I tried the Corned Beef Hash Eggs Benedict, and it’s a total winner. The hash was clearly the real deal (not that canned stuff), and it paired perfectly with the runny eggs. Then there’s the Fish and Chips: The fish was delicate and juicy on the inside, enclosed in a light, crunchy batter that wasn't greasy at all. Served with a side of thick-cut chips and a tangy tartar sauce, it hits all the notes of a traditional, authentic pub-style meal. Beyond the food, the vibe is great because the service is on point. The staff are incredibly friendly and actually helpful if you’re stuck on what to order.
I was pleasantly surprised by this diner. The place was clean and well kept, the atmosphere was lite and welcoming. I ordered the cream of turkey soup and I was blown away by the flavor and richness. A bowl of that soup was enough to fill me up. 😋
I went with a large group and everything came out as ordered. Delicious food and servíce.
Love this diner come alot nice staff and food is great
My friend and I came here last night for an early dinner. It's a large, clean diner with wheelchair accessible parking and ramp. Our food was very good and arrived quickly. Our waitress, Brandy, was appropriately attentive, very kind, and super friendly. It was so noticeable that I made a point of telling her how much it meant to us. Even the busser had a big smile and politely asked what he could remove from the table. A few minutes later, the owner, Otto, came over and introduced himself. He too was courteous and friendly, and seemed genuinely interested in us and our experience dining there. When I told Otto that we usually went to the '76 diner, he said "that's great - keep going there. But I hope you'll come here too." Then he asked what our favorite desserts were and gave us generous to-go samples (which were delicious). *Everything* about this place exemplified what a good diner should be. We will be back - Thank you Brandy, Otto, and everyone at Metro 7 Diner!
The first thing that you notice is the place is spotless. So much chrome and windows all perfectly clean. Floor, seats etc all clean. Delicious homemade desserts and cakes in the showcase. I got the meatloaf special. It had the best beef flavor I think I've ever had. The gravy likewise had a wonderful flavor and texture. So good! My wife got the lasagna. Homemade with fresh basil and herbs, likewise delicious and huge portion. We will definitely be going back!
My breakfast was delivered quickly and was hot and delicious!
Relaxed diner with great service, great menu. Dinner for 3, including soft drinks, under $70eals were fresh, filling, and absolutely delicious. Cheesecake and other baked goods and desserts available.
Huge menu, delicious food, great service, friendly staff! Definitely recommend this place, especially for the desserts!
First time here, Rhianna was our waitress... she had a great sense of humor, very attentive and had perfect timing with our food. Definitely recommended the strawberry shortcake! Wish I had posted pictures, but we enjoyed it al so much!
Classic diner experience. Had an omlette with ham, onions, and cheese. It was delicious. We went on a Sunday morning and only had to wait a couple of minutes. There was plenty of parking. The service was very attentive and who appeared to be either the manager or the owner made sure we enjoyed our meals.
Great diner. Specials are far above what you would expect for a diner. Fish fry was large portion of fresh haddock. Service always polite and accommodating. Kids love the huge cookies with their meals.
Love this place! Great pancakes for breakfast and burgers for lunch.
Went with a group of 7 for Saturday Breakfast. The wait time was short and service was fantastic. Super Friendly staff and not an empty cup. Food came out fast and hot. Great place to eat.
The food was to die for, my mom who never eats all her food cleaned her plate and the smoked salmon omelet I got made me finish the whole omelet. Which never happens
Best diner experience in the capital district. Food is top notch. Service is awesome!
They have many gluten free options and we're safe for my husband with celiac. The food was good and plentiful. Service was was quick and attentive.
Our server was just great with our large party. Recommend splitting the kids cookie...they are insanely huge
Great food. Service was excellent. Will go back soon.
We love this place. This is our fourth time coming and the food is always top-notch. One of our party is gluten-free, and they had a gluten-free dessert called an “Almond Horn“ that was out of this world. They serve gluten-free pancakes and waffles now, and the gluten-free pancakes are the best we’ve ever had. Saturday is smoked barbecue night, definitely come by for the beef brisket. Seriously, this place is gold.
I got the Hudson burger, it was fantastic the homemade wedge fries topped it off! Service was great, a little busy for a Monday afternoon which is great for them service was still top notch. I’ll be back in soon to taste other options on the menu like their breakfast which looks amazing!
