We took a little day trip to Lompoc and stopped at Dave’s Place for lunch. The Chicken Pesto sandwich was amazing, as was the Chef Salad! The staff were very friendly and attentive. The hotel it’s connected to looked super retro cool and made us want to come back and stay. Get out and check them out!
The food was outstanding, and both my mother and I received generous portions for lunch. We both had plenty leftover to take home. The service and atmosphere was outstanding as well. We live in Santa Maria and we will definitely come back. It is worth the trip.
Great dinner at Dave’s Place in the Village Inn. Started with the artichoke appetizer which was expertly prepared and presented. The wine menu was super local! The strawberry and arugula salad with tritip was excellent. The prime rib was melt in your mouth good. Servers were very attentive and courteous. Definitely will be back and will bring more people. They also have separate rooms for private events.
Our waiter Jim is the best dinner server at Dave’s Place. He was prepared with excellent recommendations, efficient service and a super positive attitude. All the food was fresh & delicious!
My family and I stop here often. They recognize us and always greet us warmly. There is paper on the tables for kids to color on which my son loves.
Love this spot. Chili Beans with pieces of meat in it is my favorite. Amazing Tri Tip Sandwich combo for an awesome price!
Hidden gem right off the highway in Vandenberg Village. I went for breakfast and was impressed by the amount of options. The tri-tip burrito and short stack of pancakes is what I ordered. Both were filling, and the average person would have been stuffed from just one of those items - but I finished both plates! 😋 Friendly staff too. Highly Recommended
Wonderful mom-and-pop diner for every meal! The staff are courteous, the prices are great, and the portions are large. Fun decorations throughout the premises too.
1st timer. Business trip. Get a coffee/tea to go or stay for a while and have a full meal. The ambiance is amazing- country cooking with all the smells, kindest hospitality, and a warm feeling all around. Sit outside or inside, even watch the chef cook while you make an order to go. I have a feeling this place gets packed on weekends.

We stayed at village inn where the restaurant is located. We ordered online and had breakfast near the pool tables. Great pancakes and they had a Togo sandwiches with avacado spinach and egg is awesome. Excellent service even though it’s a bit late to come out they apologized throughly .. felt great and will come again for sure
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We came here for breakfast with my family, and everything was amazing! The food was delicious, fresh, and came out quickly. The staff was super friendly and made us feel welcome right away. The kids loved their meals, and Brenda and I really enjoyed ours too. Great portions, fair prices, and a cozy local spot that feels like home. Definitely one of the best breakfast places in town—we’ll be coming back often!
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food here. We ordered the healthy start breakfast and tri-tip sandwich, they were both excellent. Easily the one of the best restaurants near the Vandenberg Air Force Base with a beautiful garden and spacious dining room. Also the only one in Lompoc on Open Table!
We were stunned because the food and service was so exceptional. I had the beef ribs and my partner had tri tip - these mains were both totally on point and our sides were too.
We were surprised with how good the food was. It wasn’t expensive, you got too much of it, and it was delicious!! Drinks were delicious too!!

Im a local and highly recommend this place if you are in the area. Breakfast and lunch are dead on. Service is good and staff are nice. Always bet on tri-tip.
First visit. Came for lunch at around 12:30. Very pleasant environment with lots of windows looking out at the hotel grounds. A large bar area with no bartender at lunch but you can sit and be served. Food: I was craving a ruben sandwich so ordered this with side cole slaw and ice tea. Sandwich was good size but the corn beef was very dry and not that tender. Russian dressing was more a mayo with maybe some ketchup mixed in. Not authentic. Service Service was bare minimum. Took my order, dropped off my food and bolted. Never asked if there was anything else needed. Never checked back (really needed mustard), never refilled ice tea. Dropped check without a thank you. I asked for a to go box and it took so long for her to return, I finally got up to pay my bill at the front desk and was ready to leave when she finally returned. Overall, a nice variety of items on the menu and I will probably give it another try. Breakfast menu looked good.

