Great Parisian restaurant in Covent Garden. I have been here twice and absolutely loved it both times. The food is full of flavour and fulfilling, and the service is top notch. I have been here once at lunchtime and ate à la carte, the second time for a pre-theatre menu which just as good as the à la carte menu. It is fantastic value at £19.95 for three courses. The best dish for me was the 'Floating island, sugared almonds & custard' – heaven in a bowl. It is a great restaurant, I felt like I had walked into an episode of Mad Men and I love it. Go with a date or a family celebration.

We always enjoy this place and it's one of the top three choices for me when it comes to pre-theatre dining in the West End. Food is delicious and simple at the same time, giving you that home-cooked taste and feel; there are some cosy corners you can get seated at if you arrive early enough and staff are very welcoming and attentive. It does get busy at peak evening times, which could be off-putting, but in any case I strongly recommend it.

Buzzy french brasserie, great for before or after the theatre. Tell them when you go in if you have any time constraints and they'll do their best to help you out. I really liked the sardines as well as the snail and bacon pie.

Stopped by at 10.30 on a Thursday night, had a fantastic meal and lovely drinks. Very friendly staff, exceptionally accommodating. Had the chopped steak, followed by the brilliant lemon curd doughnuts - wonderful.

Quick quiz question…What are the two best things about France? If you said (a) beating them at rugby, and (b) the food, then you my friend are absolutely, positively 100% correct. Très bien. (Although I also would have given you a point if you’d responded with Julie Delpy or the chap who talks funny in ‘Allo ‘Allo!) But while we can’t guarantee victory against Les Bleus at every 6 Nations, French cuisine is perpetual in its greatness. And there are few finer exponents of the art on this side of the Channel than Les Deux Salons in Covent Garden. Assuming you manage to dodge the litany of Garfunkels’ Angus Steakhouses and TGI Fridays that saturate the West End’s culinary market, you’ll enter the expansive Gallic dining room. It's typically brasserie-ey, art deco-esque wood, brass, tiled floors and sweeping leather banquette seating with lollipop lanterns for punctuation. Loud and bustling, it hosts an interesting array of clientele. Pre-theatre diners, tourists fresh from Trafalgar Square, be-suited City types. Somehow, the Parisian brasserie is smart enough to attract business types trying to impress new potential clients, yet sufficiently inexpensive (more on which shortly) and unintimidating to tempt in stragglers passing by. Owners Anthony Demetre and Will Smith have had some practice. With Arbutus in Soho and Wild Honey in Mayfair, they’ve had plenty of experience in perfecting this balance. More crucially however, they also come armed with a Michelin star in their back pockets, and of course it’s in the eating that Les Deux Salons proves its greatness. The menu is littered with everything you’d expect to see from a Menu Francais (<--------presumably French for “French Menu”). Steak Frites, Foie Gras, calf’s liver and Niçoise all make their uniform appearances and, from the ones we greedily stuffed our Anglo faces with, the standard was inevitably excellent. Ooh la, and indeed, la. But Great Little Place never was the type of crowd-sourced-forum-thingy that sticks with the easy choices. Non monsieur. Queue the formidable Snail & Bacon Pie. It’s snails. And bacon. In white sauce. With pastry on top. And it’s wicked. And do save some room for dessert (obviously). We got lucky with the Tart of the day; Peach Melba was exactly the fruity finish that was required after two courses of buttery, creamy goodness/naughtiness. Crème brûlée and a spankingly good rice pudding are also among the choices, but are difficult to recommend if you value the clear, uninterrupted passage of your arteries. While some poorly planned food combos may encourage premature coronary issues, the bill won’t. Particularly in view of the two set-menu options: you can tuck in to the soup du jour and a main for less than a tenner. Ten pounds more will get you a dessert and a glass of wine. It’s a splendid thing that places like this still exist in London if you look hard enough, where a truly excellent meal can be enjoyed without the need to remortgage the chateau. And Les Deux Salons rises way beyond merely comme ci, comme ça. It’s ruddy bloody bien.

Wonderful food and great service in an authentic setting. Set menu available very reasonable, normal menu worth the higher prices for a treat. Fab cocktails.

Pre-NYE party dinner with 9 friends in the private dining room on 31st December 2013. Superb, attentive service from enquiry to farewells. Excellent choice of dishes all delicious. Thank you.

A favourite due to its character, atmosphere, broccoli & goats cheese soup and the service. For the perfectly cooked bavette alone, this venue is worth the visit. Bon appetit.

We went on Tuesday evening. We took the 3 course menu for £22 which is good value in the area. The waitress was really nice and the service really good. We ll come back.

Went here on a Pre-theatre menu, the food and cocktails were excellent. Would definitely come back again. Decor is stylish and very 1930s.

We come here again and again. Typical Paris bistro, superb food and wine allied with excellent service. Speedy enough for pre-theatre eats and posh enough for a special meal. Great place.

this place is good value, great atmosphere, opens later than most so no rush to get out. i've eaten here a dozen times and nearly everything has been perfect most of the time. you feel like you have left london and visited paris.

Stumbled across this restaurant last night and was virtually the only place local (except McDonald's) serving food at 1630... great food, great great wine, great service. Would buy again.

We had chicken terrine and salmon to start, both excellent. Fish courses for main course both tasty also. Recommended highly.

Usually nice and quiet and always get a table. Food is a little prices but good. You can also go for drinks only but cocktails range from £9.50 up so keep that in mind.

Still good value pre theatre menu, tasty, well proportioned food promptly served. A very meaty menu!

