Staff was amazing with us when we explained it was our first time there. Waitress was very patient with my teens and naturally explained the menu/choices. She made time to ask about our day and small talk. I loved how attentive she was with our table, even with how busy it was. Generous food portions and it exceeded our satisfaction on flavor(s). Cocktails were average pricing (8-12.00) and did not disappoint. Highly recommend!
Edit: I took my friends back here. Breton (I hope I spelled this lovely woman's name right) was an awesome server. We absolutely loved her!!! Got sat immediately, and I walked out to one of the nicest outdoor seatings to date. Of course, we brought our little guy. The heating was warm and cozy, and our hostess was warm and friendly. Our server, she was wonderful. The food, though, omg, I was just happy looking at the menu, but the food? I needed something like this in my life, and this was literally the highlight of my day. The facility was well ran, organized, and the bathrooms were super clean, and all plating of all these scrumptious dishes washed beautiful. Did I mention their awesome happy hour menu or their curated wine list that can in the hearts of any wine connoisseur? Domain wines, too, which were impressive. We got the coconut shrimp, super crunchy, but not hard and not too sweet and had the best compliment of flavor with their sweet chili sauce. The oysters in the half shell came with a vinaigrette and cocktail sauce. Their korean fried chicken was crispy and flavorful, but not overwhelming. They also had a wonderful gochujang sauce that had depth but wasn't too salty or sweet like other places are. Balance of flavors was on point. The poke and taro chips were superb. How did I not know about this place? I've been missing out for over 10 years? No wonder why they had awards on the wall. They were well deserved. I'm coming back, like soon.
Serving very nice seafood with Asian flavour. Have a nice lake view when sitting outside the balcony. Very friendly and helpful waitress. Ordered the fried calamari, northwest oyster is blowing my mind! The crab cake , the jumbo shrimp , fried spring roll and jumbo seared scallops were beating my expectation. The stewed seafood with clams, fish and mussel was nicely prepared with reasonable spiciness! The other good to share was the wine list is extensive with good varieties of wine especially the Oregan wines that is good and reasonable price. worth a visit... Jan 2022 2 years later I came back to this restaurant. The food quality retained the same quality. Ordered the diver scallops, steamed mussel pot with coconut and spicy sauce, ribs, cocktails prawn, fried five spice squid 🦑 but ran out on the usual Northwest oysters … disappointing. Great wine selection and wine buoy the good evening !
Our takeout dinner was so good!! Everything was well put together. I really like the kind of to-go boxes they use. No mess. And food was still very warm by the time it made it to my home. From Thai crab cakes to blackened salmon salads, to burger and scallops! All were amazingly delicious! I love the service too! 😊
Visited for the first time and very much enjoyed! Lovely views, above average happy hour options, great customer service, and the lounge is perfect to sit in whether you're waiting for a table or doing happy hour or eating dinner. The food had nice presentation, and had good flavors ... the half chicken tasted like it had baking spices in it which I could have gone without. I need to try more of the dinner menu to determine wow-factor of flavor profiles, but the menu looked scrumptious! Pictured: happy hour oysters, shishito peppers, and fried spring rolls. Dinner menu Draper Valley Half Chicken. Happy hour chicken Satay skewers (from a follow-up visit)
Superb service and food. The view and noise levels were perfect. I'd recommend for brunch or lunch. I never tried it at night but I'm sure it's top notch too!
Good variety of lunch items. Has the Thai beef salad, pretty tasty and a good portion. Mango mojito was to die for. Server was the nicest! Sat upstairs outside with a beautiful view.
I looked for a restaurant with a view and I found so much more than that at Five Spice Seafood downtown Lake Oswego! Delicious food, great selection of local wines and fancy cocktails. The real surprise at the bar is Kelly! He not only prepared the yummy cocktails, he entertained us with his courteous spirit and small talk in Frensh and Intalian!
Beautifully decorated yet cozy place! This restaurant has outdoor heated seating, lounge, bar and regular dining. They have good menu, we loved fish appetizer and entrees. They are also very accommodating for subsitutions, I say that because a few high end restaurants don't quite entertain that! I will be back for outdoor seating with lake views and the happy hour !
Fantastic service by Jennifer the bartender. The food was delicious and presentation was great. Very nice atmosphere as well. Definitely plan to return on my next visit to the area.
Great food and service. Great happy hour options as well as dinner. Lobster is fabulous! Great date place.
Delicious!! From the appetizers to desserts, you will not be disappointed. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. Beautifully designed with wonderful views of the water. Highly recommend for special occasion or romantic evening.