EASILY ONE OF THE CLEANEST RESTAURANTS I'VE EVER BEEN TO!!!!! I came as a service worker and I've seen some bad kitchens. This place was spotless. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The owner Otto is a stand-up individual. The chicken caprese panini special was excellent. 0 complaints and I will be back!
Great staff! and delicious food! Weekend special menu with onsite food smoker.
Food is delicious! Great daily specials. Very friendly, professional establishment.
My husband and I were visiting from Texas this week and enjoyed a great meal here for an early dinner Sunday afternoon! I was actually one of our favorite spots we tried in the area and we wished we would have found it sooner and enjoyed it at least once for breakfast ☺️. We shared the chicken parm panini with those DELICIOUS potato wedges along with the southwest egg rolls. Anna was our waitress and she did an outstanding job! The food took a little longer than expected but we were checked on regularly and everything was piping hot. Next time we’re in the area, it will be a must stop!
First time there- great service good food no wait!! Plenty of parking
I'm from the south, passing through on business. The smoked chicken is 🔥!!!! Absolutely highly recommend!! It's very good! 30stars!!! Staff is on point and freaking awesome!!! Will definitely stop here again when passing through. Worth it!!! Awesome!!!
Our waitress Rihanna H was extremely sweet, friendly and helpful. This was our first visit here and she explained many items to us. We definitely enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back again.
The evironment and food can't be matched, I had steak with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies, I asked the steak to be cooked medium well, and medium well is what I got! The customer service was great from the servers to the workers, Jesús was was professional and polite great conversationalist
This was our first time here. We both loved the service and the food. The staff was so friendly. We will be eating here again when we are in the area again.
Best BLT that I’ve ever had! Fresh tomatoes that taste like garden tomatoes. We’ll go back when we’re in the Albany area.
Fantastic food, huge diner menu as expected, but also everyone was super friendly and welcoming. And their muffins are amazing!
fantastic all around. Clean, Quick, courteous and a large selection of diner staples including baked good. Had the Irish skillet and it turned my entire morning around. Topped it off with fantastic apple pie and coffee. if I lived here it'd be a daily stop for me, well done!
Great food and service. Was pretty busy, but we got in right away. Food came fast.
It is the best diner I have ever been able to find and I am grateful that it is so close to my office. The diners close to my home pale in comparison. The owner is friendly and the staff are caring and professional. The food is excellent compared to other diners. I customize what I order rather than picking from the menu and the staff have no problem with that. In addition, it is less expensive than other diners. I feel privileged to be able to frequent this fine restaurant.
A rare square-cut egg salad sandwich! The egg salad I would give 4/5 stars. I can tell that the eggs are fresh and are not overboiled. The level of mustard and mayo levels are perfect! I am taking a star away from the sandwich because there is no diced celery or onion, and the square cut I believe made the salad a bit unwieldy. My lunchmates were laughing at the bits of egg that fell from my sandwich onto my lap. I know this goes against my normal reviews, but I am adding a star to the final review because I got a cup of the matzo ball soup and it was PHENOMENAL. Outta control good. Will definitely be returning!!
I am now trying to avoid the fast food joints and heading the local diners. I do enjoy going there and I also got a mug. You can purchase their coffee mugs and take it with you and we are starting a small collection keyword small on diner coffee mugs
Food was great! I had the grilled chicken pesto panini which was fantastic. The fries were good also, not over salted. We were here for lunch. Got a table right away. Our waitress was wonderful. We stayed and chatted over an hour and she was fine with that. We'll go back
Clean, well run, friendly Food is on the better end of local diners, but first impression is that its safer to order diner classics and nothing too fancy. Stuffed sole (pictured) was inedible-- something in it had gone bad. Everything else was great. Fried calamari and marinara was spot on. Everything was cooked well. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Overall, this is a great spot-- we hope to return regularly!
Awesome owner . Awesome happy staff . Clean and efficient. Great desert and great meatloaf , BLT ,Chicken Park., SMOKIN SATURDAYS BBQ😋 , breakfast is good , crispy bacon, perfect cooked eggs when your done YUMMY cannolis. Very good family friendly place. Also have party room in back for bigger gatherings.