Great French quisine in a wonderful art deco environment.

Went for 2-course pre-theatre dinner on Saturday 16th June. Steak tartare was poor - far too much mustard left the steak without flavour; you'd get better in an average French bistro. Sardines were great - but then you'd have to struggle to ruin sardines, wouldn't you? My partner enjoyed her pollock, but only once it had been sent back and re-cooked: we had explained that she is pregnant and it was served pink in the middle. Unimpressed, given the pedigree.

Nice looking place near Trafalgar Square which feels like a Parisian brasserie. Good for business lunch but doesn't pass the own money test. Shame as am a great fan of Wild Honey in same ownership.

Nice French style brasserie. Pissaladière is amazing. Too bad the "vegetarian menu on request" doesn't really exist.

This has become my go-to for most business lunches, given that my office is a brisk 3-minute stroll away. Since the renovation, the decor hasn't changed much, (and that's a good thing, as it was splendid before, with lots of dark wood, leather and well-planned lighting). The menu has been upgraded slightly, and the food is as reliable as ever. Service as one would expect in a French restaurant; attentive but never intrusive. The first floor restaurant leans more into fine dining, whereas the bistro/cafe on the ground floor is great for a coffee or a lighter lunch/dinner.

My brother is a huge steak fan and this is one of his favourite places. We had a grill selection and the meat was cooked excellently. The waiter gave good wine recommendations and had a bright and breezy demeanour which fitted perfectly with the table. We left stuffed and happy!

Came here before The National Portrait Gallery and had a great time. As I arrived thankfully there wasn't a queue and a seat in the window opened up. The staff was extremely friendly and the food and wine delicious. I ordered the Croque Madame and was pleased with both the presentation and size of the dish. It was sooo tasty. The bread was toasted well and every bite had a nice mix of varying textures and flavors. Saved this restaurant and will definitely return the next time I stay in this area. Alex is amazing and will definitely be back to visit.

Rather good french food. Excellent bread. Beautiful settings. Feels like a proper French brasserie.

I only had a martini at the bar and it maybe a bit expensive but they do give you 75 ml, which is the equivalent of three singles sold for £9.50, which sounds reasonable for a well executed martini.

C
Chris Matenaers

A bit on the pricey side, inside has the feel of a modem french brasserie. Food was good, but not on the wow-side.

More low-key then the sister restaurants, it is also less impressive. Service is good, the decor is nothing special.

A leeetle beet of France in the west end....lovely welcome just waiting for the charcuterie

Quality establishment. Lovely food. But poor service for breakfast trade. Shown to the wrong table and introduced to someone who wasn't the named contact given upon arrival. Was quite funny to be fair. Shouldn't accuse a customer of having ordering food they hadn't ordered. A toastie isn't an omelette.

Came here for valentines day. Service was spot on! Ordered muscles and steak tar tar. It was just okay. Perhaps needed more marination or flavour. Just missed the point here

We went on New Years Eve for a meal. The staff were helpful and the food arrived promptly after ordering. For starters I had the scrambled egg with haddock which was fantastic, my wife had the veal, which was OK - salad was a bit bitter. We went on to have steak which was good (but not sure about the sauce) and the pasta which was way too salty. I probably would have given it 4 stars had it been a bit cheaper, but for the money it's not excellent value.

Great service. Took a client for lunch and would have to say I've enjoyed lunches served by other nearby vendors

Tasty food, friendly staff, but rather expensive and 12.5% discretionary tip charged automatically.

Le Deus Salon used to be one of my favourite places in London to eat. Unfortunately the refurbishment has killed the character of the place. Previously it was like stepping back into the 1930s or some classic French restaurant. Now it's just a bunch of tables in a dark atmosphere. It might be OK if you've never been here before but for those who frequented the place in the past it's best to go some place else. Hang onto the memories that this restaurant once was.

It's very rare that I dislike fries, but even their fries were disappointing -- over salted. The gnocchi were in an overly-rich, too-salted sauce. Companions disliked too- cheesy endive salad and tough beef tartare. Bread was good, but the rest of the food was not.

M
Martijn

I went for the Café Gourmand. Service was a bit slow. The madeleine was very bitter on the outside, the apple pie was underwhelming and the crème brûlée tasted very fatty. I won't be back here.

C
Corinna Stock

Overpriced for what you get and not a lot of it. The fixed price menu doesn't give a great deal of choice and once you've added on extras i.e vegetables is not good value for money.

M
Marcus Tucker

Our Saturday lunch featured mostly disappointing food and surly staff, perhaps evenings are better but we won't be returning to find out.

We made pre-theater reservations here before going to the Apollo theater. As it is a french restaurant we were expecting quality, french food, nice ambiance, friendly staff, all around a good experience before a night out at the theater. So you can imagine our dismay when we arrived and they had changed the menu that day to American hot dogs and the like. Still pricey, but terrible choice in food. I get it, the restaurants around this area are pretty much pub and fast food. Great going, Les Deux Salons, for blending in rather than being original. But you should probably change your name if you are no longer going to serve french food. Can't rate the food because we left after seeing the menu.

We went here for a pre theatre dinner once. Served my husband inedible steak, twenty minutes after my meal arrived. Meat was tough, overdone and terrible. Thankfully great service staff took the price of the uneaten steak off the bill. Have been here on other occasions and food has been good, so unsure why it was so bad this time.

Drunk waiter, rude manager, got all our orders wrong, and didn't even bother to speak with us!! Food was ok, not worth the value though
