Every time we go to lake placid we go to Jimmys for dinner. Great Italian restaurant with amazing food. The view alone of mirror lake is beautiful. My girls love their pasta and meatballs. Every time I go, I try something new. Haven’t received any bad meal from them yet. This time I got their lasagna and it taste almost as good as my grandma’s homemade. If planning a trip to lake placid, definitely check out jimmys 21.
Genuinely enjoyed the food here. Very busy on the weekends but service was still quick and food was so good! Ordered the mussels for an app-they were super tasty!!! Got the eggplant Parmesan and make your own pasta with vodka sauce for dinner. Both were super delicious. We were so sad that we were too full for dessert. Generous potions.
We asked for lake side tables, and the waiter asked if we could wait 15 minutes for them. The view was beautiful. The lasagna was very good, excellent sauce and meat. The salmon was excellent. The service was very good. The only complaint was a few loud customers, which they had no control of. This was our third visit and we plan on returning.
Jimmy's has a bunch of seating, all with great views of Mirror Lake. I tried their summer blueberry lemonade cocktail and it was really good. Like many places along the lake, the drinks are pretty expensive (here it was $16), but it tasted so good that I wasn't too mad. My boyfriend and I both started with the lobster bisque which was a good way to warm up. It also tasted great. He selected the half duck as his entree, and the taste was there, but it was a little dry. I got the short ribs and they were terrific. I would definitely order again. We will definitely come back when we make a trip here again!
Fantastic restaurant! Waterfront views of Mirror Lake combined with a great win list and classic homemade Italian cooking. Also central to many things in the city - hotels, other restaurants, shops, etc. The restaurant can get pretty busy on weekends and during peak seasons, but if you get there early in the evening you should have no problem getting a waterfront view.
Amazing food, service & environment! The food was hot, fresh, and so authentic. I had the linguine & clams in the garlic white wine sauce, it was incredible. My boyfriend had Jimmys Meatballs and he said they were the best meatballs he’s ever had. Definitely recommend when visiting. The owner really knows how to run a restaurant!! And the staff were so friendly.
The lobster is phenomenal! The steak was amazing! Incredible service. Great atmosphere. Coming from someone who doesn’t take the time to write reviews… 5 stars!!! We will be back every time we are in town. Fantastic job to the entire staff on a very busy night.
Best chicken parm I've ever had. Always delicious and fresh. Totally worth the $. My husband always gets something different and it's so good everytime.
My husband and I Went here for dinner Overlooking Mirror lake. They were able to accommodate us quickly even without reservations, and the server was extremely kind and service was quick, made dining with our three month old an stress-free experience . Patio has fire pits and heaters for chilly evenings. It was very comfortable.
Perfect service, delicious food. Boyfriend and I loved it. Thanks to our waiter who accommodated my dietary specifications. Amazing steak n salad!!! A+!
Nice place for mainly Italian food in Lake Placid. Service was good as was the food. Best to have a reservation because lots of places in Lake Placid/Saranac Lake area have closed for the year by early October.
Excellent Italian restaurant in Lake Placid, NY. The food and service were both excellent. Views of Mirror Lake are a plus as well. Reservations are definitely needed as it's very popular.
Me and my family went to Jimmys tonight and the view was fantastic and to put it simply it was the best dining experience we have ever had everybody that passed by made sure everything was good not just our waiter and i appreciated how after our appetizer they waited a bit before bringing out or dinners because we had time to talk everything was hot and delicious Jimmys will be a must go to when we come back again
We had a fantastic late night dinner here last night. We had a view of the lake and enjoyed the food, cocktails, and appetizers. The level of service was unexpectedly superb. They far exceeded our expectations.
A good and popular Italian restaurant, on the main street of the town. A classic Italian menu of starters, first courses and main courses with a variety of pastas, fish and seafood, different types of meat and salads. The dishes are very tasty and there are gluten-free options. It is not possible to reserve a place and the accommodation and seating is managed by the owner. The restaurant is divided between 2 floors and the design is faithful to the 80s of the last century.
