I’ve been going to Teds for over 55 yrs. First in Troy now in Latham.The Teds in Latham where I live now are very efficient. Never had a bad meal there. Their chili sauce is the best, and homemade. I’d definitely recommend Teds Fish to everyone.

Been going to Ted's at least once a week since I was a little kid. The best onion rings ever! Burgers, hot dogs and fish fries are also great. Excellent casual counter service.

I know it's a fish fry joint, but the cheeseburgers are AMAZING!!! So yummy!!! Of course the fish is delicious and the portion size is great! The homemade chili sauce really completes the fish fry! And their homemade onion rings are delicious!!!! Definitely stop in if you have the chance! Employees are incredibly nice and accommodating!!!

Live about an hour away and happened to try Ted's Fish Fry while passing through town. And it was exceptional! Cozy little eatery with friendly staff, attentive staff. The fish fry was fresh, crispy, and delicious. And the crab cakes were definitely homeade and also nice and fresh. Lots of flavor and not too oily from the fryer. If I'm ever around again I will absolutley stop back in.

I've known about Ted's fish fry since I was a kid and always enjoyed the food. My girlfriend is not from around here so when I brought her and she tried the fish tacos she absolutely loved them. The service is always friendly and quick. The food has never let me down so I'm happy to go there any time I want a quick bite

Great little place. It has been around for years and reminds me of the golden days of roadside buger joints. No frills, just good food, decent price, and seating to enjoy it. Fish fries and French fries are not the only thing they do well. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, mini dogs, and more to choose from each time you visit.

This, or another one of the Ted's shops is always on the itinerary when we visit the capital area. Nothing fancy, just reliably good fish dinner or lunch, cooked to order. A limited menu, but that's how fast food fish shops keep quality up. If you want to sit down, best not to go at precisely lunch or supper time. Take-out and outside tables at most shops if the weather is good.

Had the fish fry lunch special fish was delicious and good portion size. The chili sauce was tangy and the perfect compliment to the fish. The fries were cooked golden and had a nice crisp to them. The employees were all wearing PPE(Big Thanks!!). Overall a wonderful experience.

First time here with my fiance, last Tuesday. We came for lunch tried the big platter with everything. Loved the clams, scallops and fish fry the best. Could do without the coleslaw but that's a personal like. It depends. We will be back. We don't typically eat fried food but it's a nice treat. All the workers were very kind and helpful great service! It may take a little bit to get your food during a rush but that's normal wherever you go.

Big fan of the fish tacos and the buffalo fish fry. The fried clam is a perfect munchable. The staff is polite.. to the point.. extremely courteous and frankly so darn quick in taking orders as well as getting them ready. I would recommend this place anytime against the stereotypical coffee houses or chain restaurants serving the quick bite stuff.

The person taking the orders had an attitude. I'm so sorry.. I traveled that whole week. The fish place that I was thinking that I was writing a review for was in Washington DC. I got mixed up on the place there. So sorry! You guys were nice.

This is simply the best fish fry in the area. It is our go-to week night "fast food" and yet it is delicious and doesn't leave you feeling like you've contributed to a future heart attack. The buttery goodness of their fish fry is what makes them far and away the best. If you don't feel like fish, then pick up the fried clams or scallops or even the oysters! If you're not in the mood for sea food, but your partner is, then might I suggest getting their burgers, because the burgers/sliders are delicious. I always get mine with onions there and it's always tasty. The mini dogs with the works are also worth getting too. The kids will love the cheese fries and they do "old fashioned" milk shakes (syrup mix and blended up fast) so your kids can get their sugar fix too.

Great place for a quick lunch or dinner. I like the way they fry fish, the breading is tasty but not too heavy and the fish isn't too oily. The difference locations are all similar in quality of food, but the Latham store seems to get the meal out faster.

