Best ice cream in Lake Placid! No offense to Ben and Jerry's, but Emma's is where it's at. The variety and atmosphere is second to none. Their merch is pretty cool to boot ;-) Highly recommend!
This place gets super busy after dinner, so be cautious. While the line is super long, it goes pretty fast. You are rewarded with dozens of flavors to choose from and all of them being really tasty. My boyfriend got a cookies and creme milkshake that he enjoyed and I got chocolate soft serve, an easy win. The only thing I didn't care for was their macaroons. The earl grey tasted like weed with some citrus flavor and the honey lavender tasted like perfume. I can't knock off a star though becuase you go to a creamery for ice cream and not the other things. Overall pleasant experience!
Holy cow. Quite possibly the best ice cream I've had anywhere. I love ice cream but I try not to eat too much. However after having the Roadrunner Raspberry, which features streaks of raspberry jelly and raspberry-filled chocolates I found myself saying 'yes, let's go!' when my wife suggested we go back the next day. Though there were several delicious-looking flavors I went back to the Roadrunner Raspberry. My wife went with the coffee ice cream, which was also exceptional. One scoop at $5.75 was plenty to fill me up with deliciousness. Though crowded every evening the staff works quickly and is friendly. A must-have on a visit to Lake Placid!
Very friendly staff and insanely large selection! I got one of their hot chocolates flavored with their ice cream. Such an ingenious way to make a unique hot drink. Definitely would recommend stopping in here for a sweet treat while you stroll down Main St.
Great I've cream scoops for the family. Only 4 stars on food as my strawberry malt milk shake was more like flavor milk than a thick milk shake should. Way to thin needed more ice or ice cream.
The place is small and gets crowded. But the ice creams are totally worth the wait. Some unique flavors and the taste is amazing. The staff is very polite and gets your order very fast, so the wait times are much shorter than how it looks when you see the queues.
Long queue on a Saturday afternoon around 6pm, but moved fairly fast. Had the cookie dough regular milkshake, but there was another option that was GINIRMOUS. Classic American. It had an ice cream sandwich hanging off it in addition to extra sweet goodness. Probably 100000000 calories. Our neighbors in line seemed to really enjoy it. The regular milkshake was just fine :)
Absolutely love this place. Personally think it's much better than the Ben & Jerry's down the street. Not sure if I didn't notice before but this year was pleasantly surprised that they have the tipsy scoops. Their choices and selections are absolutely amazing. Everyone can find something that they want. While I love these type of hole in a wall places really wish they were bigger. Really hard to make up your mind what you want when you feel rushed as ever time visiting them they were so busy that you couldn't even get to the counter to look at everything. Nevertheless totally worth it
Got two bubble teas, both delish! Their deserts look insane! Going back later to try those😌
Hit this spot today on our last day of vacation and soooo glad we did! A wonderfull woman with a great friendly personality served us. All I can say is, if you have a hard time making up your mind, this place still not make it any easier! Me, My wife and our doggie all enjoyed. Maple sunday's for life!!!!
Wow. I got the maple soft serve on top of edible cookie dough (chocolate chip flavor). It was totally delicious and totally insane. My thing with ice cream, is that deep down, since childhood, I’ve always fantasized about having a 50-50 ratio between the ice cream and the bits (cookie dough, brownie, etc). Have we all not dreamed of this possibility?! But of course, in the reasonableness of reality, the ratio is normally 90% ice cream and 10% cookie dough. But at this place, by ordering the cookie dough outright with soft serve, you can actually get the 50-50 ratio that we have all been dreaming of. The outcome fulfilled my wildest fantasies, but also left me feeling like a dog that actually caught his own tail.. once achieved, I just didn’t really know what to do with it beyond the first two bites. The first bite was WOW. As was the second, and all the ones that my family picked at. But pretty soon, you realize that it’s actually a lot of (amazing) cookie dough. The maple soft serve would be refreshing on its own, but could barely counter the intense energy of the cookie dough. So, it left me in a strange predicament: I was eating one of the best ice cream creations of my life—achieving a sugary fever-dream that I never thought would actually happen—but I couldn’t finish the darn thing. At the end, I recommend doing this and splitting it with 3-4 people. And be prepared to feel very heavy afterwards.. all in all, amazing experience. Thanks to Emma’s for making my cookie dough dreams come true with a side of maple cream.