Food was good when I visited a week ago but today I was trying to track down the Patricia Green wine I enjoyed while there and the bar tender was very helpful. Nice to get great service even when you’re not there.
Just get here...for a generous happy hour, fresh everything, and relaxing views of Lake Oswego. The service could be slightly more attentive, however, the satiating experience was worth it!
As usual, Five Spice is one of top restaurants in Lake Oswego and West Linn. As always, kudos to their dishes and services!
Overall, this place was great. The oysters are excellent. Jennifer was our server. She was fantastic. Really love the vibe of this place. My only problem were the scallops. Well seared but under seasoned. I will definitely be back for happy hour.
Treat yourself to delicious seafood, great views of the bay, and exceptional service. Five Spice will not disappoint you.
Sat outside and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the lake. Service was impeccable. Food was creative and flavorful. Order the chocolate souffle ahead of time; it takes a while to make but completely worth it.
Great place to eat and the Happy Hour is to die for! We got here and were seated in the best place on the deck outside! They still accept Happy Hour outside. As you can see by the view its just breath taking. Highly recommended & the service was wonderful!
Beautiful restaurant, professional staff, high quality dishes. Dining on the balcony next to the lake delightful! It is a smaller patio so be sure to make a reservation and request outside ☺️
Wonderful restaurant! Excellent service, excellent food, and a beautiful view out on Lake Oswego a really good wine selection. Sushito peppers were "to die for". The miso cod was also super delicious. Very tender and flaky!
Had a great dinner with family here. Not pretentious but well done food. Nothing breaking the norm although the service was snappy enough and the wine menu is decent.
Absolutely wonderful lunch. Food and service both impeccable The grilled salmon was one of the best I've ever had- my picky palate was so happy! Food was beautifully presented. A best pick for our anniversary celebration - we will be back
Five stars for 5 Spice! We’ve stopped in twice in the past week, and it’s quickly becoming one of our favorite go-to spots in Lake Oswego. This isn’t just a fun place to go—it’s a place with real energy. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, the staff is genuinely friendly, and even the other patrons are a pleasure to be around. Both times we sat at the bar, which is a perfect place to strike up conversations and take in the vibe. The happy hour menu? Fantastic. I had the spring rolls with a bright, flavorful mango sauce that I’m still thinking about, and the calamari came with a deliciously creamy aioli that was spot-on. The cocktail I had was light, sunny, and just right for the warm day—wish I could remember the name, but it was a winner. The menu is fresh, the service is consistently excellent, and let’s not forget the stunning view of the lake—it really elevates the entire experience. Highly recommend 5 Spice whether you’re grabbing a casual drink or settling in for a great meal. It’s a gem.
Really enjoyed our entire experience for dinner here. Service was great, waiter was extremely attentive and friendly and the food was outstanding. Ordered quite a few small plates / appetizers, loved the poke and spring rolls. The Brussel sprouts with pork belly are a must and our favorite entree was the stuffed salmon. We were too full for dessert but need to come back to try!
We had a wonderful dinner here. The squid was good but not spicy. Salads were very great with a variety of materials. The fish stew was very good, The lentil main dish was terrific with a lentil base with roasted vegetables and mushrooms on top. We hadn't visited for some time, but we will be back.
Dined several times, always consistent, very good food and service. Views of lake and plaza are great.
I have been wanting seafood for a while. I am so thrilled that this is where we went. If it wasn't for me on a date I would have taken pictures. The diver scallops were absolutely scrumptious, is the only one eating oysters that evening I was pleased that they were not excessively large. My date had the salmon and said it was perfect. The service was absolutely excellent through appetizer, dinner and dessert. The atmosphere of the restaurants was exceptionally suitable for a date night and the location made it a lovely place to go for a stroll after our dinner.
Excellent service, delicious food and good wine selection. Comfortable outdoor seating with views of the lake. Busy at lunchtime but plenty of seating.
Food was perfectly prepared, delicious from appetizers to dessert! Atmosphere was quiet, we sat next to the bar. Loved the ambiance. Our waiter was the BEST!! Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back many times. This place should be featured as a top restaurant in the US! My thanks to the chef.
Friendly staff. Amazing wine pairings. We tried the holiday menu and it was delicious.
So amazing. Sat out on the patio And while it was only around 60 degrees the table fire centerpiece and overhead heat fixtures kept us toasty. Food was amazing..... comments around the table were "this is the best ______ (fill in the blank) ever" everything was wonderful. Many compliments to the chef, their team and the wait staff.