I'm a sucker for good Italian and at 53 years of age only two or three Italian restaurants really stuck out in my mind as the best of the best. Then we went to Jimmy's 21 in Lake Placid NY. The wine selection was great! A nice pairing of Chanti with our meals and we were good to go. All the cuisine is scratch made and I believe this is the oldest restaurant in Lake Placid. The flavors were so delicious my stomach was full after appetizers but the entrees were so fantastic, I couldn't help myself. Appetizers that I highly recommend: the meatballs (best I ever had) and the baked oysters. Both melt in your mouth good! The Caesar salad with anchovies was a solid A+ as was my wife's Lobster bisque! The main entrees were huge portions! The Veal ala Jimmy's and the Veal Sorrentino were amazing! The Veal was melt in your mouth tender and the flavor was a wow! Finished with a scratch made tiramisu that was light and delicious. Then had to roll out of there. Absolutely amazing cuisine and the ambience on the deck overlooking Mirror lake was gorgeous. Highly recommend!!
Jimmy’s 21 came recommended by a friend for our trip to Lake Placid. We stopped for dinner around 7:15 pm on a Tuesday. Our friend did tell us to make reservations, which we did not do. We went in and it was about a 15 minute wait. We were asked if we wanted inside or the patio and as it was late for us to be eating dinner we asked for the first available seating. We were seated on the first floor patio. I was a little nervous because it was chilly outside, but they were prepared. There were two fire pits, heaters on the ceiling, and plexiglass all around the railing. The waiter took our order and checked on us several times. My husband had the filet and I had the steak. Both were delicious. I could not finish mine, as it was so big. I do not like pink in my meat and they cooked this to perfection! Asparagus was delicious! I was very full but had to try the homemade Tiramisu. I was only going to have a few bites but ate the entire piece. The overall atmosphere was so nice, especially sitting on the lake with the view at dusk! Highly recommend Jimmy’s 21!
We came to Jimmy’s 21 for New Year’s Eve with our family and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was festive, the food was delicious, and the service was attentive and friendly. It was the perfect spot to celebrate the holiday together, and we’ll definitely be back!
We came in for lunch after a hike and got the best seat in the house, table for two in front of the lake view window. I mention this because sometimes incredible views in touristy areas mean overpriced and underwhelming food..this was not the case, from the old fashioned my husband ordered, to the calamari to the burgers, everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Realistically from a pricing standpoint it is what you’d expect to pay for a meal anywhere nowadays regardless of quality. I love to see restaurants over deliver, definitely recommend the calamari with marinara and black and blue burger!
We stopped in for lunch on a busy day in Lake Placid. Other restaurants had a long wait but the staff here were very friendly and quickly seated us. Lunch was great and we enjoyed a beer with our meal.
This restaurant should have an overall better average score. Our server was highly attentive. The food was delicious. We had the shrimp cocktail (fresh large shrimp), the caprese (delicious tomatoes), and the seared Halibut. Wonderful food and a great view over Mirror Lake when eating on the deck.
Great place to eat. The view outside on the top or lower lever are absolutely awesome. Thier red sauce.... Is excellent. Overall well be going back here when I return in the fall. Had the lasagna and it was excellent! Service was awesome, waiters came around very often seeing if you needed anything.
Were rushed because we needed to get to an event so didn't have the full meal experience. But staff was great at expediting us just having entrees, which were very good (lasagna and special shrimp en croute). Hoping to go back for the full dining experience.
THE best place for dinner in Lake Placid and it is right on the strip! I got a GLUTEN FREE and TREE NUT Free Chicken Picatta with GF past and it was divine! My boyfriend got the lamb and said it was the best meal he had in a long time. We ended the meal with the most amazing Creme Brulee that was so good we went two nights in a row and ate it! Their wine selection is very good too and we shared a bottle of red. The bartender/waiter Zike is so friendly and accommodating with food allergies. I even got to put Hallmark Christmas movies on the tv at the bar since we were the only ones there! WOO HOO!
Probably my favorite restaurant of my visit. It’s a bit more expensive so fair warning but overall the food quality was worth it. I got the Penne à la Vodka pasta and the sauce was honestly the best vodka cream sauce I’ve had! The only downside is the dish was 25 dollars and you had to pay 8 dollars extra for meatballs but they were good so in this case I got what I paid for and was happy with it overall. For dessert, I had a chocolate chip cannoli and it was nice and flaky and honestly the perfect end to the meal. If you want some good Italian food overlooking mirror lake, I’d definitely recommend Jimmy’s.
Spent a few days in lake placid, this was by far the best meal we had and the service was top notch. Srdan was the best server we had during our time in Placid, he was great to chat with.