Food is just amazing ! Hash (made here) and eggs are local. Also got the pastrami reuben and I dare you to find a better one ... I'm a little bit of a meat snob and it was one of the best I've had ! Otto owns the place and cones right out ... he is proud of what he had done and it shows
This is the diner I choose. The burgers are my first pick but breakfast to chicken tenders have always been a win. Big diner menu, friendly staff and talent in the kitchen! On the weekends the outdoor grill/smokers are going for added joys. Just really happy with this spot in Latham. Thank you.
Classic diner with terrific food. Quality ingredients, freshly prepared. We had a breakfast quesadilla and chicken souvlaki. Both were hot and fresh and very tasty. A slice of black forest cake was excellent. Fresh and not too sweet. I grew up in New Jersey, so I know diners and this one is really good.
Fantastic Breakfast location! Food looked as good as it tasted! Avocado Toast with poached eggs, skirt steak chimchurri and potatoes on the side. Yum!
When I am back home, I'm sad that many of the diners I practically grew up in have closed years ago. There's a few old school diners like Metro 7 that are staying true to the classic menu with some creative flourishes. The smoked meats on Saturday were a treat. I'll be back!
Just stopped by on our way to the airport for a quick brunch not expecting much but the food was great!! Definitely recommend the country breakfast skillet. A nice man who I can only assume is the owner saw me eyeballing the delicious looking desserts up front while we were paying. I spoke with him a bit but I decided against getting anything since we needed to run out to our flight. Right as we were leaving he handed me a chocolate chip cooking for the road! Yummy! Thanks so much!
What’s not to like here? Food is always good no matter if it’s dine in, take out, or delivery. Large menu with options for everybody. Great prices. Food is excellent. The Turkey Brie and ranch panini is my go to here. Otto and his staff are all pleasant and fun to be around. Best diner in the area hands down. If you haven’t been you’re missing out.
We have been steady guests at this diner ever since they opened. The staff love their work. The service is always attentive and thoughtful. The food is delicious. They have a few theme nights like Italian or Greek or Barbecue night. The desserts are incredible. They have any kind of cake that you can think of including some Greek specialties that I have not seen anywhere else. Can’t say enough good things about this diner.
Great diner! I had bacon and eggs over easy with an English muffin. It’s been a long time since I had a sandwich size muffin and it was excellent. The most remarkable thing was the coffee. It was hot, black and tasty and the mug was the style with all the advertising on it, and just the right weight! I’d definitely go back. They always seem to have a huge smoker out front and we asked. They have brisket, ribs, turkey, ham, etc. and it’s only served on Saturdays
My sister and I were visiting from out of town. We stopped here for dinner and it did not disappoint. We both got the turkey with mashed potatoes. The portion was huge and the food was amazing. We got desert the chocolate peanut butter cake - SO good! All deserts are made in house. The owner was so pleasant! He gave us a desert on the house to try. The service was awesome. We will be back when we visit again for sure.
We stopped here for breakfast because it is close to the airport. What a pleasant surprise! This is the cleanest, brightest, and nicest diner I have ever been in. The service was excellent. The owner was delightful. The dishes had large portions and were delicious. We ordered Challah French toast, eggs with turkey sausage and toast, and Nutella banana pancakes. All of it was excellent. This will definitely be our go to when flying in or out of the Albany airport.
Went too busy when we went but it was a weeknight and just about 5pm. Service was excellent and the food was pretty good. Prices are more expensive than the diner down the street but prices are up everywhere as it's 2023. We ordered 2 kids meals pancakes & Mac n cheese as well as 2 adult meals the grilled cheese and chicken marsala. Portions were great and the fries were the potato wedge kind. I am not generally a fan of potato wedges but they were seasoned nicely so they were enjoyable. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Bathrooms were also clean which is always a plus. We will definitely be back! Update: went back today after they had been opened for a bit. Excellent customer service, was just me and my toddler son and the server was quick, friendly, & adaptive. The kids meals are a great deal when you see what you get. They get to choose a main dish, 2 sides, drink, & cookie. When I went to pay I realized I forgot my credit card in my car. The cashier was super patient and I packed up myself and my son and got out to the car and back. My Buffalo chicken wrap was great as well! Again, we will definitely be back.