Not just an ice cream shop - Emma's has got everything! Fun and nostalgic dessert shop with a huge menu, ranging from shakes to cake to bubble tea, and of course, ice cream. I really like their unique selection of waffle cones, and the ice cream is fantastic! There's also lots of novelty items for sale that you can pick up while you wait in line (and there will be a line).
One of the busiest places in Lake Placid but with good reason! Completely worth the wait! The ice cream was the best I’ve ever had. Don’t bother with Ben and Jerry’s!
Emma's has one of the best maple soft serve ice cream in the state of New York (and my girlfriend and I have been to innumerous non-chain ice cream places). They do serve regular Hershey's ice cream, however, you could get that at any grocery store. Their soft serve and in-house made ice creams are definitely worth a try! For those with puppies, the store is dog-friendly so you don't have to leave your pupper outside and they do have puppy ice cream as well! Highly suggest you to stop by for some refreshing ice cream 🍦🍨
Very skibidi indeed, I got some exuberant bombastic delectable delights from this store. The boba has a big variety to choose from. My personal favorite combo was the sigma ligma tea with gyat tax rizzing boba. Also, their shakes are supreme, you should try a crazy shake. They are so crazy, just like my pet skibidi toilet. Hope this helps!
I’m an nyc boy with an ice cream addiction. Never in my 72 years of devouring thousands of ice crams across the globe have I ever enjoyed one more then Emma’s.
One of the best life cream shops in the north country! They’re a Lake Placid staple and highly recommend visiting while in the area!
I love how passionate is the lady who works there I love the fact that you know the menu she helps you choose she ask you what you prefer plus the vibes of the place the amount of flavours they got of everything the huge sizes they offer if you’re craving for sweets it’s your heaven on earth for what you’re looking for. Can’t wait to come again on my next trip 😍 The milkshake was super delicious 💕
My dad and I stopped here and we enjoyed the maple cremees! The ice cream had a creamy texture and it had a good maple flavor! The sugar cone tasted fresh!
Maple milkshake was so so good! It was creamy with the slightly sweet maple taste. Loved it. Also tried a passion fruit drink and a hot cocoa. My only complain is hot cocoa was not that hot. But it tasted great! They take only a limited number of people inside due to social distancing. But the line goes fast.
This place was DELICIOUS. After having terrible food on the strip, this was definitely a delight. I got the black diamond (hot fudge and hot caramel sundae) with caramel toffee ice cream and it was absolutely superb. I finished the entire thing. My boyfriend had moose tracks in a waffle bowl and it was awesome as well!! Overall prices and atmosphere were great. If you're going, don't expect a place to sit because the place is super small, so plan to eat it outside. The staff were incredibly friendly. Great place!
Best ice cream! A must if your in lake placid! Had a cookie sandwich with cannoli topping and soft serve in middle! Love this place! I went twice in two days! Black assort serve is delicious! 😋
Worth the wait in line! So hard to chose what to get since they have sooo many choices! Had soft serve maple creme that was fabulous. Great milkshake too!
Delicious ice cream with humongous servings ! The place was packed when we went, but they did their best to only allow a couple parties in at a time and the line moved fairly fast. Even in the winter people are lining down the sidewalk to enjoy ice cream from here ! If you're looking for an extra treat this oreo milkshake did not let me down!
WOW. This is a regular sundae! HUGE and delicious!! All for only $10.24! This’s their Maple Monkey sundae; maple soft serve, vanilla soft serve, local maple syrup, caramel, with fresh, hot monkey bread below! Fudge below that. So big it comes with a fork & spoon. Friendly advice; bring a friend (or two). Very friendly staff, really cool decor, LOTS of choices!
There was a line of people waiting for the 1:00 pm opening time. The 2 staff members quickly and efficiently filled all the orders. The maple creme soft serve is divine. For a fun time, try to sit at one of the tables in the window and watch all the fabulous ice cream creations get delivered. It's joyful for each person.
Stopped in with my wife for a cone. First time here. Didn't see much hard ice cream that looked good to me. Went with the chocolate moose bits. A nice lady there said it was the best and I'd love it. I told her we'll see what I think when I post this review. Turns out she was right. Five star ice cream and waffle cone. My wife had the sugar cone with brown butter bourbon ice cream and she loved it. We both went back the next day for another. If you are in Lake Placid you really should try Emma's.