What a good quality and family oriented/vibe Italian Restaurant. I highly recommend calling for a reservation due to how quickly the seats get filled and I understand why it’s busy. The food tastes fresh and made with care. Their Burrata was the best thing I tasted since the last time I’ve been to Italy. If you are a big fan of ravioli and lobster, please get the lobster ravioli as it as delicious and melted like butter especially that sauce…exquisite. They gluten free pasta available that was incorporated with the bolognese sauce was literally one of the best bolognese we had in a long time. Despite it being busy, the service was consistently good and took care of everyone. Lake side part of the seating will be beautiful during the day but at night it is still something to look at.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! Our Airbnb host recommended Jimmy's for dinner. From the moment we entered, the service was excellent. Zeke was amazing, and ensured we had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and the views of Mirror Lake were gorgeous. We can't recommend Jimmy's enough. Our last night in LP was memorable and left us wanting to return thanks to Jimmy's. ASK FOR THE ESPRESSO MARTINI - it's not on the menu but it's the best in town.
One of the best italian food we had in our recent times. To start off their bread and the olive oil dressing was amazing. The bread was perfectly baked, with a crisp crust and soft, airy interior that soaked up the olive oil beautifully. The olive oil dressing was rich and flavorful, with a smooth, velvety texture and a delicate balance of herbs and spices, making each bite irresistible The rigatoni vodka was flawless, with perfectly al dente pasta coated in a rich, creamy sauce .The balance of the tomato and vodka was spot on, with a subtle kick that complemented the smoothness of the sauce, creating a luxurious, savory flavor in every bite. The salmon was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, yet tender and flaky inside, with a subtle seasoning that let the natural flavor shine. The asparagus was crisp and vibrant, providing a fresh, earthy balance, while the mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery, with a velvety smooth texture that brought the dish together beautifully. However this place is a bit on high end coming to the pricing. Only for this two dishes and a mock-tail it was 80$. Wish they had a bit lower prices, 26$ for a rigatoni pasta with no meat is way too expensive.
Had a seriously amazing experience here... They fit us in even though they were busy, and you could tell they genuinely wanted to make it work for us. We got amazing recommendations when we asked for meal options, and am so glad we asked because what we chose was GREAT!! Food was incredible, service was out of this world, and we had a covered patio table with a beautiful beautiful view. We were so comfortable. Spoke to the owners again after the meal and they were so incredibly generous and kind, even helping us get out of the rain and our car. I will never come to Lake Placid without visiting Jimmy's.
I had a trout with mashed potatoes and asparagus and it was very good. My husband had pasta Alfredo and it had absolutely no taste. He also took a house salad and didn’t like it. So it really depends. Tiramisu was pretty average to my taste. We both liked the bread with olive oil they provide as appetizers! And of course the view was fantastic!
My daughters went here and said the food was delicious and the atmosphere was clean and friendly. But what was so great about this place was that my daughter left her wallet there without knowing it. One of the employees, Zaid, found it and took the time to call her college from her school ID to get a phone number and called to let us know her wallet was there. My daughter was 4 hours away by then so he mailed it back to her, and didn't even want money for the postage! What true kindness and honesty which is a rare find. Very glad to recommend such a fine establishment!
Had a great dinner there tonight. Had a summer bees cocktail. It was delicious. Crab cake and calamari was good. Scallops were the best I have had. Fresh pasta was good. Lobster ravioli could be better. Service was good but the way people are seated is a bit strange. Only negatives was that it was pricey but the view made it worthwhile. The music they placly is horrendous and Very strange.
We went there for hiking in Lake Placid and got recommended this restaurant from my friend. The food was so good, every dishes we had was delicious. I got the seafood medley and the shrimps were huge, scallops were fresh and tasty. The staff was nice and helpful. Would recommend everyone to try!
July 2025: My husband and I were visiting the Adirondacks area and were walking the downtown strip in Lake Placid looking for a place to have dinner. My husband walked into Jimmy's and asked a gentleman working there if they had any reservations open. The place was PACKED on a Tuesday night. The man responded, "when do you want to come in?" My husband said "in 40 minutes?" The man responded, "see you at 7!" Turns out, the man was none other than Jimmy himself! We were seated at a table on the patio overlooking beautiful Mirror Lake. The service was impeccable- we were literally treated like family. Everything we ate was outstanding and we couldn't have asked for a better dining experience! We believe that Jimmy's being family owned and operated is what made the experience stand out above the rest.