Came here on a Tuesday for a quick bite at lunch. Service was prompt and food arrived quickly, however, as a vegetarian the options for combinations at breakfast was sad. I wanted to order a pancake with scrambled eggs and homefries but the only combinations available included meat i wouldnt eat and didnt want to pay for or to order two meals at over 20$. There was no way to add a pancake as a side to the 2 eggs homefries and toast for example. Diners are usually great for groups with allergies ans dietary restrictions because the menus are broad and flexible but in this instance it was disappointing. I did get a baklava on the way out and it was devine!
Nice clean place. Friendly workers. They did mess up on my fries which was not a big deal. It was good to hear when the waitress went back to her her say the coom had it ready and saying he messed up. Not many people will do thar
A bit pricey, but good food and service. Smaller portions option would control prices and offer better value
We stopped for breakfast. Other than the orange-colored, bland home fries, the food was really good. The spotless vintage interior was very pleasant, as was our server.
Diner food and by that I don't mean it's not good but it's basic fare. Service was good and friendly. Great place to meet friends and catch up or just stop by with family for a nice meal.
Food was great. Waiter was great the crabby Iady taking our money ruined the visit. Not going to go back ever again
Very nice clean diner. No, wait, when we went on a Friday even though it was crowded. Quick service with a friendly knowledge server. The food was very good, and the portion was plenty. The macaroni and cheese was very good. Excellent desert menu to choose from. They have daily specials everyday with a smoker on Saturdays.
We had the Corn beef Reuben and beef patty open face. Food was good, portion size was very good and the service was very good. Prices were fine. We will be back for a breakfast at some point.
I came just mid day for coffee and a snack. The food was good. I visited with a girlfriend. The waitress seemed to be new. She forgot my sugar sub. She didnt offer more coffee but brought it when I asked. Nicely decorated for the holidays.
Another day, another diner craving satisfied. I’ve driven past Metro 7 countless times, but ever since my diner fixation kicked in, my subconscious is on high alert for new spots to try. Loved the cozy vibes inside—the staff was super sweet, and the food came out fast. I have this (bad?) habit of ordering a toasted muffin with coffee at every diner I visit. They had some fun options like pistachio, but I went with the cinnamon muffin, and it did not disappoint. For my main, I got the Monte Cristo—nothing excites my taste buds more than the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and this hit the spot. The portion was huge (hello, leftovers!). My boyfriend enjoyed his steak & eggs, and the hash was great. Metro 7 is definitely a solid addition to my diner rotation.
Coffee was cold. I ordered the meatloaf and it was the worst I've had. Does the chef taste what he makes? More like eating breadcrumbs past off as meatloaf. I probably won't visit the diner again.
I went with my mom to celebrate my one year sober. I got there big boy breakfast the pancakes weren't cooked through. It took time for me to get the server. I had to get up and tell her the pancakes werent cooked through. She acted like she didnt believe they were cooked all the way and then realized they weren't, she got me new pancakes. My mom got the cobbler and the wrap wasnt as she thought it would be. So she gave it to me and I didnt like it so I through it out.
Metro 7 Diner: A Promising Start, But Room for Improvement I was genuinely excited to try Metro 7 Diner, especially with new owners at the helm and the constant search for good diners near my home. What truly piqued my interest was seeing their advertisement for Eggs Benedict, specifically mentioning homemade hollandaise, which is one of my favorite breakfasts. Upon arrival, the diner looked nice and clean inside, and the hostess was friendly and welcoming, setting a pleasant tone. Our waitress was also very kind and personable, contributing to a good service experience. My brother ordered a breakfast platter and asked if he could swap the pancakes for a waffle, even offering to pay more. Our waitress assured him he wouldn't be charged extra, which was great to hear. However, when the bill came, he was indeed charged more for the waffle. While we didn't say anything, it was a bit disappointing. Despite that, he did enjoy his meal overall. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and while it looked appealing with generous ham and nice, thick English muffins (a definite positive, as many places skimp on ham or serve tiny, burnt muffins), the flavor was completely absent. Hollandaise sauce is meant to have a vibrant zip and sweetness from lemon juice, along with a pleasant saltiness from butter and a pinch of salt. This version was sadly bland and very disappointing, especially given the "homemade" promise. The home fries were equally underwhelming. Some were barely cooked and hard, lacking any seasoning or crispness. Others had a distinct "earthy" taste, almost as if they'd just been pulled from the ground without proper cleaning or seasoning, which I found hard to stomach. In summary, the service at Metro 7 Diner was wonderful, and the atmosphere truly embodies the quintessential diner feel. However, the food, particularly my Eggs Benedict and the home fries, left a lot to be desired. I'm willing to give Metro 7 Diner another chance, hoping these are just new-owner kinks to work out, but I highly doubt I'll be ordering the Eggs Benedict again.
