Having a taco shop on campus is absolutely essential for my belly! Simple to the point Mexican food with vegetarian options and if you like chile rellenos come on a Friday to fatten up a little.

It's a campus restaurant, so there's a very relaxed atmosphere. Everything we had was delicious.

The prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, and the layout is nice. The food quality varies but the range is from okay to very good, so it's never bad enough where I wouldn't be satisfied. It's also more often very good than okay. Still though, I just wish it was more consistent which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall I recommend Taco Villa.

Complete menu, affordable, clean restaurant, attentive staff. Food was fresh but not flavorful or spicy enough for my liking. House made hot sauce equally mild. I'll go again and ask for extra spice. Overall, very enjoyable.

No joke, probably the bet authentic Mexican food you’ll get in La Jolla, let alone UCSD. Sure it’s mid, but there’s nothing better in La Jolla. I’ve gotten the burritos plenty of times working at KSDT next door, and it always slaps.

The food here is good but a little bit pricey. The place is clean and has a good atmosphere. The people who take your order aren't bad but always seem in a bad mood when taking your order....

Not bad, but ngl when I got Cali burrito a few hours after lunchtime I could tell fries were cooked a few hours back during lunch rush & no fresh ones were made for me. Or at least if that is not the case, the fry game was so lacking it seemed so, would help dryness of fries if there was more sauce. Complementary side sauce is good

As a holiday special they have tamales! But the coolest is that they have vegetarian tamales and they taste good! The workers in the front of the house need a slight attitude check. They act as taking our order or giving us our food when it comes out of the kitchen, is a huge imposition. If you don't like to help customers, they don't work in any service sector, retail, food, etc. Their cooks are nice, the food tastes good and the prices are better than any food at PC.

It's ok. I've had a few bites of my boyfriend's chili Verde burrito and it was yum!! Like, I wanted to finish his lunch up that time. But somehow, this time around, we weren't too impressed. We both got chili Verde. The burrito was a little chewy and the pork, beans, rice weren't as smashing as I remember. The salsas they have there are fantastic so I ended pouring both onto each bite, which made the burrito more palatable. The onions are great too! I could eat those all day long. Just disappointed with the burrito considering how much I was looking forward to having a whole one myself

The food tastes really good, but since 2026 has been severely marked up in price. The food portions and quality are no longer worth the high prices. They also scam people on taco tuesday. On other days the tortillas are hand-made and like twice the size. On taco tuesday they give you store-bought tortillas that are half the size. You aren't really getting a discount, just a lower quality, reduced portion taco.

Order Carne Asada Burrito, mediocre food not worth the price. The beef was tough and bland. There was no seasoning or flavor at all. The guacamole was watered down and also happened to be bland. The only good thing was that their salsa had a nice kick to it, if you dunk enough of that on the burrito it would become more edible. Charged $10 for a simple burrito, what a blatant robbery!

They raised their prices without updating the paper menus or the one taped to the counter by the register, which was confusing. My burrito had a pathetic amount of guac, I thought they had forgotten it until I was halfway done and I found like half a teaspoon of it. Pretty lame.

Came a few times right after it opened, was abysmally slow but chalked it up to growing pains. Still waiting half an hour for a couple tacos, with hardly anybody in the restaurant and little activity apparent in the kitchen. The quality is ok, but nothing to justify the prices and insane amount of time they take to make the food. I'm done.

Hope one of the ladies is working, so you don't feel Follow up edit - do not order the mulitas. It is very small in comparison to the price ($7). You will be disappointed; I know I am... Rather hit or miss, but its the only taco shop within reasonable walking distance of campus.... cause it is on campus. The staff is nice and make the place very welcoming, but don't be surprised by a mixed up order or lukewarm food. The guac is mostly flavorless, but their pollo is relay tasty! Good quesadillas and carne fries as well. If you can make the distance out of La Jolla, there are lots of other superior places, but if you are on campus when the craving hits, Taco VIlla will scratch enough of the itch to satisfy.

Terrible experience. Got there 809 am. Ordered a bean and cheese burrito. Literally the easiest thing on the menu. Walked out THIRTY minutes later without my food because I was tired of waiting and I have a class like all of their customers. I understand the difficulty opening a business but I'm talking about a bean and cheese burrito. Step one warm up tortilla. Step two put beans and cheese on. Fold. Done And if you can't serve food quickly go open next to a retirement home not a busy university. Don't be an apologist.

Service is definitely 0 stars. They are not nice at all and don't respond when you thank them or tell them to have a good day. I recommend hiring better staff for better a experience for customers. Maybe youll get a better rating. Food is about 3 stars in my opinion. Slightly worse than I had expected. I'll be back next week to try something else. I'll adjust the rating accordingly.