Good clean place for a quick seafood fix. The scallops are always good and tender. Never have to wait to long and they are on top of cleanliness. Get the banana milkshake extra banana flavoring....you can thank me later😝

Ted's has the BEST fish fry's around! I had the fish tacos and my husband had the fish fry special ... the fish is always fresh - my husband is not a fish eater, but he enjoys Ted's fish fry...of course he loves their burgers too! We've never had a bad meal at ANY of their locations!!

I’ve been going here for years with generations of my family and it’s ALWAYS been delicious, and they always serve fresh food. Every time we’ve ever been here we’ve always gotten such sweet, talkative service as well! Teds food has a lot of care into it and every penny going towards those plates of yumminess is always worth it!

Fish fry in the Albany area means something special. Ted's has been around since my childhood in Albany, and I'm 66 now. I now live far from Albany and haven't had a Ted's fish fry in over a decade. Not only are they as good as ever, the service and efficiency of the staff couldn't be better. I love the taste of their tartar sauce and the fresh steamed buns finish off the perfection. The pressed cardboard trays and wooden forks for the fries bring me back to the 60s in Albany. If you like fish fries, you've got to try Ted's.

Ben hearing about Ted’s for so many years, finally tried it. Can confirm it’s super cute and can see that no frills, almost nostalgic appeal. Kinda weird how all the staff (cooks) are facing you behind the counter just standing by if there’s no one in front of you in line. Also gave me the runs like no other within 2 hours of stuffing my face, but that was expected.

This is the best fish fry you’ll ever eat at Ted’s and this is the best Ted’s location. Every menu item is freshly cooked. You can eat here even if you don’t like fish! I see so many burgers and hot dog orders come through. But for me it’s the taco, clam roll, and mini dogs with everything. You can’t go wrong at Ted’s. It’s the best you can order and You can taste the love. This is why we are so lucky to have you in our community. Ted’s is the best and Latham is the best store of the best!

2024 Couldn't stay away. Just awesome fried fish. Worth the drive from Ohio! 2023 Finally back again and not disappointed. Remains delicious, fresh cod filets fried with light batter served in a hot dog bun. Excellent gracious quick service. Booth tables for eating and visiting. See photos! 2018 Whenever we get to Latham, we make it a point to go to Ted's for a fish fry! We are never disappointed-- great fish, fries, coleslaw etc. and they have bottles of malt vinegar so you can dress up your fried fish and French fries to be like authentic British fish and chips!!!

I did notice today the fish was very delicate falling apart in the bun No longer Haddock or Cod. Maybe not even Pollack but still delicious. Whenever i have a taste for seafood i think of teds lol..the workers was very welcoming. They had much patience a i tried to figure out what to order. However the only complaint that i do have is that tbey fix the exit door from the actual eating area. It slammed every time it closed. Other then that it was an okay experience

The Teds in Latham had no heat it was sooo cold in there. Your employees laughed it off and good for them but jeez get the heater fixed for them. They deserve better than that. But the food was great as always and the employees friendly but shivering

Owner operated small chain of sea food diners. They have a menu, and a person who takes your order and translates it to the cooks for you. Hasn't changed in decades. Good hot dogs and milk shakes.

Teds in Lathem is really good. Fish fry is flaky and falls apart. Fried shimp is excellent. Burger and chili dog are not so bad also. Very reasonably priced items. Can be very busy at certain times.

Still one of the best places around for a fish fry. They've got a little smaller and the price has gone up quite a bit onion rings are fantastic and real coleslaw wasn't that great though I still give it 4 stars

Good fish and chips in a dinky environment. Fish was cod but fortunately had a haddock taste. It was served on a cheap hot dog bun.

This was my first time here and the guy taking (and shouting) the orders seems to kind of want you to be a regular, know what you want, and know how to order it. It didn't feel that friendly, but let's be honest when your fried fish tastes that good the stuff sells itself and my guess is the staff has enough business and isn't going above and beyond to win over anyone. Skip the tartar sauce and get their homemade chili sauce. It was so good!

Food was great as usual. Best fish fries I've ever had. Been coming here since I was a kid so 35 years. I just hate when the lone is backed up and you have to shout your order over 10 peoples head. It just makes you feel awkward.