The Five Spice staff were the best! Happy hour was a real happy hour that has drink and food specials. Sitting out on the veranda watching the sun go down, it was Absolutely beautiful. Having the happy helpful staff made the experience a real nice time. We WILL be back!!!
My wife and I went here for my wife's birthday celebration. I told the receptionist as well as our server that we are celebrating my wife's birthday. Then we did not get the candlelight cake or happy birthday wishes at all. On the cake part was okay because we were full anyway. Only thing was missing Birthday wishes. Other than that everything was good.
Greeted on entry, seated immediately but has reservation for outdoor seating with cute of lake. All shaded seats were taken, a little uncomfortable for some in party. Server was attentive and communicated well. Tasted around the happy hour menu. Beef skewers were a standout. I enjoyed the spring roll though I thought it wouldn't be deep fried.
This is my new find! I give it a 4 star because of the food I had- read on why before you make a decision, but I’d give it a 5 star for location! I want to come here during summer when the weather is nice so I can appreciate some quality time with my friends, good drinks and great conversations overlooking Lake Oswego! But you don’t have to wait, you can still be seated by the window and enjoy your meal with a view! The service was great, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I am adventureous but my stomach is not… so I ordered grilled Salmın but the rice it came with had sweetened sauce in it and it was already in it so I was stuck with it. If you are like me and don’t like to mix your food, you can ask them to lay off the sauce or put it on the side…. And the rice was undercook and crunchy and a nit soggy… The other dish is oyster and clam soup and may friend said it was good. Overall, the lıcation is nice but a bit noisy because of the glads and tall ceilings, it becomes a bit hard to speak and listen, you feel like you have to raide your voice to communicate. One downside for me was they only had filtered coffee… decaf or normal… no cappucino, no espresso… that was a bummer… And oh, I tried their creme brule too…. CopperRiver did a better job for me.. The brule had a burnt and more oily taste and aftertaste in my mouth and the cookies that came with brule was not necessary… I think I would go there for drinks, the view more… Don’t forget this is my opinion, you can give it a go and add to the review! I hope the videos and pictures help. Enjoy….
Great environment and view, I did only get one dish which was the Ahi Poke. It lacks Asian twist and flavor. Coming from someone who is Asian this is very Americanized. It was fresh but just lacked flavor and authenticity
This place has great views of Lake Oswego as it is on the second floor. The shrimp and spring roll appetizers were very tasty. The spring roll sauce is a bit spicy so watch out. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection - nice and golden color which I like to see. Fish was rock fish which I had like this for the first time. It really works and tastes amazing. I finished off with the lovely Lemon Posset. It was nice and lemony as expected but also very smooth and creamy. I could have another one for sure as it was really light. The raspberry coulis was a great choice. Drip coffee was also tasty. In some places unfortunately coffee quality is ignored, which leaves a bad taste in your mouth as you leave-here it was great. Our server was very attentive and helpful. I liked his eye for detail while serving and clearing up. No small mess was left behind. He also adjusted the portions of the starters to be enough for 6 people without us reminding him. Great job! I would gladly visit this restaurant again. It is on my good list of places 😉
We had the pleasure of dining here last night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was exceptional—easily five stars—and the service was flawless from start to finish. The only drawback was the ambient noise level, which made conversation challenging for our party of four. We often found ourselves repeating remarks just to be heard. A subtle addition of white noise might help balance the acoustics and elevate the overall atmosphere. That said, the quality of the meal and service ensures we’ll be back.
A client of mine and her sister and I had lunch there and it was quite pleasant. Our server was prompt and courteous and the food was enjoyable. Regretfully it was raining so we did not get to enjoy a great view of the lake, but that gives us a reason to return.
Swordfish excellent, stir fried veggies excellent, dessert excellent! Coconut shrimp was mediocre- the breading hardly coconut - seemed frozen and was overcooked. The pork belly also over cooked. Our bread was forgotten (but not necessarily). It was nice outside. Overall a good experience. Taylor was attentive and very friendly.
The service was fantastic here but of course it wasn't very busy at 3 p.m. I give three stars because their Moscow mule on happy hour was $8, they said it was handcrafted but seriously it's the worst one I've ever had in my life! The view was nice though. The Portobello fries were delicious as well as the pretzels.
Fair service. Food tasted okay. Great food presentation, though (attached photo: spicy seafood stew). For the atmosphere they're aiming for and the price of their menu, I would've expected a fair amount better. We had the fish and chips, and the spicy seafood stew. The stew isn't actually stew- it's broth type soup. It tasted good, but the majority of the seafood types in it (shrimp, squid, clams, etc) were the consistency of a hard rubber. The fish and chips were a basic batter on the fish, bland, and a very small portion especially compared to the portion of the "stew". It seems strange their main dishes would have such drastic size differences. Feels a bit like drawing straws- not sure when you'll get the short end of the stick. Three stars because it wasn't bad, per se. But nothing I'd go back for, either.