Vodka pasta and lobster ravioli were very good! So was the bread and the oil to start. We would recommend saying yes to Parmesan for the vodka pasta. We just wish the food was a little warmer when it came out. It was sort of warm, but not hot by any means. There was also a short black hair deep in the vodka pasta…so it’s probably been there for a while. All and all, a very lovely night! Would go again and order the same thing in a heartbeat!
went for a birthday dinner, never been in all the years here in the Adirondacks. it did not disappoint. Had the meatball appetizer, meatball was homemade, nice little marinara sauce and cheese on top. We also had the lobster bisque, very rich and creamy like you want in a bisque, lobster was a little light but tasty soup. The lasagna was a giant slab, easily two to three meals. great Italian taste. i had linguine with red clam sauce, pasta was fresh, clams were little neck and tasty. Excellent pasta fare here. service was great, atmosphere perfect for birthdays and special occasions.
Picked up some takeout to fuel up for tomorrow's Lake Placid marathon at Jimmy's 21. It was only simple plain pasta that we ordered, but the food came out super fast. We waited less than five minutes for the pasta. We'll have to come back here for a full sit-down meal the next time. We were super impressed with the service, and the pasta was great!
Where to begin?? I am a pretty harsh critic when it comes to food and doubly spoiled having lived in NYC for the last 16 years or so, so when I travelled to Mirror Lake for my honeymoon last week I didn’t have the absolute highest expectations from the local Italian place my wife had booked for us. Well I can take my prissy spoiled NY attitude and shove it because this was hands down some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life, not just Italian, but ever. Our first night, overlooking the scenic frozen lake with fantastic service and atmosphere, we both had surf and turf with a fried calamari appetizer. We ordered some side sauces that were extraordinary but honestly you didn’t need them at all. The steak was perfectly cooked, the asparagus beautifully tasty and crispy on the ends, with a seasoned delicious healthy serving of lobster tail. I may have had a bit too much of the appetizer or something because this was the first time in my life I wasn’t able to finish the filet. Fantastic portions. Paired with a delicious bottle of wine, we’re both still raving over it. I actually asked my wife to cancel our reservation two nights later so we could come back a second time where I was treated to the most fantastic frutti di mare I’ve ever had, hands down. I’ve sampled Italian restaurants all over and nothing has even come close to how hearty and delicious this food was, and I’m so pissed I will have to wait until next year to come back. If you’re visiting lake placid and you’re craving Italian, this is the only place you ever need to even consider.
A nice restaurant for lunch or dinner at Lake placid with a great atmosphere and amazing service. May be a little busy but it’s worth the food. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and french onion soup and lemme tell you the soup will change your life. For the entree, we got scallops which were also very delicious. Parking may be difficult as there are only a few street parking spots outside the restaurant but there are public parking lots down the road as well. All in all we had a great time at Jimmy’s and we would definitely eat there again in the future.
While vacationing up in Lake Placid (visiting from Long Island) We had such a fantastic dinner at Jimmy’s 21 - truly one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and from the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful — super friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations. To start we had the crab cake and their meatballs- the meatballs were deeeeelicuous!!! Then, we ordered the specials that night: Steak Diane and Branzino. Both were out of this world. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, and the Branzino was fresh, light, and beautifully prepared. To top it all off, we finished with tiramisu and cappuccinos — the perfect ending to a perfect meal. The tiramisu was rich and creamy without being too sweet, and the cappuccinos were smooth and strong, just like in Italy. The owner came by to check on us, and he was honestly one of the nicest people we’ve met — so genuine and clearly passionate about his restaurant. You can feel the love and pride in everything at Jimmy’s. If you’re in Lake Placid and craving amazing Italian food, do not miss this spot. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!
Downtown style Italian eatery on main street Lake Placid. Quaint, cozy, and a menu full of comfort food; Jimmy's is my first stop for a hungry crowd. I had the veal scaloppini a la Jimmy. The veal was tender, the mushrooms were delicious, and the pasta sauce was excellent (although a bit loose, see photo). I would definitely order it again. Seafood pasta looked like the winner at my table. Great appetizers for sharing. Lowest floor great for a private party.
