We came to their grand opening on Saturday and had an awesome time. They had a live band playing the blues, and everyone was super welcoming. For an appetizer, we picked the bacon bombs and they were BOMB. What really shined was the rib tips for me. Would highly suggest those for anyone who can't decide what to get. Great job to the back of the house and the front of the house. Y'all rocked! 🖤

Food was pretty good. Nice scenery.

So we finally made it to The Grill Sergeant VA BBQ this week and it did not disappoint!!! The meats were delicious, the greens and cabbage were amazing, and y’all, when I say the cornbread was the best I’ve ever had, I mean it!!!!! Amy was our server and she did an excellent job, especially since it was her first night. If you haven’t already tried it out, do so. I highly recommend the jerk chicken and the bbq chicken.

My dad and I love this place. My dad lives in a town smaller and outside of Blackstone where the food options are extremely limited. I come to see him on most weekends and plan out Saturday or Sunday suppers around going here. The home cooked food is seasoned perfectly, the jerk chicken is always good but by far the trip is worth it because my dad loves the cat fish. It’s become a place we look forward to going because the staff is great and the food is always top notch. I never leave without some sort of sweet treat. We tried going this evening but were meet with lights out and doors locked. I do hope all is well and this place stays around for a long while. My dad has had some health issues recently and we do enjoy the time spent on the drive there, but it would’ve been so nice to see a “sorry closed for the day/night” sign on the door and not just that the doors were locked. Hope all is well with the next to home restaurant ❤️

New place. Great name. First off, the owner is very open, friendly, nice ... can't say enough about her. The servers Kristy and Miranda were very nice and working hard. The other server was not pleasant and should be replaced. The bacon bombs were wonderful, and I had loaded curly/spiral potatoes with pulled pork. Very good. My husband had the three meat plate. The sausage was good, the pork was good but the chicken had an overly charcoal taste. Overall I would go back.

$27 plate... portion to small! Brisket not cooked slow and low because the fat was terrible. Menu says pulled pork, but definitely minced to hide something. Sausage was OK. Mac and Cheese was super greasy and baked beans tasted like chili beans. Also Menu says comes with cornbread but was later advised that they were out! Out of cornbread (takes 20 min to make) dang. Very disappointed in this stop.

Place was DOA at 5:30. We had a table up front, ordered drinks and received them. Then were placing the order when finally told no brisket. It should hav been told to us up front when ordering drinks. Love the town of Blackstone but will never go back there.

Ordered 2 piece fried chicken with bacon mac and cheese and cabbage. The food was Horrible! The cabbage was cooked to mush. The fried chicken was smoked then fried and the bacon macaroni only had 2 small strips of bacon laying on top. It cost $18.99 including a sprite. This is my first time ordering from there and my last. Also please update the menu to the correct prices and to say that you dont serve regular fried chicken. A complete waste if money.

The atmosphere is really nice, the waitress made me some really good Koolaid but the food was not good to any of my team. OxTails NO, Mac and cheese NO collard greens NO Baked beans NO!!! My team hated everything, even the wings. Will not be returning!

I was very excited to try this place. As we walked in the restaurant had to ask if we should seat ourselves. They were more concerned in watching wild'n out then greeting us. The appetizers came out with the main course. The wings were a few days old and had no flavor. Their buffalo sauce was watered down. The 2 meat plate wich was $20.99 consisted of 1 drumstick(couple days old) and 2 small pieces of brisket(mostly fat), 2 sides, mac and cheese was dry and tasteless. The cole slaw was decent. The best thing from what we ordered was the cornbread. Hope they better their food quality and service.

Upon my arrival, I was not greeted. The waitress continued to have a conversation with what seemed to be some friends. A waiter walked by, still no assistance. Finally i asked for some assistance. They were out of everything I asked for. What happened to the good service I had before? I guess it doesn’t exist anymore

The shrimp skewers are 6 individual shrimp for 18.99$ the Mac n cheese is hardly edible and the brisket is more fat than meat. I spent a lot of money here and I feel like I was robbed. DO NOT GO HERE!

3 of us went in expecting good VA BBQ. Guys ordered brisket and ribs. I ordered the brisket plate. The brisket for all of us came out dark and greasy, like someone had pan-fried leftovers. I tried eating it and couldn't even cut most of it with my knife. I tried the coleslaw and bacon-fried cabbage which both had good flavor. When I let the waitress know, they offered to make something else, but I was afraid to see what else would come out. They gave me 40% off my meal which was one piece of delicious cornbread, and some cabbage. Brisket should be easy for a BBQ place. The ribs were dry and fatty. The live music was great and the service was prompt and friendly. If I had been waiting our table, I would have steered our order away from anything but the pulled pork - which looked good on other people's plates. Worst meal I have paid for in a very long time. We were so disappointed.

i never leave reviews but i feel like i owe this warning to everyone reading it . man i was craving bbq . this was such a god awful experience and really missed the mark. the pork nachos were disgusting. they maybe had 5 pieces of pork total. and way too many green bell peppers. the ribs were so dry and didn’t come with the sides I ordered. she even asked me which sides i wanted and i said fries and slaw then tried to argue i didn’t order sides. the service was terrible and both servers seemed very green. go somewhere else.

Ordered the pulled pork sidewinders. Description stated sidewinders loaded with pulled pork, bbq sauce, sour cream, cheese, bacon and chives. This is what was delivered. Tho they are good, this is not what I was expecting to be delivered at all.
