel welcome. Highly recommend!
The cafe is about contemporary organic ingredients and healthy recipes! Portions are just right. Delicious preps. Service is exceptional. Do check out the menu! All in all it’s a good choice. Had a freshly prepared green eggs with sourdough toast, some good hot house brew and latte! Wonderful bakes
My best friend and I came in and had the best experience friday night with the server Michelle, I think her name was, she had some dyed hair — as our server. She greeted us with a smile, explained the food and drink menu clearly, and gave us great suggestions. Both the boy making the drinks and server checked in on us at the right times, and everything felt very smooth and comfortable. Michelle’s positive attitude and attention made our meal so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend coming for a meal!
I love Parakeet Cafe's food and have enjoyed all locations. But let me give a special shout out to the staff at the LaJolla location. They're always helpful and friendly despite (A) working in the smallest storefront of any of their locations and (B) dealing with a combination of entitled LJ residents as well as confused tourists unfamiliar with their menu. No matter what, they are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Special shoutout: On our last visit, I wanted to get an acai bowl, which is sold at the Parakeet juice bar a few doors down, and the staff brought the other food we ordered to the juice bar (where there were more open tables) so my companion and I could eat together. Please give this staff ALL THE THINGS (like good pay and benefits, I hope) and yes, go to Parakeet. Love the food, love their pastries, love their bread.
From the moment you step into Parakeet Cafe La Jolla, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of charm and sophistication—and Kayla is the jewel of that experience. As someone who spends my days as a hiring expert, meticulously attentive to customer experience, I can say without hesitation that Kayla’s elegance, poise, and polished professionalism are unparalleled. She remembers the smallest details about her clients, offers spot-on recommendations, and somehow makes each visit feel uniquely curated and delightfully personal. Her sophistication and warmth elevate the entire cafe experience, making every visit a pleasure. This level of attentiveness and refinement is a hallmark of all Parakeet Cafes, but Kayla’s presence truly sets the bar. Five stars, without question. Simply exquisite.

An exceptional breakfast and brunch spot. Creative without being fussy, and clearly grounded in high-quality ingredients and solid technique. The croissants, chilaquiles, Green Eggs, and breakfast sandwich were all excellent, each executed with care and confidence. A place that quietly sets a very high standard for casual brunch.

The croissant sandwich was life changing. The roasted potatoes were so good as well! Got the double espresso and it was so flavorful. We came here twice on our 3 day trip because of how good the food was!

My husband and I went on a mystery picnic in LA jolla, and this was one of our stops. We had a summer salad and avocado toast, we also purchased two of their fresh juices. The Ambiance of this Cafe is very fun, beachy, pink, foresty. Their Bakery items also looked amazing. We didn't get a choose our food items as it was part of a preset experience, I did not like the summer salad it was really boring, the avocado toast was actually pretty tasty and they added a good spin with some pink pickled onions. I would however definitely go back to try some of their fresh baked items and other things on their menu.

We recently visited this cafe and had a great time! The place is cute and clean with both indoor and outdoor seating. We had the Belgian waffles and chilaquiles with chicken—both were great! The waffle was flavorful and not dry and the chocolate was perfect amount of sweet, and the chilaquiles had a really tasty salsa verde. We got cappuccinos and appreciated the dairy-free options like oat and almond milk. The server was friendly and attentive, even though the place was busy. Overall, a really good experience—we’d definitely come back.
It was a bit cramped inside but they did have a relatively large restroom with a diaper change board. The almond croissant was completely soft and not crispy after warmed up… the first time in my life I got a soft croissant in a cafe after heated up. Very disappointed.

Very trendy but bougie. I think it's more of a place people want to be seen at because it's popular. Food is very different but not that great. Extremely overpriced for what you get. But then again La Jolla is not a place you go for value. The service was not very good at all. The people working there didn't seem very friendly more motivated. $16 or $17 for a slice of avocado or mushroom toast. But that's just me. Son of their food does look very pretty, but I'll pass on this one.
I gave this place multiple chances, but the overall experience has been disappointing. The biggest issue is management. Interactions have felt condescending, defensive, and dismissive when concerns were brought up. You end up feeling like you are inconveniencing them just by asking a basic question. This is not about the regular staff. The non management employees seem stressed and are likely doing their best. However, I have witnessed management speak harshly to employees in front of customers, which creates a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere. The food has consistently been bland and underwhelming, especially considering the prices. It does not match the premium cost. The drinks are inconsistent and not worth the pricing. I would not recommend ordering food here. There are better cafés nearby with friendlier service and better value.