My husband & I heard wonderful things about the breakfasts at this restaurant but since it was evening, we decided on a whim to go for dinner. We were seated right away & chose a booth which was very low & uncomfortable. I’m on the short side, and I couldn’t even drink my water without spilling as I had to tilt it very far over to reach my mouth. We began our meal with clam chowder which desperately needed salt. My husband, who hardly ever adds salt to anything, needed to add salt to his too. But other than that, it was just okay. Nothing special. Next we both had the tri-tip sandwich with au-jux. First, the tri-tip was very dry - it even had dry edges that curled & became crunchy. There was nothing on the bread except for the dry meat. Next, the au-jux was so weak we even tried stirring it thinking that maybe the good flavors had just sunk to the bottom of the bowl. It didn’t. The entire presentation lacked any kind of care or thought. It was very disappointing & I have zero desire to go back again. The restaurant was nearly empty & we came at 6pm. The evening sky through the windows was lovely & our server was nice although he had no idea what time they opened for breakfast. Our first impression was basically a non-impression. Bland, boring, dull & basic. I would not recommend & we won’t be going back.
I’m late on my review but a few months ago, had late lunch with my co workers for a meeting. This restaurant was not my pick. Well everyone was served their lunch while I waited for my tri tip sandwich. Basically had to ask for a box to go because everyone was done with their food. The tri tip was dry. I was disappointed with the food and the service. I am being generous with the second stars. I will stick to Valle Eatery + Bar. That is the place to go!

Whoever rated this place a 4.7 is either lying or has taste buds made of cardboard. This food was tragic. One bite felt like a personal attack, and the rest went straight into the trash where it belonged. I called to give them a chance to fix it, and Steve acted like customer service was optional. Rude, argumentative, and completely unhelpful. Between the dumpster-tier food and the attitude, this place is a hard NO. Save your money and your stomach. Don’t get the patty melt, $40 down the drain

Went to lunch today (Tuesday) at 11AM. was seated next to 3 loud mouth and foul talking guys. Ask to be reseated and gave the hostess the reason. Food was good and facility nice. Even now seated across room, we could still hear the loud and foul talking by the 3 guys. Mentioned it again to the hostess, she still seemed not to care. When we left, 2 of the 3 guys were in a Lompoc Unified School car and left going towards Cabrillo High. Not very good LUSD representatives. Suggestion for Daves: Control your customers. Not sure we will return Suggestion for LUSD: Teach your employees some manners. Response to the Dave's response: It was no a single customer that was loud and foul mouthed. There were three in the group and each were contributing. It was pointed out twice to your representative and they took no action, not even (that we observed at the time or in your response) a suggestion that they be reseated or control their language. Your response that we ask to be seated in another area suggests you are not concerned about the bad behavior of your customers. "Boys will be boys and we don't care so take your business to some place else." We will do that!
Very disappointed with our experience. We waited about 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and seated us. After being seated, it took another 15+ minutes for someone to come by to ask for drinks, and nearly 30 minutes before our food order was taken. I was looking for a vegetarian option for lunch, but there were none available on the menu. I ended up ordering a chicken sandwich, which was very bland and not worth the $20+ price. On top of that, none of the staff members seemed welcoming — I didn’t see a single smile, which made the experience feel even more uninviting. Overall, very disappointing.
No more CAC discounts. I’ve been a loyal customer here for a long time, but my recent visit was disappointing. For the first time, my military discount was denied by the new manager on duty. Additionally, the service was off—my order for a beef Tri-Tip Platter was served as chicken fried steak, and I was charged an extra $4 for French toast that I was led to believe was part of the meal. I tipped and didn't make a scene at the time, but the change in management and lack of attention to detail means we won’t be returning.
The sewer gas was so gross we had to walk out before even ordering a drink… Bartender didn’t even acknowledge us. Absolutely gross. New restaurant, old plumbing. Not a good combo… Zero stars.