So many delicious choices! We try and stop when we're in the area. Over our visits we've enjoyed a few of the loaded shakes, including cookie dough loaded shake and the Oreo one abd both were awesome. The shop is tiny and it's a tight squeeze getting in and to the end of the line, especially when it's busy, but it moves fast and is an awesome ice cream shop for treats that are *extra*
Emma's Lake Placid Creamery is an absolute gem! The ice cream is incredibly rich and flavorful, with a great selection of unique and classic flavors. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. The cozy atmosphere adds to the charm, and you can tell they put a lot of care into their products. Whether you're visiting Lake Placid or a local, this is a must stop spot for a sweet treat. Highly recommend the maple waffle ice cream sandwich it's amazing!
This tiny hole-in-the-wall counter service restaurant has endless dessert options plastered all over their wall and flyers around the countertop. There is often a line here, which speaks to the popularity and quality of their products. We had a sundae and an ultimate shake, go big or go home! Highly recommend.
The maple cream soft serve is genuinely the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my entire life. It paired so well with the toffee waffle cone! 100000/10!
We love this place! The feel of an old fashioned ice cream shop and the great taste you would expect. Every time we visit the line of people never stops. That’s sure sign it’s worth the wait!
Love this Ice Cream place. It's a must every night of vacation for my kids. You can get something different. Ice cream, hot chocolate, Boba, monkey bread, cookie dough, waffle iced cream sandwiches. The lines can be long but they are worth the wait. Beware, if you get a sundae, they are huge! 3 scoops! Good service and great atmosphere. Everybody in line is nice and bonded over all the options and knowing it's worth the wait.
100% worth it despite chilly, windy day with snow on the ground, town full of people attending the eclipse and a line that starts outside and doubled inside the small shop. Advantage of standing in line allows you to view many of the options available that people were ordering. Some of it honestly looks like delicious art work and I wanted to sample all of them.😋😄 In addition to ice cream they sell, slices of cheesecake, ice cream cakes, mochi, Whoopi pies and other items. There are also some novelty items and sweet treats for sale. Not ideal for disabled using transport devices. Parking is available on the street. Those serving were notably calm, unstressed and methodically gave each order individual attention. Don't think about the calories 🫤 Be sure to stop in to satisfy your sweet tooth. You will be not be disappointed.
This place is almost always busy with long lines but my wife wanted the maple soft serve. She wanted it with the wet walnuts but was told they were unable to do that so at least they put them in a cup where my wife had to scoop out and put on her ice cream with a spoon. I wanted a simple banana milkshake and was told they do not have fresh bananas or any fruit for that matter. Personally, I have never heard of an ice cream place not having bananas as I thought they all serve some version of a banana split. So, I got a PB milkshake which was just okay, not the best, as they advertise, and honestly, Stewarts makes a better shake. All in all passable if you are really hankering for ice cream. They just didn't have exactly what we wanted. Also, I know it has been like this for years but the situation of the line, the way you have to go all the way to the back, and how crowded it gets in there is awful and I can't believe they have never figured out a way to improve that. There is barely enough room for one line, let alone another one that trails out onto the sidewalk. Not to mention, you have to stay in there and wait for your order, which makes it even more crowded. Not a good setup at all.
The ice cream is fantastic. And the other options — shakes, sundaes, etc. — are amazing too. I gave four stars, not five, because the staff was surprisingly sour and gruff. Not rude, not nasty, just curt and not apparently happy to see customers, which is a little off-putting for a place that styles itself as an old-fashioned ice cream shop in a vacation destination. Still, overall, a great place.
Macrons we’re amazing!! Went back twice more for them! Ice cream was very good as well. My partner loved the peanut butter and jelly sundae!! The only short coming of this place would be the waiting area. This was was packed, which is expected for it being so good. But the waiting area is crammed and the line to get in, some people just line up out the door rather than walk down the aisle to have it wrapped.
We stopped here Saturday night just after 8, and the line was out the door. I think by the time we got through it was almost 9. My husband got a s'mores sundae and I got a cookie dough ice cream sandwich. I wanted one of those waffle ice cream sandwiches but those things were massive and there was no way I was going to be able to eat one, let alone get my mouth around one, but they looked delicious. My husband wanted a crazy cookie dough sundae but they had run out of those. By the time we left the line was not only out the door but down the street. We both really enjoyed what we got and the service was good for how busy it was. No complaints. We would come back again.