Overpriced tiny tacos. It’s campus food so don’t get your hopes up. Taste is okay by campus standards, but every other taqueria off campus is cheaper and has bigger/better tacos. Paid $10 for two small tacos after tip, and the “fish” in the fish taco is mostly fried flour batter.

After many months of being open they are still very slow to get food out. As the only taco shop on campus I am pulling for them to succeed. But with such slow service it's hard to give more than one star for now. As far as the food... The beans are usually cold, but overall it's standard taco shop fare.

Guac tastes like store bought kind - bland and too salty. All their meat is way too oily, I feel sick after eating. Plus they often add this weird smoky flavor. Probably the worst Mexican I've ever had

Beginning with the cons, this place is overpriced, service is subpar, and the length of time required to await meals is ridiculous. Only positive note is that the carne asada is delicious, however their burritos are extremely thin for a nearly $9 burrito. Save your money and eat a microwaveable burrito.

I ordered the 2 shredded beef taco plate and they gave me the wrong plate. It took 20+ minutes to get my plate in the first place. I took it back and asked them to correct it, 15 minutes later they fixed it but the taco contained 85% lettuce and 15% beef, I was biting into a fried tortilla...I requested for my money back and they politely gave me a refund. Definitely my last time ever getting food from this place since they wasted 40 minutes of my time.

This place is terrible. Cheese on bean and cheese burrito is cold, even when requested it be melted. Service is slow. Even if you order online, food is rarely available at time requested. Food is bland and under salted. Bean and cheese burrito sometimes comes with very little filling, leading to a burrito that is mostly tortilla.

Had the worst california burrito of my life here a few months ago, so I've been trying to make it back to give them a second chance. Apparently the only time of day they're open is noon, and no one seems content to give accurate store hours anywhere

I used to love this place when it first opened but since covid-19 I feel the quality has gone down and the prices up. I tried to give it once more chance and ordered a Cali burrito and it was super dry.

I went to get the surf and turf burrito and it came out within 3 minutes which is pretty fast but when I bit into my burrito, I felt something oddly crunchy but slimy and the shrimp was still raw. I went back and asked if I could get a replacement and when I bit into the replacement, the shrimp on the outside looked cooked but the inside was still translucent. I just asked for a refund and left but staff was nice about the whole situation.

Had the fish fries today, fries was warm, fish was cold. It was disgusting. Not going back again.

The staff used to be friendly and the food (even on the pricy side for a Mexican restaurant) was pretty decent. I went today, the guy at the register was rude and impatient and the food was small, dry and flavorless.

it's the best mexican food on ucsd campus, but not mind blowingly good, pretty basic and will get the job done if you just want some classic mexican food. they are pretty quick with getting orders out, and they definitely stay busy which is probably why the cashiers aren't very peppy. all-in-all pretty mid update: i ordered a to-go burrito one night, before they closed and picked my order before they closed as well. but the environment is not welcoming at all, like never expect a smile. i would be fine with that if the burrito wasn't god awful. i paid extra for rice and beans, no rice and beans were added, the burrito was only dry grounds of meat drowning in sauce and soggy shredded lettuce and way too much tortilla in relation to the filling. i understand if they ran out of rice and beans, but if this is the case then please let me know and maybe offer a refund. it was not worth $15 :( really sad considering they claim to be serving authentic mexican food and this is uc SAN DIEGO (cries)

I always tell myself that, that is the last time I’m going to eat here. It doesn’t matter if it’s the man or the woman at the counter taking my order, they both look and treat me like they hate my guts. I always try to be polite to them or ask how they are doing and it seems like torture for them to be polite. I’ve never seen them spit in my food or anything but I always eat with fear because of the look of hatred they give me. I’ve never written a review in my life and generally steer away from doing anything that may harm someone’s business, but I feel maybe hearing a review like this could help change taco villas approach to customer service. I purchased a breakfast burrito that was already over $13, when paying you are asked if you would like to leave a tip. The options start at 20% to 25% then 30%. Most places start with 15%. I pressed the 20% percent option thinking maybe a little kindness might be contagious but I was naive. When my tiny burrito arrived, costing almost $18 after my tip, I graciously received it telling the man who called my number, thank you. In return I received no response and was graced with a view of the back of his head. To say the least my almost $18 burrito was smaller than my hand and was poorly made and what I received felt like an absolute insult. The people who work the register seem like they could be the owners entitled spoiled brat kids that think they are too good to work or serve other people. The only reason they are in business is because they are the only taco shop on campus. I will never tip again for horrible service and horrible food. I will never return or try my luck at this establishment ever again.