Some of the best fish fry around. They also have fried calamari and hotdogs and fries, but their money maker is the fish fry. The location is tiny and on Fridays the line is out the door. They move quickly though -- I spent maybe 10-15 minutes in line at most. Super friendly staff. Four stars only because the parking is a challenge, especially on Fridays and more specifically Fridays during Lent. It's still worth the trouble, if you like fish fry you won't be disappointed.

An old-timey fast food place found throughout the Capital District. Their prices on mini hot dogs and burgers are actually less than Gus's. The quality is fair to decent. Nothing flashy.

Parking is easy here once you find the entrance. I had the lunch special. A fish fry, coleslaw, french fries and a fountain drink. The food was quickly served and Hot! The inside could use a bit of an update, the counter is warn. The staff was friendly. Great food as always with Ted's.

They were out of clams and we wanted 2 clam rolls. Our fish was a little undercooked and no salt on the fries. Consistency from around the area differs. There are other locations I prefer.

The food was good, except for the coleslaw. It is usually so fresh and delicious and today it looked and tasted like it was a few days old! I was very disappointed, as I usually get an extra pint to take home.

Had a fish fry and cheddar fries with my wife. Food was great. Just wish they wore hair nets or hats in the back where they prepare the food but have been to many locations and its the safe in all.

Tonight was my first time eating food from here and given the ratings I had high expectations. I ordered the fish and chips with regular fries & sweet potato fries (instead of coleslaw, which I don’t like). Once I was in my car on the way home, I noticed they forgot to include the regular fries. So my order wasn’t accurate. Overall, the food was piping hot and well-fried. However, the sweet potato fries were not salted at all and tasted very plain. The fried fish also seemed under-seasoned (and used a little too much breading for my liking). The food wasn’t bad, but definitely not my best fried fish experience. I think I’m just accustomed to a different style of fried fish that is lightly battered and more heavily seasoned (I’m from Maryland). The style at Ted’s just isn’t my cup of tea. That being said, the staff were very courteous and friendly and my food was ready shortly after I arrived to pick it up. I appreciate good service.

I used to really love Ted's but lately it's been very mid. I ordered the big Ted's platter and a side of New England clam chowder. The platter was ok except for one shrimp that tasted weird. The clams are a bit rubbery, I don't really care for them. The scallops are good but a bit too salty. The fish is ok but pretty skimpy. The fries are good, just need a bit of salt and the coleslaw was pretty good this time around. I don't know if it was because I was there late, but the New England clam chowder was not very good, it was VERY grainy, which was very off-putting. The staff is friendly here, but the interior is very outdated.

The place was clean. Service was amazing & fast. I had never been before & had been told by many it's a must try. I ordered the lunch special, I thought it was bland, both the fish & fries were under seasoned. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, I would go again to try again.

Got home thry must have broken fish fry when putting in bag.. I watched them grab from fryer and it was a great big piece, when I got home and opened it the piece was abt 5 inches long(length of hot dog roll). And to top it off there was a chunk of fried fish settled in my tarter sauce container. Grossed me out.. Pretty bummed cuz we look forward to fish night once or twice a month

My daughter and I came here on a Monday and the food was okay. The fish was not as fresh as Offshore Pier in Rensselaer, NY The ends of Ted's fish Fry were very hard and not able to chew. We got the loaded fries and hardly any topping and charged us an extra dollar! I would go there again only if I was really hungry and nowhere else to go!

Great food but won’t be back until this pandemic is long gone or until they change their policies. Offer curbside pickup or close the table next to where people line up. masks DO NOT protect us from people eating and laughing it up 3 feet away from us.

The establishment itself was very clean. The food was average at best and the price seemed very high for what we ordered. Unfortunately we NOT be returning anytime soon. The girl at the counter seemed to be more of a robot than an actual person. Either she’s in lack of training or she just needs to loosen up a bit. Two stars is a gift as far as a review is concerned.

Always try to stop at Ted’s when I’m in the area. A big concern is charging $6.70 for a hot dog. Sorry, but that’s a little much.