7/24/25 Ruined by being eaten alive by mosquitoes on the terrace! Eat inside! Jimmy’s salad was good. Baked oysters were very good. Lobster ravioli was great! Manhattan was good. Lake view was very nice. Our server, Annette, was perfect! Attentive but not overly. Helpful. Cheery. Perfect! Just don’t eat outside. Two hours later I have covered my legs and arms in anti itch lotion and have scratched them raw. Sorry if this affects your appetite, don’t let it, the food and service are very good.
Visited jimmys during the off season. Was very quiet and elegant dinning. The service and staff were quick and friendly. The food was excellent and hot. The reason why I’m giving 4 stars is cause the pricing for the proportions is not valid. This is also taking in account for a tourist town and prices were assumed to be higher. Other than that I would go again.
Please follow us on Facebook at SNDTravels. Nice dinner in Lake Placid at Jimmie's 21. We asked several locals about were to eat and this was on everyone's list. Set on the lake with three stories of patio views, this Italian ristorante has great ambiance. We started with the calamari upon the servers recommendation. Very lightly breaded and tender it was a good choice. We love calamari and this did not disappoint. Diane had the seafood medley that included salmon, shrimp, scallops with a white wine lemon garlic sauce. She was very pleased and said everything was cooked perfectly. I had the veal marsala, again on the servers suggestion saying they spend extra on the veal to insure the best cuts. The veal was very lightly breaded and plentiful. Once again, everything was cooked correctly including the mushrooms and very good pasta. I did feel the dish needed more flavor to make it pop but as long as they cook it right, flavoring can be fixed. The bread and olive oil they brought out to start with was also fresh and yummy. I would try it again.
Had my birthday dinner here, service was attentive and the views from the outdoor seating area were beautiful. The food on the other hand could’ve been A LOT better. We ordered the calamari for appetizer, which on the menu states “for two” and they were ridiculously dry and chewy.. the portion was definitely not for two and it was difficult to eat anyway. my boyfriend ordered the ribeye medium temp and it came out well done. I had the lobster tail and ribeye which were seasoned well and cooked at the right temperature but nothing out of this world.
One of the top restaurants in the Lake Placid area and a must visit. The service was really good. Our server checked up on us periodically and made sure we were looked after. They were very accommodating with seating. Keep in mind, I was there on a weeknight so that might not be possible when the restaurant is much busier on the weekends but I know they will try. We sat outside and they had a fire going so we weren’t cold. The food was amazing except for the lobster bisque. I found the lobster bisque to be average. The Frutti Di Mare was so good though. Lots of seafood and the portion was massive. Prices are on the high end and there is a 3% charge for paying with credit card.
First off, look at the view. That was taken while sitting at our table. I didn't have to get up or ask anyone to move. The second pic shows that everyone has the same view. Amazing. The food was outstanding. I'll start with my only food criticism. My mashed potatoes were served ice cream scoop style and not only could they have made the presentation better, the temperature was just slightly under warm, not hot. My salmon was not only cooked perfectly but had amazing flavor. I don't typically order seafood as I don't like it that much but someone else was buying and I had a big lunch. So, if it wasn't that good, no big deal. Well, I finished every bite. They nailed it. I was stuffed. But, when I heard Tartufo was available for dessert, I had to go for it. I am glad I did. It was cut into quarters, which surprised me, but that made it very easy to eat. They included fresh strawberries and blueberries along with a raspberry paste on the plate edge. I would have liked more of that as it paired perfectly with the Tartufo. So, why only 3 stars for service. We ordered mozzarella sticks and meatballs as appetizers. They never came and it really wasn't super busy. We were seated without a wait. When dinner showed up, we inquired and they said 2 minutes. They obviously forgot to do them. Instead of being honest, they must have gone right back to the kitchen and did a hurry up order. It was five to six minutes before they arrived. So, we ate them with our dinner. Oddly, for being an Italian restaurant, the meatballs were just ok. I've made it better at home and my Italian Grandmother's would make them look pale. The mozzarella sticks were hand dipped chunks of cheese cooked perfectly and covered in a nicely seasoned marinara. Very nice. When we received the bill, not only did they not comp the appetizers, but they didn't even give us any small courtesy credit. Shame on them for not making a small gesture for their mistake. Other than that, a great meal with a stunning view. We will see you again next time we are in Lake Placid.