Huge array of ice cream and ice cream based goodies. The ice cream is very good. But last time we went we decided to test out their claim to the best milkshakes in town. Unfortunately I find Stewart's milkshakes to be better and a lot cheaper. Emmas is made with soft serve and a lot of syrup. I bet they would've been much better had they used some of their own hard ice cream rather than soft serve. But Emma's hard ice cream is definitely delicious!
Really good ice cream, really rich though didn’t finish the whole cone. They don’t have smaller sizes which is a little less than ideal. There is almost always a long line up until 8:00 when the shop closes. Nothing to be upset about because the shop is always lit up and enjoyable to look at all the over-the-top decor.
I love it here. The line is always out the door but it's worth the wait. Since the other ice cream spots in the village closed, this is the go to place. I love the ambiance here; it's like going back in time. Their ice cream is freshly made and it's super creamy. I always love trying new flavors and trying their new options. I can't wait to stop back in soon.
I liked the vibe and atmosphere! It felt like they've been around for long time and they were really fast to attend the waiting line! There was no tasting and majority of flavors were either mixed with chocolate chips or chocolate, the fruity flavors were limited. We ordered scoop of Raspberry roadrunner and Raspberry Dark Chocolate! It was decent but nothing too exciting.
So much variety. It's a heaven for all the dessert lovers. I haven't tried much, but I can say for sure this is the best place in Lake Placid to enjoy the ice creams and all the sweet stuff. The staff was efficient and friendly. Though they don't have a sitting area but there are plenty of benches nearby to sit and enjoy their delicious ice creams and desserts.
Pretty decent local ice cream shop which serves a variety of shakes, smoothies, and even bubble tea! Though it’s advertised as a pet-friendly location on search engines like BringFido, when asked for a “pup cup” (vanilla ice cream with a doggy treat), the cashier literally stared at me with a blank expression. I guess it’s only dog-friendly in the sense that you can take your pet with you in the store, but don’t expect stellar customer service here.
We stopped at Emma's for a sweet treat (milkshakes and cookie dough). While the food was good the line was very long, they where out of many options (some flavors, crazy shakes and cannolis ) all of which are listed as featured items on their sign. After stopping once we decided it wasn't worth the wait to stop again.
It's an okay establishment, with decent homemade ice cream, however, the lack of an efficient system for ordering causes a bit of chaos and unnecessarily long lines. Update: Just visited during ski season and they change out their flavors to reflect a change in the seasons...well done and cheers! The long lines of summer are gone and you get to enjoy the experience...it’s worth a visit. Enjoy.
Small quaint establishment! Wouldn't recommend during busy periods as the wait will be long. I ordered the tiramisu milk shake and wasn't impressed. It tasted okay. My bf ordered the maple and raspberry soft serve and he loved it. The portions are huge and the prices fit the portion. The aesthetics of the store is cute and a bit vintage. I wouldn't visit again bc it wasn't remarkable.
This was my family’s first time visiting Lake Placid AND Emma’s. We have been here vacationing for a week and I decided on our last day we’d go to Emma’s for dessert as all of the photos I had seen of desserts specifically their beautifully crafted milkshakes (so I thought) looked not only delicious but, very aesthetically pleasing as well. They had appeared to be handcrafted so flawlessly that I had anticipated going all throughout the day. Well, we go inside and we are greeted by a younger guy with a smiling face and patience of a saint considering it took me bouncing back and forth between a few menu items before ultimately making a decision. Another person I. Our party had ordered promptly and was very clear about what he wanted. He received his order and it was incorrect. The person who made the sundae (not the first guy I spoke of) was extremely rude when asked if it could be corrected (before it even left his hands) he refused and said if he wanted it corrected he needed to pay for ANOTHER sundae even though it wasn’t our wrong doing but it was his. He accepted the ice cream despite the error and just decided to deal with it instead of trying to get his correct order. I ordered the strawberry cheese Milkshake. Now the milkshake was just like the photos I saw but, he ice cream was absolutely disgusting. The milkshake tasted freezer burnt and the cheesecake slice they provided was also freezer burnt. While I know this is a highly sought out venue in lake placid our first experience was anything but good. I wish I could’ve been writing a great review but I needed to tell the truth. I can’t speak for other staff members or this locations other dessert’s but, what we dealt with today and what we received was just awful. I would like to end it with “I’ll be visiting this place again soon” but then I’d be lying because I’ll never forget how we were treated and what we were served. Also for those that are frequent visitors I have heard from locals that the man i mentioned is usually of a rude demeanor and that they’ve also received “bad ice cream”, so while others may have had a wonderful experience, my family did not.