I do like this place but this is the second time this has happened that I found hair in my food. Don't have the chili I have been getting sick from it. (While writing this review I am getting sick from it) I feel this place is going down hill and I did really like it here too. I guess its time to take a break away from here. The kitchen staff should wear hairnets!
This is a traditional diner. The menu is huge, with all the typical diner menu items, including all day breakfast. My adult companions had barbecued brisket and a barbecued pork sandwich. Both were fine. The brisket came with a huge pile of broccoli, very plain, and mashed potatoes. The pork barbecue was also fine- served on toast oddly. I had a hamburger. It was cooked exactly right, and the fries were excellent. The children were not happy with their breakfast meals. The homefries were really not good. The other was upset because they put the fruit she wanted on top of her French toast not on the side. So, the food is somewhat uneven. Some things were great, others not so good The service was excellent, and the place was packed. Would I go back? I don't think so.
This is a very average diner and by that I mean the food was just okay, but not really good. However, if you have any sort of dietary restrictions, I would not recommend eating here. I asked for my omelet with no cheese and made it clear to the waitress that I could not have milk products. The kitchen loaded the omelet with cheese regardless and because it was inside the omelet, I did not realize until I had a few bites. They also have no milk alternatives other than a “lactose free” creamer that is still made from milk and therefore I could not have.
The Irish Benedict corned beef hash was undercooked, and the water glasses had debris or food particles inside. I understand things can get busy, but serving a clean water glass should never be an issue.
Came in today and the man that seated me and my girlfriend was great, he sat us off behind where the Register is."The section over in open area" The seat he sat us in was against back of diner next to another Register. We sat for 10minute. The waitress that was working section had on glasses and looked at us while we were waiting and yelled " ill be right over" Rudely. And aggressively, after few more minutes finally the man who sat us asked if we wanted drinks and he was nice enough to bring right over..Finally the waitress with the glasses and tattoo on her arm not sure what her was but i know it was around 1:00 today.. she finally decided to come over and ask our order, when i started to say what i wanted she barked at me "Hold on" very rude and took forever to get food which was cold and toast was hars and crunchy, never came back to check on us and after half hour after of being done eating came back and dropped bill, again never asking how was and had a very stank Attitude. Its sad because i liked my Previous experiences at this diner. I wont be back nor will i tell friends about. Message for waitress Waiting tables is a hustle. And you better stop your game be nicer to people that your waiting on if you want tips. Heres a tip for you find a different job if the one you have makes you this miserable. Step up your PR skills..
We were very disappointed with our visit on June 5th. All in all, the very large waitress with dark hair was terrible. No hospitality or a care in the world. (I would bet it's the same person that's talked about in the other comments here). The sodas had been overfilled, so they were dripping and sticky. No napkins (besides the 1 with a fork and knife in it). We both ordered medium burgers but got well done. Never got the checkup on the food a waitress normally does. We're annoyed, sticky and now dirty from burger stuff and with just that 1 wet napkin. We ate half the burgers and waited for her to finally come to us to then ask if we would like any dessert. Not if we enjoyed the meal or why is all the food still there (but half the burgers) or even do you want a to-go box. Nope. Nothing even close to that. Check, please. It's a diner. We aren't asking for anything crazy but some kindness and common sense. $37.32 wasted and not a penny more.
Went in to the diner today at 2 PM on a Sunday. Very slow service. I ordered the filet minion skillet medium rare which came more than well-done. I understand this isnt a steakhouse but come on, there was clearly no attention paid at all. The skillet’s potatoes were burned and bland. Everything needed seasoning. Wait staff was inattentive and did not ask us how food was until the waitress was flagged down. Avoid this place!
First time in town and they Over charged me … Food was Bland … it was not worth $127 for 5 plates of Breakfast
Waitress (my) waitress was freindly polite and helpful other waitress very very Rude. Food was nasty, fish was gross, French frys taste like fish manager said they were donto change fryer oil.... cook your fish separately from your French Fries. Soup was not good at all. Would not recommend, and i will not return maybe related to Burnt Hills Veterinary Hospital owners.