Nice place if you’re looking for a waterfront dining experience. 3 different outdoor seating areas I think. Food was ok, American Italian, don’t expect the real the thing, skip the bread, just simply not good. The meatballs were very tender and tasty, but why the cheese on top? That ruined it. And $16 for 2 small meatballs is a bit steep. Looking at the food at other tables, the plates looked very nice, and good portions. Nice wine list and cocktails menu. Attentive friendly staff. Would probably go back for a full meal, only had appetizers and wine to enjoy the sunset on the water.
We visited Jimmy’s Ristorante in Lake Placid and had a mixed experience. We ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana, Cajun Chicken Sandwich, Fettuccini Alfredo, and French Onion Soup. The food was decent — the pasta was just okay, nothing particularly memorable. The highlight of the visit was definitely the outdoor seating with a beautiful view, which made for a pleasant dining atmosphere. Service was fine and the location is great for a relaxed meal with a nice backdrop.
October 2025: we came in on a quiet Sunday night for dinner and were generally pleased with our experience. We were greeted promptly and shown to a lovely table with views of mirror lake. After taking our drink orders we were given warm bread with zesty garlic and olive oil dipping sauce. I had a beet salad and linguine with clams. The beet salad was wonderful, the linguine dish wasn’t great. The clams were chopped with only 4 whole clams served around the bowl, it was rather bland and unappetizing. My mom had the eggplant parm which she raved about! We shared a piece of chocolate cake and it was rich and delicious. The price was high but not more so than other restaurants in this touristy area. It was quiet so we could concentrate on chatting, the lighting is pleasant as is the staff.
Food was extremely expensive for what you got. I paid for a $22 Cesar salad and received a small side salad size plate with chicken. Never have I seen a Cesar salad so small. The fried mozzarella with marinara was great.
Water glass at our table had lipstick on it. Lobster bisque had no chunks of lobster meat. Burger tasted ok but we asked for medium rare and not a sign of pink to it. Mediocre at best for lunch.
Price is bit pricy, for 21$ u will get small slice of wedge. Food overal is just fine. Nothing outstanding for that price. Ambience: its very pretyvintage design Sevice: very good, server is very attentive.
Jimmy’s has a relatively warm vibe and is what to be expected for mainstream Italian food. I think it’s great that they offer homemade pasta, but it comes at a $3 substitute to their regular pasta dishes. Nice selection of wines and good specials. I had the scallops and shrimp (homemade) fettuccine and the seafood was very good. The steak was also decent and the homemade cheesecake was tasty. Good service but disorganized with seating.
Very average- we were party of 3. Had to send back fish as raw (not undercooked, but raw in centre). Was taken back but replacement arrived when both of my party had nearly finished their meal. Food was fine but very pricey for what you get. Waiter presented us with bill, even though we hadn't requested- Gave a desert for free as gesture, but would not go back again either way as Food or service not great.
Food was good. The chicken parm was great the pasta it came with not so much. And this was the in-house made pasta that was a $5 charge extra. The lobster ravioli was not too flavorful is what my wife said. The mojito was actually pretty good and we sat by the water so it was beautiful at sunset. For the experience it was a bit expensive. But at least we went. Can’t say we will be back.
Took the wife out Saturday for a nice dinner. It was great they got us in without a reservation but food was average. Calamari was horrible. Had a kid who was one of the waiters or owners screaming and crying. Waiters were not very professional. A lot better options. Wouldn’t come back.
Great atmosphere but the food was not good at all. We don't mind paying the price but this was mediocre. Would not recommend.
The food was bland and very overpriced. The onion soup was watery, no flavor, no baguette or Gruyere cheese - for the price. The vodka sauce was not creamy, rich, or tangy like vodka sauce should be and the portion size was small. The atmosphere was loud and crowded. We had to walk down two flights of stairs to a very small room to eat dinner. The people sitting next to us were so loud we couldn't hear each other speak. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this overpriced restaurant. The linen table cloths were the only thing that I would consider fine dining at this place.
The establishment overbooked their seating. What was worse was the staff not acknowledging this and refusing to give timelines to being seated, or even an apology. We left an hour after waiting for our reservation with two hungry children.
I hardly write reviews but was hard not to this time. I’m not a big fan of Italian food but when it says on the sign fine dinning I expect fine dinning and fresh food ! I Got upset stomack not long after leaving the restaurant and I’m really not happy about it. My weekend get away turn into a painful weekend. Never going back !!!!