I ordered the spring rolls and stuffed salmon. Overall the food was good but my server was not attentive. Not one time did she ask how was the food or if I needed anything. I literally sat there and waited to see if she would be attentive even when I was finished with my dinner. If the server was more attentive based upon the prices on the menu they would have received 4 stars. I’m not sure if I would return or perhaps I will sit at the bar top :(
The food had good flavor but our lobster tails were overcooked and rubbery. Our waitress was taking so long coming to our table between visits that we were waiting on her the whole meal, which wound up taking nearly two hours. For our drink order, for our drinks, for our food order, for our dessert order. She said it was because she had other tables, but because we had to wait so long, we were one of the last tables and we were still waiting long periods of time on her to come to our table. She was also a little snooty when I'd ask questions, which I didn't understand. For spending $200 for two people, I would expect better service. Really put a damper on what could have been a lovely evening.
We've been here 3 times this summer and it has been hit or miss. I've been here for weekday lunch and Friday dinner. Both times we were impressed by the food (taste and portions), and service. Enjoyed eating indoors at the bar and also on the outdoor patio with great views of the lake. A stellar and unique experience! Based on those prior experiences, I decided to bring my parents here for their anniversary celebration on a Sunday evening and we had a poor experience that one time. I felt totally embarrassed that I brought them here. We were seated with half of our table (and party) in direct sun on the patio - no shade on one side. We were initially given 1 food menu for our entire table and it took 40 minutes for our drinks to come out (just water, sodas, and juice) and over an hour for the complimentary bread to make it to our table. Once the food came, it was all delicious as usual, however. Our server was courteous and helpful when they were available. We really like this place overall, just have gotten inconsistent experiences here. Hard to recommend given the price point and inconsistency, but when it has gone well we've really really enjoyed dining here.
I came here for the first time last week, and the most salient issue I want to comment on is that the whole place smelled like gas. It's in a building with other restaurant tenants, and my party and I smelled it as soon as we entered the building. We hoped it would dissipate as we walked up to the second floor where Five Spice is, but it didn't. I walked around the restaurant and the whole area smelled like gas, and it was even worse by the kitchen, since that had smoke to go along with it. After a while I couldn't smell it anymore, but I don't know if it was gone or I'd just exhausted my ability to smell it. As for the rest of the experience, it was OK. It was kind of loud even though we were in the quietest part of the restaurant. I ordered the ribs, and they were flavorful, as was the rice they came with. They were more charred than I would have liked though.
I love fish & chips (FC) and I've had the Five Spice version before, although it's been about a year. I don't know what was up with the kitchen on Monday, but this was the WORST FC I've ever had. The breading was rubbery--impossible to cut, like the pieces had been reheated in a microwave. It was awful! I should have sent it back, but the Caesar salad had been good and the server was pleasant enough. In the end, I removed the unyielding batter and ate the pretty tasteless fish naked. Take my advice, if you want hot, fresh, flaky FC in Lake Oswego, go to Dullahan's Pub.
Been wanting too try this place for awhile, Hostess was great Sat us with our reservation, but we're completely ignored for 15mins no water no greeting no nothing. Yall were busy, but not that busy not to be at least courteous. SARAH was our waitress was sweet but not prompt. Manager was running around , everyone walked past our table still nothing. Shame on yall! "Im in the industry and would never treat guests like that.. or manage like that... " I am super nice, but this was very upsetting to be charged those prices with crappy service, NOPE!👎👎 Thank Goodness for the food...
3 of us had dinner tonight, Labor Day. The restaurant was not full, and we were seated right next to the kitchen; it was so loud! The staff were talking amongst themselves as if there were no guests nearby and the noise from the kitchen was reverberating. We could have been seated in a quiet area. The food was mediocre, my clams were FULL of sand, and the accompanying bread should have been toasted. Cesar salad was tasteless and very disappointing. I was looking forward to it. To add insult to injury, the server was dreadful. - She reached in front of one of my guests several times to serve others. - Repeatedly referred to us as "you ladies"! - Multiple times she used an old, wet cloth to wipe off crumbs from our place mats; it was uncouth and gross. Bottom line, I would never come back here. This is a great location and has potential for greatness, but I am dubious, given other comments from further back in the years. Five Spice, please step up your game!