No samples. When asked if they have samples the owner said no, all is good and we would just have to trust him. We ordered three scoops of banana pudding flavor on waffle cone. Ice cream was ok. Nothing spectacular (Hershey Ice Cream I believe I seen sign say). The bad was the cone. It tasted as if it was a week old. Price too high for what we got. Just down road a little was Ben and Jerry’s. Always prefer to support a local business but attitude and bad cone was a turn off to be honest.
Less of an ice cream shop and more of a cave that has ice cream in it. Adults seem to run the shop so ice cream is slung at incredible speeds to the customers. A friendly lady asks you for absurd tips after you order, which is actually a good thing because it takes your mind off of smelling what everyone else in line had for their last meal. I recommend getting your receipt at the end. The employees are so committed to speed that fixing orders is a low priority, like when I buy 2 scoops but get 1.
One of the best ice creams I have ever had – super smooth and yummy! I loved the vibe. Although they don't offer tastings, the visits are definitely worthwhile. The waffle cone was also great. The place is small, so it's not ideal for sitting and dining. The only downside was the attitude of the lady who was serving – she was very rude, annoying, and seemed quite irritated, even to the extent of being racially insensitive. I'm not sure why, but her behavior really dampened our overall experience of the place.
The ice cream here is not made in-house and if it is, it is not stored properly as my ice cream had freezer burn from improper storage. They offered no sampling and the line for ordering needs to be better managed. Only after walking around did i discover many other options for dessert along the Main Street.
I think this place is rated pretty well mainly for it's retro vibes/aesthetics. Food was below average. Would not recommend the pistachio ice cream, tasted more like vanilla with some pistachio bits. Chocolate moose track was ok. Their milkshakes were slightly better, got the iced hot cocoa and the vanilla classic. Probably not worth the calories & sugar though.
Been to Emma’s at least once a year since they opened. This year we went and got our usual milkshakes. They were soo watery and not think like they use to be, def not worth the $9. Lady working the counter asking for tips is a little wild as well.
It was overpriced, and the staff was very curt. Nine dollars for a sundae that was swirled in a way to create a hollow center, and they had the nerve to toss a spoon at you if you wanted another dismissively. Wow. It's a crazy line for nothing special, up charging for hard ice cream when it's highly processed Hershey’s. They're one of the only games in town, so they get a considerable buffer, but I wouldn't say I liked it all.
Ordered ice cream with a group. The older gentleman took our order and was quite rude. Not quite sure what was his problem but he was rude. He wasn’t very accommodating maybe he doesn’t like asian or whatever. He was nice with other people. I was quite offended actually. Worst experience so far on my vacation. Ice cream was good bur the experience isn’t.
THIS WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS ICE CREAM IVE EVER HAD. BUT!!! I felt that the staff was over worked. They were rude and snappy. Like, let me order my ice cream in peace! I went up to a old, short woman and asked, "Are you Emma?" She scoffed and responded, "No, I'm a senior minion." (NO JOKE) WHATTTTTT!?!?! RUDEEEEEEE The lady in the front was the worst
Spent $25 for two hot cocoas with extra toppings, one had two small balls of cookie dough and the other a small brownie square. The price wouldn't have been too bad if the hot cocoa didn't taste like watered down powdered hot cocoa mix. I could easily make better at home with powdered mix. Also super cluttered and hard to figure out what is on the menu.
Don’t get me wrong. Their ice cream is good (except the watermelon dole), but the staff is so rude and this place is super expensive. Asked for a sample and they said no we don’t do that. If I’m paying almost 8 dollars for ice cream, I would expect to get a sample at least. I’d rather go to Stewart’s and get my moneys worth.
Staff is so rude today. I ordered a butter pecan and the pecan was not good in taste, the ice cream was tasting bad, it’s not like we never had it before but this time it was not good so I talked the girl she said this is how we make it. We can not do anything on it. And they were behaving like we got are money now we don’t know you and you don’t know us. So it was very bad