I had ordered the sirlion steak and I asked for a medium rare but it came out more medium and the sauce for the steak was not flavorful and also my girlfriend had ordered an entree of seafood and it basically came with 2 shrimp 2 scallops and a half piece of salmon the portion for it was extremely small for $48 the servers were not as attentive. Food is bad service is bad not worth the money
We were extremely disappointed! I ordered the salmon dinner. The salmon was just okay and my broccoli should have been served as part of a crudite! It was uncooked. It had the color of raw broccoli that was never blanched. I could not cut through it! My mashed potatoes were like mess hall potatoes served from an ice cream scoop! They were watery, gray and tasteless. It was like they sat in a steam table for an extended period of time. My husband had pasta and said it was not fresh pasta. He said he would never go back. The restaurant is not the same restaurant we dined at 2 years ago. Nothing about the experience was the same. It used to be very good! We are wondering if it has a new owner!
So disappointed! Been going to Jimmy’s for 35 years! Where do I start??? Fruit fly in my wine. No apologies or comp. Lobster Mac comes out in 10 mins (like we’re at McDonald’s) burned from broiling it and the broccoli is burned to the point of not being worthy to eat. The meal stunk @ $55. Crushing experience, won’t be back.
We sat on the back dock overlooking the lake. We ordered calamari for an appetizer, got a drink, and placed our entree order. As we ate, the pole immediately below our table collapsed, making the entire dock collapse into the lake. We, along with 2 other tables, had to run off the dock, grabbing our personal belongings as it fell into the water. We were all startled and unsure of what to do. The waiters reseated us and we settled in. Our waiter asked if we were okay and was apologetic. Not once did the owner or upper management approach us or apologize. At the end of our meal, still no word from the owner (who had greeted us as we entered the restaurant). The check came with the full cost of the meal - nothing comped. It’s one thing to comp drinks, an appetizer, or a meal - it’s entirely different to not ask your diners if they are physically safe after a traumatic event such as a dock sinking in the middle of a meal. Extremely disappointed that our experience, and what the other diners went through, was not recognized in any way. I would not recommend Jimmy 21 to anyone visiting. There are establishments with people who care much more. Not to mention, the pasta was over cooked and soaking in oil - not pesto.
Food not good,The best part of this restaurant is the view. Lobster bisque below average. appetizer we ordered meatballs the meatballs had no texture very mushy no taste. I ordered the chicken parmesan with their homemade pasta. I like pasta al dente this was a little soft, but the pasta was OK. The chicken palm was below average. How this restaurant has a 4+ rating I’ll never know.
Food is so heavy and greasy. Restaurant is old looking and not very clean. They only have 1 bathroom and totally left unattended so it was a disaster. I have no idea how Google can call this the best Restaurant in Lake Placid!!!! The servers were loudly arguing with each other, so unprofessional. They started cleaning the floor with fabric napkins from one the tables near us, when we were still in the dining room eating. Totally awful and disgusting. Their food got my daughter and I a stomachache. Do not go there to eat! If I could give it 0 star I would!
A reservation that turned into a hostage situation — and we never even ate. Absolutely horrendous customer service. We had a 7:30pm reservation on NYE and waited over an hour with two hungry children before giving up. The owner clearly overbooked the restaurant and crammed everyone into a hot, crowded space like cattle (see photo). The hostess repeatedly told guests it would be “15–20 more minutes,” which was clearly untrue — everyone around us waited well over an hour. No transparency, no accountability, and zero compassion from staff. This wasn’t a kitchen delay — it was pure greed and terrible management. What happened to basic customer service? To make it worse, OpenTable is now marking us as a NO SHOW, despite us standing there for over an hour trying to be seated. Do not go to Jimmy’s 21. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had — and we didn’t even get to eat.
Great setting with view of the lake and fantastic service! Food however was very bad, we ordered steak medium rare, it came out almost well-done. Pasta and chicken were watery, soggy and absolutely tasteless. Instant noodles have more flavour… just horrible. Finished the chicken because we just came back from a huge hike… could not make myself eat that disgusting pasta though, absolutely horrible. $120 with tips for 2 mains, diet coke and moktail. Left full of regret for falling for this trap and spending this type of money. Would not touch the food at all if we would not be starving. The restaurant should stick to mac n cheese and fried calamari perhaps… Avoid this place if you are expecting a decent piece of meat or a classic pasta dish.