I have been going here for 30 years. Even went out of my way to make sure that they had my business during the pandemic. This past Friday I was there and my entire order was just completely messed up which never happens. I know I probably should have checked the order before I left but there were so many people there that there just was no room and I left. I've never actually had an issue. I called when I got home which was 30 minutes away and complained. They apologized and they took my name and number and told me the manager was going to call me the next day. That never happened. Very sad but I won't be going back because basically everything was garbage and it wasn't eatable. Email sent 08/31/2020 and no response from the company. ☹️

I had to interject the clerk calling the order back to the cooks as he had the order wrong. Ordered 3 hotdogs as well the clerk only called two back to the cooks .I asked for extra crispy on the fish as well . It is never cooked enough in the lathem location and today was no different Fish was falling apart. There was a lack of attention to detail to the customer order.

I don’t typically write bad reviews ever but when my mother gets disrespected and attitude from staff from literally doing nothing, that’s what pisses me off. I would highly recommend you not waste your money here. This place used to be good and my mom used to love going there until recently on two different occasions when we went our opinions changed. I asked for onion rings instead of fries and they said alright then before someone handed me my order they asked if it was onion rings instead of fries and I said yes, then the girl proceeded to eye roll at me like I just bothered her while all the other customers noticed and changed out the fries. Honestly I don’t mind if people get my order wrong or little things since everyone makes mistakes, what bothers me is when they proceed to show unnecessary attitude when it’s their mistake. Another occasion, when my mom went, the staff took peoples orders in the line yet when it was my moms turn they just looked at her and left. My mom who typically doesn’t get upset over these things took that seriously. She was plain out ignored and stood there for about 5 minutes before another guy finally took her. So yeah that’s my experience and i’m never going back again :)

So along with the disappointing burgers. Was the fish fry that looked like it was double dipped and really thin. The bun is super small and cost $7.00 or more. A $1.75 for a mini hot dog. It was a joke 🤣😂

New cooks are terrible. Fish sandwich fell apart with most falling on floor when removed from bag and most of bun was wet (???). The shrimp dinner was undercooked both shrimp and fries. A long time customer who will not come back or recommend.

"Due to inflation, our Fish and Chips order no longer includes chips." was the answer I received from the manager of the Latham Ted's Fake Fry when I called them to ask why I didn't get any fries with my fish. Apparently, inflation is an excuse to false advertise. If the Fish AND CHIPS doesn't come with fries, then why call it that? It's not Fish and Chips, it's just fish fry. False advertising at its finest. Buyer beware, this company just wants your money. Never buying from this place again.

They messed up our order , the girls were laughing and playing around while our food just sat there, the shake machine was broke , burgers were very small and expensive , tasted like raw meat barley anything on them . I WILL DEFINITELY keep going to the Troy Ted's on 2nd Ave in Lansing Burgh, very friendly people and nice atmosphere, food is ALWAYS hot and fresh , and it is so much cleaner.

It’s hard to mess up fried food but it’s even worse when a 50 dollar order feels like more of burden than a gift to a local business . I asked for extra sauce on the side of my 4 fish tacos. Got home and were they saturated in chipotle sauce. I didn’t know extra sauce was soupy. They Steelers masked cook was complaining of my big order as I walked in and turned around when he realized it was my order he was talking about. The others Didn’t mess up the chicken tenders , fries or clams though. But for 50 bucks and you mess up the most expensive plate 4 times. I found myself eating the fish and throwing away the rest of the 4 tacos. I won’t go back

This place feels outdated, and the line moves slow. I didn't get to try the food because I left after seeing an employee who was cooking, rubbing her arms with her gloves on, and then continuing to prepare the food.

Ted’s website says they can provide allergen info if you ask, but this is false and dangerous. I have a wheat allergy, and the staff not only told me I was “in the wrong place,” but also refused to serve fish without the coating. Their website misleads people with allergies into thinking it’s safe to eat here when it’s not. I’ll be reporting this to the health department because this could put lives at risk.
